Comment: Besides Change, which no one supporting him can figure out what that means, aside from shouting about it. Isn't he supposed to have good judgement? Come clean. Obama's friends are not really something that can be brought out in public. Farrakhan, Wright, Rezko, Anuchi. Yes , I would think judgement is out the window. Now how about talking in your own words, gone too. Having you own political positions, well he's borrowed Hillary's. Give me some time, there must be something Obama's done. Oh yes, yes, he can raise money. Well, taking money from zealots wouldn't really be something to be proud of either.

Comment: Obama doesn't respect our flag, he's affiliated with a hateful person of the jews, so why does he want to be president? He says he's for the poor, yet he supports a slumlord like Rezko. Put people up in his units of decay and mold and mildew. Do the rest of you Obama followers disrespect the flag as well? Are you that insensitive to the less unfortunate? The queen is still trying to find ways to bring America out of the abyss its been in for the last 8 years. She is losing yet she finds time to develop a plan to help our impoverished children. And I have viewed youtube, the debates, and I don't think Obama believes in God. He believes in something though. Like Louis Farrakhan? Rezko? ( according to chicago tribune he's been passing favorable letters).

Comment: Can someone please enlighten me and tell me if any of Obama's speeches ever end with "God bless America"? I'm not sure if I heard him or not. Maybe that would stop the religious inuendos if he is indeed christian as we know christianity to be. Otherwise havng been a follower of Louis Farakhan, (please forgive me if I spelled his name wrong) who believes in the destruction of the United States, if this is true, isn't that like sending the cows to slaughter?
I know you should never mix religion and politics yet every other candidate has always made referrence to the loyalties of the United States as one nation under God.
I guess like marketingtruth has been trying to tell us, think and look at the facts. Read this read that and when we do it gets scarier and scarier. Where are we heading?

Comment: With all this uncertainty of he does, he doesn't, how about sending me to a link that undeniably shows him stating God bless America or better yet, how about his Senator inauguration. The only religion I have read him having is the same affiliation with Louis Farrakkhan. You know the one who hates white people and wants to destroy the United States? By the way, that is one job he's very good at, I must say.

        • Posted By: bluethunder1962 @ 02/25/2008 10:04:28 PM

Comment: Si nce you don't really want to know what his message is, all you had to do was Google and find out he says, God Bless all the time. I heard him say this in the debate last Thursday. As, I said, either get a TV or get a computer. Well, I forgot you have a computer so you could find this stuff out if you wanted. But, you don't. You just want to peddle hate. Good luck with living with you.

          • Posted By: Jrmapu @ 02/28/2008 11:55:31 PM

Comment: I don't peddle hate. I think there is a lot of issues and Obama is opened to interpretation. I taped the debate, didn't see it on there. I visited youtube, none there either. So maybe you are the hater. Oh wait a minute, you are voting for a person of color so that doesn't make you a hater. If I felt Obama can bring the country together and deliver his message of hope and change, I would jump on that bandwagon. I'm not that naive. I know he has no experience and no clue how to run a country. What are you getting for your vote? I know he uses other peoples words. The same words his good friend gave to him. It worked for his friend but his friend hasn't even delivered. Why are you so against a woman president? Hillary is more innovative and can bring the country together. At least she is concerned about our elderly. NAFTA and Iraq is a moot point. Her healthcare is great, her economy package will help America help themselves out of this mess, and now with all the distractions she has come up with a plan to help impoverish children. No other person I know would put themself out there and take the time to continue finding ways to bring our country out of the depth of an abyss we are currently in. I can say one thing positive about Obama's last debate he looked much better prepared than in other debates. I was impressed. That still doesn't mean he's ready. I am probably more openminded then you.

