As a liberal , even I was turn off about the sex component to the NYTimes story (I need a picture, hotel receipt, somethin'). But that still does not detract from the FACTUAL part of the article which gives accounts of him being in bed with the lobbyist, even doing favors when he was a chairman. And those letters he released raise more questions than they answers.

McCain is not a maverick, he is a hyprocrite. He claims he's for the average American, yet the people running his campaign are high priced lobbyist, and would more likely rip the money from Americans hands, literally, rather than have a piece of legistlation do it.

Typical Liberal nonsense: Since they do not have any sensible plans of their own, all they can do is try and discredit an obviously superior candidate. The 'Yellow Tabloid', i.e., the NY Times didn't find any fault with Bill Clinton while mountains of evidence and an impeachment from congress were present, but John McCain, a real American Hero, and honest man with integrity with no evidence at all against him is worthy of a biased untrue assault on him by the leftist NY times. When has the NY Times printed any news 'That is Fit to Print'?

BTW another Arizona politician is in the news today- Rep. Rick Renzi, R-Ariz., has been indicted for extortion, wire fraud, money laundering and other charges related to a land deal in Arizona

As for McCain, get the whole scoop here- from another vet- http://www.usvetdsp.com/story22.htm

You guys are going to have to better than this. Even being a joint-conspiralist with the New York Times isn't working. Is this MSNBC or MOVEON.ORG. Now I have forgotten which site I am on. No wonder you're losing the news battle. You are all lacking in basic intelligence - let alone good journalism. Why don't you try practicing good journalism instead of political assassinations.

What are working slobs to believe? Here you seem to corroborate the NYT article yet when I heard Senator McCain say the letter(s) sent to the FCC were sent about 800 days after the FCC had initiated its processing; the FCC's self imposed turn-around time was/is 400 days. Seems to me that Senator McCain was in support of a citizen's right to a resolution. But then again, Senator McCain is running for the REPUBLICAN nomination, isn't he? May I ask what kind of investigative reporting has you done on Senator Obama's sweetheart deals with Tony Rezko? We know, of course, the kid-glove treatment the Clintons got/get.

The vast majority of the American public have never bothered to write a letter to their congressman or senators about an issue that affects them let alone go to Washington and lobby. Until the American people understand how the machine works, stories like this only fuel anamosity towards a particular senator or congressman such as Mr. McCain. I am not a McCain fan but I understand the process. If I have an issue as a constituant, I can write letters and go by the office of my congressmen and senators and give them information about my issue. As my representative, they are compelled to act in some way. Either to tell me that my position doesn't fit with their agenda or party agenda, promise to research the issue further, or go forward with the issue. I have been to Washington and have sent letters and have always gotten a response. I not always liked the response but at least I have made them aware of my issue. Get a grip America, the sqeeky wheel gets the grease. That is how it works. If you don't like it, get out there and get involved. Vote, lobby, run for office yourself, just stop sitting back complaining and pointing fingers.

Drop this story and apologize to McCain? Why? For lying in the press conference yesterday, when he said that he never had contact with Paxson? (He stated in the deposition that he had.) McCain has lied numerous times over the years; this is only one example. He should not be the GOP's nominee for president.

I really don't think any liberal dem's are worried about McCain. The "Liberals" have this one in the bag girls. Nobody cares about McCains personal life, they're just trying to show you con's that Johnny boy likes the same thing as Billy boy. haha Now get over yourselves.

Just another example of Repubniks lies and deceits. Just like they lied to get us into Iraq. Just like the cheated and lied to get into the White House. It's time to take back our country from the neocons and demi-gods who now rule the white house

  • Posted By: BIGTEE @ 02/22/2008 2:19:23 PM

Boy, how time changes peoples perception. WHERE was all the Republican concern when President Clinton's private life was dragged into public.

McCain is not telling the whole truth about this matter. So, why are people surprised at this news story? I could tell that he was not truthful by the look on his wife???s face.

McCain is an old man. Now we all know if nothing else...he as memory problems. Will the signs of dementia really show itself soon? This 71 year old man would not be hired as the CEO of a Fortune 500 Company. Why would we consider him for President of the United States?

    • Posted By: ndr103 @ 02/22/2008 2:18:57 PM

We would not consider nor approve of someone that does not have the experience to run a major company; why condiser them for the President of the United States positon... i am not sure either you or I know all the facts about this incident, but he is far more experienced and qualified than some others, who on Tuesday night revealed himself to be in the pockets of the unions... what an agenda for failure for this country...

so Clinton smoked weed but said he did inhale, whats the difference!

Are you kidding? Give it up and focus on how the media is being bamboozelled by Mr Obama. I "hope" you "change" your approach because, yes "we can!" He talked in circles during the debate last night and everyone in the media (most) said "Oh he did very well." What exactly did he say he would do regarding Cuba relations, and Health Care fines? Unbelievable. But we better make sure John McCain can explain,

Who in the heck cares about a politicans sex life? Isn't that their business? President Clinton was impeached by a Republican Congress, and history will show that he shouldn't have been impeached at all. What happened should have been between himself and his family; not us! Almost every president (and especially John Kennedy) had mistresses, but nothing much is written. If McCain had an affair, so be it; but if McCain broke laws because of it, he needs to be dealt with.

Again and again the problem of lobbyists make their mark on cadidates that allow themselves to mingle with them. All lobbyists should be thrown out of Washington, all money should be tracked and all meetings should take place with an open door. This is how you avoid misunderstandings.

If you go into politics speaking about experience and leadership, etc, what's good having either when you continue to apply your experience and leadership to do things the same old outdated and SHADY way?

Am I supposed to believe anyone who says they are innocent of affairs that are already affairs that border on a very thin line of appropriate vs. inapporpriate? In the name of what? Helping a big corporation get bigger? Is that RISK worth it? If they were lobbying for more parks and playgrounds for children.....I think you get my drift.

  • Posted By: kamburoff @ 02/22/2008 2:15:33 PM

This is all irrelevant. John McCain, the "hero" who dropped bombs on a civilian populace from an air-conditioned cockpit, will not get elected.

The world is tired of war-oriented conservatives. They see the incredible debt we will somenow have to dig our way out of. They have experienced our military aggression and selfishness.

McCain is the same old kill 'em mentality of the last century. Everybody else wants a change.
