MSMBC POLITICS DECISION 08: OBAMA SEEKS TO AFFIRM HIS PATRIOTISM. HERE REPUBLICANS TAKE OUR GUY STILL TRYING TO FIND HIS PATRIOTISM. REALLY OUR GIRL, GO HILLARY!
How Obama could get a jump on the general election campaign.
MSMBC POLITICS DECISION 08: OBAMA SEEKS TO AFFIRM HIS PATRIOTISM. HERE REPUBLICANS TAKE OUR GUY STILL TRYING TO FIND HIS PATRIOTISM. REALLY OUR GIRL, GO HILLARY!
I'm a Republican voting for Obama because I believe that he is the best candidate, the one most qualified to tackle our current problems and bring about creative, innovative solutions that will restore our position in the world economy.
I agree with this article, and I bet that Obama would, too. This would be true bi-partisan politics, a wide-brushstroke answer to our current challenges, one that includes different interest groups and gets us all working together.
God bless Barack Obama, the next great President of the United States.

Comment: With regards to Senator Obama???s candidacy: If you owned a company, would you hire someone with absolutely no Executive experience to run it? Would you trust your company to be run by someone with no experience?
I am confused. Has McCain or Clinton run anything? I might have missed it but tell me what they run?
Yes I will give a my company to someone to run who has been able to run a very successful NATIONAL CAMPAIGN. So for all the ignorance you possess yes he is very qualified
Bush run a state and looks where that took us. He run his comanies to the ground but that didnt stop you iodiots from electing, did it?

Obama is the worst of the worst - a first term senator with a lackluster voting record. You are stupid if you think a packaged, manufactured campaign is qualifications to be President, then you belong in Iowa - you're an embarrassment to educated Americans from coast to coast.

RBarker wake up your dreaming see this man for what he truly is a radicle islamist "MUSLIM"
Just say "NOBAMA" in the White House.
Food for thought the last "MUSLIMS" that tried to get into the WHITE HOUSE ended up in a field in Pa.
holyroller2
Your ignorance is astounding! Do you think that anyone was actually going to be persuaded by that tired old lie? You know yougo to hel for lying too.
I like your food for thought. That was good. Thank-you for wishing Senator Clinton luck. I am jumping on the republican bandwagon if she does not get in. He may lack experience but since this is a popularity contest and not one based on ability and skill, I'll vote for the national hero instead. I still feel Hillary would be good for the country. One more food for thought I just ran across this: Obama voted to amend the 5th amendment, Hillary voted no. According to the wording, people who are convicted of certain crimes will be excluded from certain benefits. I guess that would mean people like Roger Clemens if convicted. Also if you're poor, you just got poorer if you used poor judgement.
My bad. Obama voted to amend Title 5 not the Fifth Amendment. Hey I can admit when I'm wrong. I got the wrong five.
Please read this article regarding Obama's faith

