What Jonathan Alter has to say is no news, it has been said in forums like MSNBC and CNN. Why do we get the same repeated stories to waste our time. jojojojojojo must be a 15 yo that cannot vote.

Mr. Alter you are just one more of the arrogant media members who want to decide this competition before the voters get to exercide thier right to be a part of the process. I'm repulsed by showering of unflinching support of all things Barack. Media blackout on any questionable material is offensive to the intellect of your readers. The 'do no wrong' haloed image you have painted is so close to being a religious movement it's scary. Senator Clinton should by no means bow out. The process requires Mr Obama to acrew the required delegate numbers and for Hillary to hand them over is as complicit as your journalism is in crowning a winner before the race is really over..

The Press is scared of Mr. Obama. They need to be PC, but for a white female it all guns blaring. This the reversal of what Dr. King wanted.

She should get and go to work for what she was elected for. She has done nothing for New York state. She says she was instrumental to Upstate New York's revitalization. Believe me, Upstate New York is far from revitalized. Everyone keeps talking of her experience. What has she done? What laws did she create that got passed? She's done nothing except flip-flop on everthing.

RIGHT>>> THAT IS WHY SHE WAS RE-ELECTED IN A LAND SLIDE...67% IS A MANDATE AND YOU DON"T GET THAT UNLESS YOU ARE DOING NOT ONLY A GOOD JOB BUT A DANG GOOD JOB!

How much did 'they' pay for that tidbit? There is nothing genuine, or even close, here.

jojo...you are the idiot...he is rated as the most liberal US Senator...he borders on being a socialist...you need to wake up.

I love you Hillary! Don't listen to this author. He is going for ratings and comments. He's getting them but he is not influencing anything. Hillary will not let us down. We the people owe her too much to back from her now. We all know Obama camp has no leverage on her. She is the one deserving and most appropriate to become president. GO HILLARY! Much love from Texas!

    BETWEEN THE LINES Jonathan Alter
    Hillary Should Get Out Now

GOOD Article. Thank you Jonathan Alter for having the guts to speak the truth. I read your article a couple of times and I caught your interview this evening with Dan Abrams. I understand your point that Senator Clinton
might want to step aside now or perhaps int he very near future in an effort to gracefully save face and to unite the democratic party.
Oh and by the way, don't worry about the critics, they won't stop reading NEWSWEEK and so what if they do.
One thing is for certain I will continue reading your fine articles and have ordered a subscription of NEWSWEEK for my parents.

Why is Obama treated with kid gloves whilst Hillary is being grilled? Media has lost the trust of the people
who read it. It's pretty biased just by being a African Amercian all hands off him? we may offend the minority
group. Remember by the year 2020 the white race will be in the I'd love to see the day how they treat us.

The liberal left wing writers, reporters, opinionates, what ever you are would like nothing better than for Hillary to withdraw so you can start pushing Obama's socialist, left wing agenda. Either one of the democrat candidates will be the ruination of this country.

WAKE UP DEMS...BEFORE IT IS TOO LATE....PL. WAKE UP!!!

OBAMA vs. HILLARY is not some sort of popularity contest where CHARMS trumps EXPERIENCE or HERD MENTALITY & MEDIA PUSH trumps SOUND REASONING or RHETORIC trumps ISSUES. As we very well know, this election may be the most important of our lifetime and lets not botch it by letting the FORMER trump the LATTER. If we made the wrong choice of the FORMER, we can rest assured that it would play right into the GOP hands and this nation will be on a path of irreversible self-destruction.

Have you all forgotten that WISE PEOPLE TALK LESS and WISDOM COMES WITH EXPERIENCE and....guess what.....Obama talks a lot and has little experience to show for. After watching nearly every one of Obama's victory speeches, I am so convinced that his MESSAGE OF HOPE is almost like DOPE - you get an instant high (that lasts for a little while) even though you know its not the right thing.

