I have yet to see any proof of Barack Obama's ability to lead the country. What I've seen of Hillary Clinton's leadership skills is not much better, if any better at all. In either case, the only change we'll see if a Democrat gets elected is what's left over from out paychecks after he or she raises our taxes to pay for hand-outs and entitlements.

One more thought. What is with all of the people on here claiming the "media" is run by republicans? What planet are you living on? The majority of media outlets (OK...we won't count FOX news) definitely tend toward the liberal side of things. The media has not been unfair to Hillary, everything she has received she has wrought herself.

Jonathan Alter, who are you to insult Hillary.

You supposly media have no education, you think you can insult anybody.

All those like you are vulture.

    • Posted By: BRogers08 @ 02/25/2008 6:06:54 PM

Mr. Alter can spell and form grammatically correct sentences. I'd say that makes him at least slightly more educated than you. Unbelievable!

Comment: Comment: Such much for the first woman president.................an unattractive woman, with a shrill voice, hard-edge, but with experience and a bedrock of ideas is going to lose because.......................a young, attractive man comes along with pretty words, sugar-coated speeches and woes all the ladies.

Obama is smooth - tell the girls what they want to hear, it does not matter if it is the same, repacked "change" politicians have been promising forever.

Mr. Tall, Dark and Handsome with a millionare dollar smile...............

    Women fall for it everytime................................................

Politics is by nature a dirty game - because the power stakes are so high. The Clintons must start to play hard ball, like the Bushites did. How about demanding pictures of the Obama gene pool - the Kansas mom and the Kenyan pop, or have they passed on? The media shows us the Clinton circus ad nauseam: imaginary tears, insults to Chelsea, the tough, admirable mom. Are there ghosts in the Obama closet?

  • Posted By: Graceuntold @ 02/25/2008 6:06:09 PM

I don't think Hillary has anymore grace left, her mean-spirited tactics against Obama and her unprofessionalism and weak campaign team are examples of how this country would be run. Its a scary thought.

We all learn a great deal of what it takes to be successful in our positions "on the job." Someone took a chance on us simply because we showed promise. Senator Obama has done more than that. He rightly has introduced over 1000 bills in the Illinois Senate as well as Congress in a short time. His experience will come to light when it should...after Senator Clinton releases her grip on her dream of being President. She is capable in the way that the vast majority of our politicians are capable. I am not interested in that now that I've seen the way the process works. I want more transparency, more accountability from my elected officials. I want honest dealings with leaders of other countries. I want fairness, some sense of togetherness with all men and women. The details on what to do or not to do in the job of President were learned by all Presidents, essentially "on the job." I believe that all the candidates stand for what they believe in and my kudos to them. However, I want a LEADER. A true leader who inspires and works to set the example for myself and my children. I do not know Senator Barak Obama. But I am convinced that with him I will be working side by side with him to make my country great and not just as one of the "sheep" that cling to what divides us: Rich and Poor, Republican and Democrat, Black and White, Red and Blue...There is more to us all than that. Fortunately, I have met the "man," seen him with his children, and seen first hand that his "rhetoric" is simply his ideals borne from attempts to live all of our dream of making our life count. Too many comments are focused on the simple difficulties of life without remembering that what brought this country into being were people that wanted a new country with higher ideals of representation for every American. Who can do that better than Sen. Obama? Right now.? Right Here? I'm not banking on anyone else. I think President Obama has the greatest opportunity to represent ALL the people, more than any other candidate.

How much did Obama compain pay you to write this artical you hack reported.

I am not sure what "experience" Hillary has. If 8 years in the White House as first lady entitles her to run for President based on experience, then perhaps Laura Bush has a shot. Hillary failed at implementing her Universal Health care plan in the '90's, was a supporter of NAFTA, and don't forget Travelgate, Whitewater, renting of the Lincoln bedroom, etc. Let's not forget about lavish White House parties, and the fact that her current campaign is running out of money faster than she can bring it in due in part to nights spent at the Bellagio, dunkin dounut runs, etc.

