Hillary Should Get Out Now

So what, exactly, is the "honor" of being in a campaign with Obama? What does that mean? Hillary said it, and the author of this article seems to find it compelling and not challenge the obvious implications of such a comment. I'm a Democrat, and would vote for a toothbrush after the last 8 years, but I can't stand this nonsense.

What are you saying, that it's an honor to run against Obama because he's Black? Please explain...

And Obama isn't "African-American", either. Boy, am I sick of that term. He's just an American Senator running for President; but if you really feel the need to mention skin color as a descriptor in your political analysis, just say he's Black. "African-American" makes me gag.

Changing "Black" to "African-American" for every person with brown skin in this country, is like changing "White" to "Euro-Amercan" for every person with pink skin. We dont need any other word before American for people born and raised here. Regardless your skin-tone.

Brown or pink, we're all Americans. I don't see Black as a degradation, any more than White. Or Mixed...which we mostly are, or are very soon to be. And that's fine by me.

To me, Black or White is of the same import as Blonde or Red-Head, Tall or Short, Stout or Skinny, Brown-eyed or Blue - just a description useful for a Missing-Person report, or for casual conversation: "No, not THAT Ed, the Skinny White guy Ed..."

Using "African-American" when you mean Black only makes whatever you think it would make better worse.

I think if Obama would agree to be on the ticket - either way - with Hillary, it would destroy his credibility completely. After all the change and hope, it would be politics as usual. Obama is better than that.

Actually, on second or, may be, third thoughts.....we'll need to say thanks to you, Mr. Alter! Your ill-conceived article has probably stirred up all sane folks all over the country and, especially, Hillary's supporters who I really hope will go to the polls in Texas and Ohio with a vengeance to give her the much deserved wins!

    • Posted By: ISawYourMommy @ 02/26/2008 12:45:53 AM

Could it be that this was Mr. Alter's plan? If one were to read Alter's articles since 1992, I suspect you'll find a heavy pro-Clinton bias. So, is Newsweek, through Alter's article, reporting the news, or trying to make it?

  • Posted By: flowers4girls @ 02/26/2008 12:45:33 AM

Thank you, Mr. Alter. You propel me to vote early rather than waiting for March 4. Despite your attempt to keep Hillary voters at home (*swoon* dear me, I might as well not even vote!), you make me hopeful that hyperbole and negative rhetoric such as yours will give incentive to get out to the primary and caucus. Your piece is nothing but a provocative attempt to sell pulp. Don't look now, but your residual grudge from the first President Clinton is showing. Were you not allowed total access at some point? What a joke you make of the piece of pulp that hired you.

Whitewater? Nafta? Ignoring the genocide in Rwanda? Ignoring an unstable marriage (but keeping it together for politics sake)? WTO? Voting for the war in Iraq? And Iran? No wonder the Clintons want to bring down the Democratic party - THE CLINTONS ARE REPUBLICANS. And by the way, Hillary looks like a fire hydrant in that stupid yellow coat. Where's my dog when I need him.

Just the other day Angered Voters lashed out at Hillary Clinton's Shameful Outrage in her Ohio Campaign Speech In A Very Directly Pointed And Heated Video Response on YouTube Attacking Hillary's Inappropriate Behavior and offensive choice of words used against Obama. I think Voters were very turned off and upset by such a disgusting and disgraceful display in the public eye by a politician who you would think should know better by now than to do what she did. What I think we are seeing here is a generational shift from the post-clinton era to the future of the up and coming Obama Presidency in waiting. Its clearly obvious now more than ever that no matter what strategy Clinton tries, it fails her every time. She is deadlocked in a losing cause between fighting the Obama movement and Angry Voters. When she goes negative it hurts her severely, but when she is too soft spoken people don't take her seriously and seem to question her credibility, wondering if she even means what she says. So either way, Hillary has lost this battle. Obama has got her beat. That's a fact that you cannot dispute at this point. Obama has effectively won the "Change" message by sweeping it out from underneath Clinton's campaign and she simply can no longer covince Voters she can win it back. Here's the real letdown for Hillary....her husband Bill is even hinting that she is done and she should just give it up and walk away. Maybe its time she got the hint and bow out of this race before she risks humiliating herself even more. Its time Hillary gave it up and went back home to her Senate seat in New York.

If I ran Newsweek,I would fire you for writing this story!

    • Posted By: osamabahmarules @ 02/26/2008 12:44:04 AM

If you ran Newsweek you would first have to get your GED and then lose your spot in that free cheese line. Who are you kidding...you couldn't run to the corner without getting lost...which is why you NEED Clinton to help you find your way home...tuck you into bed...and make sure there is enough free cheese for you tomorrow so you can have a meal.

