Oh boy. A kink in the armour. There we go again. I did not do it. They got it all wrong. They are after me. McCain, that's what you get when you come out as Mr. Clean.

Stop digging up dirt and trying to derail a campaign. When Gennifer Flowers etc. was going on we who cared about someone personal values were told someone's private life should not affect their ability to function as a president. Don't you remember? A little hypocrisy going on here????

    • Posted By: whyarentrepubsembarrased @ 02/22/2008 3:12:16 PM

Don't you get it? That's EXACTLY why. Republicans are the first to throw stones and they are doing the same OR WORSE while they're throwing them. It all of that hadn't happened with the way Clinton was railroaded, no Democrat would care about the girl deal.....doing favors is another story....!

I believe McCain and am really sick of these smear campaigns. McCain has been and will be an excellent representative for our country. Why doesn't Newsweek stick to somthing worth readying - like how to solve the problems facing our country, immigration and the millions spent paying for these lawbreakers. We could solve the insurance crisis if all the money was spent on our citizens.

Google "Keating Five" and get an education about "Mr. Straight Talk".

james206wolf@hotmail.com ....hahahaha that is funny...although if i were you, i'd stick to talking about subject i know--evidently for you, its not economics. Of course you can keep posting about it, but just try not to make our party look so bad.

It would seem to me that if Sen McCain were trying to unduly influence the FCC he wouldn't wait until the 800th day of a permit process that normally takes 400 days to do it. What is highly unusual ,and in my opinion an abuse of office, is William Kennert's ( Clinton appointee and Gore supporter ) characterization of that letter in a way that would try to embarrass a presidential candidate of the opposing party.

It's time for Mccain to take his medals and go home, he is outdated, has no vision or inspirations.......he is just another Bob Dull..........Really

    • Posted By: past @ 02/22/2008 2:21:18 PM

      are you a Clinton supporter?

      • Posted By: douglassoileau @ 02/22/2008 3:11:03 PM

I was a Ron Paul supporter, Mccain is no republican.....look at the past eight years, could any democrate do any worse than King George ? He has spent trillions on foreign governments, the last of wich another 15 billion to Africa because the P--- is mighter than than the mind, (abstinance) Even Hillary couldn't do any worse, at least the republican senate and congress would have kept her in check.......i haven't decided on who i will vote for but i doubt very seriously it will be Mccain, he is senile already. maybe a brokered convention will give us someone to vote for

How could you trust a man who thinks he looks good in a bad combover?

  • Posted By: jlittleb @ 02/22/2008 3:10:38 PM

Who cares who he slept with in the past? I am not his wife so I don't really give a rat's tail whom he sleeps with now or has ever slept with. It is PERSONAL!! You people have got to be crazy to think that someone is going to tell the entire country their sex life, it is a PRIVATE affair. If you were not there then it does not concern you. How many of us would tell the truth about it? I am a single man and I lie to people all the time about beinging with women because it is not any of their damn business who I sleep with if it is not them.
I would be willing to bet that the same person who launched this scandal has some skeleton's in the closet himself/herself and if found out and questioned about, they would more than likely lie because it's not anyone else's business.

Who he slept with in the pass has nothing to do with him be a presidential candidate. He is running for President not your spouse!!!!!

I THINK THAT YOU SHOULD STOP PLAYING "GOTCHA GAMES" AND START WORRYING ABOUT WHAT IS GOING ON IN THE WORLD THAT MATTERS.

Time to worry about more than liberal slander from a New York based paper from a state, New York, that has a real upright and "squeaky" clean Senator!!

How about all the "garbage" and other wonderful things that the "experienced" Democratic candidate denied having a part in? The travel agency snafu, the mysterious suicide of her male friend, the botched medical program that she tried to put on the nation to just name a few that we know about. Oh! let's not forget about the fine record that she had while an attorney in Arkansas. Golly, what great experience to qualify her for the leader of our nation.

How about the other candidate? Why can't he stop trying to be "Mr. Hollywood" and actually lay out a plan on how he is going to make all the "changes" if he is elected. His speeches are nothing but a lot of empty promise Where is the substance? When is he going to actually tell us how he plans to make all these wonderful changes and pay for them? He, well as the other senator, plan to pull our troops out of Iraq within months if elected. That really is a pair of patriots! Let's allow our troops as well as the other countries who have lost people be forgotten. Let's put our tail between our legs and run away like we did in Vietnam.

Wake up America, freedom and democracy are not cheap. We seem to feel if the war isn't over in a year or so we need to give up, forgot the dead and run home! I wasn't aware that we are related to France, maybe we could get some white flags from them and wave them!

Senator McCain may have made some poor choices back 6-10 years ago, but he is a Patriot, he will stand up for America, he won't forget what our service men and women as well as other countries service people have sacrificed.

Do we want a spineless President whose only concerns are to have give away programs? A President whose only concern is being able to coddle the liberals, have lots of "free programs" and to shame our troops who have fought for our freedom? Then we have 2 of those types running for the Democratic nomination.

Give me a John McCain who has the backbone and experience to be the President. He has "experience" and I would match that up against the other 2 any day.

GOD BLESS OUR SERVICE MEN AND WOMEN.

Well said, tomforrest.Although not my first choice,Mccain is infinitely more qualified than either of the Dem bozos. You may have made too much sense;I am afraid the liberal bloggers won't be able to find anything to zealously(insanely) attack. How can someone refer to themselves as a "liberal" and appear to be proud of it?I guess Ann Coulter was right!

