Hillary's health care plan is hardly socialistic. This is too bad; I wish it was. We pay anyway, on the other end, for people who don't have health care, so why not organize the system so it works effectively and doesn't provide inflated profit to insurance companies. Besides the transfer of payment, lack of health care for people (who are our neighbors) causes decreases in job productivity and thus affects our economy and our society. Besides that economic incentive, providing health care is simply the right thing to do. Why would you deny providing medical help to someone who needs it? Regardless if you may feel that a person hasn't worked his or her share to "earn" medical coverage, our morals tell us it is simply the right thing to do.

In November I will vote republican for the first time in my life. No one warned me that this election was for '"Pin Up" of the US. It is sad that many are so blinded by fairy dust that they are willing to risk their very lives on someone with a 3 word vocabulary: Hope, Change and uuuhhh............Hope. Hello republicans here come the democrats not drunk on Obama juice.

This is precisely what is wrong with the media's current role in politics; the fact that it was a title story on my homepage speaks wonders; I can only wonder how many people skimmed the headline and let the clandestine vitriole seep in. I am not, nor will I ever be, a supporter of Hillary Clinton. But the fact that bumbling pundits feel the need to decide for the people that a candidate is no longer in the running simply bacause he or she says so is utterly reprehensible. This is what keeps democracy from working -when big media turns politics into a petty spectator sport. Sadly enough, the hoi polloi trusts the media and sadly enough, they allow themselves to be spoonfed such tripe. When a big figure condemns a (potentially) good candidate as "having no chance," people believe that this candidate "does not have a chance" despite the fact that they are indeed a good candidate. Perhaps, media pundit, there are times to keep that gaping mouth closed.

        Hello Obama Mama,
You should stop and reflect on what you are saying -- is this what you really want to say? (That you are voting for Obama because of his skin color? Remember - he is mixed race, black & white). I would rethink this. Can you possibly speak to the issues?

It might be possible that Hillary will win the upcoming primaries without Obama having to "trip up"!

As a 29 year old woman, I have always admired and respected Hillary Clinton. However, I have completely lost respect for her based on her actions over the last week. Instead of focusing on her own platform, she's resorted to whining, taunting, and mud-slinging. Her behavior comes across as childish and immature. She belongs on an elementary school playground, not in the White House. I always thought I'd vote for Clinton if Obama didn't win, but last week's tantrum left a bad taste in my mouth. Although I'm a hard-core Democrat, I'd vote for Ralph Nader before I'd vote for Hillary Clinton. I'm so disgusted by her mud-slinging and bad attitude. It's time to face facts, Hillary: YOU'RE LOSING. Quit dividing the party. Save yourself one last shred of dignity and bow out now.

Yeah, Alter's a stooge for the RNC. You're an idiot. Stay in the UK where you understand your own politics; you obviously don't understand ours if you believe that Alter is doing the bidding of the RNC.

This is the most redicules thought I have ever heard. She is the best most prepared person for the job. She has been in the trenches and she knows what is hidden behind close doors. She knows what she can and can not do. She has the respect of all women as to her ability to govern the US in Foreign policy as well as at home. All children regardless of where the are need health care. Our children are our future and we must take care of them. Nothing comes out of arguing and fighting, we must come togther as a US that stands for what we believe in and not for personal reasons. War never solves anything but many people die for the love of their country and not the person who runs it. I would like to hope that all men can respect her and give her the respect she deserves. She is the most likely candidate to pull us out of the biggest mess we are in at this point

    • Posted By: ISawYourMommy @ 02/26/2008 1:20:24 AM

"She has the respect of all women as to her ability to govern the US in Foreign policy as well as at home." What is the purpose of this distinction between whether she has the respect of WOMEN as to her foreign policy ability? Does she not have the respect of men in this regard? Does she have the respect of women only in this area? Never mind the fact that, while she may have the respect of others on this issue or that, she is losing the vote of women across this country (witness Wisconsin last week).