Are you people freaking kidding me? I know McCain is DEFINITELY not the best candidate either, but seriously, Clinton or Obama? Why in HELL would you want EITHER of these idiots as your leader. On one hand, you have a woman (and dont get confused, its not because shes a woman) who with her "poor me" attitude hates the military, not the war, but the military, AND wants to take money out of your pocket to give to those who are to lazy to work for it themselves. On the other hand, you have a black Muslim (Seriously, do I really need to say more) who answers his questions like he is on Jeapordy. Just take a step back for a minute people, forget the presidency for just a moment, would you want either one of these people as YOUR leader? Would YOU follow these individuals?

Give us a BREAK! This is the most irresponsible thing I have ever read in Newsweek. I will cancel my subscription after this, for real. As a Pennsylvanian I am sick of the manipulation of certain media folks who keep suggesting Hilary get out of the race before I have a chance to vote for her. LET US VOTE and then if she doesn't win, she will out and Obama will be in. What's the disgrace in that????? If she wins, then the process will go on and designed.

    • Posted By: char12 @ 02/26/2008 12:42:00 AM

Wonderful idea to cancel subscription!!!! I head the Dentist foundation! I am putting a memo tomorrow to every office to do the same. If they can be so biased against one canidate - we can do the same to magazines!!!

Newsweek needs to shut their pie hole. Hillary is ahead in Texas, Ohio, Pennsylvannia and Rhode Island and there is a real chance she can get back in it with wins there. Obviously an Obama supporter misusing his position to throw his opinion around

  • Posted By: autotech @ 02/26/2008 12:41:15 AM

Hillary is a pretty hot tempered loser. Not a good canidate for President if you ask me. I think she should step down, she's already damaged her reputation. She's an evil woman, deep down. Just watcher her on the news. I'm not impressed. That's the impression she leaves with me as a voter.

All I can say after watching and reading these comments for the past four hours is that I am FINALLY reading what the REAL opinions of the ACTUAL PEOPLE of the UNITED STATES have to say. No matter who they support in these responses, by and large what I am seeing are truly well-stated opinions and sincerely passionate people who really CARE about this election and DO NOT want it to be decided FOR THEM by the PRESS.

The PRESS needs to get back to doing their JOB as defined in JOURNALISM 101 !!!!! The PRESS DOES NOT CONTROL THE PEOPLE -- NOR DOES IT GET THE FINAL SAY IN WHAT THE PEOPLE WANT!!!!!

  • Posted By: Dabear @ 02/26/2008 12:38:24 AM

Hillary would rather bring down the party, and would likely prefer McCain because, yes, THE CLINTONS ARE REPUBLICANS. Whitewater? Voting for the war in Iraq? Ignoring the genocide in Rwanda? NAFTA? WTO? There history promises an extension of Bush and Clinton crime family legacies. Also, Hillary looks like a fire hydrant in that stupid yellow coat. Where's my dog when I need him?

My three daughters read your article and could not believe it. They said you should retire.
They said that Saturday Night Live made more since then anything you wrote. Unbelievable
that you news people are under his trance. Do you applaud also when he blows his nose or
do you faint. Shame on you.

As a 29 year old woman, I have always admired and respected Hillary Clinton. However, I have completely lost respect for her based on her actions over the last week. Instead of focusing on her own platform, she's resorted to whining, taunting, and mud-slinging. Her behavior comes across as childish and immature. She belongs on an elementary school playground, not in the White House. I always thought I'd vote for Clinton if Obama didn't win, but last week's tantrum left a bad taste in my mouth. Although I'm a hard-core Democrat, I'd vote for Ralph Nader before I'd vote for Hillary Clinton. I'm so disgusted by her mud-slinging and bad attitude. It's time to face facts, Hillary: YOU'RE LOSING. Quit dividing the party. Save yourself one last shred of dignity and bow out now.

Mr Alter, you make me grateful to be a Texan. I can't possibly wait until March 4 to cast my Hillary vote. My important vote will be counted tomorrow; thank goodness you are not an election official. Please don't totally choke on those sour grapes from the first Clinton presidency. Don't look now, but your grudges are showing.

    hillarious who? Obama yeh!

  • Posted By: marcorjud @ 02/26/2008 12:35:29 AM

As Yogi says, "it's never over till it's over". She'll rebound in Texas, Ohio, and PA. although she and Obama are poor choices, even for Democrats!!.
