The republicans can say differently but they would prefer to go up against Hillary than Obama. Hillary has no secure bases that Obama hasnt cut into including the traditional blue collar democratic base. He on the other hand has bases that she hasnt cut into. Obama is also doing well with independents something that cuts into McCain's base. Obama is also more of a contrast of the past Vs the future than Hillary would be. Obama can motivate voters to get them to the poll. And its not motivating republicans to come and vote for McCain. Hillary they know in and out. They dont know Obama because the stuff that they are saying about him is mispresenting or outright lying. Kind of like Hillary. Hillary is so convinced that he has no substance that she is starting to believe it too and at that debate he basically showed her that he is both style and substance and quite frankly when he listed off his accomplishments talk about his policies she looked quite silly.

She keep underestimating her opponent and I notice that McCain is doing that too saying Obama is some idealistic dreamer. If thats all you think he is you are in trouble. The first rule of competition KNOW your opponent.

Have you heard of karma? You just might get what you asked for. I have lived long enough to see many a rooster come home to roost. Clintons are not perfect but no human is. I work with the homeless and all of you that have jobs ect be thankful. You are all just one major health problem, or one job loss away. We have forgotten from whence we have come. No matter what you say about Bill, the budget was balanced. And as has been pointed out we, women are for the most part good at that. We are also good at caring. So it may be up to the "hand that rocks the cradle" to come to the rescue. Women solve their problems for the most part by non violent means not by playing games in the WAR ROOM. However don't attack our families or you have a tigress on your hands. We are 50%+ of the population. It is time for us to say enough is enough. The male population has been playing war games with our young people long enough. Seemingly with no regrets. I have a vested interest in the service. It is time to get out.

By the way I do have a college degree. Not that I think that makes one smarter. We had better use our heads as my grandmother was fond of saying. This is a very dangerous time in our history and made more so because of some stupid moves by some males in our mist. Time for a woman to take the reigns to try to straighten out the mess.

I just realize something. If Obama gets the nomination he may not be on a political demise. He has been attracting numbers of first time voters. i don't think McCain can beat that. On the other hand he will have a better shot agianst the hated Hillarybecause the Obama supporters will not vote at all because Obama won't be there. the numbers will then be more of the past numbers. Food for thought especially for the republicans.
This election just got more intriguing.

Sad but true. Obama is being led to the political slaughterhouse. All because closed minded people cannot fathom that a woman can do the job. And not just any woman but Hillary Rodham Clinton. Oh well its America's loss. Woman are known peacemakers. We have the experience. Just look at our track records, we can balance a budget to ensure our family has enough to eat and a roof over our head, we're the chauffeurs, the cheerleader, the bacon provider, and the peacemakers. We have a great resume.

Exactly! We Republicans know that voting for Obama is the final nail in the politcal coffin for Billary. The best part is, the democrats cannot stop us from doing so in Texas or Ohio. It is the ultimate political move. If you are Republican - VOTE OBAMA!!!! See ya Billary.

    • Posted By: GTX13 @ 02/23/2008 11:18:06 AM

YOU ARE WRING MY FRIEND; SO CALLED "FINAL NAIL IN THE POLITICAL COFFIN" FOR HILLARY WILL A VERTABLE "NAIL IN THE OBAMA"S POLITICAL COFFIN" !!! WHY ?? Because me and all Hillary's supporters, all Republicans and some Independents, will vote for McCain, a real American Hero and a great politician ! Obama will be just "a poor chicken" fighting with "the heavy weight political lions" !!! The Oprah's billion Dollars will become "the peanuts" in comparison of thousand of billion Dollars contest ! Kapisky my friend !!!

  • Posted By: GTX13 @ 02/23/2008 10:58:03 AM

On the last debate Hillary was so far the best ! In vain some news makers show incompetence and finally ...liars and hypocrites. They are using the same old fashioned communist methods and even stupid bull*** tricks ! They dis-consider the readers and viewers ! They compromise them self for a couple of "silver coins". But people can see them self the truth ! They are smarter as so many unqualified press agents , which forget the De-ontological Code. Almost all electronic poles are distorted with no shame ! Only the Gallup pole is the most credible one !!!...What we have to do in this situation ?! We have to show a vehement protest ! We have to enterprise a full boycott into the future against all this press and media TV, which practicing with no respect a real prostitution of the words !! My concern, the pres will become a little bit credible and will be again a "free speech", only the Oprah's billion of Dollars will gone into the Hell !!!...

Let's face the facts. Whitemen do not like Hillary Clinton, and Washington is overwhelmingly comprised of white men. Let's not be naive. Even if she had the best strategies, if she were elected President, we would see legislative polarization the likes of which we have never seen before. The extent of the gridlock would be so great that none of her plans would ever see fruition. During her administration, we wouldn't progress very far from where we are right now.

