A white house high official or diplomat also have lot of experience. So Hillary should think about quality of leadership, organizing capacity, some basic originality, ideological honesty ??? connections is not every thing for being a global leader. Hilary Clinton is simply a political mediocre. She can only act as commander in chief, but never can truly perform that. Compared to her ability she has already gained more than enough. For her, politics is a way of building someone???s carrier. That is why she could compromise with her husband few years ago.

    Hey Alter,
How about letting the voters of Ohio, Texas, and other states decide this before you write-off Hillary? The Democratic Party would seriously regret a situation where Senator Clinton withdrew and the media then awoke from its Obama-dream and started REALLY looking into his rather weak candidacy. I wonder if the pundits' worship of Obama that we're forced to endure indicates Oprah's influence in the media, a deep hatred and envy of the Clintons, or the corporate media heads deciding that Obama vs. McCain would make for better television. Everything that Obama utters is reported as enlightened and hopeful, every caucus or primary that he wins is a major victory, no matter how miniscule. Meanwhile, any point made by Senator Clinton is reported (if at all) as a sign of desperation. As stated by schatzismom, tedsaunt, and others on this blog, Hillary is supported by half of the Democratic voters and they are demanding that she fight until the end. She is far from finished and would be selling her supporters out if she followed your misguided advice.

Senator Clinton is far more experienced and qualified to lead as the President. If Bill Clinton returns to a position of influence with her, more's the better. What a wonderful team they will make! Mr. Alter, if you're so interested in influencing news instead of reporting it, why not take a leave-of-absence from Newsweek and work officially for Obama. If things go your way in November, you could be his Press Secretary...or High Priest. We were disenfranchised here in Florida thanks to the DNC, let other voters have a chance to support a real candidate of the people.

You are right they are such a great team ........I want more Americans to see deceitfulness and open sex in the White House and not to mention the renting out the Lincoln room I would vote for Nader first

The posting above was actually from SchatzisDAD. I wasn't able to differentiate from my wife's earlier username. I'm a former Republican from Florida and I'm for Hillary, even if my party won't count my vote. If she's not the Democratic nominee, then I will be heading over to McCain.

Wise choice..MILLIONS of others have come to the same conclusion.

        NOBAMA!!!

    OBAMA WILL BE FINISHED BECAUSE:
#1-HIS HEALTH CARE PLAN IS MUCH WORSE UNTILL NOW (50-60 MILLION PEOPLE UNINSURED)
    #2-HE VOTE AGAINST ANTI-TERRORIST WAR=ENDORSEMENT FOR TERRORISM. THAT"S NOT TOUGH POLICY !
#3-OBAMA'S EXPERIENCE IS 0(Zero) / All POINTS OF VIEW
#4-ECONOMICS= BASED on a fire fighter emergency action . Nothing based on a scientific way !
#5-PROPAGANDA ON MANIPULATED THE PEOPLE IS THE... BEST ! HE HAS A LOT OF "INTERNATIONAL EXPERTISE" ! You know what I'm talking about !

If you count the retired steel workers that lost their health insurance when their companies sold to another company due to NAFTA and other laws, as well as others who have no insurance because of companies hiring part time workers and paying them no benefits THE CLINTONS ARE FINISHED

America is a great country, a global leader.
The world is hungry ,for long time, to see an American leader who can be honored as great global hero. Obama is a gift of God for America. So protect him, elect him.

It is rather sad that reporters want to dictate things rather than allow the political process to play out. Mrs Clinton, despite her weaknesses, is a courageous candidate who is geared to the teeth to fight this race. For a women that is 60 years old and has the media against her she is doing a remarkable job. One has to hand it to her for all the energy and spirit she has put into this campaign. If she bows out the campaign trail will make American politics resort to a boring one man show. Competition is good and lets at least give Hillary a chance, she is a hard working passionate candidate who has the fighting spirit this race so desperately needs.

VOTERS DESERVE TO HAVE A CHOICE FOR THEIR NOMINEE IN THE GENERAL ELECTION. THIS IS NOT RUSSIA, LAST I LOOKED. IN RUSSIA THERE IS ONLY ONE CANDIDATE WHO IS ENDORSED BY PUTIN. RUSSIAN VOTERS HAVE ONLY ONE CHOICE. I THOUGHT WE WERE A DEMOCRATIC NATION ALLOWING THE ELECTORATE TO MAKE THEIR OWN DECISIONS, AND NOT THE MEDIA. OUR PARTY WAS DESIGNED TO HAVE A CONVENTION FOR THIS VERY REASON.