  • Posted By: Jrmapu @ 02/24/2008 2:44:32 PM

Comment: I just had an interesting conversation with a friend of mine. We both have our opinions. He wants Obama because he is tired of the Bush/Clinton/Bush era and Hillary's position on the NAFTA vote and the Iraq war. Well she may have voted to fund the support of the troops but Obama supported the extension of NAFTA allowing the process of hispanic laborers being allowed overtime when our country is dealing with layoffs. Also I think why the democrats is continually being elluded the White House is because they are thinking short term, not long term. An Obama/Clinton tincket will doom the democrats. I know that. A Clinton/Obama ticket will bring hope of the future. This is the difference between a 4 to 8 year run or a 8 to 16 year run. Especially with Ralph Nader running again. Obama has attract voters 2 to 1 only because no one wants a Clinton. Throw Nader into the mix, the playing field is leveled. Democrats may be left out in the cold again. Another food for thought.

Comment: As a nation we have endured 20 years of ups and downs. The only difference is, the ups was when Bill Clinton was in office. We were prosperous and no one was trying to kill us or mocking our current President as America's greatest failure. I do agree we need change because the problems were not here only the last 20 years but the last 2008 years. Think about it, the males have been engaging our country in wars since the inception of the United States.
We finally have women on the Supreme Court, the speaker of the house is a woman, women have positions of authority and they are doing a GREAT job.
Its time for male dominance to step aside and allow a woman to lead the United States. Its not too late to do the right thing and vote for a woman who's voice is our voice. She knows the problems and can make the changes we need currently not down the road. I don't want to wait another 4 years while Obama learns how to use his fast pace brain to voice what we the people need.
Her healthcare plan is solid, her foreign affairs skills are sharp, her economy plan is great to guide the US out of the recession we are slowly plummeting to, she uses her voice to fight for human rights, she has a plan to bring the troops home , and her experienced leadership skills are what America needs NOW. Its not too late to vote for the First Woman President who is more than qualified to lead this country to greatness. Remember the major states are Texas, Ohio, and Pennsylvania because they are the rich delegate states. But every state is a rich delegate state for Hillary Rodham Clinton.
Every young girl will have hope to become what many women have been trying to do for years, prove they are worthy of position in a male dominant society .
It is time for change but we need solutions so change can happen.

Comment: Should Obama become the nomination, he will be elected. The numbers dictate that. Obama has generated voters 2 to 1. He will get those votes plus some of Hillary and Edwards supporters. McCain will not be able to stop the vote. There is not that many republican voters. Unless the Republicans can show that they have more of the voting data base, Obama is it. I am a Hillary supporter and will cross the lines because Obama is not ready. But bit even my vote will stop Obama. I will have to wait 4 more years for everything to turn around. Or at least attempt to turn around. Too much authority on one side tend to be unassuring of equality. The democrats may not be able to see clearly and will lose sight. Everyone will want things to be done thier way.

He is a hypocrit allowing dirty politics that he himself said he was against. The Obamacans are voting Hillary out because and Barack said it himself, Hillary would make a fine leader of this country. Getting to there is a battle for Hillary. Odds are stacked against her. The republicans do not want to go up against her, that would seal their fate of obtaing the White House. At least with Obama, they have a chance and throw Nader into the mix, its more than possible.

Comment: Times columnist Andres writes. He adds that, "despite her reassuring rhetoric" that her health care proposal is not a "government takeover" and contains no "new bureaucracy," Clinton proposes to "use the heavy hand of government" to require all residents to obtain health insurance. Her "near-religious zeal to force universal coverage strikes some as odd," Andres writes, adding, "Why compel someone to buy something he or she can't afford?" According to Andres, the "financial penalties for those who fail to purchase insurance ... stirs significant opposition," and Clinton "opened a political can of worms" when she said that she might seek to garnish the wages of residents who can afford health insurance but do not obtain coverage. "Improving health care is a salient bread-and-butter election issue this year," Andres writes, adding, "Compelling everyone to buy a product, whether he wants it or not ... sounds more like a mandate for defeat than a promise of political success" (Andres, Washington Times, 2/14)

Comment: In California the law requires that every driver have car insurance. When I write that check I am convinced that my money could be used someone better because I can't afford it. She has the right idea. You have to demand it or it is not going to happen. We are humans and we will try to not do something unless we are told to do it. People would drive 100 miles per hour if there was no 565 signs posted everywhere to remind of the limit.e Making health insurance voluntary is not universal health siurance.

