Can someone please enlighten me and tell me if any of Obama's speeches ever end with "God bless America"? I'm not sure if I heard him or not. Maybe that would stop the religious inuendos if he is indeed christian as we know christianity to be. Otherwise havng been a follower of Louis Farakhan, (please forgive me if I spelled his name wrong) who believes in the destruction of the United States, if this is true, isn't that like sending the cows to slaughter?
I know you should never mix religion and politics yet every other candidate has always made referrence to the loyalties of the United States as one nation under God.
I guess like marketingtruth has been trying to tell us, think and look at the facts. Read this read that and when we do it gets scarier and scarier. Where are we heading?

Obama has promised the Teamsters he "...will fight to rebuild our transportation infrastructure,??? and
he will work with the teamsters "to address critical issues from our ports to our highways, rails
and airports." Also he has convinced Teamster Jimmy Hoffa Jr, that he is the president who is focused on rebuilding America.
SEIU is convinced Obama is the one "...with the best vision, best plan and best strategy to achieve economic justice, quality, affordable healthcare for every American, the freedom for workers to unite in unions, and an end to the Iraq war."
Lets see, he will need to keep his promise to the Teamsters, SEIU, the young voters, the male population, did I miss anybody?
So where on this agenda will he have time to unite the divided country? Or better yet, did everyone forget he has to unite the democratic party as well?
So I am supposed to throw Clinton and her economic plan, healthcare plan (which by the way has been acknowledged as one of the best), her take on Iraq, a fighter for all human rights, and trust someone who does not think doublespeaking and plagerising is wrong, crumbles under pressure, out the perverbial window? NOT. I don't think so!!!
I will continue on the hope that Hillary is not down for the count.
Obama's healthcare plan punishes the parents of the children required to have healthcare. He condemns NAFTA yet votes to extend it. He's willing to sacrifice our country to sit down talks. He voted present without taking a stand on issues of concern.
As for the tarnishment of the White House, his predecessor he continues to quote, tarnished it a long time ago. Or did we convieniently forget?
Hillary is the one with the solutions to afford change. Also her life is an open book so scandal is nothing compared to what will be coming out of Obama's closet.

If an Obama/Clinton ticket dooms the democrats, as Jrmapu suggests, the fault will lie on those Clinton supporters like Jrmapu, who have already vowed to either vote for McCain, or not vote at all. Yet none of these folks have put forth any reason why Obama is uncapable of leading this country, other than referring to their crytal ball of intuition that tells them he can't be trusted. How convincing. And this deceiving tactic of portraying Clinton as the helpless victim of Obama attacks is equally ludicrous. Clinton has been on the offensive ever since Obama's popularity was apparent, even to the point of using her ex-President hubby, a man I once admired, to stir up unfounded and irrelavant controversy. If this were a hockey game, Clinton would have a 3 to 1 lead on " shots on goal". Clearly Obama's shots, however, have scored more goals.

Say what you may but if you think about it, Obama is a motivator he can motivate people to believe in democracy once again. Hillary can do the job now not four years down the road. Again that would make the difference between 4 to 8 years or 8 to 16 years of great teamwork. Ralph Nader just leveled the playing field for either presidential candidate in November. The White House may once again be taken away from the Democrats because of not doing the long term planning. Oh well. I cannot vote for someone just because they are on a democratic ticket. I have to believe in that person. I believe Hillary can get the job done. He is still in training. He can't even do an ad without stumbling. That comes from lack of experience and not knowing your subject matter.

I just had an interesting conversation with a friend of mine. We both have our opinions. He wants Obama because he is tired of the Bush/Clinton/bush era and Hillary's position on the NAFTA voten and the Iraq war. Well she may have voted to fund the support of the troops but Obama supported the extension of NAFTA allowing the process of hispanic laborers being allowed overtime when our country is dealing with layoffs. Also I think why the democrats is continually being elluded the White House is because they are thinking short term, not long term. An Obama/Clinton tincket will doom the democrats. A Clinton/Obama ticket will bring hope of the future. This is the difference between a 4 to 8 year run or a 8 to 16 year run. Especially with Ralph Nader running again. Obama has attract voters 2 to 1 only because no one wants a Clinton. Throw Nader into the mix, the playing field is leveled. Demopcrats may be left out in the cold again. Another food for thought.