I more or less agree. If she wins Ohio, Texas, and RHode Island then fine, she should continue this campaign through until Pennsylvania atleast. But if she loses any of those (probably Texas) it would be best for her to concede the race to Obama that night in a very gracious speech. It would be a stunning and surprising move that would greatly soften her image among independents and create a lot of goodwill for her in the party. This sets her up very nicely for several post-2008 career moves, such as a) Picking up the pieces of the democratic party and running again in 2012 if Obama loses, b) Becoming Senate Majority Leader in the next few years (Harry Reid is old and useless), or even c) Running for president in 2016 after Obama (unlikely, but keep in mind she'd STILL be younger in 2016 than McCain is now. All of these are very positive and very possible outcomes for Hillary's career if she plays her cards right. The important thing is to fight as hard as she can (without going personally negative) until it becomes clear she's not winning this thing and then bow out quickly, gracefully, and with humility so that she can have a comeback in years to come (much like John McCain, actually...). Actually, I think the Clinton's are smart enough to know that this is the gameplan to choose and I'm willing to bet they're working on an incredible concession speech right now (the debate last week was a preview) should the time come.

    Obama = Ivan Drago

Hillary if you are reading this you have to channel Rocky. You have to be Rocky. He went over 13 round getting his ass kicked, but we know that a fight is not lost until you are down and can't come back. Right now I am chanting for you Hillary. You can do this. Don't forget to play the Rocky team song on March 4.

"Rocky Balboa has done the impossible and these people love it." If Jonathan Alter had what it takes to be president he would be running.

  • Posted By: autotech @ 02/26/2008 12:42:25 AM

Hillary is a pretty hot tempered loser. Not a good canidate for President if you ask me. I think she should step down, she's already damaged her reputation. She's an evil woman, deep down. Just watcher her on the news. I'm not impressed. That's the impression she leaves with me as a voter.

      You must be uneducated

  • Posted By: demlover1 @ 02/26/2008 12:16:17 AM

What a ridiculous article. If you look back, Jonathan Altar has been writing anti-Clinton articles for the past few months. Take a look at his article right before the NH primary, where he prematurely writes off the Clintons as he's doing now. Why doesn't he just admit, that he like many of the ultra left journalists are for Obama. Why on earth should Clinton drop out when she's leading in OH and had a great chance to win TX. Those superdelegates are independent and can go anyway they want. Most went for Mondale versus Hart years ago. Sen. Clinton has many chances to win, particularly if the right wing media starts going after Obama. Once he starts getting vetted by the media, and his weak record is highlighted, his poll numbers may drop and Sen. Clinton may get the nomination. I don't remember anyone telling Sen. Obama to drop out when he lost CA, NY and most of the big Democratic states on Super Tuesday and was behind in overall delegates. Saturday Night live had it right this weekend when they made fun of the media for pretending to be neutral and actively rooting for Obama. Mr. Altar, who I once admired, is turning into a joke.

    • Posted By: ISawYourMommy @ 02/26/2008 1:15:47 AM

Mr. Alter has always been a joke, in that his subjectiveness has always been flashing on his sleeve. You only notice it now because the candidate you favor is NOT the candidate he favors.