The same old "tax and spend" proposals that are being rejected by every growing economy in the world.Center left governments from Chile to Ireland to India are reducing taxes and dergulating.Even the communist Chinese have gone that way.But Obama wants to take us back to the failed economic ideas of the 1960's and 70's and dress it up as "change".Well it might be a "change" but it sure ain't progress.
Oprah should give him a tv show.He could be a cross between Dr.Phil and Tony Robbins.

Comment: The republicans can say differently but they would prefer to go up against Hillary than Obama. Hillary has no secure bases that Obama hasnt cut into including the traditional blue collar democratic base. He on the other hand has bases that she hasnt cut into. Obama is also doing well with independents something that cuts into McCain's base. Obama is also more of a contrast of the past Vs the future than Hillary would be. Obama can motivate voters to get them to the poll. And its not motivating republicans to come and vote for McCain. Hillary they know in and out. They dont know Obama because the stuff that they are saying about him is mispresenting or outright lying. Kind of like Hillary. Hillary is so convinced that he has no substance that she is starting to believe it too and at that debate he basically showed her that he is both style and substance and quite frankly when he listed off his accomplishments talk about his policies she looked quite silly.

She keep underestimating her opponent and I notice that McCain is doing that too saying Obama is some idealistic dreamer. If thats all you think he is you are in trouble. The first rule of competition KNOW your opponent.

Comment: Have you heard of karma? You just might get what you asked for. I have lived long enough to see many a rooster come home to roost. Clintons are not perfect but no human is. I work with the homeless and all of you that have jobs ect be thankful. You are all just one major health problem, or one job loss away. We have forgotten from whence we have come. No matter what you say about Bill, the budget was balanced. And as has been pointed out we, women are for the most part good at that. We are also good at caring. So it may be up to the "hand that rocks the cradle" to come to the rescue. Women solve their problems for the most part by non violent means not by playing games in the WAR ROOM. However don't attack our families or you have a tigress on your hands. We are 50%+ of the population. It is time for us to say enough is enough. The male population has been playing war games with our young people long enough. Seemingly with no regrets. I have a vested interest in the service. It is time to get out.

By the way I do have a college degree. Not that I think that makes one smarter. We had better use our heads as my grandmother was fond of saying. This is a very dangerous time in our history and made more so because of some stupid moves by some males in our mist. Time for a woman to take the reigns to try to straighten out the mess.

  • Posted By: Jrmapu @ 02/23/2008 12:00:12 PM

Comment: I just realize something. If Obama gets the nomination he may not be on a political demise. He has been attracting numbers of first time voters. i don't think McCain can beat that. On the other hand he will have a better shot agianst the hated Hillarybecause the Obama supporters will not vote at all because Obama won't be there. the numbers will then be more of the past numbers. Food for thought especially for the republicans.
This election just got more intriguing.

  • Posted By: Billary....NOT @ 02/23/2008 11:47:47 AM

The point is, we Republicans are going to stop her from even having a chance to be president. It is truly a beautiful thing and the ultimate political revenge.

Comment: I never understood people who insist on calling Hillary Billary. Her name is Hillary. Yes she was married to Bill but she is her own person. She has her own thoughts. and beliefs. This election what I learned is that sexism has become acceptable in this country. Some people would rather have a dog as president then a human with a vagina They b elieve that a woman is not able to govern this country unless she has a husband to help her. How sad for America.

Comment: Sad but true. Obama is being led to the political slaughterhouse. All because closed minded people cannot fathom that a woman can do the job. And not just any woman but Hillary Rodham Clinton. Oh well its America's loss. Woman are known peacemakers. We have the experience. Just look at our track records, we can balance a budget to ensure our family has enough to eat and a roof over our head, we're the chauffeurs, the cheerleader, the bacon provider, and the peacemakers. We have a great resume.

