I would rather vote for Obama with all the uncertainty than vote for anyone else given they are more of the same. I would rather risk the uncertainty than go with the certainty that nothing will change.

Samuelson is on the mark as usual. Obama is just an empty suit.

Oprahama: Does It Take One Messiah To Make Another?
THE BOYS ON THE BLOGS ARE SUDDENLY EXPRESSING UNEASE AT THE "MASS MESSIANISM,'' as Time's Joe Klein puts it, at the grass roots campaign of Senator Barack Obama's presidential campaign. Crabby wonders if Obama's been getting lessons in crowd control from The First Lady of TV, Oprah Winfrey, one of his not-so-secret weapons in his battle for the White House. Any close observer of Oprah recognizes the same pattern of repetition that both Obama and Oprah use in their prepared banter, the same emphasis on ''you." A quick look at Oprah's website will give a brief lesson on the technique. CrabbyGolightly.com/oprahama.html. Taking a dim view of celebrity, media and power.

Obama served 8 years in the Illinois State Senate. What are you talking about? Additionally, he's served 3 years in the US Senate.

He's got more legislative experience than Hillary Clinton. Care to be honest?

    YES WE CAN...

    Vote for Hillary

Thank you! I thought maybe it was just me, the media spin is making this "Obama" thing into a runaway train and I am again feeling as I did almost four years ago that American???s are very blind and ignorant???

    HA!
You gave it a goold old college try, but it didn't make the cut.

Hey, Samuelson, want to tell me why Hillary continues to sponsor international companies that take advantage of children in developing nations by cashing in on "aid" sales?

Or perhaps you can explain to everyone how Bill sold LITERS of hiv infected blood to Canada; a move that resulted in HUNDREDS of deaths up here.

You know what? The list goes on and on and on.

Obama have some faults. After all, if he were to come up with abstract new policies NO ONE would buy them. Everyone would write him off. He's trying to influence change through little changes; minor details that have substantial impacts on the lives of American citizens.

Grow up. America needs him and not Hillary.

IMO, the author has missed the real point of Obama's popularity???. and that is an outright rejection of a system that has been so broken for so long, most people can't even remember when it ever worked...IF it worked.

Bottom line, there is no way to know if any candidate will perform well...because as a "hopeful" they are not yet privy to all of the info and issues that will have profound effects on the decisions that they ultimately make.

That said, one can't vote effectively based upon what any candidate claims they will do once elected??????.because until they ARE elected...the plans are nothing more than concepts and ideals.

However, one can vote based upon what a candidate chooses to represent...and Obama does represent change simply in that he or one of his family members has not been in control of the White House for the last 20 years??? the end result of which is abysmal to say the least.

In the end, those who are able to look at the big picture, beyond infantile partisanship, are desperately hoping to finally in their lifetime to have a President who is truly intelligent, who is capable of thinking for himself, who can articulate, who is skilled in diplomacy, who possesses excellent interpersonal skills???and who has minimal if any baggage to distract from the job at hand or to be used against him/her as a bargaining chip???and, in all this Obama appears to be the only one of the candidates who truly excels in all respects.

This election is not just about what the American people want???but what is best for the country in terms of our standing in the world. The US is in dire need of a President who can once again help this country achieve the respect that it has lost over the last few administrations???.and, as the old saying goes, doing the same thing over and over again, expecting a different result, is the definition of insanity.

Pardon me, but, in my opinion, no INTELLIGENT person would ever want to be president.

First of all...how out of touch do you have to be to be a journalist? The voice of the people is being heard loud and clear. We DON'T trust the Clintons and we have seen, sadly, the McCain we thought we knew leave us shaking our collective head. Every point offerred in this article is precisely why Obama is the Man. The almost hysterical support for him illustrates plainly the deep sorrow felt by patriotic Americans. We need him. We want him.

    • Posted By: terrleah @ 02/20/2008 2:37:33 PM

We want him, we need him -- to do WHAT? Make nice speeches? Tell us we need to "come together"? Tell us "change is coming"? I don't care about any of that fluff stuff. I care about getting things done. I honestly don't know yet who the best person is to actually do that -- but for everyone to assume it must be Barack Obama because he says "change" 10 times in a paragraph and writes a nice speech is so incredibly dangerous.

something to ponder... has George Bush admitted Iraq was a huge mistake yet?? Hmmmmm.... Neither has Hillary...

Obama's campaign has been carefully "crafted." It was no secret to his supporters in the early 90's that Barack had his eye on the White House. I donated to his Congressional campaign against Bobby Rush based on his talent and promise to one day be President. I was elated when he won the Senate. But I do not cheer for him now. What happened to gaining experience? FInishing what you've started? Two years in the Illinois Senate and he throws his hat into the presidential ring. What happened to the promises made to Illiinois? Or was it all just about the "bigger" plan? Who has Obama really helped these past 10 years but himself??