In these challenging times, we should not let our hearts alone dictate our votes. Remember again...and I am putting it bluntly....its not about PICKING THE ONE WHO YOU WOULD LIKE TO BE IN BED WITH. Lets get our heads cleared up and make the right choice - HILLARY alone has the EXPERIENCE (WISDOM), IRON-WILL, VISION and the SMARTS to take on and defeat the hydra-headed monster that is the GOP (Republican Party) this November.

AGAIN, PL. WAKE UP AND GET YOUR HEADS STRAIGHT!!!

I agree that it is time for Senator Hilary Clinton to give way, honourably to the continously rising surge of Senator Barrack Obama before it is too late. This will in turn give her a better chance of electability in future. I will advice that she go ahead and congratulate Senator Obama, keep her pride and help unite the democratic party. When Bill was president, I had money in my pocket, money in the bank and making money in investments and was able to buy a house.

Four years into the Bush presidency and with a Republican-controlled Congress, everything that had been accomplished in the previous 8 years was wiped out; we were attending funerals of dead soldiers, mere children, and couldn't find Bush unless you knew where he was playing golf that day.

We were in similar dire straights during the Nixon years and Vietnam. Nixon lied to get elected to the White House. That's a level of deception that I'm talking about I will never elect again. The economy and the WAR are the two problems that need to be solved.

If Obama had a track record of achievement, I would be more interested in him. But he DOESN'T! My husband is IN Iraq. We know what is going on there as do other military families. We need an experienced leader to handle this situation. Not some fast-talking newbie with sketch pad who thinks that all you have to do is go over and smoke a peace-pipe with Al-Sadr.

Either you like it or not, what Obama says is the truth. Ask Hillary a question and she dances and dodges from answering the question. All she's concerened about is being President. She wont tell you yes or no because she doesn't know if her answer will come back to hurt her. I don't want a President like that. It's time for a change and you folks should just accept that you're going to have a Black President. It's nothing to cry about all racist people.

obama is a coward and his supporters are idiots. He has NO experience!!!
He is a weak man and ARROGANT...

HELLO HILLARY CLINTON, YOUR DOING A WONDERFUL JOB DON'T GIVE UP THE RACE WHICH JUST STARTED. BELIEVE IN GOD TO THE END AND HAVE FAITH. BECAUSE FAITH WITHOUT WORKS IS DEAD. YOU HAVE MY VOTE AND OBAMA IS JUST ALL WORDS. REMEMBER DAVID IN THE BIBLE FOUGHT GOLITH AND DEFEATED THE GOLITH AND WON THE FIGHT HE WAS JUST A KID. SO REMEMBER THIS WHO IS BIGGER GOD OR HUMANS? GOD IS IN CONTROL OF ALL THINGS AND WITH GOD ALL THINGS WILL COME TOGETHER FOR GOOD WHOM LOVE THE LORD AND CALLED FOR HIS PURPOSE. THREE MOST IMPORTANT THINGS TO REMEMBER WHEN YOUR UP THERE GIVING YOUR SPEECH IS TRUST, BELIEVE AND FAITH ALL COME IN HAND TOGETHER. HANG IN THERE TILL YOU SEE IN COME TO PAST. TAKE CARE AND GOD BLESS.

Quote from DebGo330: "I'm getting so sick of hearing that all of our problems are because of George W. Bush. People should think for themselves, both in this election and in analyzing the condition of America. George W. Bush is not the only person who is making decisions about this country. Did you forget that the Democrats have the majority in the Senate? Don't they need to share a BIG PART of the blame for our problems?"

Deb, really, I don't think you're going to get an audience for that argument. GW had things really screwed up by the time the Dems got a 1 person majority in the Senate -- and one of those has been in the hospital most the time since the majority occurred.

Take a look at the exodus of Republicans from the senate BTW -- leaving for the private sector (well, GRIN -- some of them for private toilet stalls) Reporter Daniel Shore held up a big ARROW pointing to THAT story a few months ago.

Lots of dirty stuff going on. GW is and was the biggest liar/loser we've had in the White House since Nixon.

Just goes to show that men in general, whatever their political affiliation, need to learn to keep it in their pants - unless they want it to make the front pages of the news.
