arkay, do you really compare your "zoning request" to that of a Lobbyist in Washington who sends a Female to gain the favor of a Senator to win favor for a rule that will make the lobbyist and those he lobbies for much more money than your local request. Your scale of camparison is fallacious. Just think of the example to which you have compared Washington Lobbying activities. Maybe there should be no Lobbies and just a few phone calls to make sure your issue is addressed. Don't be naieve, arkay. Lobbies are big buisness and pay big money to get access to the elected officials who can help them. They do not work with the "local zoning board" like you would compare them towho they lobby.

Does it really matter if McCain spoke to Paxson and/or Iseman himself or if it was McCain's staff members who spoke to Paxson and/or Iseman? Regardless of whom spoke to whom, the outcome was the same, McCain simply wrote a letter to the FCC requesting that they get off their backsides and make a decision on this case. Isn't the FCC and their diddle dawdling the bad guys here?? Who else in the world get to take two years to do a job before them? I think this Newsweek article is doing their best to pick nits about NOTHING of substance. And the New York Times piece is so laughable it belongs in The Onion. You speak of "scum" personal injury lawyers. If quacks didn't injure their patients there would be no need for personal injury lawyers. A patient who is injured by medical neglect or incompetence is entitled to damages. Obviously juries agree. I agree that tort reform is necessary, but everybody is entitled to recover damages under the law, for whatever reason.

I am an Army wife and I know first hand the crap that the Bush administration has dished out to our soldiers
and their families. Mccain is so out of touch with the reality of what 'soldiers' want with regard to the war in Iraq.
"Let us win" was his comment about what the 'troops' are saying. Every single soldier that I know in the Army that my husband is friends with that just returned from Iraq after being in the combat zone for multiple tours are SICK and TIRED of the bulls%$t agenda and what they all went through over there for the past 15 months. Not one of them wants to GO BACK again and again to prove anything! They've already proven themselves over and over and over and over. It is so ridiculous what they go through over there, people have no idea. As usual, the Democrats are the only ones in touch with the military realities on the ground over there. Just listen to the retired Army generals supporting Hillary for president. It is common knowledge that any active duty officer isn't allowed to speak against the Commander in Chief while they are in active duty....but when they retire, that's when the truth comes out if anyone would pay attention.
I've heard them speak over and over about how the war in Iraq has crippled the Army to near breaking point
and what a complete waste and blunder it has all been (and continues to be).

I am an independent who would like to clarify a few things.

First, as to the charge that this is the work of the "liberal media" trying to attack a Republican candidate, let me remind you that Rush Limbaugh has been beating up on John McCain for weeks. He could be behind this.

Regarding the charge that this is a Democrat smear campaign, let me remind you that 8 years ago during the primary campaign John McCain was the victim of a horrible personal smear campaign by a Republican candidate (and his so-called "Christian Leader" friend). Then, for some inexplicable reason, that candidate was elected President not once, but twice by Republicans. Now you want to complain about John McCain being a victim of a smear campaign? Don't be so quick to blame Democrats without proof. Maybe the other Republican candidates are behind this.

I supported John McCain 8 years ago, but now that he has aligned himself with George Bush he doesn't get my vote. I think he is an American hero, but that doesn't mean he will make a good president. He's already admitted he doesn't know much about the economy. He better learn quick. Thousands of Americans die each year due to poverty, starvation, and lack of medical care, while we pour billions of dollars into Iraq. I can't take four more years of a president who is out of touch with the middle class and the poor.
