The Most High ruleth in the kingdom of men and giveth it to whomsoever he will...(Daniel 4:25). It is time for change from the usual. Should Obama win let's embrace him and help him...

and the beast , with his powers of persuasion, wil pave the way for the anti-christ

Exactly my opinion. Wake up, America! Hillary is the only competent choice, belive me. I'm not American and I'm not even interested in the election. Obama's policies are WAY left and if he doesn't accomplish everything he says he will, it will be four years of nothing done because the guy is INCOMPETENT! Wake up America! Hillary is very middle of the road - SHE'LL bring the country together. Remember the 90s when the biggest problem was, ...hmm...what problems did we have with competent Democratic leadership? Oh right, NONE! I think it's SCARY how Obama has brainwashed people without informing them of what he would actually DO!

Wow, you really tricked me by saying you're not American and don't even care about this race. HA! Good one. Hillary was in the middle of the whitewater scandal, she takes more $$ from drug and insurance co's than anyone and you expect her to change healthcare?? That will be impossible with the drug and insurance co's being your biggest donors. Good luck with that. You are scared because you see him eating away at her base and she is about to get knocked out in Texas. Better luck in 2016.

it heartens me to see that there are some here capable of their own thoughts and have not subscribed to the Medias creation. It is great that many can see through the shallowness of the Obama campaign and not be duped into a group think of Bush bashing as a reason to elect an inadequate leader. a vote against Bush is not necessarily one for Obama.

Thank you miamiman (from homestead). It warms my heart to hear you dis Obama. Beware Welfare!

I think your observations are right on point. Obama is using his personal charisma to charm voters by appealing to their emotions and playing on the deep-seated sense of frustration that many people have with how our goverment works. Of course we all want "change". Obama's trick is to convice most of us that change is really possible. He doesn't have to have any real posistions. Most people are not listening to the details anyway. They are following a dream. It looks like that will be enough to win him the nomination and, perhaps, the White House. The question is "will people still have that same frustration with how our government works four years after that?" My guess is yes. All of this says a lot about how our political process works in this country. At the root of it all is an electorate that makes largely uninformed choices for a lot of really superficial reasons.

Senator Obama wasn't even on the ballot in Michigan. Why not? Because he plays by the rules. Get your facts straight!

  • Posted By: drljhiggins @ 02/20/2008 11:19:45 AM

Obama realizes that change does not come from one person, not from a 10-point plan (even his own), not from a set of experiences that entrenches a candidate in Washington games. He realizes that change is derived from the bottom-up. He realizes that inspiring people to hope is NOT a delusion. Our voices will help him lead when he is president just as our voices are helping him win the nomination.

With all due respect to all the voices Obama hears, let's hope he keeps our borders safe even if it means not waiting around to hear the voices...

I made a typo and meant to type while in senate not white Noone wants our family and friends to be at war and I feel they need to come home to0, but we have to remember they are there and need our support. I think Mr Obama is a wonderful speaker and is certainly winning the popularity vote with his hollywood friends but are they going to help him run the country or does he plan to do that by hisself.

Even though Im for Hillary and believe Obama will win , and I will vote for Obama becuase The Republicans have gone beyond greed, I do believe that no matter what politician we elect, they ALL should be subject to scrutiny.

  • Posted By: Disgusted by media @ 02/20/2008 11:22:14 AM

To see the media finally critiquing Mr. Obama at this point in the game makes me sick. The media created this man by their lack of objectivity, and now that the train is leaving the station they are finally starting to critique him.

Well hopefully McCain will win in November and then we will have more time to get to know Mr. Obama. Where was this story one year ago when Mr. Obama announced his candidacy and in the year since them.

    • Posted By: Obamaisagoodtalker @ 02/20/2008 11:33:47 AM

It's not easy to critic Obama because he is smart enough to stick with generic language about change and hope instead of anything with substance that may alienate the very people who think he isn't all TALK.

  • Posted By: albertgorejr @ 02/20/2008 11:33:46 AM

"What about Florida and Michigan?" asked Sen Clinton.
"Oh no. They don't count," said Osama.

"I'll get Hillary's voters, but she won't get mine," said Balack.
"Our party will unite behin d the nominee," said Hillary.
Where is fair and who is being divisive?

"blah blah blah," said Sen Obama.

