So what, exactly, is the "honor" of being in a campaign with Obama? What does that mean? Hillary said it, and the author of this article seems to find it compelling and not challenge the obvious implications of such a comment. I'm a Democrat, and would vote for a toothbrush after the last 8 years, but I can't stand this nonsense.
What are you saying, that it's an honor to run against Obama because he's Black? Please explain...
And Obama isn't "African-American", either. Boy, am I sick of that term. He's just an American Senator running for President; but if you really feel the need to mention skin color as a descriptor in your political analysis, just say he's Black. "African-American" makes me gag.
Changing "Black" to "African-American" for every person with brown skin in this country, is like changing "White" to "Euro-Amercan" for every person with pink skin. We dont need any other word before American for people born and raised here. Regardless your skin-tone.
Brown or pink, we're all Americans. I don't see Black as a degradation, any more than White. Or Mixed...which we mostly are, or are very soon to be. And that's fine by me.
To me, Black or White is of the same import as Blonde or Red-Head, Tall or Short, Stout or Skinny, Brown-eyed or Blue - just a description useful for a Missing-Person report, or for casual conversation: "No, not THAT Ed, the Skinny White guy Ed..."
Using "African-American" when you mean Black only makes whatever you think it would make better worse.
