bobrodus, you are correct. Unfortunately the media and liberal jackazzes on this blog dont care about this. This "news" is nothing more than the first swipe at the Republican nominee. I don't even like McCain but the media openly using subterfuge to cause speculation and plant bad ideas in people's heads is a lowdown disgrace. This is something that Hugo Chavez's newspapers no doubt do to his political rivals.

It appears another politician is corrupt! In McCain's case, the fact that lobbyists are essentially running his presidential campaign -- most of them as volunteers -- seems to some people to be at odds with his anti-lobbying rhetoric. "He has a closer relationship with lobbyists than he lets on," said Melanie Sloan of Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington. "The problem for McCain being so closely associated with lobbyists is that he's the candidate most closely associated with attacking lobbyists." Did you forget the Keating 5? We haven't. Also, did you see his wife's eyes when he said nothing happened between him and Ms. Iseman, please...McCain is in real danger of being labeled as a hypocrite, as someone who talks about ethics but doesn't follow through in his own life. HEY NEW YORK TIMES HOW ABOUT DIGGING UP SOME DIRT ON THE DEMOCRATS. I'M SURE THAT YOU WILL FIND PLENTY. OR, DO YOU JUST WANT A DEMOCRAT AS PRESIDENT AT ALL COSTS?

I'm waiting for the second shoe to drop, if there is one. I would hope the NYT has something to add to what it has published if there is a there there. Remember the original source: Matt Drudge. I'll be interested in seeing what , if anything, he comes up with.

McCain is and always has been a fraud on "finance reform" and ethics. It all amounted to damage control after he was among the notorious sleazeballs in the Keating scandal. The problem for him now is, he's also getting tired. I thought he was going to fall asleep talking to reporters yesterday and his wife looks like she just stepped out of a wax museum. The Dems can't be afraid to take on the "straight talk" king. What a joke. He also sucked up to the same right-wing wingnuts, the Bushies and Falwells and Limbaughs of the world, who smeared him with great glee. Pathetic.

So, Andy1964, rather than being concerned that one of our Senators, and a man currently running for President, actually did anything wrong or unethical, you resort to trying to smear Obama? Typical Republican tactic...don't address the accusation or the reputed activity, but kill the messenger and smear somebody else!! Your response can be summed up this way..."who cares if he did anything wrong, let's see if someone else did something wrong too, and blame the liberal media!" Why exactly is this article unfair? Both Clinton and Obama have had to endure plenty of articles and insinuations about their activities...is McCain somehow off limits?

"The New York Times comes out with an article, so its the liberal times. Then newsweek comes out with this article proving McCain lied."

Ummmm what EXACTLY did he lie about? That he MAY have talked with someone six years ago about some issue that wasn't even scandalous? And the "sources" that the NY Times used to report all this news are too scared to come out? Why? This story isn't some big national security issue. This is a smear attempt on the Republican nominee, PLAIN AND SIMPLE. The media are liberal Nazis desperate to turn this country into the USSR. But, I guess smearing the only reputable candidate on issues is easier than debating with the worthless idiot Democrats.

Presidents come and go and we complain about all of them but what NEVER changed in DC??? THE SENATE with McCain in it!!! Think of how many rotten presidents we all know to have had and yet this remains the same, mmm wounder if we have been blaming the faults of a Clinton or Reagan on the people in there pockets, McCain! Some president don't need the help of the Senate to look, sound, and act, like a complete moron ie: Bush Jr. who also has McCain in his pocket! EVEN NOW???

This dust is about to settle. The truth is like a straight line -- the shortest distance between two points. It may be bent, colored and/or fattened, but in the end, you can't but stretch the true-truth. I smell we are opening a can of worms.

    Bush-McCain, war and fear mongers

    McCain and corporate lobbysts

    McCain is lobbysts best friend??

McCain is the wealthiest american's best friend

Don't these people know the old saying "NEVER say NEVER" (or "always", for that matter).

Well, at least this time the scandal is of a heterosexual nature, unlike the bathroom gay sex of Sen Larry Craig or the child molestation of Rep Mark Foley. Gotta love those Republican "family values".

Look at al the people blaming the messinger! I wonder where they were during the Clinton era?

Just look at some of the names of the commenters - "libertyfirst"?, and notice the repeated comments after they learn how to use the comments box. Looks like an organized effort by the same people who gave us the Savings & Loan fiasco which benefitted the Bush family and their cronies, in which McCain was featured.

Isn't it time to jail these crooks?

With membership in the Keating Five on his resume, Senator McCain ought not be touting his impeccably clean record quite so loudly.

those anonymous aides that are responsible for this story, are they now working for obama?

  • Posted By: sharonbdixon @ 02/22/2008 12:24:00 PM

No one cares. Really! Let's stick to the issues. When the media panders to this low level of "journalistic investigation" it insults the mentality of the American public. Let's not return to the Ken Starr days, a sad and pathetic time for all Americans regardless of political and moral persuasion. There is enough debauchery in the policies of this present administration to satiate the hungriest of *** peddlers. Move on, please.

I don't see how anybody can refute this. Republicans want their man in office so badly that they just deny every single fact that comes across them. The New York Times comes out with an article, so its the liberal times. Then newsweek comes out with this article proving McCain lied. Instead of seeing the light. Republicans say "oh its just the liberal media". NO it's the facts. Deal with it.

The real problem is not McCain and a possible inappropriate relationship (which would be the second time -take a look how his first marraige ended) it's that to get McCain to get the federal bureaucracy to do its job, someone had to pay him $20,000 and fly him around on a corporate jet. Looks to me like hypocracy is the real sin here.