  • Posted By: Heather1974 @ 02/29/2008 1:01:26 PM

I would love to know the motivation for Jonathan Alter's desire for Hillary to bow out of the race? I sincerely think Alter has a hatred for the Clinton's. [my opinion]
I cannot see what logical sense it makes for Hillary to bow out now. I can go on and on how many ballgames that have been won with two outs in the bottom of the ninth...Miracles can and do happen Boston down 3 games to 0 and came back to win 4 straight and enter the world series. Hillary has a chance at a miracle too. Maybe another Clinton administration may be too much for Jonathan Alter to bear but he should develop a little more humility to his character rebuke his aggorant desire to demand that Sen. Hillary Clinton bow out of the race, lest we demand he resign from journalism.

you left out washing monica's soiled blue dress on hillaries experience list to be president. where have you been fruit. whoooooooooooohhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

An woman experienced enough to smile on her long defeat as if she is the winner, who have different faces, lots of dresses, connections, high level hypocrisy and pretences, - we can call her an aristocrat in politics, in other word political mediocre.
Compared to her Obama is poor. When a poor man can do a lot, so far, we must try to find his power. He has something rare for which we always need to wait for generations.

  • Posted By: Politra @ 02/29/2008 2:47:21 PM

Who is Hillary politician or actress ? Democrat or Republican ? Is spending he election fund for nice dresses?

  • Posted By: tajens @ 02/29/2008 2:34:43 AM

Do you ever get the feeling that Obama is the Eddie Haskell of the political arena? He's all "That's a lovely dress Mrs. Cleaver" too the camera, but nobody seems to notice he's talking Tony Dow into egging the neighbor's house.

    Why is this?

  • Posted By: beachthugs @ 02/28/2008 7:08:37 PM

    Hey Goatherd,

That's not true, Hillary Clinton entered the primary race. I know you count her 8 years in the White House as experience but you know there's a chef who had 27 years experience in the White House that you maybe could consider as well.

    • Posted By: tedsaunt @ 02/28/2008 9:18:14 PM

Sigh, another uninformed Obamabot. If you would at least READ something, maybe we could take your arguments seriously. HIllary started a well-documented career in public service that has spanned 35+ years. She started with the Children's Defense Fund, and was instrumental in creating legislation to benefit disabled and abused children. Then there was: economic and educational incentives for rural Arkansas; women's, children's and human rights initiatives around the world; health benefits for the disabled, veterans and National Guard reservists; an instrumental role in bringing together opposing factions in Northern Ireland; critical health advocacy for First Responders at Ground Zero (NY Firefighters endorsed her as "their hero"). The list goes on and on. And yes, when she was first lady, she was an unofficial Ambassador, traveling to over 82 countries to represent the U.S. Then, of course, there is her impressive record as a U.S. Senator, crossing the aisle to enact legislation with Republicans for health, educational, prison reform and security issues. Dozens of military officers, including a former Joint Chief of Staff and many Admirals, have endorsed her. Where you been dude?

      • Posted By: Illinois Voter @ 02/29/2008 1:34:43 AM

DITTO. AND LET'S NOT FORGET THAT ALL THE WHILE THAT HILLARY WAS PERFORMING PUBLIC SERVICE SHE ALSO WAS A FULL TIME MOTHER FOR CHELSEA. HILLARY NEVER MISSED A BALLET RECITAL, SOFTBALL GAME OR TEACHER CONFERENCE AND DID HOMEWORK EVERY NIGHT WITH HER DAUGHTER, IN ADDITION HILLARY MADE SURE THAT SHE WAS AVAILABLE FOR CHELSEA TO ENTERTAIN HER FRIENDS. I DON'T SEE OBAMA DOING ALL THAT.

  • Posted By: GTX13 @ 02/29/2008 12:22:28 AM

If the media is not capable to do a professional job for the readers, let I make an interesting remark; Hussein Obama didn't vote for an anti-terrorist war !! He just adopted a coward position in a non-offensive way ! ! A kind of endorsement for Bin Laden, which is ready anytime to strike in a manner of New York 911 attack !!! That's why some "media makers" are granting Obama as a great patriot and an American Hero; while Hillary Clinton and John McCain are considered bad people and they are fully blamed !! An incredible value scale reverse !!!...