    • Posted By: Jrmapu @ 02/23/2008 10:50:27 AM

That is a true fact about the whitemen not liking a woman for president. As for not making progress, never underestimate the power of a woman. They have been known for centuries of keeping the peace and making things work,. Thats what we do best. Why do you think the women are the ones to carry single households and raise thier children? We have been given those challenges all our lives.

  • Posted By: Jrmapu @ 02/23/2008 10:45:22 AM

A vote against "Billary" is a vote for the republicans. Republicans want an inexperience Obama to debate and dig because they really want the White House. I'm not fooled. If I remember correctly lots of republicans prospered in the Clinton years, or did they forget? Are the republicans better off today than they were in the Clinton years? Not in this economy unless they are oil tycoons.

Don't discount the support Obama is going to get.

It's sad that Hillary blasts Obama with the "Xerox" comment, but picked up a couple of her standing ovations from lines taken from Edwards ("We'll be okay") and her husband ("I've taken hits in this campaign"). Both are on YouTube - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oJ7Cs3QvT3U.

  • Posted By: Grandma B @ 02/23/2008 10:18:31 AM

Sad but true and he will get creamed in the general election. Karl Rove has no intention of letting a democrate win. Bush's war must be carried on and McCain will do that.

  • Posted By: mksl1 @ 02/23/2008 12:56:08 AM

    Obama says-
He's going to lower taxes by raising them.
He supports the global economy but he wants to impose trade barriers.
He supports 2nd amendment rights but says govt. should be allowed to ban all personal guns.
He'll abandon the fight against our enemies in Iraq but bomb our allies in Pakistan.
He'll spend to make the military stronger and give everybody health care and also balance the budget.
Is anybody actually LISTENING to this guy's double-speak or is it all about his motivational speaking style and telegenic qualities? Is his support based entirely on his tv image?
Because if that's the case Oprah should just give him Dr.Phil's slot.
Because so far Obama appears to make a great talk shoe host but a lousy leader.

    • Posted By: GTX13 @ 02/23/2008 10:15:20 AM

He's full of contradictions ! I don't know why there are so many naive, when Mr. Obama, himself, doesn't believe what he said ?!...

  • Posted By: Billary....NOT @ 02/23/2008 9:38:06 AM

In Texas, Republicans are lining up by the thousands in early voting for Obama. A vote for Obama is a vote against Billary!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Posted By: Grandma B @ 02/23/2008 8:20:59 AM

Not when you have republicans crossing over to get rid of the strongest candidate. This has Carl Rove's footprints all over. He did so well that he is ending up with McCain on the ticket. I'd really like to know who is the power behind Obama. In the general election star power is not going to cut it and I "hope" that the superdelagates do what they are there for. Otherwise we will end up with another republican administration.

I find it interesting that some some latino voters feel clinton is there best choice. When there plight is no different than other people of color. they have border issues, becoming legal citizens, and they want health care and goverment aid as well while being undocumented. Tell me who in the political race will help make change for them? Other than OBAMA check out the history people. You will be concidered and are concidered the new you know what on the block its already there. They think you dont belong here! I support
you because your already here this is supposed to be a country for all people. At the same time this is america not mexico if it were so good in mexico you would not be here! So lets get together as a people and make a change!

    • Posted By: lawyer4you @ 02/23/2008 8:16:17 AM

thats the best comment ive seen on here this is not mexico and if americas not ready for the obama movement get ready because if clinton get in office the mexican people will take over our country .Im so sick og going into store in my country and everything is in spainish the gop dont care because of dirt cheap labor and clinton will not change this .We r no longer a strong power we r becoming a country of mexicans they cant get car insurance but they still drive everyday and if they kill one of our kids they can run to mexico we need 2 think this out before we allow them here just 4 dirt cheap labor

Cha Cha Cha Change is in the air for America and the rest of the world is happy

  • Posted By: hope-3 @ 02/23/2008 6:06:01 AM

Americans more than ever are taking a bigger interest in politics this season and I would like to think it is because of hillary clinton's candidancy, but lets face it it's mostly because barack obama is still standing.I'm also proud of the fact that many americans seem to want a candidate who is not competely connected to washington D.C. A well run campaign is ususally a good indicator of how the candidate will run his/her office.

