Why do we have primaries that go until April if we are going to choose a nominee in February? That sounds like a waste of time, effort and money to me. I hope she stays in till the end of March 4th at least. We in Texas want to be heard. I am weary of a guy that comes out of nowhere (Heavily endorsed at the 2004 DNC - did you see all the signs people were holding up then? I though Kerry was the nominee) and wants to be President. He has been campaigning for public office since he left Harvard Law. Nope Hillary is the one we need right now. She has my vote. Is it possible that OB supporters want her to bow out now so that if she does surge ahead that she could get the nomination? Wondering in Texas.........

I recognise you from TV. You are against Hillary...perhaps because she is a [dreaded] woman?

This is your 3rd post implying people who prefer Obama to Clinton are biased due to her gender. Sounds like somebody has a chip on her shoulder.

Jonathan Alter is like one of those movie characters that always has the wrong opinions about the hero; the ones we all hate throughout the movie, the ones that give the hero the courage to succeed... and the ones who pay for it in the end. Alter should bow out of reporting.

I'm likely to go with the new guy but to suggest Hillary should exit at this point is unfair to democracy in America. Back when the media should have been scrutinizing the terrible policy decision of the President and Congress to go to war in Iraq, the media operated like an accomplice in this misguided foreign adventure. Many times since then the media has failed to spotlight and force issues for the good of all. This year the media got it wrong in the New Hampshire Primary. While we have soldiers dying on foreign soil, the least we voters could do is have the stomach for a so-called "long, divisive primary season." Opinion leaders, elected leaders and judges are all too quick to make decisions based on the idea that the people cannot stomach the pain of hard decision-making. Remember the case of Gore v. Bush and the Supreme Court's decision to steal the decision making role from the hands of the voters and Congress in that Presidential election? Please! Americans (a highly medicated people) do not need anesthetizied elections when our kids are dying for us. The voters can endure. We'll be fine, thank you very much.

Hillary is simply working for what she believes, she is the right candidate for the White House. Is anybody listening to her? Pay attention. Don't make the same mistake when President Bush was elected. Inexperience is an understatement. If Obama becomes the Democrat candidate, it will be another 8 years of fiasco.

"A house devided against itself will not stand" goes the saying [something like that anyway]. You democrats might have had a chance to defeat McCain with a Clinton/Obama or Obama/Clinton ticket but you seem intent on letting them fight each other until August with the general election to follow. Maybe Hillary should drop out and pull a Lieberman..... that would be entertaining. Who knows, I might even vote for her if she did.

I am a Black Female who thinks that Obama is the WORSE THING THAT COULD OF HAPPENED TO THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY. Hillary, is not quit because Obama and his Cult of Followers wishes her to. I have no respect for the way the Media and the press has tried to give Obama the nomination from the beginning because they donot want a woman in the whitehouse and because they HATE HILLARY. Well, get over it. Hillary IS IN IT TO WIN IT.

Go report on all of Obama's Lies and leave Hillary alone.

I doubt that Hillary will end her lackluster campaign. By the time she is done trampling over the democratic party John M will be president. It is amazing how stupid the Dem party can be. American's want likeable presidents and Hillary isn't likeable. However until the convention in Denver Hillary will continue to bad mouth her opponents and ruin all chances that we as tax payers have of getting another Dem in office. Thanks Hillary.....

It is clear that you are an Obamaphile - Some of us are long term "real Democrats" not first-time voters are so-called independents. I support the democrat that really represents the core values of the democratic philosophy. As such, the only real democrat left standing is Hillary Clinton and she represents my interest - I have always voted for the democrat that reprsents core democtatic principles and Obama has not convinced me that he represents those values or even deserves my vote. Hence, should he actually win the nomination.- I don't think I will be voting for him and if I am feeling that way I am absolutely sure there are many more of us "real democrats" that may not vote in the general electiuon. McCain isn't that bad.... .

It's just amazing to me that the media has crowned Obama the would be Emperor with no clothes...Other than rhetoric and high ideals he offers little in the way of answers and solutions. But because the pundits have helped to propel him forward...NOW they suggest that Hillary should step aside...IF after Texas and Ohio she loses by a substantial margin...I'm sure THAT is what she'll do...Of course I would have preferred Biden over all of the Dem. candidates...But if Obama ends up the nominee, I'll have to plug my nose and vote for McCain because he has proved (at least to me) that he is NOT ready!