But people can see them self the truth ! They are smarter as so many unqualified press agents , which forget the De-ontological Code. Almost all electronic poles are distorted with no shame ! Only the Gallup pole is the most credible one !!!...What we have to do in this situation ?! We have to show a vehement protest ! We have to enterprise a full boycott into the future against all this press and media TV, which practicing with no respect a real prostitution of the words !! My concern, the pres will become a little bit credible and will be again a "free speech", only the Oprah's billion of Dollars will gone into the Hell !!!...

Not in this economy unless they are oil tycoons.

Comment: Let's face the facts. Whitemen do not like Hillary Clinton, and Washington is overwhelmingly comprised of white men. Let's not be naive. Even if she had the best strategies, if she were elected President, we would see legislative polarization the likes of which we have never seen before. The extent of the gridlock would be so great that none of her plans would ever see fruition. During her administration, we wouldn't progress very far from where we are right now.

    • Posted By: Jrmapu @ 02/23/2008 10:50:27 AM

Comment: That is a true fact about the whitemen not liking a woman for president. As for not making progress, never underestimate the power of a woman. They have been known for centuries of keeping the peace and making things work,. Thats what we do best. Why do you think the women are the ones to carry single households and raise thier children? We have been given those challenges all our lives.

In the general election star power is not going to cut it and I "hope" that the superdelagates do what they are there for. Otherwise we will end up with another republican administration.

The Soma that is Obama's speeches are great to get people to vote.. for that I applaud him. I feel that the majority of americans really don't care about politics but are enamored with Obama because of his rockstar like personality. Does that mean Hannah Montana should be his VP? She would mobilize the 'tweens to have their parents vote for VP Cyrus.

Comment: America wake up. Look up the Clinton's net worth. 50 million/ Won't release tax returns. But hillary knows how all these poor Americans feel. Look how her campaign has squandered money on fancy foods and fancy hotels and when her campaign gets low she pulls out 5 million of her own money until the next big Pac contribution. Or she gives a heartwarming plagarized Bill Clinton and Edwards speech at the last. Come on America and see this wealthy, well connected establishment Washington politician for who she is, Hillary Clinton is not like you and me and never will be. That is why she can't connect with the American people. This is the same old politics sa usual. Obam is the only way to go.

Which you would occupy with others who are not ordinary either.
Because they would be the opposite of ordinary. They would be EXTRAORDINARY.
      That's how I like my presidents.Extraordinary not ordinary.In presidencies that's called "greatness."

The difference this time is that Hillary knows that .She learned from those mistakes. And make no mistake about that- she's a tough lady. That's why she voted for the Iraq war.Sorry fellow democrats, but it's a much tougher and more complex world out there than many of you realize.

He supports 2nd amendament rights AND the right of local govt. to ban all personal guns.Even Giuliani couldn't get out from under that one.
Obama's going to balance the budget AND boost spending on big public works projects, healthcare and revamping the military.
He's going to lower taxes by raising them.
He's going to quit fighting our enemies in Iraq but send the troops in against Pakistan,an ally
and a politically fragile nuclear power.
He loves the global economy but wants to impose trade restrictions.
Democrats may forgive these glaring contradictions in the primaries but comes the fall the republicans will destroy him with it.Carl Rove will be advising McCain and he's as ruthless as he is effective..
In a general election Obama will get killed by this doublespeak. And the minute he gets rattled, just one time, his "TV persona" will evaporate.
He'll go down like George Mcgovern.

    I agree.
The journalists are throwing both candidates softball questions.
I think that's because they don't want to make the candidates squirm and know that Democrat voters are bored by policy discussions anyway.
But the result will be a candidate who,in the presidential debates, will get their clock cleaned by an old pro like McCain.
Underestimating Mccain would be a big mistake. He has the "gravitas" thing down pat. He's very funny and excellent on TV.He's been on Leno and Lettermans' show repeatedly, cultivating an excellent style on TV.Letterman loves the guy and Dave is no conservative.McCain is a genuine war hero and independants have always liked him.The fact that McCain is regarded as a "maverick" by ultra conservatives will work FOR him in the general election.
And unlike Bush,McCain is an excellent speaker.