  • Posted By: mksl1 @ 02/23/2008 2:00:10 AM

Democrats are foolish to think the general election campaign will be like the primaries. It will be very different indeed. The niceities will end.Obama would be subject to much tougher questions. And he's been contradicting himself all over the place.
He supports 2nd amendament rights AND the right of local govt. to ban all personal guns.Even Giuliani couldn't get out from under that one.
Obama's going to balance the budget AND boost spending on big public works projects, healthcare and revamping the military.
He's going to lower taxes by raising them.
He's going to quit fighting our enemies in Iraq but send the troops in against Pakistan,an ally
and a politically fragile nuclear power.
He loves the global economy but wants to impose trade restrictions.
Democrats may forgive these glaring contradictions in the primaries but comes the fall the republicans will destroy him with it.Carl Rove will be advising McCain and he's as ruthless as he is effective..
In a general election Obama will get killed by this doublespeak. And the minute he gets rattled, just one time, his "TV persona" will evaporate.
He'll go down like George Mcgovern.

    • Posted By: Jrmapu @ 02/23/2008 2:12:20 AM

I did notice the doublespeak and the empty promises. Anyone who is older than 30 knows all the struggles of the last 12 of 20 years. Elect Obama and we will be there for another 4 more years. He has no clue how to find the solutions to the changes he wants to make.

      • Posted By: Zombiehero @ 02/23/2008 3:38:51 AM

Yeah but isn't he hugely popular with the young generation wouldn't remember the last 20 years and have never heard of McGovern? Think about how bad our current education system is.

  • Posted By: old scout @ 02/22/2008 3:15:34 PM

There are lots of scary comments and lots of stupid ones on this bpard. Calling Obama a "yard ape" is about as base an example of racism I have seen so far during this campaign. And complaining that the Univision anchorman began most of his questions in Spanish is just about the stupidest whine I have heard so far. The man works for Univision which is one of the largest TV networks in the world and is a Spanish speaking network and was one of the sponsors of the debate.. I guess the ignoramus who posted that gem is too ignorant to realize that.

As for the debate itself, I thought it was a draw. Hillary had a standing ovation for her closing remark, but she also got booed for attacking Obama with her wise crack about "xerox change." I thought Obama's best point was that he will be in a better position to debate McCain on the war in Iraq because he opposed it from the beginning while Hillary did not. She has not yet admitted that she was wrong and McCain will make her look like she is waffling on the whole subject.

My biggest worry about Obama is that there is still so much active racism in this country that I fear that many white Democrats will abandon their party rather than vote for a black man and sacrifice this country to four more years of disastrous Republican rule under McCain who has no new ideas at all and is fine with the militaristic approach to foreign policy.

    • Posted By: Shadoe01 @ 02/22/2008 4:52:54 PM

It is not about abandoning the party it is about experience!

      • Posted By: LVNV @ 02/22/2008 6:33:30 PM

Unfortunately, I know a lot of Democrats that will vote for John McCain if Obama is the Dem nominee. It's not about race....it's about experience.

For anyone that doesn't think Obama has any legislative successes, read this from the unequivicolly UNBIASED Factcheck.org ("http://www.factcheck.org/elections-2008/clinton-obama_pillow_fight.html):

"As for Obama???s list of his accomplishments, he???s right on every count. A Washington Post editorial credited Obama for helping to create "the strongest ethics legislation to emerge from Congress yet," and the Coburn-Obama Act created a new Web site, USAspending.gov, which allows anyone to see where federal contracting and grant money is being spent. Moreover, it was an Obama-sponsored amendment that ended Walter Reed's practice of requiring outpatient military personnel to pay for their own meals. And as a state senator in Illinois, Obama championed a bill requiring the police to videotape prisoner interrogations. Although initially controversial, the measure passed the Senate unanimously; even Republicans conceded that the turnaround was largely Obama???s doing. Finally, while Obama didn???t mention this one, we think it???s worth noting that the Lugar-Obama non-proliferation initiative provided funds for destroying nuclear weapons and for intercepting weapons of mass destruction. In short, Clinton is wrong to suggest that Obama lacks a substantive legislative record."

Then go to: http://obama.senate.gov/ -- go to ???On the Issues???. It is clear that Obama works hard, has been active in policy and is a natural leader.

          • Posted By: Zombiehero @ 02/23/2008 3:31:42 AM

Keep reading factcheck... don't just gloss over it.. you will see:
Obama used an outdated and probably inflated figure to support his argument that Clinton's "mandated" health care plan would exempt a large number who currently lack insurance.

