I blame the press for this whole obama fest we have going on. hillary is less than 100 delegates behind. It is half time and she has been chosen by about 49% of the votes so far and obama has about 51% obama has the undying love of the press and hillary cannot even get a fair hearing. the press is killing her campaign for her. she doesnt have to make any mistakes or be less of a candidate. she just has be wake up every morning and the press will do the work for her. you should all hold your heads down in shame at the bias present in this pre campaign. Hillary is working her heart out to get where she can actually do some good for us, and the press is busy building the "movement" of the next messiah. Make no mistake that the press knows full well they have sway over many many people who will believe all that they read in headlines and editorials. when the press says hillary is losing superdelegates, and cant catch obama's momentum, and that she is desperate and angry and should bow out gracefully, the press knows it is building a self fulfilling prophecy. you are all despicable. there should be laws to prevent any political analysis of the results of any election until it is over and there should be a one day national primary to help destroy the problem before it gets started. Oprah and the press are shoving obama down the throats of the american people and most are acting like baby birds about it, mouths wide open. You would never suggest that a team bow out of the superbowl at half-time because they are down by a few points. This is so much more important for the country, and yet you all continue to bury one of the best candidates to run in ages. this is not a fair move on your part. it is not just here, but in all the outlets. you all know the effect your statements will have and yet you feel it is helpful and fair to make them immediately before two of the largest states vote. what about all the voters yet to come and the two states unrepresented at the moment. this is undue influence on an election matter. I know there is no law in place now but it will be my first priority when this is over. Be aware that no matter what happens, I will not be voting for obama, but you can bet i will be voting. go hillary 2008

McGowan.swan: an excellent and powerful statement. Thank you. Obama supporters bash her and justify his thin resume, and the other 49% is watching, appalled and disillusioned by this process. And don't even get me started about the undemocratic caucus system that has created this illusory "momentum" and then fueled it until it is fact. Just like the build up to the war. We live in a true Orwellian age. And Hillary continues to walk through the fire with a smile on her face!! THAT is heroic.

I'm getting a little tired of Republican and Clinton supporters implying that Obama supporters are naive and delusional. Naive and delusional is thinking any politician who represents Old School Politics will put the average American's best interests ahead of their own. GW Bush is the proof; Clinton and McCain are just slightly less toxic versions. I'm ready to roll the dice on someone who is not a chip off the old block.

    • Posted By: tedsaunt @ 02/28/2008 10:04:20 PM

This "old politics" line is so tired. Obama has been doing EXACTLY the things he claims to oppose. The fearmongering and inaccurate mailings (and they have been independently discredited, despite his claims otherwise). His own campaign strategists have admitted that they use these tactics in mailings and radio ads because it is "below the radar," and it does not get picked up by the media. He constantly distorts her policies and words in his campaign speeches. It's all the same, and it's worse, because that is the basic premise of his campaign. He doesn't need "experience" because he is "different and pure." It's a lie.

Alter should drop out. Not he or any journalist has asked a simple question: If Obama were white and Hilabry were black, what would blacks be saying about experience then -- that the over qualified black woman should prevail over the under qualified smooth talking white guy? Lou Dobbs, of all people raised the question indirectly the other day: Why is it not racism to vote for Obama simply because he is black?

It is a condescending presumption that people (of any persuasion) who vote for Obama do so only because he is Black. I am an educated professional who was actually leaning towards HRC initially. I considered the platforms of both candidates, which even HRC admits are virtually identical, and came to the conclusion that both are competent and capable to be President and that both will make a priority those issues most important to me. But, the sad state of the country right now requires more than mere competence. We are fractured domestically and abroad, and our problems are bigger than any one person could be expected to resolve. It will take the collective efforts of our leaders and the people. Obama has demonstrated an ability to inspire the masses to not just wait for our government to fix things, but to get involved in improving our situation. HRC, due perhaps to no fault of her own, simply does not provided the same motivation. I, along with many others, believe that Obama is what the country needs at this moment in time.