REad this from the Media - Maureen Dowd!!!! Hillary has had to take on the whole Dang Media !!

Re ???Begrudging His Bedazzling,??? by Maureen Dowd (column, Feb. 27):

Ms. Dowd says Hillary Rodham Clinton is lame for accusing journalists of treating her campaign differently than they treat Barack Obama???s, and applauds the ???open-mindedness of the press??? in its treatment of Senator Clinton.

Here are the words she uses in association with Senator Clinton: ???desperate,??? ???primal scream,??? ???clanging,??? ???churlish,??? ???discombobulated,??? ???gloomy,??? ???flipping,??? ???begrudging,??? ???whining,??? ???experience,??? ???pea green with envy,??? ???Sybil,??? ???cascading,??? ???dizzying,??? ???unsettling,??? ???struggling,??? ???tartly,??? ???peevishly,??? ???pointlessly,??? ???sarcasm.???

And here are the words she uses for Senator Obama: ???golden child,??? ???sunny,??? ???consistency,??? ???bedazzling,??? ???confidence,??? ???excitement,??? ???exceptionally easy in his skin.???

If Ms. Dowd wants to make the point that she doesn???t like Senator Clinton, then she???s made it. If she wants to make the point that the press treats Mrs. Clinton fairly, contrary to what the senator may believe, then this column, alas, has made Senator Clinton???s point.

HOW OBAMA PLAYED THE RACE CARD

    • Posted By: franwells @ 02/28/2008 11:27:24 PM

Enter Your CommentA Must Read article on the racism actually coming from the Obama Camp. This is by a well-respected historian. While disturbing, at least it is an explanation as to why he is where he is and Hillary is where she is. I knew the racism was rampant on the part of the Obama people in SC. I've ranted and raved about it to MSNBC, CNN, and anybody I could get my hands on - to no avail. Sean Wilentz of The New Republic explains it step by step beginning in Iowa - the "racebait" was skillfully handled so the Clintons' would get the blame, which, as we all know, worked like a charm. If a woman had the same amount of experience as Obama, she wouldn't even have been able to enter the primary race. Thats the point, whichever way you look at it. Period!

And in the two years Obama was a senator and while in Illinois House, what happened to all the CHANGE that he promises.

Member of the Foreign relations committee and not convened a meeting.

OBAMA - NOT READY ON DAY ONE, TWO, OR THREE...........

OBAMa--NEVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! - He could NOT win in the General Election in November.

    • Posted By: Graceuntold @ 02/25/2008 6:00:18 PM

I think he can win the election in November. American politics need change and the people need the power back not government. And that is what Obama is fighting for, our rights to government again.

      • Posted By: tedsaunt @ 02/28/2008 10:19:14 PM

That is the fantasy that he is selling, and so many of you are buying it. Look at the numbers--he is only winning a small number of Republicans in red states, and he will split the Indy vote with McCain. The largest electoral states decide elections. Alabama, Idaho, and Illinois will not be enough to win. In the last election, the decisive voting blocks that went for Bush were Hispanics, women, and blue collar voters. Who's constituency does that sound like? Hillary's...and for the record, her Indy vote is only a few percentage points below his. The Republicans have not even started to go after Obama yet, and the Dems are going to put someone with almost NO foreign policys experience up against a war hero? It's amazing how the Dems always find a way to lose, no matter how favorable the circumstances. I am an Independent, and have never voted Republican, but I will consider McCain because at least I know that he is grounded in reality. Obama is way too green in a time of war and recession.

  • Posted By: TokyoTaka @ 02/25/2008 10:46:02 PM

The best and brightest don't run for the highest office in the land. Where's a good Colin Powell when we need one? Hillary has exposure but no accomplishments. Obama has no experience, a lot of exciting rhetoric, but with most of our budget sunk into entitlement programs, no chance of real change. McCain may be too old, and perhaps a one-trick pony - a strong military. Mike Huckabee has no chance, but perhaps more of a chance than Ralph Nader. How about Ralph against Mike?

    • Posted By: tedsaunt @ 02/28/2008 10:14:20 PM

Once again, someone who has not done their homework. Hillary has 4 decades of very well-documented public service accomplishments. Please do some reading before you comment or you look uninformed and biased.