Obama falsely claimed, again, that Bill Clinton's labor secretary said his health care plan reduced costs more than his opponent's
Obama said "we have seen hate crimes skyrocket" because of the immigration debate. Actually, FBI figures show a 10.3 percent increase in anti-Hispanic incidents, and the most recent number is lower than it was in 2001.
Obama tried to cast doubt on his ranking as the "most liberal" senator in 2007 by the nonpartisan National Journal. But he cherry-picked the vote he cited ??? one of 99 analyzed by the magazine ??? to make the ratings appear illogical to the casual listener. The other votes were more intuitive flashpoints between liberals and conservatives
Obama boasted of his Latino support in Illinois and Iowa ??? not mentioning that he won a much smaller share of the Illinois Latino vote in this year's presidential primary than in his 2004 Senate primary, or that there are exceedingly few Latinos in Iowa.
Obama claimed Democratic voter turnout has doubled in "every single election that we've had so far in this [nominating] contest." Not true. It doubled in only two. In New Hampshire the turnout increased by 30 percent.

Obama misleadingly said corporate tax loopholes totaled $1 trillion. That figure is an estimate for a 10-year period and includes items such as low-income housing tax credits and tax-free bonds for state and local governments.

Obama mischaracterized Clinton's earlier statements on driver's licenses for illegal aliens, saying, "You said you were for it. Then you said you were against it." Actually she avoided giving a yes-or-no answer in one debate, then made clear she opposed the idea.
An Obama mailer stretches the differences between the candidates on health care. Specifically:
It touts measures included in Obama's plan to help low-income individuals buy insurance but fails to mention that Clinton would provide similar financial assistance.
It says Obama's plan would save the average family $2,500 per year ??? an estimate provided by experts at the campaign's request ??? but doesn't say that Clinton estimates hers will save $2,200 per year.

It also neglects to point out that Clinton's plan isn't the only one that would have an enforcement mechanism for those who failed to purchase insurance. Obama's plan, which would require that children be insured, would need one as well, though it would affect fewer persons.

Thats just the month of February. Yes if you look at Clintons she has made exagerations... but she isn't running her whole campaign on the premise of "New Politics." Is she?

Comment: Comment: Hillary Clinton Goofs Again
        A Commentary by Dick Morris

Who was it that defined neurosis as repeating the same mistake again and again, and expecting a better outcome each time? That???s really what the Clinton campaign is doing in its post-Chesapeake primary strategy. Now Hillary defines Obama as the candidate who makes speeches, while she is the one who provides ???answers??? and ???solutions.???

Why is Hillary embracing this new line? It???s not that she has any great record of solutions or answers of which to boast, but rather that she wants to highlight Obama???s lack of a legislative record. Once again, she and her campaign geniuses are making the same mistake they made when they decided to use the experience as their defining difference with Obama. It???s not that she had much, but they sensed an opportunity to highlight that he had even less.
Of course experience not only didn???t work. It backfired massively. By co-opting the experience tag, Hillary bought into the status quo and left Obama to be the agent of change. A candidacy that could have excited tens of millions of women, the first serious prospect of a female president, became merely a boring part of the status quo, shorn of its novelty.

Hillary???s claim to be the solution-person won???t work either for the same simple reason: She hasn???t passed any...she hasn???t walked the walk so now she cannot talk the talk.

As a first lady, Hillary???s sole important legislative involvement came during the first two years of her husband???s presidency when she sought to pass her ill-conceived health care reform, an effort that failed so miserably that it cost her party control of the House of Representatives for the first time in 40 years. Between 1995 to 1997, she was largely absent from the White House, traveling the world, promoting her best selling book and helping to raise funds. She never attended strategy meetings and her only intervention in the singular legislative achievements of Bill???s administration ??? welfare reform and the balanced budget deal ??? was privately to urge a veto of the former and to oppose the latter because it provided for a cut in the capital gains tax. Hillary returned to the White House in 1998 to oversee the defense to the Lewinsky scandal and the impeachment attempt, but the Clinton administration essentially folded its legislative efforts during those years and hung on for dear life. No portfolio of accomplishments there...

Her only actual legislation included one bill to increase nurse recruitment, another to aid respite time for Alzheimer???s care givers and another to expand veterans??? health benefits, a paltry output for six years??? service.

In her second term, she has spent full-time campaigning for president and has the worst attendance record of the three senators now still in the presidential race.

If the Democratic party keeps this up... teh opiate of the masses, I'm going to have to register as an Independant. The Soma that is Obama's speeches are great to get people to vote.. for that I applaud him. I feel that the majority of americans really don't care about politics but are enamored with Obama because of his rockstar like personality. Does that mean Hannah Montana should be his VP? She would mobilize the 'tweens to have their parents vote for VP Cyrus.

When I need a doctor I try to find one who is inexperienced and actually brags that he has no connections in the medical establishment.Just to make sure he can't navigate the beaurocracy.
When I look for a lawyer I do the same.I want someone inexperienced who has no idea how to naviagte through the court system.
That's why I like Barrack Obama.