I WANT TO FIX HILLARY CLINTON FOR STAYING WITH BILL WHEN SHE SHOULD HAVE DIVORCED HIM OVER:
    1. HIS ANTIMASTURBATION
    2. HIS CHEATING ADULTERY
ALSO IM AGAINST HER NOT LISTENING TO ME ABOUT VOTING AGAINST THE ANTI POKER BILL (PHONE CALLS, LETTERS) AND RECEIVING FUNDING FROM HEALTH INSURANCE COMPANIES WHEN THEY ARE ALREADY OVERCHARGING AND AGE DISCRIMINATING. I ALSO BELIEVE LIKE JOE LIEBERMAN THAT BILL CLINTON SHOULD HAVE BEEN IMPEACHED AFTER ILLEGALLY CHEATING ON HIS WIFE.

God, you people are so tedious!! You dismiss her accomplishment without taking the time to READ anything. Her years of public service are well-documented if you bothered to look instead of instantly condemn with your knee-jerk bigotry. She has traveled to over 82 countries as an unofficial Ambassador, worked on the Armed Services commitee and received the endorsements of dozens of the highest level military officials, and none of that includes her decades of work for women, children, the elderly, the disabled, and her Senatorial career. Obama? He has been on the Foreign Affairs committee during a war in Afghanistan and has not had a SINGLE HEARING because he has been too busy running for the Presidency. Maybe he should actually LEARN something about foreign policy before he runs! The arrogance of this man is really off-putting. I do not buy the whole "chosen one" routine. Hopefully we wont find out the truth the hard way. If he would just take the time to gain the necessary experience, I'd take him seriously in the future, but he believes he is the ONLY one who can transform the world. Wow....

If hillary clinton stays in the race longer , there is a great chance her evil side will take over. The throw everything at Obama stragegy is an excellent example of the evil Hillary emerging ; thus showing how she thinks. Win anyway you can-- lie, cheat, steal.

    • Posted By: tedsaunt @ 02/28/2008 9:52:24 PM

Again, Hillary is the Big Bad Wolf. You have all been successfully manipulated by the past Republican characterization of her, and now, the Obama campaign has capitalized on that every chance they get. He's a fraud and an opportunist. We all judge people in our lives based on their actions. You can lie and deny Hillary's 40 years of public service, but it's all in the record. Hundreds of thousands of people get this, whether you continue to spout your toxic arguments or not.

There is no doubt that the longer Hillary hurls empty barbs at Barack, the more fodder she gives McCain later. Reason dictates that Hillary will lose, under all scenarios. It is time to unite the party for the long road ahead versus McCain. If Hillary and Bill cared about the party winning in November, Hillary would do the right thing and step down gracefully. I hope that after she loses or scrapes by with a win in either TX or OH she will do the right thing. I also hope tonight's debate is the last. I am tired of the Clinton carnival.

    • Posted By: tedsaunt @ 02/28/2008 9:49:33 PM

"Empty barbs against Barack" = ANY criticism of his record, his negative campaign tactics, or his character. I love that Obama supporters, who have been vicious in their irrational and relentless attacks (these are the "Uniters/Healers" supporters, mind you) on Clinton think we should now "all come together" and support him. Fat chance. And as far as the debates go--I can see why you don't enjoy them, because she has so obviously taken command of every single debate. It's harder for Obamabots and the media to spin after a debate, because of Hillary's detailed knowledge and strength. Easier to fuel the fantasy when he is giving his pep rallies full of empty platitudes mimicking MLK. When he has to debate, he rambles, hesitates, and copies her. Hillary or mass party defections. That's what we're left with.

Comment: Comment: Hillary Clinton Goofs Again
    A Commentary by Dick Morris

Who was it that defined neurosis as repeating the same mistake again and again, and expecting a better outcome each time? That is really what the Clinton campaign is doing in its post-Chesapeake primary strategy. Now Hillary defines Obama as the candidate who makes speeches, while she is the one who provides answers and solutions.

Why is Hillary embracing this new line? Its not that she has any great record of solutions or answers of which to boast, but rather that she wants to highlight Obama's lack of a legislative record. Once again, she and her campaign geniuses are making the same mistake they made when they decided to use the experience as their defining difference with Obama. Its not that she had much, but they sensed an opportunity to highlight that he had even less.
Of course experience not only didn't work. It backfired massively. By co-opting the experience tag, Hillary bought into the status quo and left Obama to be the agent of change. A candidacy that could have excited tens of millions of women, the first serious prospect of a female president, became merely a boring part of the status quo, shorn of its novelty.