He keep saying he will pull troops out of Iraq and that will FORCE the Iraqi government to take over. But what if they're not ready? Demos have been suggesting that idea for years now and it's a non-starter.Because that would mean abandoning Iraq before the Iraqi's ar ready and that would be a disaster.
His pledge to run,hat-in-hand to every dictator and make peace is laughably naive or viciously dishonest.Just another Jimmy Carter fantasy. It was Carter's totally failed "hat-in-hand" deal with N.Korea that resulted in them going forward with their nuclear weapons program.
That situation has improved only because Bush insisted on multi-party negotiations, including the Chinese and now N.Korea is co-operating.Diplomacy requires toughness not a gentle image as Obama implies.

Comment: And he came across as condesending male. It is amazing that we see only what we want to see. This is not a beauty contest folks. We are electing the leader of the free world. I am increasingly concerned about the press and the influence it has on the thinking of the american people. The title of this article is a prime example. If you didn't watch the debate you would think by the headline that Obama was somehow the victor. I don't think so. It was a good evening for the listeners. They got to hear some of the issues for a change. Words do make a difference and it is not only politicans who use them. We have had some very good examples of people who were able to cause people to follow them by their command of the language. Some even have taken over countries and attempted to take over the world. We need to make sure we know who it is that we are following and why. When I see some of the anger being stirred by the press and others I wonder where we are heading. There was a govenor recently who threatened on one of the talk shows on Sunday that if his choice didn't get the nod there would be riots. I think it is time for everyone to step back and take a deep breath. It also is time for the press to start reporting the news. not making it.

Comment: Thats nice. The only problem with that scenario is that putting Hillary second means women are second class citizens. Obama would make a great President some day, just not this day. He needs more experience to deal with the real big dogs of the political race. He is so unsure of himself that he continued to vote present and would not take a stand on issues of importance. His healthcare plan punishes poor parents if they don't get insurance for thier children. That tells volumes about his past positions. If he took stands and truly implemented healthcare for children in his state he would have been able to better prepare for the healthcare issue. Obama has alot to learn. Healthcare and economy should come natural for him when presented in a public forum.

Comment: The leaders of both the Republican and Democratic Parties are moving us closer and closer to Socialism, away from our Constitution (the true Test of American Patriotism). Both major parties pushed through the Patriot Act (a direct violation of our civil liberties) allowing the Federal government (and the lawmakers) greater access in to our personal lives. We have welfare, medicare, and medicaid, all basically federal government subsidies for Americans as a socialist distribution of wealth and commodities. Then, we have the continuation of undeclared War (a direct violation of our Constitution), allowing the President (or socialist leader) the ability to unilaterally decide whether our country (our Americans) go fight in another country using military resources and costing volunteer military lives.
The very core values of America that the founding fathers of our country laid out for us are being destroyed, and our nation is moving in a perilous direction. The American people need to Wake up from their Slumber, and start helping educate their fellow Americans that we are not Socialists, but in fact we are a Nation of Patriots (people who live by and die for civil liberty as well as individual rights).
Our country sorely needs a third party that will rejuvinate and unify the 40% of Americans that usually don't vote, to overcome the two party system of the Socialist Democrats and Socialist Republicans. Individuals always care for other individuals through charity and good deeds, the Federal government steals from individuals to line the pockets of the Corporations and maintain power for itself, leaving whatever remains recycled back to the American people.
Stop sleep walking into Socialism --- Wake up and fight for our Founding Fathers core values of freedom and equality for all! Freedom from the Federal government intervention! Freedom from excessive taxation!

