John McCain is not fit nor has he ever been fit to be president. His only claim to fame is his vet status which does not make someone fit to be president. Mike Huckabee has a better record than he does but does not have the mone to run an effective compain.

    I am a Republican....and I'm voting for McCain....

  • Posted By: hhbnap @ 02/22/2008 4:47:56 PM

Both McCain and Kerry sold out our brothers and sisters when the came back from Vietnam saying all the prisoners have been accounted for...saying the remaining ones are either married into the community or opium addicts...We know prisoners are still being held in Laos. Question is WHO can we trust???

I guess all you people are just too young? To remember the great last savior that we had?
I'd give you a hint. Inflation 20%, on employment 9%, American citizens held by a foreign government. He was supposed to save us to. So it's 20 years later, new generation, new great held on the way. Just in case for the ones that need a little help? His initials are J.C.
I can't wait to see Jesse Jackson as the treasurer and Sharpton and secretary of defense.

    • Posted By: tboone @ 02/22/2008 4:40:36 PM

Holy crap, when did we elect Jesus Christ!? And I thought he saved us already. Oh yeah, and we don't have a "treasurer" in this country. This isn't the SBA of your high-school.

      • Posted By: MeLizzard2 @ 02/22/2008 4:47:50 PM

Why, in fact, we do have a Secretary of the Treasury.

  • Posted By: Agast @ 02/22/2008 4:45:53 PM

Liberal? Democrat? Obviously the leftwing media has to do all that it can to try and discredit any Republican.
Shame on the Times and all those who have to resort to these tactics. It is time public figures are presumed innocent rather than guilty through unsubstantiated accusations.

  • Posted By: Aerdrie S. @ 02/22/2008 4:45:38 PM

I think it's absolutely hilarious that the Republicans are in such a tizzy over this. You are all so quick to jump on the New York Times and Newsweek when this story originated with The Drudge Report back in December. I thought Matt Drudge was a Right-Wing watercarrier? Or do you have no principles at all? It's okay if one of your own says it, but if someone from the "liberal media" says it, it's an outrage. You know, there is a reason Republican states are called "Red" states.

Where is the media frenzy about Obama's crack smoking gay affair with this Larry Sinclair guy?...

    • Posted By: Bullwinkle @ 02/22/2008 4:45:31 PM

I think because only the ignorant believe it to be true.

  • Posted By: hhbnap @ 02/22/2008 4:45:01 PM

Both McCain and Kerry sold out our brothers and sisters, the MIA-POW's when they came back from their trip to Vietnam. We know very well prisoners still exist who are not married into the population or Opium addicts...

  • Posted By: Keeneyes @ 02/22/2008 2:41:45 PM

It??? not the so-called, left-wing media that is causing the stir; if one is interested in seeking who may be causing this dust-up, maybe we should turn to the King/Queen of smear, the right-wing Republican Party. This smells like a republican tactic. The conservative right-wing despises John McCain and would like nothing more than to slow him down, or stop his pursuit to wrap-up the Republican nomination.

    • Posted By: damilkman @ 02/22/2008 4:44:37 PM

It's not that outlandish. Knock out McCain and in rides Huck or Romney to save the day....

    • Posted By: Yankee GI in the South @ 02/22/2008 2:55:08 PM

And have the country be stuck with Obama or Clinton? Yep, I can see why the conservative right-wing would do somthing like this.

      • Posted By: Johnsonium @ 02/22/2008 3:10:33 PM

Obama is the leader many of us, including a large amount of independents, have been waiting for.

The right-wing has made it clear that they'd rather lose this one, then elect someone they don't consider a "true conservative".

    • Posted By: Yankee GI in the South @ 02/22/2008 3:04:09 PM

And have the country stuck with Obama or Clinton? Yea, I see why the conservative right-wing would do somthing like this, Yep.....that is what they do.....I don't think so.

Well it looks as if McGain is just another Republican liar. Eight years of these diabolical criminals and they have made the Depression-era look like the ???good ???ol days!??? War, recession, lies, fascist tactics, torture, intolerance, ignominy, my God people! Two hundred years ruined in less than a decade! I???m from Arizona and I can tell you about McGain???s sordid past. Head of the Ch(K)eating Five that fleeced millions of their S&L savings, along with Neil Bush. His dealings with the impeached Governor Meacham and the indicted Fife Symington and now this! You Republicans had your chance! You listen to the drug-addled ramblings of Rush Limbaugh and follow his thinking like Jonestown followers! ???Drink the Kool-Aid, Drink the Kool-Aid!??? While everything that good people with good intentions gets vilified and cut for war criminal???s holdings! You???ve had your say and where are we now! On the verge of collapse in every facet of society! It???s time for Republicans to sit down and shut up! Leave it to people who aren???t hypocritical liars and cheats to fix what you have wrought!

    • Posted By: elegy @ 02/22/2008 4:44:35 PM

I didn't realize that "liars" were confined to one political party. One "liar" actually got impeached in recent history. While ignorance is not limited to a particular political party either, it appears that once again the liberal wing of the democratic party has captured the lead in this category. Thank goodness that in this country you can voice your opinion, whether it is factual or not. Fortunately, sanity ultimately prevails.

The McCain's are typical conservative republican Sunday Christians hypocrites. Take off that paint from Cindy's face, underneath is totally something else. As this carp about trama of Prescription drug addition is the most commonest thing about these rich Arizona types and their modus operandi. They are hooked to gills to prescription drugs because that can get them as easliy as getting things over the counter and there are too many conservative republican quacks in Arizona.
McCain has not changed much from his days when he was helping out and taking chickbacks from his convicted felon buddy Charles Keating. It is the usual facade that these republicansare used to as a perversity of their hypocrite nature and rights only of their kind.