Hillary's claim to be the solution-person won't work either for the same simple reason: She hasn't passed any...she hasn't walked the walk so now she cannot talk the talk.

As a first lady, Hillary's sole important legislative involvement came during the first two years of her husband's presidency when she sought to pass her ill-conceived health care reform, an effort that failed so miserably that it cost her party control of the House of Representatives for the first time in 40 years. Between 1995 to 1997, she was largely absent from the White House, traveling the world, promoting her best selling book and helping to raise funds. She never attended strategy meetings and her only intervention in the singular legislative achievements of Bill's administration welfare reform and the balanced budget deal was privately to urge a veto of the former and to oppose the latter because it provided for a cut in the capital gains tax. Hillary returned to the White House in 1998 to oversee the defense to the Lewinsky scandal and the impeachment attempt, but the Clinton administration essentially folded its legislative efforts during those years and hung on for dear life. No portfolio of accomplishments there...

Her only actual legislation included one bill to increase nurse recruitment, another to aid respite time for Alzheimer's care givers and another to expand veteran's health benefits, a paltry output for six years service.

In her second term, she has spent full-time campaigning for president and has the worst attendance record of the three senators now still in the presidential race.

First, your source of information is...Dick Morris?! The hack consultant who was completely discredited for his relationship with a stripper? And your facts about Hillary's career in NY are flat-out wrong. I am a NY resident, and she won re-election with 67% of the vote (many from Upstate Republicans) because of her effectiveness and work ethic. Try to wipe away some of the Hillary-hatred from your glasses so you can see clearly.

  • Posted By: sawwhetowls @ 02/27/2008 1:48:10 PM

I agree. Hillary is whining too much and taking the spotlight with her accusations. After she has run one of the dirtiest campaigns I've seen in a long time against Obama. She needs to realize that no one wants her, and she should give her full support to Obama. She is much too confrontational to be taken seriously as a leader of the free world. Obama is always presidential. He has more experience in legislature, and much more grace under fire!

    • Posted By: tedsaunt @ 02/28/2008 9:37:35 PM

Sawwhetowls, you have been duped like so many others. Hillary plays hardball, but doesn't pretend otherwise. Obama is a hypocrite, promoting a "new kind of politics," while his surrogates have fanned the claims of racism to his advantage (can we say "divisive"?), deliberately distributing smear mailings and radio ads as his strategist said, "below the radar," and distorting her words and policy positions on a daily basis. His mailings attacking her health care plan were solely intended to "scare" people ["she's going to take your money!"], when she has spent 15 years advocating for Universal Health Care. He can't run on his "record," so he has spent all his time discrediting her, so he could be the only alternative choice. I'd have preferred ANY of the other Dem candidates. He is not only frighteningly unqualified, but his dishonesty and arrogance have made him a candidate that this Independent voter will never support.

    • Posted By: Illinois Voter @ 02/27/2008 6:24:53 PM

Obama has not misrepresented Clinton's Universal Health Care Plan? Why don't you look up his record in Illinois? Axelrod is the dirtist campaign manager in history. Obama does not have more experience in legislature if it's based on being elected to Illinois Senate where he voted "present" instead of making a stand on issues and voting yes or no to help his constiuents. By the way, World Leaders do respect Senator Clinton!

She would and if she didn't, the media would have a field day, but NO!!! Barack Obama doesn't mind the support from all of his racist friends...he never even said any retort in the debate the other night when the reporter asked him about his own Reverend saying that Louis Farakan is a "great man with a mission" What a bunch of crap!!! Hillary Clinton is a really really bad liar. She claimed she was named after Sir Edmund Hillary who in 1953 was one of two climbers to scale Mount Everest first. Yet ! Hillary Clinton was born in 1947--six years prior to that feat.

I can only conclude she was named six years after her birth date.

