Well if playing footsie with lobbyists is the anti-McCain war cry, I'd have to say that the gentleman with 50 yrs. of service to his country, looks to be in high cotton. His likely opponent. Hussein Obama takes bribes and handles legal issues for his indicted slum-lord fellow mohammed brother, Sheik Resko. I think these type relationships SHOULD become a vocal point of discussion.

However, this is not a major issue. ALL-100% of politicians of any power, have lobbyist bedfellows. This is the way it works. This is NORMAL.

The isuue of greatest importance is our existence as a nation. There are TENS OF MILLIONS of mohammeds calling for our destruction. John McCain understands the danger. Hussein wants to talk and discuss the issue. Hang out, make new friends. RIGHT. John McCain sees victory. Hussein sees new opportunity for a terrorist group hug. Cry, apoligize, and CHANGE.

America wake up. This election is about

AMERICAN HERO vs Islamic sympathizer Don't be an idiot.

      HolyRoller,
The crusades ended centuries ago; can you see who is in charge of that part of the world? It's there land and we should get the hell out. They are killing us there because we are there. If your goal is to ferment another religious war, you are on the right track. But for the rest of us who are not planning a Big Rapture party any time real soon, be a buddy and don't involve the rest of us in your delusion view of the world. Remember Holier then Thou, if you can question one religion you can question them all.

Can we end this crap! Just draw straws to see which of these fools can be President for the next few years. I am so tired of listening to find out who is the greatest crook. Hillary and the Clown sold thier souls to the devil years ago, I hate to think where Obama gets his cash, and for McCain I have to believe defense contractors like this guy. Really what difference does it make, Congress blames everybody but themselves and the Judges make up laws as needed. Shoot, you want a perfect angel I volunteer.

McCain is a well-established, although not very good liar as his record reveals. There are de-classified documents available that also absolutely debunk his war hero personna and prove him to be a collaborator.
His "straight-talk express: is merely smoke and mirrors to fool the gullible. Power has a tendency to corrupt and now he wants more..maybe absolute corruption?
I see a post that opposes a namby-pamby democrat in favor of a steel eyed conservative. Sounds good but McCain's record PROVES that he is NOT a conservative, but a liberal gun-grabber who politically sleeps in the same bed with Ted Kennedy, Feingold, Lieberman, Schumer and the traitorous crowd denying the Second Ammendment; not to mention the whole Constitution and Bill of Rights.
The elephantsand the donkeys all live in the same stable owned by the same special interests so it makes NO difference which horse wins the race.....EXCEPT FOR RON PAUL ---WHOSE PROVEN VOTING RECORD IS ALL BASED ON THE CONSTITUTION --FOR YEARS, AND FOR THE RECORD.
Hillary, Obamma or a yellow dog with a broken leg are all much better choices than "honest" John Mc.

Ron Paul is a bigotted, racist and dangerous idiot

Number one-Bill Clinton is not running for President.
Number two-Accepting such gifts from lobbies does lead one to question one's ethics.
Number three-How about finding out the facts about inappropriate contaqct instead of trying to justify such
behavior with statement's like everyone does it" which any ethics student can tell you fallacious.
Number four-The position of President of the United States is one where we try to put someone that has NOT shown an y favoritism to lobbies in the past NOR inappropriate sexual behavior. Obviously this was demonstrated by the Bill Clinton investigation and impeachment of the past. So an investigation of this by REPUBLICAN standards would seem most appropriate. I have a problem with all of you trying to argue to "just forget it ". That try did not work with Bill Clinton's acusations that led to his impeachment. Why should we employ a double standard in this case involving John McCain?

BTW Bill was never impeached. And if you tihnk any of the candidates are innocent of taking money from buisness, you are dillusional

McCain is no different from the other power mongrels (men) --they all have women on the side -let's be for real. No adviser or aide should have to tell a grown intelligent man what is -or is not- proper behavior. The problem is that these power mongrels think that they are not to be held to any standards of decency or law.

    • Posted By: ISawYourMommy @ 02/22/2008 6:14:36 PM

Hello, sexist. Nice to see you again. Your comment, distilled, is this: Men suck, and only men suck. Beat it. Another example of stupidity in a country awash with it.

Does anyone else wonder about the timing of this taking away from the coverage on
Mrs. Obama---prideful of her country statement---The NYT should have released this
earlier if they wanted to do John McCain damage---he's all but nominated--and this will
be forgotten in the upcoming malestrom.

Just another sad time in American Politics... criticize Obama your a racist... Criticize Hillary you are afraid of women leadership... critcize McCain and you are anti-military... no matter who you are or party you represent look at the real issues and challenges facing our country... and be careful of what you believe when reading today's seemingly increasing "tabloid" media/journalism... research and act on what will save our dying country and patriotism to defend and fight for... if we don't we we all lose...