I wish people would stop making this about gender. I don't agree with this publication, I think Hillary still has a good chance. However, people need to stop saying that sexism is a larger issue than racism. Hillary is not the one that rivals only the President of the United States in how many secret service agents he has to have to keep him safe. So, let's be real....Hillary just isn't as likeable. However qualified she made be, she has made many enemies and will continue to do so if elected. If she loses, it will have nothing to do with her sex, but everything to do with HER! I am a Texas resident and she came to speak at my school and it was closed off to students...faculty and staff only. Now, if Obama is pulling all the student votes who do you think she should be trying to appeal to? Instead, she sent her husband to talk to us while she moved on to another city. Not smart. I, for one, WAS a supporter when I first learned that she was running, but in the few months she has shown little class and zero grace towards her opponents, notably Obama and that has nothing to do with her gender, but that is not the kind of person that I want running my country.

Jon, I know that I am somewhat older than you and have been closely involved with politics 50+ years, and thereby have witnessed a bunch of presidential races, not to mention a multitude of others where candidates have stormed back from from the dead. Remember McCain in '08? It is too easy to see where you fall on the political scale, but you seem to be supporting the Democratic Party by advocating (further) denial of the right-to-vote. It is simply amazing the way the parties switched on this issue. Back to the point, there is a time for candidate to "withdraw", that is for sure. But, now is not the time for Hillery to withdraw. That would not send the right message to millions of Americans. Namely, "when the going gets tough, quit." No, she may get embarrassed, but it goes with the territory. Are you going to quit just because you failed to get it right regarding this issue? I certainly hope not, because sometimes you do get it right.

I too am waiting for Obama to explain his plans for all the issues he thinks he can tackle if elected. A good speaker is not what is needed but someone who has true plans waiting. I am still waiting for that from Obama. As they used to say, "Where's the beef." Also wouldn't it be nice if the media did a job of reporting instead of giving us their opinions on how things should be done. I think the main thing that everyone forgets is if he gets elected it does not mean a thing will be done. First we need to take care of Congress where the real power lies. Have them do the peoples bidding.

Before I go though, I'd like to clarify my position on the topic of this discussion. Some responses to my earlier posts seem to indicate I'm saying that Clinton bowing out now is a bad idea. Actually I could care less. She's going to lose eventually anyway, and if she wants to go down kicking and screaming, that's her decision. I'm all for Obama. After these last few years of Bush, I'm ready for a change. I, like most of America, am finally starting to realize that it's time for...I don't want to say change here, because it'd be slightly redundant...but, time for a new face in politics. It's true, Obama has little experience. But he's educated. He's well spoken, a welcome change after these last eight years. And he's charismatic. Charisma will be important for our next president, whoever it ends up being. There are a lot of strained relationships to fix out there, and I think Obama is the one to do it. Am I right? Ask me in four years.

Hillary is a piece of trash and that's why she's losing pure and simple!

Why are you name calling someone you don't even know. Obama is a Muslim and black do you really think that America is ready for that. I really don't think so, McClain will win. By the way name calling is not the way to go, use your intelligents.

Obama supreme, you are way way way off base. Obama is the consistent favorite for being given a free pass by anyone and everyone that is in a position to make a comment about his lack of substance and inexperience. Words and only words is what Obama has and will give this country. I am amazed at the lack of intelligence in some Obama supporters, they blindly follow him much like many republicans did with G.W. during the '04 elections except he actually had plans to do something (albeit very bad plans). I am in college and I have heard from many of my friends at various colleges that Obama supporters have declined many offers by Hillary supporters to have a debate regarding the issues. That is not only classless but decisions made in fear of Obama being exposed as having false promises and half-truths throughout his campaign.

If Senator Clinton does not win by huge margins on Mar. 4, she should quit and endorse Obama. After seeing her changing moods and sarcasism this past weekend making fun of Obama's spritual persona, I can't see supporting her anymore.