As A woman, the reporter should know that desperate candidate is anything but desperate. Emotional-yes. Hillary is never desperate. What she knows is that if she goes down, the party goes down. Rove has hi-jacked the race. Without republican crossovers Obama would not be ahead. He would be way behind. Those republican crossovers won't be there in the general election. Mr. Rove's republican candidate will be in the driver's seat again. Who ever that turns out to be. Hillary connects with all the voters. She just is fighting Obama and Rove. Not supposed to be that way, but the dems have let him cross the line again.

Desparate? If this article was about Obama at this stage...the headline would read something like "...fighting til the end" or "...turning up the heat to overcome his opponents momentum". Mrs Smalley, why run up to the fence and stop there....climb over the fence why don't you and show your true bias by saying...."....HIllary's last ditch effort before she evaporates like the w__ch that she is..." The double sexist standars in this race has been appalling against this woman. If you analyze all the headlines featuring HIllary's up to the point, they have all been negative...using such words as desparate, last ditch, attack, emotional, gloom, bad day, nasty........but when compared to headlines of Obamas in good or bad stories...his has been...fighting back, speaking out, inspiring, dismissing critics, taken out of context, criticism explained.....bla bla bla. The surprise is not that this election has shocked me by how sexist the media has been against this woman but by how women of this country has been the only group to see the double sexist standards that's been played out in this race. All people who's got a daughter, wife, sister, neice or girlfriend needs to pay close attention to this because while we may have come far with race....we are shameful with the lack of respect we have for such a capable female candidate.

Sen. Clintons' problems are based on her willingness to play dirty tricks on her opponent, including using her wandering husband as a rabid dog surrugate, using African American Bob Johnson to imply that Sen. Obama was once a drug dealer, ad nauseum. We are sooooo tired of the Bush kind of trash talk //divisiveness that We need relief from it . Hillary has started an "anything to win" war. whic is disturbing to many democrats, Independants and some Republicans who are also weary of our past ten years of anger, frustration and disappointment. Ironically, trying to dirty up Barak Obama is like hitting a pillow. He doesn't play dirty tricks and those of us who yearn for a new, better, more united nation, flock to the polls! She is a smart, sometimes charming woman, she has lived in the White House and has knowledge about how politics -- good and bad --- work. He is just simply a better choice for America at this time in our history. And it shows. JMB

      • Posted By: Jrmapu @ 02/24/2008 1:22:42 PM

Hello, dirty politics have been part of the political arena for years. Obama has been playing dirty, you're just choosing to NOT face that reality.

  • Posted By: Politico Journo @ 02/24/2008 11:43:56 AM

May I remind the public that the words that Sen. Clinton said that moved the audience included her images of wounded heroes trying to move on thier own although hardly able to do so? I suggest that the press helped her by leaving out her use of our heroes to demonstrate her "caring nature" to the Texas audience. we were moved by our heroes courage, not hers. Reminds me of Mayor Giuliano's use of 9-11 to gain votes. This is the woman who voted to send these men and women into harm's way. She voted not once for Iraq, but voted recently to extend Bush's money for continuation of the same. Sorry, Hillary, I don't buy it. JMB a journalist who's been there, heard it all, seen it all in politics and was disgusted.

    • Posted By: ports @ 02/24/2008 12:59:41 PM

Yeah, that would be great -cut all the funding and watch all the boys over there just be killed off. Brilliant idea Politico Journo. No, Hillary is a leader and she will bring them safely home where they need to be.

    • Posted By: Jrmapu @ 02/24/2008 12:00:39 PM

Again, Hillary cannot stop supporting the troops. They are there, we are here. Its easy for us to say to stop all funding. We need to bring them home than make hard decisions about stopping the funds to Iraq. For a journalist whom have been there done that, you sure are biased. Obama is doing exactly what you're sayin except because of his lack of experience he is not credible.