  • Posted By: eddie o @ 02/22/2008 12:43:55 PM

I wish there was someone in Washington who was free of all these types of contacts. All three candidates are talking about change yet all three are members of the Senate. If the Senate is as useless as an agent of change why don't we amend the constitution and get rid of it. Why Wyoming (no offense to Wyoming or the two Dakotas) gets two senators and California or New York gets the same number in this day and age makes no sense at all

    • Posted By: mouseinboots @ 02/22/2008 12:51:52 PM

I say we vote out all of these senators when they come up for re-election, since the majority of them do not have the best interest of America in mind but their own personal agenda's, especially Osama.

      • Posted By: danil @ 02/22/2008 1:04:11 PM

Listen, I don't care what your stance is. But to blantly call Barack OBAMA by a know terrosit name is utterly disrespectful, in poor taste, ans ridiculous!!

        • Posted By: quixel4321 @ 02/22/2008 1:39:20 PM

Not anymore then Obama saying Hilliary was using the race card and making racist staements when in fact it was Obama his wife and others using race to further his career. To me that is far more ridicules and disgusting and what tears America and other countries apart.IT has helped Obama immensly though to tell his voters she hate them so Vote for me Because inm the same color as you. That is as Racist as you can get and truly disgusting so you need to re evaluate what you consider distatesful or should everyone vote based on color?

          • Posted By: danil @ 02/22/2008 6:12:56 PM

I did NOT mention a thing about race or someone being racist...I am only speaking in terms of using the proper name. His name is OBAMA. Please be sure to read with understanding BEFORE responding.

mouseinboots, what you should have told eddie is that his comments are offensive to Wyoming and the Dakotas. The number of senators and representatives is laid out in THE CONSTITUTION. I am sure you both have heard of it. Now try reading it.

As for sentatorial agenda, have you ever contacted either of your senators to give him or her your opinions or suggestions? If you are not engaged in the political process, you can't [b***h] complain. It is at this level where constituents can practice real democracy, or something approaching it.

By the way, referring to one of the democratic candidates as "Osama" is so yesterday and so junior high. Not to mention millions of people in this soon-to-be-great-again country disagree with you. Hillary or Barack, either would be a tremendous president. Hopefully, the first thing either would do is to encourage the two of you to get your GEDs; with a double portion of civics. You see, they both believe in the Unted States. They are FOR THE PEOPLE. Even for people like yourselves who just live to complain.

As for McCain, I have always tried to think well of him because of his war experience and his willingness to reach across the Senate aisle to work with Democrats. It turns out he is just another Republican. So very sad.

    • Posted By: ikie12pts @ 02/22/2008 1:47:03 PM

Eddie O....it's time to apply for your GED. Get busy. Maybe you can earn it by November, just in time to vote.

    • Posted By: jesuisq @ 02/22/2008 1:08:24 PM

You ignorance of the purpose of the US Senate is amazing. Before you start pushing for ammendment to the constitution, go read and understand it.

    • Posted By: Dan Maloy @ 02/22/2008 1:07:31 PM

Well, "eddie o", there used to be. That is, until short-sighted, media-driven Americans didn't vote for him. And even then, what did a vast number of people do when he chose to not take money from lobbyists and the government for his campaign? They accused him of essentially trying to buy his way into the White House.

      Yes, I'm talking about Romney.

If America is reeeeeally lucky, he'll decide to run in 2012. Will our country be wise enough to recognize a man with character then or not? They sure can't now.....

  • Posted By: danbogdan777 @ 02/22/2008 6:12:37 PM

Well, I think that small detail, says enough about Senator McCAIN FLIP-FLOP POSITIONS, along the road, and at least raise a question in y mind: ..."How in the world (Mr. McCAIN), would you think that you can make wrong decisions, but still somehow try to avoid the negative consequences that wil follow, sooner or latter ?"

By the way: Succes with your presidential campaign...

  • Posted By: chapyone @ 02/22/2008 6:10:12 PM

I think it is about time the you "*** hounds" start reporting news with some substance. If your not trying to destroy someones character with some fantasy. It would seem that an organization such as yours would be concerned about publishing facts and facts only. It would do this entire world a great deal or good if no one was aloud to publish a comment, unless the individuals name who made the accusation or statement was published along with it. GRC

I am sick of this smear campaign on the character of Sen. John Mccain. Since when did publications like Newsweek, Time New York Times, The New Republic Move On.org, The Daily Kos, and so on become devoid of anything resembling journalism that The National Enquirer, Star Sun,etc. look so much like the former mentioned rags until the reader at the checkout would not know which one to find the best gossip?
The whole damn thing is no more than a distraction which will in the long run serve no useful purpose, and only create even more distrust in the "journalism" of today, and will continue apathy in the hearts and minds of many more Americans. What a disgraceful waste of time, energy, and paper! MCDSPLACE in Macon,Ga.