The most important issues for me are the economy, health care, and education. Foreign and domestic policy. But over the past 8 years, the presidency???s only focus has on been terrorism. All other issues that matter to American public during this time, have been terrorized by a lack of funding and directions. America is now at a boiling point, and change is needed???We need a new face, and a fresh outlook. Even if it ???presumed ??? to cosmetic as implied in this article. We need someone who can stand in front of nations and command respect, not because of the threat of withholding foreign aide or embargos. Because we a reflection of the world and it??? people. That despite our troubled pasted and we can still inspire, and lead! We are not the only nation that has been affected by a poor economy; terrorism and war. It???s time we re-join the world and start offering solutions, instead distain
Maybe I too have been fooled by his charisma, but I rather hear powerful words that can inspire, as opposed to dribbled speeches, and lifeless words that only further mask our history and state of being.

Obama, do your party a favor before it's way too late: admit that you are a good talker, who should be a motivational speaker traveling around the country making speeches so people can feel good about themselves, but as much as you TALK (there's that word again) about "change, "hope" etc...which are all great themes, you really represent nothing with substance, which is smart of you at this point because that way you don't run the risk of alienating the very people that think you are deeper than your TALK.

Also, explain to your wife that she should be proud of her country and the freedoms we have all the time, not when it suits HER.

While your racism is showing, it is appropriate that this is black history month. You shoud be reminded of the contributions of those that you think are inferior to you. For instance, an invention that you stop multiple times a day, the stop light. Was created by a black man. The city, that your White House sits in the middle of was planned by a black man. And by the way, Obama is just as much a white as a black man; remember the source od his parentage; White mother, black father. He is therfore a better representation than any of could have hope for. I am ready for change, Why don't you join the rest of in the 21st century.

At last, we have an article which takes an objective look at the OBAMANIA and not just get swayed by the fever! Kudos to Newsweek for this article!! I will never vote for Obama, who in my opinion is "Much Ado about Nothing".

"Smartestmanalive.......your comments displays your level of intelligence or your heightened level of ignorance...is this what the media means when they say that the majority of Clinton's supporters have very little education and are extremely ignorant? This is exactly what Michelle Obama and many of us TRUE AMERICANS mean when we say that we are finally proud of America.....because of such bigotry, hate, discrimination, racism, ignorance and betrayal of jerks like yourself who have a low level of intelligence is exactly what we as Americans are not very proud of...This is why Obama is doing really well because America is ready for a change.....we are tired of old backward minds like yours, your lynches, your segregation, your Jim Crow laws, your Hiltler ideology.....we are TIRED.....Learn how to think outside of the box, this ideology and scare tactics that are used to label us Americans as unpatriotic is no longer working....Get real or get a lfe...

The beef lies in healthcare plan that does not mandate compliance like Hillary's rather it makes it affordable, a foreign policy stance that allows us to be armed at the ready to strike Al Queda rather than being paralyzed by the Iraq War, and reallocating money from the war to ensure that our children receive the education they deserve by eliminating the teaching for a test mentality. Bush years = McCain years = recession. Got it!

I think your way off base. What does Hilary or McCain say any different than Obama. Nothing! It's all smoke and mirrors. I for one do want change because with Clinton or McCain we stay stay on the same old course. I don't believe because you are a war hero that you know how to run the country. i am so tired of the same old rethoric. When did being a war become the know all be all for running the country. What happens when all the war heros are dead and gone. What do we do then? I don't want a President who doesn't understand the econonmy. Because running isn't all about war. As far as Hilary is concerned, I do like her but even her experience is exaggerated and promises are empty when it comes topolitics from all sides. Having some change sure couldn't, hurt since we are such a fanatastic now. LOL

For me, it is not about what the candidate will get done with congress, but rather IF the candidate will get ANYTHING done with congress. I firmly believe that with Clinton and McCain at the helm, the status quo of D.C. will continue and bitter partisanship will continue to stall any progress being made. You can say what you want, but you can not deny the fact that Obama has energized a nation and millions of people to come out and vote in the primaries and caucases. These turnouts are greater than we have ever seen before. He can and will bring people to work across the aisle and he can and will get a nation of brow-beaten and lied to constituents engaged and excited about politics once again(me for example). I am not ignorant enough to believe that he can get everything done, but I am confident that, unlike his competition, he can and will get something done for the American people...and let's face it, that will be a big change.
