I've got nothing to hide either, but that doesn't mean that I want some government yahoo nosing around on a whim. Desiring and expecting personal privacy is not surreptitious behavior and does not equate to having something to hide.
Well, unless you're a democratic government. Refusing to discuss the program with the elected representatives, refusing any attempts at oversight, ignoring established procedures and laws, and attempting to retroactively legalize activities are behaviors of a group of people with either something to hide or a complete contempt for the rule of law
