HOW ON EARTH do you expect any of Civilised world to believe after all the lies and propaganda Serbian government have made. You forget the fact that USA, UK, GERMANY, ITALY, FRANCE ets they are all in Kosovo at present. All the findings about mass graves and crimes committed by Serbian police and army were carried by international experts.
    As for you doesntmatter. You know when you will occupying Kosovo again? In your dreams. NOT EVEN THEN.

    Tito, by agreement with Albania, did not allow the Serbs to return to Kosovo and just provided them with financial compensation. The borders between Albania and Yugoslavia were widely opened until march of 1949 and Tito did not take the census to calculate how many Albanians moved into Kosovo during this time. The Croatian Serbs did not receive the autonomy like the Kosovo Albanians in 1963. At this time the ration of Serbian population to Albanian was 1 to 9. According to the Constitution of Yugoslavia of 1974 Kosovo was an autonomous region and was part of the Socialist Republic of Serbia. According to the constitution Kosovo has equal rights with the Republic of Serbia.
    In the 1970s repeated cases of intolerance towards the Serbs took place in Kosovo.
    Between 1971 and 1981, when the census took place, 50,000 Serbs left Kosovo.
    In 1981 mass disturbances took place that put a beginning to the so-called "Kosovo Intifada" which existed on the level of gangsterism and eventually brought about the events of the 90s and 2004.
    Before the military actions of the 90s there were 1800 Orthodox cathedrals and monasteries, 200 of which date back to the times before the 14th century when the Serbian Patriarchate was established in 1346. During the military actions many Orthodox monasteries and temples were destroyed. Kosovo has become the Serbian Gilgotha.

      First of all everything is a lie to the last word, second I am not wasting time in telling you the history. I prefer you and others to read what others say not what your dummy historians. To know the truth read ???The Albanians An Ethnic History from Prehistoric Times to the Present??? by EDWIN E. JACQUES. Author has nothing to neither do nor have any relation with neither Albanians nor Serbs. All leaders of European countries and USA read it than found the facts of the truth of Kosova. I have answer to all your numbers but just not important any more because Kosova is independent and you can yell, scream or cry and you will not be able to change anything. All I know you will have to live with it for rest of your life and any generation after you. World have already seen enough what???s the true face of Serbs( look how they are acting, no deferent from whiled animals) so no matter what you say it will not help.

    The UCK, which leaders are today in the Kosovo goverment, was one of the first terrorist organisations connected with Al Kaida.
    Now America recognize Kosovo independence.

    Comment: To all Albanians: What about 1,900 Serbian people still missing on Kosovo? They are missing from 1999. Some of the missing were found in mass graves. Probably these 1,900 are in mass graves too. Autopsy is showing that many of them where chocked by wire, many are missing bones, have broke bones, sculls etc.
    Shame on you what you did on Kosovo and how many people you tortured and killed.

      Most of this 1900 were Serb soldiers (prisoners, psychos which Milosevic made them soldiers) and none of them woman, kids or elderly. What were you expecting to kill, massacre thousands and thousands of innocent kids, woman???s and elderly and none of you psychos to be hurt. I can see how dummy you are

    First, terminology like NGO is not in use in Italy. They use terminology NPO (non for profit organization).
    Second, that territory was never Catholics and you can find that on Vatican web site. There are some catholic Albanians but they live in Albania.
    Third, Italian troops on Kosovo were the only ones who protected Serbian churches and monasteries. 22 of them dies from Albanian terrorists and that is why Italian part of KFOR got medal of St. Sava 1st degree, the highest medal of Serbian Orthodox Church. They were also attending services in Serbian Churches and there a move about that and here it is:

      During Turkish Ottoman Empire, Venice left Albanians alone and didn't help them in fight against Turks. I do understand they regret that now and trying everything to compensate that. Even though majority of Albanians in Kosova are Muslims they still are proud of Saint mother Teresa (I know you Serbs tried to say she was Serb but didn't work because she had Albanian name and did speak Albania not Serbian). Thank you USA, Thank you Europe, Thank you world for helping us in getting freedom from Serbian animals (why animals? Ask me and I tell you more why Serbs are cannibals and like to use knife when killing their enemy)

    Another Failed State? It's been 5 days!!! First of all, it's amazing how some American's can be so hypocritical to expect a full-functioning democracy in places like Iraq and Kosovo when it, itself, took nearly 200 years to give women and blacks the right to vote!!!! How dysfunctional of a country were we in the 1800's? Do people like the author conveniently forget? And...of all pictures...they put one that could very easily resemble a part of a city like Detroit....Right here in America!!! If they had taken a picture of the capital, Prishtina, a very different image would emerge....nothing short of any other major European City. And, interesting how the author mentions the 200,000 Serbs that had to flee. What about the thousands that were MASSACRED AND MURDERED? Also, the author mentions the unemployment rate...ironically, the country of Saudi Arabia who is so rich and powerful, isn't far off of Kosovo's statistics for unemployment, except the fact that they think they're too good to do most of the work, where Kosovars find it hard to find work. Oh, and who is blowing up the American Embassy in Belgrade? The Albanians or the Serbs? The Serbs are continuing to prove what kind of people they are. Maybe Serbia should become a province of Russia..it's all it deserves to be anyway. Their dictatorships didnt last long. Luckily, the croations, the slovenes, the macedonians, the bosnians, and now the Albanains can be free from their tyranny. I am so disturbed that Newsweek would even allow this author to post such an article. Opinions are opinions, but when they clearly negate the facts, it becomes propoganda.

    Since the author of this article freely felt like voicing his opinion when he said "Kosovo..it will almost certainly be is a failed state." I will freely say to him/her "Go to hell, with your negative, serb-siding self." With the US on Kosovo's side there is a great deal of possible success. This should have been done a long time ago. The US realizes that, and would not put in the effort if they were not predicting a victorious outcome! Kosovo will prevail. THe serbs are showing their true colors by burning American flags, and I am glad the world is now able to view just a small taste of what Kosova has been dealing with for so many years. God bless America, and everyone who believes in peace, freedom, and an Independent Kosovo!

    Kosovar population living in Kosovo are autochthon in this territories. In 1912 yrs. was held conference in London when Albania was pronounced us sovereign state. Kosova and their territories populated with Albanians such us in Monte negro and Macedonia today were separated from their country with force and many killing. Nothing is connecting Albanians with Serbs, since second ones they comes from Carpates/Russia spelled like gypsies from this territories. Albanian people are one of the oldest population in Europe and their language is us a part of Indo-European languages. Churches in Kosovo are Albanian since this population was converted by force from Turks into muslims meanwhile we never lost our connections with Vatikan since among us are living many our brothers with catholic religion. From that year 1912 we had time of exodus they left Kosovo around 500 000.00 people, killing from Serbian regime until year 1999 when western countries they said STOP killing and exodus of innocent people of Kosovo.
    I would like to thank especially to American people for the support given and people of other western countries

      how come that ,as you said, catholics were building orthodox churches?how come that there are Serbian rulers in these icons? Get real: serbian rulers build them. I don't know where you went to school, but it wouldn't surprise me that you erased the fact that your borders were closed by the rest of the world (that civilized you were after the world war) from your history books

    kosovo it is serbia now as it has being for hundreds of years before albanians looking for better future moved to kosovo and now the claim to be a different country. It does n't make sence why we support something that we have no idea how it will affect other balkan countries in the region.It is like mexicans declare southern california indepened country ????? not wise by any standard bad move very bad.
