I have been an Obama supporter from the beginning, but until now, I have always respected Hillary Clinton. In fact, I have stood up for her when my republican and even democrat friends have bashed her. I truly believed Clinton was an intelligent woman, capable of leading this country. I am disgusted, though, by her behavior since she's started losing. She will say and do anything to win. If it's Clinton, I'm voting McCain.

    • Posted By: mmarianne @ 02/20/2008 10:45:47 AM

Then I guess McCain will win because if it's Obama I will vote for McCain and that is what the Republicans want - you happy now Obama - wanna be

You need a hug. Do what you have to. OBAMA, your t-shirt is in the mail. You don't even know the man. I don't hate Hillary, but that doesn't mean I going to vote for her. Get a grip.

    • Posted By: prsolinger @ 02/20/2008 11:06:38 AM

For every Clinton supporter (i.e. sore loser) that refuses to vote for Obama, there are two Obama supporters that will not vote for Clinton. Obama is a sure bet to beat McCain, but Clinton will get almost no independents or republicans to vote for her.

I"m fed up with this pipe dreamer is what I'm fed up with and the stupidity of all of you that are voting for him that's what I'm fed up with. You will see another Republican in office because the goverenment will not allow this cult like wanna be in office - I will switch to republican if he is nominated democrate. YOU ARE ALL LOSING YOUR MINDS!!!

    • Posted By: jbizzy @ 02/20/2008 11:52:46 PM

Dude you are out there. If this is a cult movement, then you must be Jim Jones. This election is about a person with a vision for America. I can beleive in some one that has a vision. Hell, I will even work towards a vision. Being in Iraq for 100 years. That is not a vision, that is insane.

    • Posted By: PACGIRL @ 02/20/2008 12:46:09 PM

mmarianne, perhaps if you consider voting for an individual and not a "political party" we can bring this nation together as a country. Have you seen the news in recent years? The hypocrites, proverted and criminal things that sOME of the republicans have done in recent years? It happens in the Democratic Party as well. Do you know why? Because these politicians are simply put HUMAN! Vote for the principle & the merit of the individual and for goodness sakes, leave the political affiliation out of it. If you know a republican or a democrat is a crook, would you elect them in to office simply because of thir political affiliation.
Think for yourself, that is not unless you are incapable of doing so. Individuality and common sense works well together. Try it, you just might like it and find a better sense of 'SELF" at which time you can help others with open eyes and heart. Just a thought..

    • Posted By: THE RAVEN @ 02/20/2008 12:04:48 PM

You, mmarianne, is the stupid one who is losing--have lost their mind! What pipe dream are you talking about? You are so use to hearing and voting for the same good ol' boys that when you hear something different from someone who really want to change things in Washington, you resort to ignorant comments and insults.
What you don't like is the complexion of Obama. People all over the country want to see a fresh face with fresh ideas. The stupid comments about him not being experienced enough to be President is irrational, because you can't get experience being a President UNTIL you become President.
I KNOW you voted for BUSH--2 times!

I feel betrayed by Oprah. She speaks all this crap about standing up for womens rights and then the first black man that runs for office- she gives her support. Does it surprise you that her black heritage rates higher with her than womens rights? Who's kidding themselves. This race is about electing a black president or a women president.

    • Posted By: Abby1989 @ 02/20/2008 11:46:40 PM

I think that Oprah backs Barack Obama because she believes in him. It is not a black or white, male or female issue. It is sad if you cannot get over the race and gender issue. We as a country should come together and support the person that can get things done. One of the things that needs changing is our hang ups regarding race and gender. Oprah is supporting Senator Obama because he is the best candidate.

Wow, the Hillary folk have really lowered themselves. This reminds me a lot of her campaign workers here in Texas -- angry, empty, and negative. I have to say, given the number of places this kind of thinly veiled race-baiting appears, I actually believe it is an official Clinton campaign tactic. Now THERE'S something to be proud of, huh America???

"Horns for Hillary"--How apt given your disposition and her resorts to inept attacks to try to win votes in Wisconsin. Your right carl about the thinly veiled race-baiting being a Clinton tactic, but it's one that's been proven ineffective. If Republicans pursue that line of attack, they will ensure they're defeat in November. Hillary is not capable of running the government, she can't even manage her own campaign. She didn't have any contingency plans in place, and her own arrogance and mismanagement has been her campaign's ruin. What makes you think that she can manage the White House?

How many of you young people are ready to take care of your parents?

