Sen. McCain has made a number of serious missteps in public service and still makes them. But he probably believes that all he has to say to be left alone is to mouth off on "honor, integrityand country." I am glad there are people in the media who are prepared to take him on when he is wrong or even not telling the whole truth and nothing but the truth. I commend Newsweek, tThe new York Times and The Washington Post for doing so. Apparently, the Emperor of ethics and integrity has no clothes. Dr. sam

Ah, it's the good Doctor of Inanity again. You commended the Times and Newsweek earlier. Any reason why you're blessing us again? (Oh, that's right. Inanity. I must be prophetic.)

man --talk about desperation--- the media will try to sensationalize anything

Really sad what the American people are saying about their own country. Sorry, I don't see any of the front-runners becoming President of the United States. They don't have the experience or even the thought process to run America. "It's all about them" and not the diverse country called America. The news broadcasters and the media are typically for the democrats and their thinking is not with the wealthy or well-off people. It's really too bad for the American people.

    • Posted By: manjoemoe @ 02/22/2008 6:49:38 PM

Just where does on get experience for "world most powerful person"?

  • Posted By: psjrc @ 02/22/2008 6:39:37 PM

    What are you talking about!
"Why are republicans so hateful?" "If McCain is so upright and honest how come he left his first wife for the bimbo he married?"
    Are you a republican?

    • Posted By: ISawYourMommy @ 02/22/2008 6:48:27 PM

Good point. Barbie Blaze, on her way to the strip bar, lets us know that Republicans are hateful while she bashes someone she's never met as being a bimbo. Super-idiot. Shake it good tonight, honey. I'll bring a few singles with me.

Ouch ... the Straight Talk express may have to pull into the station for an oil change. McCain's problem is similar to that of Mrs. Clinton crying "plagarism" and then having it shown that her moving remarks at the end of the debate last night were lifted from Bill Clinton and John Edwards: Americans hate hypocrites. Don't get up on a high horse if you don't have your saddle cinched. I think the NY Times erred in focusing on the nature of the relationship with Ms. Iseman as opposed to following the money and influence. That is the story and that hasn't yet begun to be played out.

  • Posted By: byebyeliberalbias @ 02/22/2008 5:01:42 PM

McKain, should have merely responded. "I think you might have me confused with Bill Clinton."
It's the same garbage the news tried with Bush and see where that got 'em. Can you say, "Hello President McKain".

I think you mean Muslim, not muslin.... Please, people, if you want your comments to be taken with one iota of seriousness, learn to spell! And while you're at it, check your facts before you go spewing crap.

    • Posted By: Nowingslc @ 02/22/2008 6:01:46 PM

Clinton wasn't "impeached" you idiot, Know your facts before you run your mouth.

      • Posted By: nikole17 @ 02/22/2008 6:36:26 PM

Why don't you check YOUR facts, IDIOT! He was impeached by House of Representatives in Dec 1998.

    • Posted By: Nowingslc @ 02/22/2008 6:04:03 PM

And how do you know what he is "in his heart"?

  • Posted By: Tess101 @ 02/22/2008 6:24:52 PM

McCain will not get my vote for the following reasons: McCain wants to keep our country at war if it takes 100 years, McCain's participation in the Keating Five scandal, McCain's defiance and unwillingness to disclose POW records/information in fear of possible treason charges and who knows what else, possible campaign corruption, and possible affair, just to name a few. The man is a liberal, who thinks Amnesty is okay for certain people, which the last time I check being illegal was a criminal offense.

    • Posted By: ISawYourMommy @ 02/22/2008 6:40:01 PM

Tess, this has got to be one of the stupidest comments I've read today. The WHOLE POINT of amnesty, in its general sense, is to excuse someone for acting in a manner contrary to laws or rules. And if the Justice Department really thought McCain was a traitor, he wouldn't be able to keep his service record private. In fact, it wouldn't even matter, because whatever is in his service record was sourced from somewhere else, and Justice could go to that other source. Now, back to the couch. I think Dora the Explorer is about to start.

  • Posted By: wtuley @ 02/22/2008 6:39:57 PM

I think most Americans see this article as a poorly executed, innuendo-laden attempt at political sabotage. Those of us, particularly, who support the other party would rather debate the real issues.

  • Posted By: Dr. Sam @ 02/22/2008 6:24:49 PM

Sen. McCain is full of contradictions, and has elavated his war service to point of making so many Americans treat him as a holy cow even when he is wrong and archaic on his ideas. Newsweek, New York Time and Washington post must be congratulated for taking him on. He wines and dines with lobbists and, as it seems, bends the truth to suit his personal goals. Simply put, the Emperor has no clothes on. Dr. Sam

    • Posted By: ISawYourMommy @ 02/22/2008 6:35:16 PM

Oh, and congratulations, New York Times and Newsweek, for doing what you do everyday! (Thanks for reminding me, Dr. Sam!) (Say, Dr. Sam, what are you a doctor of, anyway? Inanity, perhaps?)

    • Posted By: ISawYourMommy @ 02/22/2008 6:33:19 PM

Actually, it's "The emperor has no clothes." Another plagiary, of course. But what do you care? McCain's a liar, Hillary and Obama are not (or so I presume you think, since you didn't comment on their honesty). Idiot.