    Obama, Clinton, McCain, Huckabee --
    1. All voted to continue funding the Iraq War.
    2. All support "comprehensive immigration reform" -- Washington speak for Amnesty for illegal aliens. They want their big corporation buddies to be happy now don't they with their cheap labor. Meanwhile we pay higher taxes to offset the burden that would put on Social security, Medicare, Medicaid, Welfare. If you subsidize something you get more of it, the more we subsidize illegal immigration the more we will get of it, and the more illegal alien families will be affected and hurt.
    3. All wish to enact some socialist program or another for the "greater good" -- Translation, we want you to pay higher taxes so we (the federal government) can spend it in the way that benefits our special interest group. Obama (Health care insurance companies), Clinton ( Pharmaceuticals), McCain (Military industrial complex including all military corporations), Huckabee (Military industrial complex).
    4. All are for reforming Washington and ridding it of government and lobbyist control (well so they say).
    5. All support the Patriot Act (a direct violation of our civil liberties)

Comment: i am an African American who has been a supporter of Barack Obama since the moment he entered this race for president. I resonate particularly with the message of change that he espouses. Many people are hungry for a new direction after eight years of a meanspiritedness that has permeated not just our politics but the very fiber of our society. Words do matter. Words gave birth to our Nation. Words spoken by a president lifted this Nation from the agony and bitterness of a civil war. I think Obama touches a hunger in all Americans to be the kind of Nation that the framers of the Constitution hoped for, fought and died for. This is more than a dream but a vision that has the possibility of making us a better people and a better Nation

Comment: I do feel that Hillary or Obama stand for what America is all about. We need health care for everyone in this country, not just for the privilaged. VOTE HILLARY or OBAMA to return America to the people.

Comment: People who complain that Barack Obama lacks experience must be unaware of his legislative achievements. One reason these accomplishments are unfamiliar is that the media have not devoted enough attention to Obama's bills and the effort required to pass them, ignoring impressive, hard evidence of his character and ability.

Since most of Obama's legislation was enacted in Illinois, most of the evidence is found there -- and it has been largely ignored by the media in a kind of Washington snobbery that assumes state legislatures are not to be taken seriously. (Another factor is reporters' fascination with the horse race at the expense of substance that they assume is boring, a fascination that despite being ridiculed for years continues to dominate political journalism.)

I am a rarity among Washington journalists in that I have served in a state legislature. I know from my time in the West Virginia legislature that the challenges faced by reform-minded state representatives are no less, if indeed not more, formidable than those encountered in Congress. For me, at least, trying to deal with those challenges involved as much drama as any election. And the "heart and soul" bill, the one for which a legislator gives everything he or she has to get passed, has long told me more than anything else about a person's character and ability.

Comment: Funny how Hillary plagerized John Edwards at the end of the debate. John Edwards had more substance than Hillary or Obama.

Comment: Comment: Comment: Hillary Clinton Goofs Again
    A Commentary by Dick Morris

Who was it that defined neurosis as repeating the same mistake again and again, and expecting a better outcome each time? That???s really what the Clinton campaign is doing in its post-Chesapeake primary strategy. Now Hillary defines Obama as the candidate who makes speeches, while she is the one who provides ???answers??? and ???solutions.???

Why is Hillary embracing this new line? It???s not that she has any great record of solutions or answers of which to boast, but rather that she wants to highlight Obama???s lack of a legislative record. Once again, she and her campaign geniuses are making the same mistake they made when they decided to use the experience as their defining difference with Obama. It???s not that she had much, but they sensed an opportunity to highlight that he had even less.
Of course experience not only didn???t work. It backfired massively. By co-opting the experience tag, Hillary bought into the status quo and left Obama to be the agent of change. A candidacy that could have excited tens of millions of women, the first serious prospect of a female president, became merely a boring part of the status quo, shorn of its novelty.

Hillary???s claim to be the solution-person won???t work either for the same simple reason: She hasn???t passed any...she hasn???t walked the walk so now she cannot talk the talk.

As a first lady, Hillary???s sole important legislative involvement came during the first two years of her husband???s presidency when she sought to pass her ill-conceived health care reform, an effort that failed so miserably that it cost her party control of the House of Representatives for the first time in 40 years. Between 1995 to 1997, she was largely absent from the White House, traveling the world, promoting her best selling book and helping to raise funds. She never attended strategy meetings and her only intervention in the singular legislativ