Unfortunately noty too many of us, and not many of us will be able to ever. Seriously, there won't be any social security, and housing prices vs. wage standards are absolutely repulsive. So what are we supposed to do? Unless someone manages to save social security and fix the economy. out of the last 28 years 20 of them were Republican run...and look at where we are. Yep, hopefully a Dem can fix it..otherwise the elderly are indeed going to be screwed. But people on fixed incomes have no particularly good reason to support the Republicans unless that income is fixed at over 200,000 per year do they?

I think Michelle Obama's comment did more damage than Hillary could have ever wished for. Babe, you don't sit in the "First Lady" seat if you don't love America. Man, she got more breaks from this fine land than any kid of any color and she doesn't acknowledge that it could only happen in America????? Glad we found out not instead of later.

    • Posted By: Oddy @ 02/20/2008 12:18:54 PM

If you were to poll other Black professionals within her age group you would probably be shocked at our opinions. We have not gotten breaks just because now, the playing field appears to be "somewhat" level. Michelle Obama nor any other Black professional should feel that because of her color, her professional attainments could have only happened in America, give me a BREAK!!!! I guess if you compare the education opportunity to the effects of "lynch mobs" that also "only happened in America", she should be grateful to be ALIVE.
I share her feelings, as a 53year old, American from African decent, for the first time I am PROUD of AMERICA!!!!
      Proud Black Professional

      • Posted By: Excusenomore08 @ 02/20/2008 1:14:59 PM

I find it hard to understand why Black Americans can not say they are proud of what their country has done.
I think it is because we, in general, are by products of our own communities. The Black community has had no real role models, no real success stories,no one that has done anything worth mentioning on the national stage except maybe Oprah, Collin Powell, Condeleaza Rice, Martin Luther King. If I made 212000.00 a year in this country I would be real proud that my country put in place what it took for me to attain this. I think having a Half Black President is maybe not such a bad thing. Now little Black kids can grow up as I did and dream that maybe someday they can become the President of the United States of America! Maybe it will stop the excuses that a Black man or women can get what the White man or women has.

        • Posted By: jbizzy @ 02/20/2008 11:37:37 PM

What has America done for Blacks. It seems that they lead every negative statistics in America. Crime , proverty, press. How quickly we forget New Orleans and how the media show cased blacks in that event. Most black families income 25 to 45 thousand compare to white families 120 thousand. America has not been that great to Blacks.

    • Posted By: D. Affiliated @ 02/20/2008 12:47:26 PM

Oh please, spare us the self-serving self-righteousness "lilliea". Michelle can be proud of her country because it's ready for change and people are energized and ready to build something new all she wants. Hillary Clinton is the one who said the she was "proud of the America that CAN BE", what the heck is the difference. You're just jumping down Michelle Obama's throat because you're a bunch of bigots. Look at the hard numbers lillea, Obama got almost three times as many votes as McCain in the Wisconsin primary last night. I hope that the Republicans follow your example and persue this line of attack, it will ensure a massive Obama win in November.

      • Posted By: Abby1989 @ 02/20/2008 11:01:28 PM

You are right -- there was nothing wrong with Michelle Obama's comment. I feel the same way. There is a renewed hope and enthusiasm that our country can unite and this certainly makes us more proud than ever. The Clintons had their chance in the White House. They campaigned on the issue of getting healthcare then too but did we get healthcare for everyone? NO! I am not falling for that one again.

Even if he is your average politician who's going to break every promise that he's made once he's elected, the public overwhelmingly voted and continues to vote for him based on his message of change. This means that the public is fed up with politics as usual. We're tired of being misled, we're sick of being lied to, we're sick of the government providing tax breaks to those who outsource our jobs, we're sick of shedding blood sweat and tears, only to lose our life savings at the hands of corporate greed, and last but not least, we're sick of our mothers, fathers, brothers and sisters and friends being sent to slaughter like so many lambs for a cause that the majority of Americans feel is unjustified (Iraq). So even if he turns out to be a sham, we won't have to say that we didn't stand up and say that enough is enough. We won't let you or anyone else stand in our way any longer. Vote for Barrack Obama!!

Why is it that these idiots haven't noticed that only other idiots are spouting this nonsense. Don't you think any of the other 99 Senators would have noticed what "Hoov" wishes to share, if there were any truth to any of it? "Hoov" doesn't deserve the right to vote.

If you go to the website www.truthorfiction.com you will see the picture that they are talking about. None of the people on stage is even looking at the flag. When you salute the flag -- you look at it. I believe that they were singing the national anthem not pledging to the flag. I don't personally know anyone that puts their hand over their heart while the national anthem is being played. We were not taught that in school. I see nothing wrong with the way Senator Obama is standing for the national anthem.