  • Posted By: Jammetrymon @ 02/24/2008 11:29:08 AM

Critisizing Hillary for her Nafta flip-flop, her support to invade Iraq, and her corporate ties with Walmart while claiming to support better working conditions, are not sexist comments. I have no reservations in supporting a woman candidate, anymore than supporting a black, hispanic or oriental candidate. I suppose if the frontrunner were an Afro-cuban jewish lesbian whose parents were illegal immigrants, then any one who opposes her is a sexist,,racist, homophobic bigot. No doubt, Hillary is a capable candidate, and I will vote for her if she wins. But for now, media or no media, Obama is clearly the better candidate. And if his nomination leads to further racial and religious attacks from the right, so be it. I can only hope that the the conscience of our country will not be influenced by these morons. If they are, then it really doesn't matter who wins the Democratic nomination does it?

    • Posted By: ports @ 02/24/2008 12:56:18 PM

No one is calling anyone a sexist for using personal thoughts on the views of each candidate. I do call someone a sexist, however, when they use swear words to describe someone or use their gender in reference to why they would not vote for them. However, Obama has used the above slams that you mention regarding Hillary which when she stated Obama's past, was considered slamming him. As far as her support to invade Iraq, that is a bit unfair also. If Bush had not lied to the congress about there being weapons of mass destruction in Iraq, the move to go there would have been legitimized. Congress was fed a bill of goods and Bush is the culprit, not Hillary. By the way, Obama would certainly be speaking a different tune if weapons had been found. His decision was not necessarily the best one at all for this country. But that is what I am afraid of, that he will cower in the White House and not make a tough decision when the time comes and we will all pay for it. He may be a chrismatic person but a leader-NO.

Jrmapu, sounds like you just did "tell the people" about NAFTA, and the answer is, that it's easier for people of intelligence to realize that if someones husband created this dreadful job-stealling premise with you support and counsel, then the candidate went on to support it & even mention it in her book as the best thing since white bread...at that point no one's even interested in who did what after NAFTA became law. And since the democratic vote is turning out 300 to 100 for this election, your lost vote makes it 299 to 100 by election time...so enjoy your vacation from voting, it won't be missed!

    • Posted By: ports @ 02/24/2008 12:35:55 PM

AND OBAMA VOTED TO EXTEND NAFTA. That's a little like the "pot calling the kettle black".

    • Posted By: Jrmapu @ 02/24/2008 11:45:35 AM

If NAFTA is so bad than why support to extend and continue the injustice? He not only doublespeaks but he sets double standards.

As a nation we have endured 20 years of ups and downs. The only difference is, the ups was when Bill Clinton was in office. We were prosperous and no one was trying to kill us or mocking our current President as America's greatest failure. I do agree we need change because the problems were not here only the last 20 years but the last 2008 years. Think about it, the males have been engaging our country in wars since the inception of the United States.
We finally have women on the Supreme Court, the speaker of the house is a woman, women have positions of authority and they are doing a GREAT job.
Its time for male dominance to step aside and allow a woman to lead the United States. Its not too late to do the right thing and vote for a woman who's voice is our voice. She knows the problems and can make the changes we need currently not down the road. I don't want to wait another 4 years while Obama learns how to use his fast pace brain to voice what we the people need.
Her healthcare plan is solid, her foreign affairs skills are sharp, her economy plan is great to guide the US out of the recession we are slowly plummeting to, she uses her voice to fight for human rights, she has a plan to bring the troops home , and her experienced leadership skills are what America needs NOW. Its not too late to vote for the First Woman President who is more than qualified to lead this country to greatness. Remember the major states are Texas, Ohio, and Pennsylvania because they are the rich delegate states. But every state is a rich delegate state for Hillary Rodham Clinton.
Every young girl will have hope to become what many women have been trying to do for years, prove they are worthy of position in a male dominant society .
It is time for change but we need solutions so change can happen.

