albertgorejr: I'm sure you're the biggest mooch around, you hate-mongering fool.
How does Hillary's experience help her to change the country? What are her accomplishments? As far as I know, she didn't exactly reform health care while she was in the WHITE HOUSE. She talks a good game and had her chances, but she accomplished nothing. Articles such as this are what's wrong with America today.
Thank you. You've just explained why I support Ron Paul (although not every position he holds). Too few realize that we have surrendered control of these issues by our inaction. Eventually their sheer enormity, and the growing voice of foreign investors will make the President and Congress even more irrelevant than they are already.

albertgorejr: I'm so glad I left the crazy Clinton bandwagon a long time ago. If it's people like you who represent them, I'm so glad to be part of the real team. Obama is the ONE.
i agree with everything you said this is our futures people or playing with and our childrens i wish everyone would wake up to this and investgate for theselfs befor they decide whose hands they want to place it in befor its to late
Your observation is quite accurate, and a lot of people will understandably be unwilling to accept it. Rhetoric has been there since time immemorial. The only difference is that some politicians are more eloquent than others.Good decision makers, those who are able to grasp reality and come up with reasonably acceptable and workable solutions are often people of few words. They are judged by what they do and not by what they say. The world does not need more eloquent politicians. We need leaders with solid credentials whose claims can be verified with their own tract record.
Would you not agree that, the same broad rhetoric and narrow agenda Senator Obama???s is accused of using , is the same inputas I see running through-out your one sided article?
Its so clear and ovious some people never change, the same put downs from the moral right??????
Finally an honest article. To date Obama has recvd the white glove treatment by the media - I suspect it is for fear of being painted by race. An example of the hands off approach is that there has been no discussion regarding the 90%+ black voting for Obama . If Clinton was pulling in 90% of the white vote there would be accusations and outrage. It is clear that voting by race rather than substance is acceptable for some.
When Obama first came to my attention, I, like many, was completely taken by him. He's a talented speaker and asserts command like we'd expect from a president. Alas, I soon became bored by his speeches. Hell, if I wanna hear a sermon, I'll go to church!! Clinton is far from flawless, but I trust her more than Obama. When she speaks, I can actually envision things getting done. With Obama's lack of experience, I only see this country getting worse. Experience means something. The fact that he's getting a free pass on this issue is bull!!
Response to Hope and Peace
The author never claimed that any of the candidates currently or in the past do this but Obama claims to be different and supposedly is doing things dfiferently (Obama's words). What the author is saying is that Obama is not different. He is the same promise the world deliver nothing new politician we have been seeing for years.
Oh and the comment of hiring the top advisors, to that I say duh...this is what every president does.
Texas, Ohio, Pennsylvania......Do you love America?????
Everyone listen to Robert Samuelson, he knows whats possible in American Politics. Don't vote for what you believe in, Don't try to change the broken system. Just let the old Washington establishment continue to make policy that doesn't work!
In this political climate - I would rather vote for uncertainty with Obama along with his vision, albeit seemingly blind optimism than vote for McCain who is so entrenched in the old and old ways he is no longer viable in the global community nor will America be under this type of mentality. As did the original patriots - they took a chance, a BIG Chance and now, we are/were a free county. I will take that risk - I would rather go where I have not been - than, go back to what has become our government under the Bush dictatorship! Get some moxey! Take a risk! Playing safe is not the way to go!
All the candidates are giving speeches right now and doing nothing. They have to become president first. I didn't hear any specifics to John McCains economic plan last night in his victory speech. It's safe to say he is all rhetoric as well; therefore he is not qualified to be president by your standards. This is ridiculous. I think some people are just jealous that he will be able to inspire people to action like no one before him. This is the people's government, by the people and for the people. No one in recent memory has articulated this like Obama. I don't think he can guarantee "change" , which he specified in his speech last night (global warming, economy, Iraq, foreign policy, our infrastructure, health, education). All these issues need some serious rethinking and retooling = "Change" . And I think Obama is the most likely candidate to bring that, even if it's not guaranteed.

I'm going to be perfectly frank, your article has no foundation. Is Barack Obama a good candidate for Presidency, that question can't be answered until he is in office, the same goes for Clinton and McCain. Yet, at least he sets his goals openly. As a writer, I'm surprised in the amount of opinion stated in this article, its s blatent. Just because Obama doesn't fit your ticket, doesn't mean you can nit pick his proposed ideas - vulture! Why not point out McCain's war frenzy, or Clinton's dirty politics/ health care scam (you think people want healthcare that can't afford it - think!). My suggestion, please don't put personal opinions in your articles, it shows naive on the writers behalf.
Samuelson is a genius. You said it the way I thought it.

albertgorejr : You're a nutcase. Please get some help, before it's too late.
I believe that this nation needs to rid itself of the old guard politics. We need to become a productive nation once again. We have become a service nation. We need to put our workers back to work. Building and creating new products and technology. We need to reopen boarded up factories and become less dependent on imports and more self sufficient by becoming a Industrialized nation once again. We need to take care our our children, our elderly and our homeless.
Can Obama do this? Who knows but why put the same old people back in Washington who have already proven that they cannot! Clinton and other career politicians are out for themselves. I agree with Obama. It's a sad state when a CEO of a company makes more in 1 day than the majority of the workers in this great nation make in 1 year. McCain....who knows.....Clinton....doubtful......Obama....what the hell....maybe!
What Obama offers us is a real chance for "bringing us all together". The world is a crazy place, to say the least, and we cannot be certain what will or what will be politically and financially possible in the next few years. What this country does not need is a president who promises to "fight' for everything that his/her natural constiutuency wants. We need a broader, more inclusive vision of progress where all factions are welcome at the table and solutions are reached by reasoned compromise. Obama promises to move in that direction. While there may be little in his record to prove conslusively exactly what he would specifically try to do on a given issue, there can be little doubt, at least, about his sincerioty, or about his record of trying to work together for the common good. Let's give the guy a chance.
Amazingly there isn't one single reference to a solution to these issues which I know the candidate has addressed but you don't even bother to acknowledge. Who has gotten to you and how much are they paying you? Obviously more than Newsweek because I know that the magazine still has at least a shred of intellectual honesty whereas it appears you have absolutely none. What are your credentials (other than a journalism degree)? I know the people who are advising him on his economic policy are Harvard and Yale MBA types. How does that stack up to your infinite experience and knowledge?