  • Posted By: drewmelton @ 02/26/2008 12:41:49 AM

Frankly, as a former Obama supporter I have been increasingly disgusted with all of you in the media. It does not take a political genius to determine the media is biased towards Barack Obama. This article only serves to underscore the sexist quagmire that has propelled this race. To the point, if Obama received one quarter of the scrutiny pundits and media have spinned he would have been out of the running long ago. I am just exasperated that Clinton is always portrayed as the candidate who is shrill when she raises pertinent policy issues and tries to draw corrrect distinctions between what the obama camp preaches on the one hand and implements on the other. This dichotomy is unfair. I thiught the media was supposed to remain neutral and objective. Other than Dan Abrahms I cannot think of one mouthpiece that has been proportionate in their assessment of these two candidates. look- the race is not over as many of you including this author would like alll to think. Barack Obama sent out inflammatory lies about a fellow democrat that Newsday (the source he quoted) described as not only "misleading" but "same old dirty politics". There are many points and issuesthat I as an Ohioan need clarification on before I cast my ballot. I need more info on how Obama bought a home for $300,000 under market value the same day a a criminal associate who has been described as a "slumlord" purchased the house next door? I am sorry, but this begs more information. If this had involved Hillary Clinton it would be in the media every night as "Housegate". Additionally, I need less rhrtoric from Mr. Obama and more policy solutions. I can only hope that the Clinton camp and Hillary herself stop worrying about political perpitude and that in tomorrow's night's debate she finally discards the fear of being labeled as "shrill" or "cconcilliatory". I hope she takes him to task no matter what the political fallout. Hillary...sometimes you have to stick it all out there if you are right! I have slowly come to the conclusion (the media is largely the reason) that you DO represent more than fluff. If I were you I would rather lose a vote and be right than pander to all as Obama so blatantly does and win. You MUST take him to task on his inconsistencies, his political tactics, and finally you must forgo researchg and what seems to be politically correct. You cannot win in the media- they have wriiten your obituary in Iowa and now it is up to you to show the the constituents that no candidate, including Barack Obama, is impervious to bad judgment. We hear over and over that he merits our vote because his so called "judgment" kept hi for voting for the Iraq War. Where was this superfluous judgment when he purchased his home under "shady" circumstances with the "slumlord" Resko? We all have lapses of judgment. Mr. Obama is no different.

    • Posted By: danimac @ 02/26/2008 1:14:10 AM

finally, someone with good sense, I would like to hear more about this purchase of home, thought, if it were Hillary , the media would be all over it

How did Hillary earn the $5,000,000.00 she loaned herself? You're a fool, but you're likely paid to be a fool.
Whitewater? Nafta? Ignoring the genocide in Rwanda? Ignoring an unstable marriage (but keeping it together for politics sake)? WTO? Voting for the war in Iraq? And Iran? No wonder the Clintons want to bring down the Democratic party - THE CLINTONS ARE REPUBLICANS. And by the way, Hillary looks like a fire hydrant in that stupid yellow coat. Where's my dog when I need him.

I like it when people bash Bush and put Hillary so high on a pedestal. Take a man and give him the most DEVASTATING attack on American soil in over 100 years, witness the worst hurricane-damaged, flood -ridden disaster, then drown the public in a wash of recession so dreadful that the Democrats have succeeded in actually creating one. And yet that man still stands and believes in what the American people can do. Take a Clinton and put him/her in office, and they turn it into their own personal bachelor-pad. I'm proud that the man in office has stood for integrity (for those of you who don't know what that is: the quality of possessing and steadfastly adhering to high moral principles or professional standards), and actually possess those values he stands for. None of this 'do as I say and not as I do' mess.
In a way I wish that Hillary would go ahead and win the election (assuming she makes it through the primaries), so we can get this over with once and for all, and let the American people really see what a mess of hot air that woman will prove to be. Has anybody informed her that her plans for heathcare ring of Socialism? Yeah, the wonderful political design that led to the downfall and total collapse of the largest, most powerful nation on earth?

The democrates voted for change and all we got was Nancy Pelosi telling us there would be no time spent on holding the administration accountable for the devastating act of war on Iraqi people. Hillary voted for it also. Obama is our only chance for change in this country. He will get us out of Iraq and turn efforts toward the truly needy, the American family and way of life. I see Mr. Smith goes to Washington in Obama, and hope is all we have left at this point.

Ohio and Texas please don't screw this up . I urge you not to jump on the sanjia- obama bandwagon. Not choosing Hillary now in times like these would be the biggest mistake of your life.
Hillary can multi-task and by far is the smartest strongest and toughest candidate alive!