I watched his video stint about obesity, he used doubletalk. He's good at that. Can't solve problems if you have no solutions or even plans to the solutions. This is in character with his inexperience and knowledge of the subject. Tha't is very scary that people want this person only to give us another four years of trumoil and indecisiveness.

GALLUP POLL TODAY: CLINTON - Obama 47%-45% BUT OHIO AND TEXAS WILL MAKE THE DIFFERENCE ! PENN WILL PUT THE FINAL SEAL ! BUT FLORIDA AND MICHIGAN WILL HAVE THE LAST AUDIT SIGNITURE !!!

  • Posted By: Jrmapu @ 02/24/2008 3:11:11 AM

Here's one of those closeted questions, why don't the Teamsters and Obama people tell others why Obama voted to extend NAFTA to South America? Especially since he is hell bent out of shape and criticizing the Clintons especially Hillary for supporting it, which by the way is a fairy tale? She did not support NAFTA.

    • Posted By: GTX13 @ 02/24/2008 11:29:25 AM

WHY obama VOTED TO EXTEND NAFTA ?! Just simple ! SAYING IS ONE THING AND DOING IS ANOTHER !

  • Posted By: Jammetrymon @ 02/24/2008 1:51:11 AM

Before the Iowa Caucus, when Clinton was the clear front runner, I was confident that the Democrats were in a win-win situation. With our hopes pinned on Clinton, Edwards, or Obama, it seemed a slam dunk that we would be victorious in 2008 over any candidate from the Bush War party. Now with all this "I'm switching my vote to McCain if Hillary doesn't win" nonsense, I'm not so sure. Most political experts will tell you that with respect to the issues, there is little difference between the two remaining Democratic candidates. The only major differences I see are in the manner in which they manage their campaigns and their character in responding to each others talking points. Anyone who is stupid enough to vote for McCain as a means of revenge for not getting their way, might as well join the Republican party, abandon their principles of justice, hope and democracy, join the crusade of hate, and prepare for another hundred years in Iraq, as McCain has promised. Maybe then, they'll be happy. If not, they'll have nobody to blame but themselves.

    • Posted By: Jrmapu @ 02/24/2008 3:10:05 AM

Kind of hard to be in a war for a hundred years unless you intend to be president for one hundred years. If Hillary does not get the nomination, I may not vote at all. Because what you're saying is if I don't vote democrat then I must be stupid and I should join the Republican party. Been there, done that. I'm going independent next. This country is so torn. I have to vote my concious not yours. Obama is who lead this charge because he was impatient. He did not want to wait. Now he's using slanderous campaigning techniques and all of you look at the trees and are seeing nothing wrong there. If no Hillary we will be in trouble for another 4 years.

  • Posted By: Jrmapu @ 02/23/2008 11:16:52 PM

If any of you Hillary supporters want to ensure our candidate gets a fair shot, email your delegates as to why you feel Hillary would make a great leader and commander in chief. I already did. Its not too late. Hillary can still win the nomination and implement her solutions to change now, not four years from now..

    • Posted By: ports @ 02/24/2008 12:46:04 AM

Hillary Clinton will be president because she is the best candidate that we have to get our country out of the trouble that it is in now. We are desperately in need of a comprehensive health insurance program. I have talked to a lot of people about this and most people don't realize what a problem we have in this country. People work all of their lives and lose everything that they planned to live on in their old age or leave to their children because their health insurance runs out. Do you realize that there is a cap on the amount of insurance that is paid out for illness? One devastating heart surgery or cancer illness can take it all and there is nothing you can do about it. Your home, money, even your auto as happened to someone I spoke to told me. This should not be allowed to happen in this country. Hillary has the only program that answers this. Folks, even if you are young, it can happen to you. You would spend the rest of your life trying to pay the bills. I have seen people crying because they don't know where to turn and know there is no solution for the problem. Hillary is willing to help us get a solution to the problem. HELP HER HELP US!!!!!