I was a volunteer for Barack Obama but changed my mind when I realized his beliefs. I read his book. I researched his ties to Islam. No one in Wisconson or other states cares about his light weight track record or the fact that he went to Muslim school as a child (that may or may not be bad, make your own conclusions on the facts, but know them. The reason he did well was blind hysteria. One voter told me that she decided to vote for Obama two years ago--before his platform was even known. Fine, you like the man. But know the man.
You need to read his book, and then if you still feel comfortable, fine. You need
to read articles and facts about him. THe fact that he distrusts some white people concerns me a great deal. The fact that he is drawn to the Nation of Islam.

I am a voter for Barack Obama, I HAVE read his books, and I am quite comfortable with his stance. I am a white, educated woman, and even I distrust some white people. My distrust comes mostly from instinct, backed up by experience. Not all people are to be trusted, it doesn't matter their race or origin. And I went to Catholic school as a child, but I am agnostic. Does that make me bad?

So...are you going to blame a black man if he is bold enough to say it...than you should condem me too because I live and breath with my kind...and ther eare a great many that i interact with, who say: they do things - just because of "white Power...' This is a great day for AMERICA, when we are able and willing to look past or ignorant inbred trainings..and see the world wider, brighter and full of hope, and this man has more integrity than the last 40 years of the politicians we have had save for maybe Carter, who was ineffective, but had integrity none the less. DOWN WITH AMERICAN BIGOTRY - up for change and hope.

Southberwick19, either you are an extremely ignorant and naive person, or you knowingly spread lies around. Obama never went to a Muslim school, he was raised by his Christian mother. So you either never read his book and lied about doing so, or you read it and decided to level idiotic charges at him anyway. What frustrates me most is that people like you level this charge of being a Muslim like there should be a religious litmus test and only Christians should be president. I think any of these candidates would be just as qualified as they are now if they were Muslim, Christian, Atheist, or anything else. Unless you specifically state that you would use your religion to determine your policies then it doesn't matter what deity you choose to worship or not worship.

  • Posted By: user7 @ 02/20/2008 1:28:49 PM

blacks voting for obama because he is good is one thing, but most blacks as has been written, are voting for him because he is black, period! what does that say for him as president, absolutely nothing, yet the republicans who are sending out their armies to vote and support obama to rid hillary plays right into their tactics of getting mccain elected, carl rove must be in the house

    • Posted By: jbizzy @ 02/20/2008 10:45:41 PM

Are there black people living in Idaho and Iowa? Whites are also voting for Obama. Hell, Hillary had to cry to win New Hampshire. What's up with that. I guess she is going to run this country on tears.

those voting for obama have no idea of what this man is capable of doing for the country, as hillary has stated in her message over and over again, words do not create change, the ignorance of some to vote for someone because they hate another is why hillary is losing, and the black vote is there only because he is black not because he is good, how stupid the people of this country have become to allow the rhetoric of the word "change", put bags over their heads. the republicans are eating this up, carl rove must be in the house, he certainly worked this campaign to his liking, well, my vote will not go to obama, mc cain, or let the ruination further polarize this country, which it will, especially from those who think obama is their savior

    • Posted By: jbizzy @ 02/20/2008 10:25:01 PM

No, most American's don't know what Obama is capable of doing when he gets into office, but I do know that if Hillary gets into office, the Bush's and the Clinton's will have held the presidents office for 24 years or more. This is America, not England. It's time for change.

      During the first - 8 - eight
years of his elected service he sponsored over 820 bills.

      He
      introduced 233 regarding healthcare reform:

      > 125 on poverty and
      public assistance,
      > 112 crime fighting bills,
      > 97 economic
      bills,
      > 60 human rights and anti-discrimination bills,
      > 21
      ethics reform bills,
      > 15 gun control,
      > 6 veterans affairs and
      many others.

His first year in the U.S. Senate, he authored 152 bills and co-sponsored another 427.

      These inculded:

      **the
Coburn-Obama Government Transparency Act of 2006 - became law,

      **The
Lugar-Obama Nuclear Non-proliferation and Conventional Weapons Threat Reduction Act, - became law,

      **The Comprehensive Immigration
Reform Act, passed the Senate, **The 2007 Government Ethics Bill, - became law,

**The Protection Against Excessive Executive Compensation Bill, In committee, and many more.

In all, since entering the U.S.
Senate, Senator Obama has written 890 bills and co-sponsored another 1096.
An impressive record, for someone who
      supposedly has no record

women have often shown their callous, jealous, petty nature towards each other, "did you see what she was wearing", "God how disgraceful", "look at her hair", rather than looking at the person from an objective point of view, listen to what "they are saying, not how they say it", or what they are wearing when saying it, women cannot get beyond their own vanity

