I have been reading these comments for the past couple of weeks and it really sicken me how divisive the "Democratic" party really is. Reading some of your fellow Democrats comments, You would think that Obama and Hillary were in opposing parties. This is a real sad moment for America and a pitiful moment for the "Democratic" party at large.

Half of these posts are so poorly written it is hard to decipher exactly what the person who posted it is trying to say. I cannot believe how many stupid people live in this country and have no problem advertising just how stupid they can be. The author of this article makes a very valid point. Most of the posters below are two ignorant to see it. Have any of you been watching the polls? Do you even understand the primary process? Hillary is on a sinking ship, and nothing short of a miracle can help her. A true Hillary supporter would understand that if she has any intention of running again in the future, she needs to bow out gracefully now before she humiliates herself and alienates her supporters. Look at recent events where she went from claiming it is ???an honor??? to be in a campaign against Obama, to slamming him about his political methods just a short while later. Let me get this straight. She actually complained about Obama running a dirty campaign? I can???t believe that Hillary, the queen of dirty politics, would dare to point the finger at someone else. She is looking desperate. In the end, by fighting a loosing battle to the bitter outcome, she will prove the critics right who say that she doesn???t have the good sense to run this country, and that she is only in it for the power. This nomination was hers to win from the beginning and she has done everything she possibly could do to mess things up for herself. This will go down as one of the most poorly managed campaigns in history; quite a contrast to Bill???s ???96 re-election campaign. Quite frankly, I am a republican and would LOVE to see Hillary win. I think Obama has a much better chance of being elected president than she does. Young democratic voters will turn out in big numbers for him because they like Obama and can identify with him. Also, in conversations with other republicans, I get the feeling that republicans are much more open to Obama, citing his lack of experience as the major fault. However, most republicans despise BOTH Clintons and would turn out in record numbers to vote against Hillary. Instead of complaining and whining, I think Hillary supporters should be happy when she loses, at least with Obama your party may have a shot at the White House.

Yes, a SHOT AT McCain winning. Obama is a LOOSER AND A LIER. HE will NEVER win the General Election with out Hillary supporters which is out.

This article is the prime example of how the media is controlling the election. Shame on you Jonathan Alter. Please stick to journalistic integrity and writing about the facts and not advancing your own political agenda.

In words, only bad news should be reported about Obama and only good news on Hillary. Geesh where are the educated folks on this board?

There are three problems with Obama being nominated:
    1. The Republicans would rather run against Obama than Clinton. McCain could win. There are still a lot of people who won't vote for a black candidate. Obama's youth and lack of experience gives him emotional appeal, but most people when it comes down to reality, will feel safer with an old white guy. The Republicans will have a much easier time undermining people's confidence in Obama.
    2. Obama will likely be ineffective. Presidents are not kings. Remember Jimmy Carter. Real nice, and great ideas, but unable to effectively wield power.
    3. Remember the Kennedy's and Martin Luther King. There are a lot of white people with guns who don't want to give power to a black president. Hell they'll even assassinate progressive white guys.

If Clinton is nominated, she will become president; McCain doesn't stand a chance. As president she will be effective, guaranteed. She's always got Bill to advise her. In spite of his infidelity, he eliminated deficits and put the country right, and she will too. You don't need to like your president; she needs to be effective (with real power and experienced in wielding it).

Are you serious? Every major poll shows McCain destroying Hillary in a potential general election. Granted that may not actually happen but to suggest that it would be easier for the Republicans to defeat Obama is completely unfounded.

It boils down to the powers that be would rather have a man...any man, including a black man who we know little about, than a woman in the White House. It is the same sexist politics and standards that women have been struggling against for all time.

    • Posted By: TheBroker @ 02/25/2008 6:23:14 PM

OK FemNazi, I think you're in the wrong forum.

    • Posted By: Hokies2001 @ 02/25/2008 5:08:19 PM

This is exactly what I said to my husband the other night. People truly can't stand the thought of a woman in the White House - including other woman. Are we so oppressed as woman that we can't stand up for one another. Sexism, at least for this nomination, is much more of an issue than racism. And to the author, you should consider resigning.... Maybe you were thinking of Mike Huckabee? Or are you also drinking the Obama kool-aid?

I think its come down to the point where people are beginning to realize that there is no validation of the "experience" factor. I believe it was the mayor of Wisconsin that stated "he can't see why people are going about experience because, Baracks experience is far from hallow."

If a person have not researched his background by now as to the reason why comments about his "experience" is still vague, then there is a slim to none chance they intend to educate themselves. It is a pity that ones right to vote would be used in such careless, thoughtless and meaningless manner.. On end, I can only say this; it is vitally important that people consider political awareness are part of their future challenge!

No she should not drop out, This race is way to close. I am waiting for the Obama bubble to burst. Anyone who is really checking the record can see he does not have one. Even he has admitted when he was elected to the senate that he lacked the experience and felt that you should be qualified for the position you seek. Voting present is not establishing a record. I am scared for this country if he is elected, he is not the new messiah.

everyone who gets on the "we should have focused on afghanistan" bandwagon has no idea the extent of the terrorists efforts and the everyday briefings that President Bush gets regarding terrorists efforts. I'll bet if they did then the criticisms of his administration would dwindle a bit...maybe not though. Critics always have the benefit of no liability for arm chair quarterbacking. Years from now we may know the real extent of dangers we faced through this period of time. I believe Bush has done everything he felt was necessary for security, damn the hides of his critics. No Democrat would have had the stomach to make and act on as aggressive a policy as Bush has had since 911. I doubt we would have even gone into Afghanistan had there been a Democrat in office. They would have probably sent in some cruise missles just for show and cowered over here on our own continent hoping for no more attachs. I can't wait to hear the Dems cry that the impending chaos is also Bush's fault AFTER the Dems force a withdrawl from Iraq.

Obama just won the election. He recieved the unwavering endorsement of that Great American Hero-Louis Farrakhan. Everyone should drop out now.

    Dear Newsweek Editorial Board,

Please do not run this article in print. Seeing it online is torture enough. Come to your senses and display some journalistic integrity even if one of your writers is unable to do so. He should be fired.

The reasons Obama is ahead in the race is two fold. One, people are afraid to say that they don't think he'd make a good president for fear of being called a racist, forget the fact that he has virtually no experience in public office, the press does nothing but express how great a movement Obama is creating and how tremendous crowds gather to hear him speak, etc. The second reason is the press is in bed with the republicans in that they have given the U.S. the impression that Clinton has already been president in the form of Bill and forgeting that Hillary was not running the country but attempting to keep a relationship together beyong the Whitehouse.

Why the devil would Hilary "just drop out?" Look at McCain a few months ago...he didn't have a chance, and now he's all those Republicans have to vote for!

  • Posted By: Graceuntold @ 02/25/2008 6:11:43 PM

McCain will not win, I promise you this.

    • Posted By: HolyRoller @ 02/25/2008 6:19:35 PM

      Against Hussein Obama??? Please...

  • Posted By: kmole @ 02/25/2008 6:18:53 PM

You are obviously not paying attention. Clinton is only 69 votes behind Obama, and she is leading in Superdelegates which are the most important b/c they don't rely on voters to make their decision. Clinton CAN still win!!!
