Hillary should step down. I voted for Bill Clinton twice, but I'm very disappointed in both of them. It seems that they are more concerned with holding onto control of the Democratic Party, which they've had for 15 years than they are with helping Americans. They seem more concerned with redeeming Bill's tarnished presidency than they do with what is best for the Party and the nation. Hillary's sense that she is entitled to be president, that she was the inevitable nominee is beyond arrogant--it shows how out-of-touch she is with the electorate. Hillary and her insular team have chosen to ignore her consistently high negatives. Half the Democrats do not like or trust her--and Republicans loathe her. Even before Obama entered the campaign, I thought that, in spite of the debacle of the W. Bush administration, we--Democrats--could lose in November if Hillary is the nominee. Hillary and her expensive advisers have misread the mood of the electorate. Hillary has been focused on herself, on herself as president, for so long that she cannot see anything else--she has lost her perspective. Her high negatives--not the media--have been consistent and are responsible for her defeats. The flaw is in the candidate. Also, thankfully for Democrats, Obama is better organized, better advised, better funded, and better-prepared. Obama has understood the mood of the electorate all along and he has spoken to the hearts and minds of Americans. He still regards himself as one of us; Hillary thinks she is above us. She epitomizes hubris. When she told Katie Couric, back in January, "I will win," I thought she was tempting fate. Only God is allowed that much certainty. She would be wise to remember the myth of Narcissus.
