Wow, what a way to pile on to the Newsie. The media is the darling of liberals as longs it is slamming Bush. But, lo and behold, let a journalist print an article that doesn't show the Blessed, Sainted Hillary in Celestial light, and BAM!! OFF WITH HIS HEAD!!!!

    What hypocrites.

Mr. Alter, while I don???t agree with you that Hillary should drop out, I do agree that gracefully exiting will strengthen her ???12 bid.

Great article sir! The math is simple.. What is it that you Einstein's see that is better than what a former president who ran for office sees? If she doesn't win these Texas and Ohio, it's over. The desperation in the Clinton campaign is palpable. You can cut it with a knife. Do I really want someone who is flailing as a candidate as my President? No. From what I've seen, her response to tough times is crying. That's not a President, that's a..crying woman in a nice suit.

No, Hillary should NOT exit now....Fight it to the end! If she throws the towel in now, that will just boost the ego of an already overly arrogant man. Hang in there, you NEVER know what will happen in the end.

i will vote for Hillary because she is the best qualified!! Why would anyone want some unknow..and i mean unknown..who heard of Obama untill this race. A nobody with a golden tongue. Those Dems that got him to run just played the race card against the Clintons. This guy is a nobody that doen't deserve to lead our nation.

Mr. Abdul...or Miss...or Ms. as it were. The first point that I would like to make is that I challenge anyone who would make negative comments about the President to put yourself in his shoes for one day. Next, President Bush got this country in the shambles that President Clinton left it in (apparently it's okay for our commander-in-chief to sen all of our jobs overseas and lie to a grand jury). Third, and most important, as intelligent and well-spoken may be, there is way too much controversy surrounding him and his campaign for me to trust him with my country's and family's future. God bless you and God bless America!!! ;)

THIS IS A BRILLIANT ARTICLE--Well written and wise. The problem with the Clintons is not simply a pletora of bad judgments but pride. Not surprisingly, they do not know when to get out of the ring! DESPERATION drives some people to do desperate things! Hillary in panic seems nows a danger not only to herself but to all around her. In one week, she has gone from yelling hawk-eyed to swift-boating her opponent. She suggests in many ways that Sen. Obama (and by implication) her supporters are delusional--"clouds in heaven". She sees everything she and Bill had hoped and dreamed about slipping off her hands: winning the dynasty competition with the Bushes, prima donna status in American politics, fatter fees for Bill's speaking engagements, huge contributions for the Clinton Library because his "wife is President," Bill's business escapades with world leaders abroad (note recent NYT expose) and in the Lincoln bedroom, and so much more. It's about the Clintons and little about the people! That is why she seems apparently against democracy itself--anti-crowds, anti a people's movement, anti-hope, anti-inspirational leadership, anti-Obama's inter-party alliances, anti-new politics, anti-working together with all (independents, Republicans and Democrats working together)--all the things that Democrats should have been proud of for the coming election. She clearly lacks the vision to see or appreciate the bigger picture. Anachronistic, you might say! Or worse, selfish individuality!

If you think this is "brilliant" then I wonder if you live in the real world. The Dr. before you name is a dream to a dream and hope to. Like Obama you can make up anything if people can't check it out. This is as stupid as others in the bias media just like it.. Just for you I am going out and giving another contribution to Hillary. I think you should do the same!

Dr. Sam needs to take a fever reducer. he has been infected with the religious fervor of the Obama movement. His comments are actually rather funny, yet sad because he is spouting the Obama party line yet sounds completely unlike the kind of person that Mr. Obama would need to bring this nation or even just the party together. Is this evidence of what his united party sounds like?

Obama has 1192 pledged delegates. Clinton has 1036. The winner needs 2025. Newsweek thinks Clinton should quit?

Using Newsweeks way of thinking means the N. Y. Giants should have quit at halftime of the Super Bowl.

    OUTSTANDING!!!

Only in America can you have this much stupidity.

I think Clinton made an ass of herself at the debate between Obama and Clinton. I was going to vote for Clinton. I thought it would be great to see a woman in the President's Chair. She is a very smart woman. She does have some great ideas. But, she made herself look bad. It really bothers me that she had to go there. I did decide to vote for Obama. I believe that he would be a good change in this world. He also has great ideas and I see his as a strong leader. His wife too.:-) Hillary has every right to keep on going and I expect her to. But, I don't think she is going to win this election. She has done an amazing job, but not going to win.

Barbara, you are an idiot. I am a former republican and current independent, so I say this with as much compassion as I can muster. (sarcasm, sarcasm) It is SOOOOO obvious that you are just can't stand the idea of seeing the chance of the first female president slip away. This guy is only saying that she can save her chance at the 2012 nomination by bowing out now! People like you are why the Democratic Party is a Freaking joke. You people talk about being the "Party of Tolerance" and then you spaz out and call this guy an ass just for expressing his opinion!!! Great job!!! Moron! : )

  • Posted By: Cynical Sam @ 02/25/2008 6:14:13 PM

Jonathan must live in an "Alter"-nate universe if he truly thinks Hillary will quit. Why should she ?
She is the best and most qualifed candidate that the Dems have, and unlike her opponent, she has the substance, not just the style, to lead this country to where Obama can only " hope "and dream about.

