I agree - whatever happened to "innocent until proven guilty"? Regardless of what comes of this, Sampson is a great coach and has reminded true "Hoosiers" what Indiana basketball use to be like. Indiana University does need to hold credibility and integrity to the highest level, but I think finishing out the season until Sampson's trial would be honorable. Seems like Myles Brand is sitting in his NCAA office with his hands on the strings of IU again.

A Knight’s Story

When Indiana whipped its biggest rival, Purdue, Tuesday night, Sampson was still on the bench, apparently "day to day" with integrity issues. That's usually a fatal condition. And inevitably the chorus of "Bring back Bobby" is being heard in Bloomington. It would be a wonderful concept if life were just theater, but it's a wretched idea if the university is really supposed to represent some higher values. (The only worse notion I can imagine would be "Bring back Isiah," though New York Knicks fans would be eternally indebted.) What Indiana needs now is somebody who can bring back the standards for the program that Knight extolled while, unlike Knight, behaving in a manner that reflects the same values. How sad it is that in major college athletics these days that seems such a difficult prescription to fill.