Bill Clinton the best of all time?? Were you paying attention? Try the luckiest of all time.

Is the reason behind obamas lack of support for our troops in Iraq because of his muslum background? He reminds me of the president of Iran the way he sways crowds.. I do not understand why average people would follow him anywhere. He wants to ghange Washington into what. I refuse to follow this Hawian anywhere .

Hillary cannot resign gracefully, because she lacks integrity. When Bill Clinton ran in 1992, his only qualification was Governor of a small state (same as Jimmy Carter). She offered herself as Co-President, but her only qualification was private-practice lawyer. Today, she insists that Obama lacks experience, yet Obama offers more than either she or Bill offered in 1992. Her lack of integrity is her disqualifying factor.

How about if you quit Mr. Jonathan Alter, shame on you and all the media who never gave Hillary a chance I know what is this all about, you know in your heart that no way and how Obama is going to be President, is all a plan to get McCain for President.. SHAME ON ALL YOU MEDIA WHO ARE LIKE JUDA ALL FOR GREED!!

  • Posted By: logic_phenom @ 02/25/2008 5:17:40 PM

Hillary is getting desperate, and beginning to employ desperate measures. Unfortunately for her, the voters can see through it. Getting out now would, indeed, be a classy and unifying move. I don't think she is capable of it.

    • Posted By: dallasiteforhillary @ 02/25/2008 6:03:31 PM

No - we see her willingness to fight. She should keep going. We have got her back here in Texas.

  • Posted By: shasta2001 @ 02/25/2008 6:03:27 PM

Why should she give up the race when it is Independents and Rebuplicans putting him in the lead?
The rank and file Democrats are with Clinton I am afraid. Look at election results, subtract Independents and Rebuplicans, then you will see where the two Candidates stand. This is the nomination of the Democratic Party, not a popularity contest of whoever shows up! Hope the Super Delegates remember why they are there!

Newsweek I think you stink ! If Obama wins no chance against the Republicans...GET READY ANOTHER REPUBLICAN :(

  • Posted By: sheljin @ 02/25/2008 5:57:39 PM

I am tired of all the "political pundits" telling us and the candidates what should happen and why. I am tired of it apparently being more important to report on the "race" than on the issues and the campaigns of both candidates. You report that Clinton & Obama are neck & neck in the Texas primary, close in Ohio, they are close in delegates. Why should she give up now? Suddenly, we're going to act like the nationwide popular vote should matter when picking a nominee? It doesn't even matter in the general election! You all are tired of reporting the primaries and are looking for a new spin. I say let each state do what they do. Why shouldn't every state in the country try to move up their primaries if the media plans to call even a dead-heat races as already over & done? Most of the country barely knows Obama -- do we never learn from our mistakes? I am a Democrat and will be voting Democratic no matter what. But I have serious concerns about Obama and would like to have a little more time to get to know about him and his policies........to have time for the MEDIA, which is supposed to protect and serve the electorate, time to review his complete background before he is crowned the nominee by them. Stop trying to end this process before it deserves to be ended. Just because you all are ready to start reporting the general election doesn't change the fact that there are states who are still doing what they have every right to do. Why in the world should some of the biggest (most populous as well since you are now concerned about the popular vote) be suddenly rendered obsolete?? It is a sorry state of affairs when a state like Iowa is given so much importance by a media which is quite happy to just write off Ohio, Texas, etc etc.

    • Posted By: Graceuntold @ 02/25/2008 6:03:09 PM

Clearly Clinton can't win, even if she wins Texas and Ohio. She will only win by a very small margin meaning she will split the delegates with Obama and therefore Obama will still have more delegates. You have to remember he has won 11 straight contests against her, it will be hard for her to win Texas and Ohio in a large margin. Its just not sound judgement.