You only can say that because you are not a woman. That's like saying minorities should not have supported Martin Luther King (or in this case, the overwhelming AA support for Obama). You cannot understand the courage and sacrifice of someone like Hillary Clinton if you are not a woman. To us, she is heroic, battling the insidious sexism in this culture and around the world, despite the hostility that it arouses. Just look at this election. There is so much hatred for her JUST because she dares to be as powerful, intelligent, and assertive as a man. The bias is obvious to us, because we have lived it. And what men don't realize is that this kind of bigotry demeans the entire culture. YOU GO GIRL!!

Senators Clinton and Obama BOTH have much to offer America, why not allow our election system run it's course? Actually, there are so many delegates/states yet to be decided, that Obama's lead is not that significant. The impending primaries favor Hillary. Obama just got lucky with the primary schedule. The demographics in the last group of states after super Tuesday favored Obama, but that is over. Hillary will stay alive and then will take PA. Quitting now would be absurd unless you're an Obama fan writing this article with an agenda to psych-out the Hillary supporters. Bravo to schatzismom--you posted my comment for me. I'd like to add: What, exactly, has Mr. Alter done in his career to help women, children, the poor and disenfranchised that qualifies him to dismiss Hillary Clinton with such self-satisfied disrespect? I'd like to compare their public service resumes. Does it ever occur to him that there are hundreds of thousands of us out here that are passionate supporters of hers, and that it is hardly the media's unbashedly biased and sexist role to decide this election for us? The sense of entitlement and arrogance is shameless and repulsive! Does it occur to you that Hillary does not quit because half the Democrats in this country are begging her not to, despite the relentless forces determined to undermine her from the beginning? She is listening to us, you pompous fool. Where do you think that $35 million she raised this month came from? And as a poll showed today, a large percentage of white, blue collar Democrats are going to defect to McCain if Obama is the nominee, and once again, the spineless Democrats will lose. It's not enough that Obama is profoundly unqualified--do you think he'd even be an also-ran if he was a woman with his thin resume?!--but he also shares Alter's arrogance, and like others, I will consider McCain, Nader, or be a conscientious objector if he is the choice. This has been like a repeat of the media's drumbeat for Bush and the war all over again. What an inane culture--people would rather vote for a fantasy, than deal with reality. That is why the infrastructure of this country is disintegrating. We don't want someone who is not glamorous, but works hard day and night. We want a movie star for President. That's worked out really well so far...

The slide show ends and the room goes silent. One of the Generals is seen like he??s making a prayer.

General # 3 - ??Are you telling us These Two have arrived on Earth and have some things to say to us.

    - That??s what we??re telling you sir.

General # 1 - ??Where do these people sit on your chart???

    - They are the chart.

General # 2 - ??I see. These are very serious issues. Why wasn??t this brought to our attention earlier???

    - We had our best people working on this and were given bad advice by the. The cowboyjunkies.com and capitolgrilling.com message boards where the military posts are shown. It seems not all of our people are were working in the best interests of The World and the human species and had their own evil agenda. We thought because they had the same training as us they were on our side, and they weren??t.

General # 3 - ??And they??ve been taken care of.??

    - Uhhh, their still on our payroll.

The board goes silent and the verse detailing the coddling of criminals is shown on the projector.

General # 2 - Who is he, materially.

    - He??s a new artist. For some reason he had to wait until he begin the conversation with the people we knew. Other than that, he??s been working here and there and has been writing and studying. He??s no Mother Theresa, but he??s a holy guy. He smokes pot, which he addressed in one of the verses he??s published.

General # 4 turns to the advisors invited to the table. ??Do you believe he??s who he is??

    - Each of the advisors look inward and know they are being watched. Since their souls were destroyed for coddling those who threatened to harm the two, the advisors remain silent. Their silence speaks volumes and one of the Generals can almost imagine their skeletons on fire.

General # 2 - ??And who is she, materially???

    - The Pink Power Ranger.

The room goes silent again and the Generals look at each other.

General # 3 - ??Are you telling us He and The Pink Power Ranger have something to say to the most powerful nation in the history of the world?

    - Uhhh, of our test world sir.

    - She??s the actress who played The Pink Power Ranger, was on the television show Felicity, is a new singer, and was on the television show The Division. We think this has something to do with stereotypes.

    General # 5 - ??Stereotypes???

    General # 1 - ??Surveillance???

    - We??re all around them.

General # 4 - ??Or are they all around us.??