    • Posted By: 4trucks @ 02/22/2008 2:42:18 PM

Well said tomforrest.Although Mccain is not my first choice,he is light years ahead of either of the Dem bozos.I believe you made entirely too much sense for the liberal bloggers to mount a frenzied attack.I can't fathom how someone can refer to themself as a "liberal" and appear to be proud of it.Ann Coulter was correct.

    • Posted By: ikie12pts @ 02/22/2008 1:39:21 PM

Obviously you must not have a son, father or brother in Iraq to DIE for you and your freedom, because you couldn't care less about how many of our children are giving their lives in that God-forsaken place. We need to get OUT of this Middle Eastern mess. There's nothing that can be done to help these people and they do not want a democracy. Don't you understand anything about the various tribes of people who live in this area? Do some research on Moslems and then post something intelligent.

Wow, How leftist can you get. Now I know what the Republicans are talking about in the Media Bias.

  • Posted By: NancyKorb @ 02/22/2008 2:41:54 PM

Who cares what the New York Times says anymore. They are a liberal rag. They used to be a respected newspaper. Their reporting was unbiased. Now, they take a liberal spin on everything. For instance, they are obviously touting Brack Obama for President. They have attacked McCain and Clinton in the same newspaper. To me, a respectable newspaper reports the news. They might have articles leaning in one direction, but they always counter with another explaining the other side, and those articles are called "commentaries" not news. Reporting on a ten year old story, without any sources, beginning by trying to smear Senator McCain about having had affairs with this lobbyist, is simply not news. Now they have to come out with this story to make themselves sound like they're actually reporting. Bye Bye...NYT. Your reputation just gets worse and worse every year.

    • Posted By: Johnsonium @ 02/22/2008 3:09:17 PM

The "liberal media" is a myth. Get with the times.

  • Posted By: benhilo @ 02/22/2008 3:09:11 PM

Politics as usual. Wonder if Rush Limbaugh will now admit he is wrong or is still going to blame the papers for making this up. Good work Times!!!!

  • Posted By: mouseinboots @ 02/22/2008 12:45:51 PM

This was relevant in 2002 not in 2008!! If I were McCain I would not even acknowledge this 6 year old trash. All this junk is just an attempt to slow down his progress in the race, just a bump in the road. It seems the only canidates taht make the news are McClain and Clinton and it's all just irrevelant trash put out the osama camp.

    • Posted By: danil @ 02/22/2008 1:08:08 PM

Listen, I don't care what your stance is. But to blantly call Barack OBAMA by the name of a known terrorist (Osama) is utterly disrespectful, in poor taste, irresponsible, and ridiculous!!

      • Posted By: dewcooper @ 02/22/2008 1:46:03 PM

Actually, it is called free speech and I am sure you have called republicans a lot worse...

        • Posted By: Davidt1111 @ 02/22/2008 3:09:09 PM

danil didn't say it was illegal but disrespectful, in poor taste, irresponsible, and ridiculous; and it is.

  • Posted By: winthrop888 @ 02/22/2008 2:43:07 PM

Who gives a rat's a__ about these findings. Between the Clinton's shenanigans over the years and Obama's questionable roots, McCain has nothing to worry about.

    • Posted By: Johnsonium @ 02/22/2008 3:08:28 PM

Obama doesn't need the racist vote. You are free to vote for someone else. He will still win.

  • Posted By: james206wolf@hotmail.com @ 02/22/2008 3:08:17 PM

Sick thinking - The good economic times of the Clinton years were the result of the Reagan Republican years. The bad economic times of the Bush Republican years were the result of the Clinton Democrat years.

  • Posted By: Combat Vets Against Demcorats @ 02/22/2008 2:46:26 PM

Liberals are terrified of McCain. They know an anti-war candidate cannot win during a time of war. It didn't even work in Vietnam. So this is the result. Fear breeds attacks. What is amusing is hearing democrats acting like lies, immorality and corruption actually upset them. It is kind of a complement, though, that they hold republicans to a higher standard than their own politicans.

    • Posted By: Johnsonium @ 02/22/2008 3:07:35 PM

Obama will trounce McCain. Hillary has problems, I think. Obama will create a great contrast between old and new, inspirational and entrenched. Obama doesn't have to worry about McCain.

  • Posted By: benhilo @ 02/22/2008 3:06:34 PM

Politics as usual. Wonder if Rush Limbaugh will tell the truth now about this or rather keep blaming the papers for making this up.

    OMG...side step....double side step....or what?
20 out of the last 28 years with Republicans in office ( most of my adult life), and it makes one wonder about all of the improprieties that must have taken place.
Makes me feel like a do over is possible to see how things might have turned out. lol

  • Posted By: whyarentrepubsembarrased @ 02/22/2008 3:06:21 PM

It's not the lobbyist thing...it's not the affair thing...it's the HYPOCRACY thing! I think it's so funny that the Republicans are the first to throw the largest stones when they are doing the same or worse at the people they are condeming! Too pathetically funny! I can't wait for the final debates between McCain and Clinton OR Obama. He's got a lot of practicing to do to be able to keep up intellectually or any other way with either of the Democratic possibilities! He needs to get off the shaky "My Friends" lingo and make some sense!