      • Posted By: Jrmapu @ 02/24/2008 2:38:33 AM

Obama is a fresh face that has not been tarnished yet. When the nomination is done, the tarnishment will start. The young people do not understand the real issuesbecause mommy and daddy have been taking care of thier needs majority of thier lives. I see those people you're talking about on a daily basis. The said part is some I can help with thier medical and others are too late when they realize we can help them. They are stuck with medical bills sending them to collection. tThis stays on thier credit report as a negative. Haunting them when they need credit. No young person can answer the question are they ready to take care of thier parents or grandparents? Healthcare is the difference between putting food on the table and a roof over your head or purchasing medication.

I believe that you are missing an important point regarding the "Hillary moment" at the debate in Austin.
what so many people were responding to was Hillary's move to unity.
A move to say, hey if it is ok for you to use the lines of others I will too because it is all in thefamily.
What also moved many folks was the appearance that Hillary might actually acknowledge the hardships she helped inflict upon thousands of American service members and their families through her war authorization.
An authorization that she refuses to apologize for approving or her neglect in reading the Special National Security Estimate that went along with it.
The "Hillary moment" was remarkable because so many in the party have been hoping that Hillary could actually display some emotion over the suffering she has helped heap upon so many, both here and in Iraq.
Many of us are now waiting to see if she can follow up this beginning with a substantive effort to bind the wounds of war within our society and the wounds of dissension within the party for the good of everyone.

      paul962 --

      She gets it, huh?

You have read an awful lot into this thoroughly scripted "moment" that has not been (nor will it be) acknowledged by Senator Clinton or her campoaign; so she can thus continue to have it both ways.

The technique is a close cousin to the "what he really meant to say" offered by surrogates that Bush has so successfulluy employed.

      Shop it elsewhere.

      • Posted By: solvera @ 02/23/2008 11:05:19 AM

What are you talking about? Of course it's been acknowledged by her campaign. I received an email from them with a link to the video clip, and so did a ton of other people.

        • Posted By: clikdawg @ 02/23/2008 2:30:49 PM

So you and "a ton of others" got an e-mail with a link to the video clip of what, solvers? The "magic moment", with a formal acknowledgment that Hillary Clinton has helped heap a lot of suffering "upon so many, both here and in Iraq", as paul962 put it?l962 put it. They really say that in that e-mail, chum? Really? Well, since I didn't get a copy, perhaps you could reproduce that campaign mea culpa for me right here and now, since the press seems to be keeping that admission well under its hat.

          • Posted By: ports @ 02/24/2008 2:23:18 AM

Probably didn't send it to the Republican like you.

  • Posted By: Jammetrymon @ 02/24/2008 1:03:32 AM

Despite his lesser degree of experience in Washington, Obama is clearly the better suited candidate. Besides, it seems as though the "experienced" politicians in Washington are the one's who got us into this mess in the first place. Irrational statements by Clinton supporters that they will vote for McClain if Obama wins the nomination, is only hurting the respectability of her support base, underlying the increasing gains by the Democratic party, and will only result in "embolding the enemy", (as those on the dark side like to say). Despite my allegiance to Obama, I would gladly vote for Clinton if she manages to pull this off. Lets not lose sight of the big picture. People are suffering in America and around the world as a result of these Republican morons. Don't let your criticism of the other candidate allow you to forget that the worst democratic candidate is infinitely superior to the best Republican candidate.

    • Posted By: ports @ 02/24/2008 2:18:54 AM

I will remember but you will pardon me if I don't agree with you about who is the best candidate. Hillary is by far the better candidate not just because of her experience but because her ideas are clear and concise. I really don't know who Obama is. All of his speeches are about making change with no clear ideas of what change he is talking about. Hillary has stated precisely what she will do about the economy, the war, health insurance and many other relavent issues. She answers the questions without diverting our attention from the question asked. I really don't know what the hoopla is about Obama except people seem to like his upbeat attitude. Great! That will get us a lot done. What will he do for this country? He won't say. So everyone beats Hillary up on the issues and no one has anything to say about Obama's stand on the issues because we don't know where he stands. That's not who I want for president.