men, well, they have shown their insecurities towards women from the beginning of time, and the cave man attitude is still there, "pound your chest" " I am man, you are woman, bring dinner", mentality will exist to the ends of time

to the extent that many white men are voting for obama speaks volums of the "he man attitude" least they give hillary a nod, which they would not do and give women power, oh gosh, what, have i gone mad. same as homosexualty, many men fear analyzing it, because they fear they themselves may be one, try not to analyze them too much, the effort is not worth it

cOMMENTS these days the media takes it job very trivial, It has faailed to inform the AMRICAN people how well prepared are the CANDIDETES to perform the most imprtant job, leading our country as the best in the world in all means, ECONOMICALY, MILITARILY, ETC ,ETC..... After the big experience with George W. Bush, the media seems not to learn anything. It just continues blind and go with the hysteria of the crowd.. REMEMBER George W. Bush when he was campaigning for president HE CAME WITH THE BRILIANT IDEA HE HAS SPOKEN WITH GOD, and the crowds got hysteric, as well as the media. No one used the brains, no one made the necessary questions Due to the failures of George W. Bush, our country is at the door of an economical bankruptcy in which all of us will be involved- no exceptions Thanks to George W. Bush???s poor skills for the job, we have plenty more enemies than in 2001, and we attacked the wrong country. He gave us a big bag of lies, no body questioned him. Apparently no body in the media world knew anything about Iraq. anything George W. Bush, said, the media passed it to us in hysteria. The media should inform us now during the process of electing the new president the REAL /RECORD ??? OF PERFORMANCE OR LACK OF PERFORMANCE ???OF EACH CANDIDATE. Hysteria just for the rating is no good. REMEMBER: When the father of George W. Bush, ended his term, he left the country in bankruptcy. Many, corporations were under the protection of chapter 11 of the bankruptcy law, among them Merri Lynch, Macys, Bloomindales, Lord and Taylor etc. etc. Two thirds of the American people were paying the mortgage late. Millions were unemployed. WHO RESCUED THE COUNTRY OUT OF THESE CONDITIONS????.BILL CLINTON! and when he finished his term the country had a surplus. When you participate in a process as big as the rescue of the country (with your family or coworkers), you learn a lot. Hopefully we will elect the right person for president, remembering the George W. Bush???s poor skills for the job and the consequences we are having and will have and the media hysteria that took us there without thinking twice.

This unfounded rumor that Obama is a muslim and maybe even a sleeper agent is the most idiotic, desperate and sad thing I have seen in a long time. It is obviously a small mind that thinks this tactic will be effective and a small mind that would believe this garbage. Look up the facts for yourself. Using lies and fear tactics is the way the Bushies ran the country. Obama unpatriotic? I think the use of lies and fear shows just how unpatriotic the poster who wrote these comments is.

are you from middle east? Yes Obama used to be a Muslim. Back in USA he attends a Blacks Only Church. Then his team really creates a smokescreen to avoid these subjects. Media gives him a hands off approach. It is not a problem if he was going to mulslim school or prayer, it is just that people are getting denials only from his side.

However if you are just going to spout a bunch of nonesense and hope that something sticks please just go away, your time has passed.

I have never voted republican - I will if Obama is the democratic nominee.

I am a lifelong republican who is voting for Obama. If you do not feel that he has sound ideas or ideas of his own, all you have to do is read and research and you will find everything you need to know. Unfortunately, too many people believe what is told to them and Clinton's campaign (understandably so) wants us to believe that he has no ideas, just words. As for his inexperience, well experience has not really gotten us anywhere in the last several presidencies, maybe we need someone who does not the experience with all the lobbyists that are in essence buying our country and its politicians. The fact that Hilary has been in politics for over 30 years is not a comfort to me in that aspect. If Hilary gets the Democratic nomination, I will be voting Republican, not that I want to vote for McCain, but against Hilary.

GTX13 Are you racist? You keep making comments that would indicate that you might be. His name is Barack Obama. Nothing else. I don't read you slandering or misspelling any other candidate name. Maybe you should vote for McCain. You both sound like troubled.

I do believe this is ajoke people are voting because of his race only not because he is the best and most experienced, it is so SAD to see that the African americans are now coming out to vote and didn't care before.

Black people have voted before, but I don't think they wanted Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson for president. Quit trying to play the race issue. Black people have the RIGHT to vote for whoever they want to. Obama is the candidate they have wait for to support. Just imagine if Martin Luther King was living during this era in his prime.