Who cares if McCain was screwing Vicki Iseman. That photograph is edited . The real one is available at www.dailymail.co.uk .

McCain being a war hero is all crap too. He comes from a gun ho military family and go fighting the usless war in Vietnam was his forte for the profits of his industrial-military like minded complex. In this venture he destroyed two fighter jets and ended up a POW. But there are over 57000 other Americans that were sacrificed by his malignant narcissists , chronic scapegoating and uncorrectable grab bagging kind, with coercion, reckless abandon and impunity to promote the outward/hypocrite self image of good and perfection.
The McCain pitbull at 71 with hanging jaws, drivel and spindly legs is too old. Check out the real photograph of the old puff faced as printed in the daily mail www.dailymail.co.uk rather then what what his republicans want to represent him as.

Just another Liberal smear campaign, nothing more, nothing less....

All in all, when Clinton, Obama or McCain is elected, they will perform at the same level as Bush and Clinton. A level the US has been accustomed to seeing from it's leaders in Government and Industry and far far below the leaders of our past. This country is dieing and it's sad to watch, but inevitable as Americans have lost the notions of personal repsonsibility and have exchanged it for some socialistic commune notion that one big group hug and higher taxes will solve the ills of the country and world. I see nothing but a repeat of the 1930s and and 1940s over the next few decades.

Appearently 20 years of conservative presidents in the last 28 years with republican control of the cogress from 1994 to 2006 leads to socialism in the US. Thank God we have a chance for change.

This is a classic demonstration of the Selective Criminalization of the Proper Function Of Government. Liberal democrats like Michael Isikoff use innuendo and vague insinuations to create the appearance of impropriety. Which is the standard for republicans, and republicans only. Lobbyists are not "evil." Lobbyists represent YOUR interests. The selective demonization of lobbyists and lobbying is a tool used by political hacks to demonize along partisan lines. A company is paralyzed by a dithering government bureaucracy. Fighting for their life, and the life of their employees, a company hires a lobbyist who tries to break the gridlock. The senator asks the bureaucracy to act. He did not ask them to act in one way or another, but only to act. Isn't it terrible. Allowing the paralysis of government to wreck the company would have been much better. All part of The Big Lie.

Typical right wing answer. On McCain's defense at least he didn't do it in public bathroom or with a male like the rest of the reps. "I did not have lobbying relations with that woman." Hmmm....

  • Posted By: Big Ricks351 @ 02/22/2008 4:43:24 PM

It's funny how the news main stream media propped someone like John McCain up and now they are ready and willing to knock out the props even before the contest gets started. I smell a bunch of rats! We know about Hillary wonder what they are not telling us about Obama...oh wait a minute didn't he have some kind of land deal with a criminal or something? Hmmm we the American people don't have much of a choice, but we better get informed and VOTE!!!

  • Posted By: dazedandconfused @ 02/22/2008 4:43:01 PM

At last, an alleged affair between a republican and an adult person of the opposite sex! No more congressional pages or bathroom folies!

  • Posted By: scipapa @ 02/22/2008 2:44:06 PM

Does this mean that my congressman is unethical if I ask him to help me get an answer for a problem with social security and in the past I have contributed to his campaign?

    • Posted By: damilkman @ 02/22/2008 4:42:32 PM

Of course not, unless you're trying to buy influence. And that's what McCain does often. He casts himself as a "maverick" but he's just as entangled as any. So his message rings hollow. Thats what it's about. And if you need evidence, just look to the Keating 5.

  • Posted By: tiredofthebull**** @ 02/22/2008 3:37:52 PM

This is all a bunch of crap. We had a President that accepted sexual favors in the oval office, and that was OK. We have a muslum that has admitted to doing and selling drugs in college, and that is OK. Democrat or Republican, they are all full of it. Let the first one among you cast the stone. Elections have turned in to the lesser of the evils. The corruption has built to the point, that there is no good politician. Money and politics will be the end of America as we know it now. Everyone is to chicken **** to say or do what is right, because someone is waiting in the wings recording the conversation so the NAACP or some other biggoted organization can sue the hell out of them. Mind your own damn bussiness.

    • Posted By: Bullwinkle @ 02/22/2008 4:41:56 PM

The solution is simple ... don't do the crime and you won't do the time! Period. No lawsuits then to worry about!

    • Posted By: rkrenke @ 02/22/2008 4:02:33 PM

Your comment is the only thing that is a "bunch of crap". You and people like you are why this country is in the shape it's in. Please go away.

    • Posted By: DemInMissoula @ 02/22/2008 3:42:38 PM

If I remember correctly, the sexual favors in the oval office wasn't okay. It caused quite a stir. There is no Muslim running for office, and Obama has not admitted to selling drugs.

      Research before posting, please.

Isn't it interesting how right-wing apologists now hate the Times, even though they didn't mind when the Times rallied around the false information about WMD in Iraq? Notice how they try to bring up consensual sex in the Oval Office and alleged misdeeds of the Clintons? I guess they forgot that we gave subpoena power, a Grand Jury, and fifty million dollars to a right-wing extremist (Kenny Star), who could not find anything on them.

Sorry guys, . . again, the entire world is tired of the hateful nonsense from the right wing extremists in this country. If you read the foreign press, you will see they are hungry for us to elect Obama to prove that we are not really a nation of religious prigs, hateful racists, and arrogant agents of military aggression.

Give me 10% of that and I'll have the entire Bush family in the slammer for their complicity in crimes going back to before WWII.

    • Posted By: cobaka @ 02/22/2008 4:41:01 PM

I was about to post a longer comment, but Kamburoff made most of the points that I had in mind.
Except, let's all remember that it was Jeff (Geof ?) who started the Whitewater smear/hoax against Clinton from page one of NYT.