  • Posted By: wtuley @ 02/22/2008 6:33:40 PM

This innuendo-laden piece of poorly-executed political sabotage does not really deserve further attention. I think most Americans, even those of us who support the other party, would rather move on to more substantive discussions.

  • Posted By: An Observer @ 02/22/2008 6:27:13 PM

Can we end all of this crap, these "Politicians" have been running forever. Lets just draw straw,. Look at the reality here, anybone of these candidates perfect? Hillary and here clown husband sold thier collective souls to the devil years ago. I hate to think where Obama gets his green. McCain who here thinks he is without friends in the defense industry.

Lets just leave everything up to a Congress that is totally irresponsible, getting paid for not doing anything and then blaming everyone else for there flaws, or maybe a judicial system that can write up any law when ever they want. If you want an Angel give me a call.....I want to be KING!

  • Posted By: danbogdan777 @ 02/22/2008 6:06:56 PM

Well, that say enough about McCAIN FLIP-FLOP POSITIONS, to raise some questions about his integrity regarding a possible mandate entrusted tu him, as a future president.
Sorry Mr. McCAIN, but you can not make wrong decisions, hopping to somehow avoid the consequences which will naturaly follow sooner or latter.
Anyway, succes with your presidential campaign, ...

    • Posted By: ISawYourMommy @ 02/22/2008 6:26:01 PM

Mr. McCain asked me to pass this along. "Uh, yes I can." Idiot. Why would you address an online comment on Newsweek.com to him? Do you think he's going to read it? "Wow, look what the idiot said. I better change my ways."

  • Posted By: Tex Snork @ 02/22/2008 5:20:18 PM

Reading both the original New York Times story and now this, it seems both stories lack any real substance. They both provide absolutely no evidence of any improper conduct by Mccain, but instead each attempts to create contraversy by claiming some people MAY have believed that Sen. McCain's actions could merely have the appearance of improper conduct. Sen. Mccain is not the candidate I will be voting for in November, but it is clear that both of these stories are simply pathetic attempts by left wing media organizations to damage the eventual Republican presidential nominee.

    • Posted By: manjoemoe @ 02/22/2008 6:24:38 PM

This is nothing compared to what W did to McCain in 2000.

  • Posted By: rab015 @ 02/22/2008 6:22:57 PM

As a republican, I don't mind investigative journalism on both sides as long as it's pertinent information the public should be aware of. I would think journalism is partly defined as providing truth and with truth comes hard facts....no "maybe's", no "we think" , no "it looks like" and no "could's or would's". Journalism should have names, dates, quotes and alot of definites. No where in the NYT's did journalism show itself. As for the Newsweek article, it's just a pathetic ambulance chasing article that is reaching for straws.

I worked at a Savings and Loan in 1988. Many of our retired customers in the State of Arizona were outraged at Sen. McCain and his involvement in the scandal. Many of these retired folks lost their entire savings and had to rely on Social Security to live. Up to that point I fully supported Sen. McCain, but I have never been satisfied with his explanation and involvement in the "Savings and Loan scandal." It seems to me he has been in one scandal after another since then. Why do American's so quickly forget? I live in a county in Southern Arizona that fully supported Mitt Romney because he isn't scandal ridden. I also know other Arizona counties where Romney beat McCain. What does this say about John McCain? Does America see Governor Romney as too good to be true? What???s wrong with "being good for goodness sake?" I am completely weary of the whole process and find no relief on the Democratic side either!

  • Posted By: od23 @ 02/22/2008 6:21:22 PM

Actually MERCP, Bill Clinton was impeached. Later, he was aquitted. You might be mistaking impeachment for removal from office. Look it up http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Impeachment_of_Bill_Clinton

  • Posted By: Rubensr @ 02/22/2008 4:02:27 PM

I guess my mind is made up! We are tired fo the same old lying and politics as usual, we need a change and I guess Obama is the ticket. Nothing to lose.!

    • Posted By: cjbphoto @ 02/22/2008 4:10:59 PM

We got that from Clinton for 8 years. WE KNOW HE CHEATED ON HIS WIFE,YET NO ONE CARES THAT WE DO KNOW WHAT MCCAIN DID OR DID NOT DO. We need to ask Obama about his gay lover and see what happens.

      • Posted By: brr1978 @ 02/22/2008 6:20:47 PM

Obama's gay lover? You are such an idiot.

      • Posted By: markmier @ 02/22/2008 4:15:29 PM

Some dude on the street said that McCain is really Satan! And Bush is Satan's gay lover! It must be true! Also, Rush Limbaugh wears women's panties and eats ball bearings for breakfast every day!
WHY DOESN'T THE COMMIE LIBERAL MEDIA REPORT ON THIS STORY???
        /snark

  • Posted By: mwiegand @ 02/22/2008 5:47:52 PM

It appears John McCain can easily be bought, and should drop out of the presidential race

    • Posted By: ISawYourMommy @ 02/22/2008 6:20:27 PM

Okay. I'll pass that along to him for his consideration over the weekend. Idiot.