    Wow,
This was sent through the ringer many years ago and he was found innocent of all the charges brought by the Democrats. I imagine that the Democrats are really worried that Senator McCain will win this thing. I know he will win due to his correct stance on the economy, taxes, the war and his conservative values. Obama/Clinton are too left of center, calling for a socialist takeover of a huge sector of our economy. Sounds like something Hugo Chavez would do in Venezuela.

  • Posted By: billygoat @ 02/22/2008 5:35:53 PM

McCain is an established, but not very good, liar.
So much for the "straight-talk express.
Merely another corrupot politician our nation would be better off without.
In response to not wanting a democrat (below)..he;s NO conservative, and he sleeps in the same bed withTed Kennedy, Feingold, Lieberman and Schumer who all want to destroy the Second Ammendment--Traitors.

    • Posted By: manjoemoe @ 02/22/2008 6:03:56 PM

billygoat , It's the second AMMENDMENT, it means someone had a second thoughts about it the original constituion so they made some changes. They changed there mind they wer progressive and liberal enough to admit a mistake, something my friends on the right tend to forget. The 10 commandments were carved in stome, not the consitution. If you are in such a big hurry to have a gun in your hand, enlist, and head to Iraq, we need more gun ho types like you there, where they are not afraid to arm a militia or two.

  • Posted By: LOST: President Regan's America @ 02/22/2008 6:02:30 PM

Another sad day in American politics - If you criticize Obama your a racist... or your afraid to have a Black President... this is ridiculous. Criticize Hillary your against Women leadership... criticize McCain you must be afraid of getting old... let's get real... no matter who you are or what party you represent research real issues that will matter with the future of this country and act on them... but whatever you do, do not act on the basis of the nations media which seemingly has become more about tabloid issues verses the real issues facing our country's future.

  • Posted By: jbonag01 @ 02/22/2008 4:57:02 PM

Doesn't surprise me -- I am amazed however that everyone has forgotten about Lincoln Savings and Loan - and the Keating Five (McCain being a part of the five senators who help Keating (an Arizona banker) who bilked millions of dollars from investors in the failed Lincoln Savings and Loan -- prompted by involvement by the senators to dissuade regulators from following proper proceedures.

    • Posted By: ISawYourMommy @ 02/22/2008 6:01:28 PM

Apparently you haven't been reading the comments, because it seems that very few people have actually forgotten about the Keating 5.

  • Posted By: herk123 @ 02/22/2008 5:09:16 PM

Your reporter John Fuyr (sp) was just on CNN and what a cop out he is. He reacted to the opposite of what this article sugests. I guess you people at Newsweek are McCain supporters?
Anyway.......Mc Cains reaction of "I don't recall" smells like the situation with Gonzolez who repeatedly said "I can't recall".
Did you conveiniently leave out McCain's history with the Keating Five scandel? Just trrying to move things along hunh??? It would have been unimportant if it was just about moving things along. People write letters because they want something to go their way. We all know money moves mountains and it moved McCain to go to bat for a "constituent" who turned out to be an old friend from his Navy days.
So why should we beleive McCain on anything he says...except for us being in Iraq for 100 or so years (or until it bankrupts us).
Oh and Sen. McCain.......Woodstock was a major musical history event...sorry you were tied up at that time.

    • Posted By: Keltic @ 02/22/2008 6:00:04 PM

Can't figure out if you are TRYING to make a joke about McCain being a POW or ignorant to the fact that his response to not being at Woodstock was due to the fact that he was a POW? I really like jokes...However, the former would not be funny in the slightest, and even offensive...while the latter (if you really didn't know he was a POW for several years) is both funny (see Jay Leno's 'Jay Walking' bits) and a said comment on both the public's awareness of key people in American government and our educational system. So please let me know if your intent was to insult all veterans and POWs or just display the fact that you are a moron.

Of all of the candidates for the presidency, only one refused help from the lobbists. As John Edwards said, "It is hypocritical to speak of bringing change while still playing the same old Washington lobbyists game." It is no coincidence that Edwards has already be elimated from the competition. With their bottomless pockets, the lobbies manipulate Congress and the voters who elect them. We have surrendered our country to them.

You christians don't know because, UNFORTUNATELY, you aren't dead yet. Stop pretending you can read god's mind.