Yes, the current polls are in Obama's favor, but I, for one, still have faith that the American voters will recognize Obama's campaign as being one of marketing a product that doesn't even exist. Motivation is a wonderful thing, but without any concrete direction or original ideas of his own, Obama will lead us
    nowhere .......SLOW !

In 2007 Obama's own wife Michelle, spoke publicly about her husband, and this is from a direct transcript of her speech:

''And then there's the Barack Obama that lives with me in my house, and that guy's a little less impressive. For some reason this guy still can't manage to put the butter up when he makes toast, secure the bread so that it doesn't get stale, and his 5-year-old is still better at making the bed than he is.''

She also said that the TV version of Barack Obama sounded really interesting and that she'd "like to meet him sometime."

With National Security high on the list of campaign issues, I don't understand supporting a candidate who can't even secure... a loaf of bread.

Has the American public grown so used to the thinly veiled "Sneer & Veneer" press tactics of the current administration that we do not even recognize it in a new candidate ??

Hillary, in contrast has taken on the big drug companies who are gouging the American public once before, causing them to spend 100 MILLION dollars to defeat her efforts ...AS THE FIRST LADY !

As President, she will have the power and clout to finish what she started for our sick children, veterans, parents, and the rest of us, and work her determined and focused way, down the long list of issues that face us as a Nation.

So the only cure for this Obama deliirum,( that seems to be spread by word of mouth,...his !)
is a good dose of reality and facts that should cause any informed voter to welcome an incurable case of
"BARACK-NAPHOBIA" : a sobering fear of electing an unqualified and inexperienced President..

"As President, she will have the power and clout to finish what she started for our sick children, veterans, parents, and the rest of us, and work her determined and focused way, down the long list of issues that face us as a Nation."

The objective word here is "finish what she started." As the first lady, her agenda could only be a small fraction of the Presidents. As with many of her current outstanding, by the way side, I will get to them later concerns, why DIDN'T she finish what she started? Because she REALLY cared about your children? Or, is it possible that it didn't serve any futher public credibility to help her along a personal political agenda (like the Presidency)? Reality is, if she REALLY cared THAT much, it WOULD have gotten done!

Who abandons their "heart and soul" bills for the "next time around" when children's health IS depending on it? THAT is the problem! If a child were in distress, would you merely try to help them then walk away and convince yourself you will help that child later? There aren't many Americans I can t hink of that WILL do that!!! In most of our eyes, the situation would become a "do or die" challenge; especially when there are so many negative effects that continue to keep people in distraught. When Robert Kennedy first became aware of many issues of poverty and the lack of housing and proper nutrition for many children in America do you think he waited until he would possibly become President? Do you think he would let ANY situation stagger his efforts to change this? NO! He took it on with TRUE conviction; not a "want to be" saint that can't get sanctimonious! He was willing to put EVERYTHING it took to change this! You hit the nail RIGHT on its ugly head. True conviction is NOT so shallow! Many of us question; if she is so compassionate, why DIDN'T she do more? Why didn't she get it done?

I am just an every day citizen like every one else and I can't stand to see people suffer. My wife tells me that I can't save the world and I tell her in return "at least I can die trying." I don't see the commitment and determination this country needs in Hillary. Many people don't and it is her history, all of these things she keeps referring to to support her "experience" that makes many of us think; if she didn't stick with it before, will she let America down again???

      • Posted By: Cynical Sam @ 02/25/2008 9:51:38 PM

Reality check time. If you had been paying attention to what was happennig during her efforts as First Lady, the drug companies and insurance companies spent 100 million on a barrage of scare tactic ads that pictured Grandma and Grampa waiting in long lines for medical help and and limited quantities of drugs in a complete misrepresentation of what the results of her proposed health care reform would bring. These scare tactics and large political contributions to politicians who vowed to look into their interests and not yours, are what killed it. Her mistake was letting the drug companies sit at the table at all, thinking that they would look beyond their gluttonous bottom line and realize that their business was also about making a person healthy, and not just a healthy profit. . These past several years have brought these practices to light, and have even the most revered members of the medical field in an uproar.

For example, Marcia Angel, M.D. Senior lecturer at Harvard Medical School, Former Editor in Chief of The New England Journal of Medicine, and one of 1997's TIME Magazine's Most Influential Americans, AND Author of "The Truth About the Drug Companies' finds it appalling that the United States is the only developed major country that currently allows drug companies to sell a their product at WHATEVER they can get for it with NO profit cap, and allows them to price-gouge the sick. *

( * I tried to include the experience of HMO horror or a family member, but I'm limited to 3000 characters.)

Hillary has faced that dragon before, and wants back in the fight. despite it being what most people call political suicide. It's not about politics for her . It's about doing what's right and not just "HOPING" that things are going to get better on their own. She has stated that the American people are entitled to the same coverage that members of Congress get and that no sick person should be refused treatment for any reason, least of all poverty. The market can bear affordable coverage for everyone if you smack down the drug company warlords and their billion dollar salaries made on the suffering of others. Look into what these company's CEOs make and it will make you sick. ...but check with your insurance company first to see if your covered.

When you speak of what type of person, if they truly cared, could possibly be knocked down in this endeavor, well then you have no idea of corporate influence in this country. Instead I ask you what type of person could take a beating like that and get up stronger and come back fighting even harder ?

I feel on that issue alone, that type of person should be our next President, and with the resources that go with the job, that will only be the beginning of a better America.

        - Sam
