If you go to a group session at your local Vet Center, you will see the abused souls with the same quickness to anger, the same tendency for inappropriate comments, the same inability to deal with stress. It is called PTSD. I have it, too. John McCain has not been able to deal with it, probably because of denial. He is not to be trusted to make decisions in stressful times. He will just revert to the same old "kill 'em for peace" stuff in those cases.

America needs more in a president than a Commander in Chief to direct our next aggression. We need a healer, someone uncorrupted by years of lies and deals.

First, the known evidence is that the Senator talked with the company president. Second, there is no direct evidence that McCain was actually pressured or compensated to write the letter to the FCC only asked to do get the application out of its stall.

My greatest concern is how the vast majority of the media and public treat all kinds of people in these situation. The more noteworthy or impactful the situation our society has decidced to assume "Guilty until Proven Innocent". Our Constitution actually says it the other way around. Stop convicting people of a crime from the outset!

    Sir,
Does the media know how much money in kick-backs, Hillary and Bill Clinton have received over the years? Yes you do. Does the media know, how much money that Opra and her Holleywood vultures are laying on Obama? Yes they do. Why does the media, go after an AMERIACN HERO, on a speculation that was five years ago. I have watched the media, turn into a National Enquirer, for many years now. If the media keeps its soap opera news , and liberal trash, and don't return to a decent organization, the American People will abonda them for new ones. The media should be talking about who spent years in a POW camp, and is one great man. Also, who's husband was impeachedddd while President, and was a disgrace to our nation. Let the media, tell the truth about the "United church of Christ, that Obama claims to attend, and see what the critera for the church is. LET THE LIBERAL MEDIA TELL THE TRUTH, AND STOP LIES!! I thank you.

Now with John in the company of klan members like Rush, O'Reily and other clowns form the right wing, you don't need to wonder how his presidency will look like. You are seeing it already in this white house. One can decide now itself if they want Bush III after Jan'09. This is how empires were built, only to see it's downfall. GOP is in the business of building an American empire and they got only hate and wars to offer.

THESE REPUBLICANS HAVE GOTTEN AWAY WITH TOO MANY INEXCUSABLE ACTIONS. WE HAVE TO CLEAN THE WHITE HOUSE.. REPLACE ALL OF THE OLD STOGEY MEN AND ELECT OBAMA TO UNITE THIS COUNTRY. IT APPEARS THAT THE NY TIMES IS DEFINATELY ON TO SOMETHING WITH MCCAIN. HE IS OLD WASHINGTON. IM SURE THINGS WILL BE COMING OUT OF THE WOODWORK WITH MCCAIN. THEY ALL HAVE SKELETONS IN THE CLOSET. WE AS AMERICANS HAVE TO REALLY KEEP OUR EYES OPEN. SO TIRED OF THE "POLITICS AS USUSAL" IN WASHINGTON. THAT'S ENOUGH!!

Typical liberal nonsense; When you don't have any real plan or program of your own, just try to discredit your obviously superior opponent. When Bill Clinton was receiving oral sex in the White House that was ok for the Liberals. But when no substantiated evidence from a 'Yellow tabloid', i.e., NY Times, can be provided that's OK with Liberals.

It is sad to see this mess. I hope for McCain's sake it is not true. However, I dought he is as clean as people would like him to be anyway.

Unfortunately, the two best men - - character and policy - - are not going to get to run against each other. I expect Obama will be in the race in November, but, Romney is out. The real choice in this election has already happened. Unless Obama fails to obtain his party's endorsement.

This man has done more for our country then the current president ever has.
Proudly served our country in the military and public government.
If there is such a lilly white person out to run this country and bring it back from the shambles we are in let
him step forward. If not move forward and get a LIFE!!!!!

We need a president who can make a decision in accordance with the facts. Is that McCain? He's the best on the right, but in this case he is entitled to his defense, but neither he nor the NYT is entitled to their own set of facts. I remember the good old days when McCain and Huckabee were yucking it up with Don Imus as regulars on his show--when there was time to hear them over the gutter level attacks on dems.

As a former regulatory attorney in Washington, and a former staffer at the FCC, my impression and experience was that such contacts between members of Congress and regulatory agencies were fairly common. And when an agency receives a letter from the chairman of its oversight committee, that letter carries particularly heavy weight. Those who presume that this is a story about a romantic or sexual relationship between Sen. McCain and a lobbyist -- and such a presumption is without justification -- are missing the point. The point is that Sen. McCain has denied direct contacts with a past major campaign contributor regarding a matter pending before a regulatory agency then under his direct oversight, and based on the evidence he is misstating the truth. These are statements from someone who claims to be above such things.
This story and the original New York Times report reveal that Sen. McCain has done what so many other senators and representatives (and White House staff) have done: attempt to assist a supporter by intervention in a pending regulatory matter. And believe me, if Sen. McCain's letters to the FCC asked only for "action" on a pending matter, not for a favorable decision, the clear inference would be clear nonetheless.
Sen. McCain was tainted by his involvement with Charles Keating during the savings & loan scandal, and I take him at his word that he learned a great deal from the experience. Essentially, he is an honorable man. He fought for important reforms that put him at odds with political hacks and slime merchants in the Republican cadre. But what all of this shows, and as the Senator himself acknowledged then, the way that business is done in Washington frequently carries with it "the appearance of corruption." McCain has been caught,; because he claimed to be wholly innocent of any such dealings, he put a bullseye on his own back. If anyone is shocked by these reports, then their innocence and naivete must be remarkable. It wouldn't be too hard for an investigator to find countless other examples of similar dealings by the powerful of Washington on behalf of their powerful friends.

Your stating that the transcript appears to support the Times article while offering no eveidence. Your own coverage makes it clear that Paxson himself was the person speaking with McCain, not Iseman. You also offer no evidence that Paxson actually asked the senator to send the letter to the FCC.

Why do so many reporters, in the current era, insist on making assumptions that are not based on evidence to give an impression that a noteworthy person is already guilty. Also, since when was the legal opinion; "Guilty until proven Innocent"?

McCain is a hothead war mongoring liar just like the ones that are in office now. Can we really afford to continue down the same road that we have so recklessly been traveling for the past eight years. A wolf in sheeps clothing has fooled the Republican party again, you must remember the only difference between McCain and Bush is well there isn't any difference. .........RADAR

    I am an Independet Observer...

    1. Why was an AZ senator intervening on behalf of a Florida(?) corporation? Why didn;t Paxon et al go through their local legislator like NORMAL people / businesses do, unless something shady is going on?
    2. This issue, in combination with his participation in the Keating Five debacle (remember THAT) how can he POSSIBLY look in our eyes and say that he has never EVER done ANYTHING to compromise the public trust?
    3. The NYT is completely suspect in the timing of this story - if thhis results in significant damage to the candidate, who can the Republicans possibly run at this point? Can Mitt jump BACK IN?

Is this a campaign to see who can go back in a persons life and find fault or are we as a nation going to find out who is currently qualified to bring these 2 parties together?. It appears to most of us that Mr. McCain is the only one of all of those running to have crossed the line and can bring the other party to the dance and actually get something done for us,"the little people" who pay your salaries. I know from several years of watching the media that "bias rules", but can't you all just go with the real deal?.