I don't think I will be making any decisions reading the stuff on that FREAK SHOW!!
Maybe if you read some more you would be able to come up with some facts that support your position. You evidently don't have any!
Shadoeo1 The voting records are ;isted in the congressional record. Look them up. I am 100% correct.
You must be kidding. You actually read that bias, undocumnted trash. Please learn what the difference is between new reporting and propaganda.
goodmath, how can you suggest we get out of iraq when, as you posted, baghdad has only one hour of electiricy per day. Can you possibly imagine the quagmire that would be left behind by our turn our tail and run method. A president in twenty years would just have to go back and clean up what was left behind as this bush did after the first bush didn't finish in the job during the first Gulf war. As of your comment about president bush saying the Iraqi oil fields would pay for our cost of going there is absolutely wrong. that oil money that comes for the oil fields is meant for rebuilding infrastructure. And i would humbly admit defeat if you could find him saying that the iraqi oil would pay for this war.
As for the deficit. it is identical to previous wars when you look at the percent of GDP, it is true that the deficit is higher than any other time but the dollar is worth less and as the GDP shows our economy has grown a bit. And contrary to popular belief the dollar lowering in value will actually help industry in the united states because other countries will begin to shift their labor forces here due to the cost of doing business in the united states being lower, however our purchasing power will decrease in the world wide market but seeing as how our economy is mostly domestically based.. Excluding oil..., i know hard to believe.. but look at the facts, we have a relatively closed ecomomy so our So called recession, WHich by definition of recessioin is a fall in market price by 10%, which i might add has not occured, so goodatmath, u sir are the one perpetuating the democratic sound bite
CoolCall,
1. If we intend to stay in Iraq until their government is on sound footing and their infrastructure is at least as good as it was before we invaded, you best have the stomach for a minimum of another 20 years. This country is a compilation of various tribes that do not like or trust each other, It is rift with corruption and they have never had a cooperative government in their 2000 years. Actually, I mistyped the comment that the war???s cost would be paid for by Iraqi oil was made by Dick Cheney. Since Bush did not correct this statement I took it then, as now, that it was his administrations position.
2. The money from the Iraqi Oil IS NOT going to the rebuilding of the infrastructure. ALL rebuilding is being paid for by our dollars. The Iraq government has continually failed to release the money needed to begin repairs on roads, utilities etc.
3. The GDP argument doesn???t hold as I quote the Motley Fool ???Before 1995 the Department of Commerce utilized a "fixed weight" measure of GDP, meaning that goods and services were valued in relation to their prices at a fixed, base period. In this way economists hoped to distinguish between nominal GDP, the total rise in expenditures, and real GDP, which attempted to net out the gains in total expenditures that were due to rising prices (inflation). The problem with this measure is that fixed price weights overstate growth in the current period.???
4. A weaker dollar will NOT cause a shift in labor forces hear as the goods now being made over seas are made in countries where a pay scale of $500/month is considered good. I know this since I work with many of these Nationals, who are happy to have contract jobs here in Iraq making that, or less.
5. Webster???s definition of recession is ???A recession is defined to be a period of two quarters of negative GDP growth.??? Since you can not even give an accurate definition of recession I doubt your GDP figures. Please could you reference where you got this.
6. Let me quote Warren Buffet on March 05, 2008. ."We are in a recession,
Apparently CoolCall are the one perpetuating the republican sound bites.
W may not have said that Iraqi oil would pay for the war, but Paul Wolfowitz and the Heritage Foundation (among other top GOP officials) even testified to Congress that it would. The American economy is not as domestic as you claim. Hence all the problems with food and manufacted goods in recent months. Yes the recession is not a fact--yet, but as of 2005 50% of America's wealth is in the hands of 1/5th of the population. What's going on there? I'd have to say the results of 8 years of Republican hegemony.
According to Jeff Mason (SAN ANTONIO, 3/2/08) Senator Barack Hussein Obama has become the confident campaign favorite who is claiming that Senator Hillary Rodham "Clinton is seen as the titleholder who . . . now needs to be knocked out." Texas has a way of making people talk big, and they also have a saying that could be appropriate for Obama,"All hat and no cattle."
After all is said and done, both Hillary and Obama will have to work with the constituents whom, especially Obama, have blasted for making 'wrong decisions". Those were not wrong decisions. To second guess it now is ludicrous. Our country is what it is because we are leaders. We elect those leaders. I expect our leaders to make decisions of delicate matters based on the facts as presented. To lolly gag is not going to protect us. Thats a difference between life and death. You have two children, both are drowning, which one do you save? Because you can only save one.
Many have lost their lives for our freedom. Some of you are voting because of the Iraq war and just because of a Bush/Clinton/Bush democracy in the last 20 years. Iraq happened because of terrorist. We were to send a message not stay indefinitely. The decision to go to war was a sound decision. We lost thousands of loved ones. To stay there was wrong.
Obama finally had a voice and a position to make a difference and change, he did neither. So I would rather vote for someone who I know will keep the wars from coming into our country and my backyard.
The wars are usually on foreign soil. Lets keep it there.
The Israel-Palestan conflict is a nuke time bomb on a mega scale. When it bombs, we all have to disappear with it. A quasi-Muslim President such as Obama may either break the deadlock or ignite it. Are American voters ready entering the political casino and gamble on Obama's CHANGE card? This could be a life-death decision.
In spite of the hatemongering, fear plagued innuendo out there. Sen. Obama is a brilliant agent of change who WILL be the next President of the United States. It is time someone took a stand to protect, undergird and improve the lives and livlihood of all americans, not just the elite. He will continue to compile a team second to none, to turn this system on it's head, and return the America to the superpower it deserves to be! Repeat after me "President Obama". Get used to it!
Keep on dreaming!
I read you last "I wont waste my vote" comment. GOOD we don't want people like you and remember, don't come running back and jump on the bandwagon when what he promises become reality.
You must not have researched the fact that Obama used the same speech as Patrick and hasn't done anything for his state either. Words are just that WORDS. His words have no substance.
That is one bandwagon I will never jump on, unlike you I have a brain that I use for myself and do not follow the Pied Piper off of the cliff!
No, you will just drive you damn bus off the road.
Regardless of all of the back and forth about Iraq, I think Barack is the most sensible candidate when it comes to this issue. Hillary wants to start a phased withdrawal in 60 days, that's ridiculous. McCain wants to be there for at least 10 years, possibly 100 years. That's ridiculous as well. Barak has continually said, though I wonder if anybody is listening, that he wants to be just as responsible about getting out as we were careless getting in. Though he does want to set a time table, he has also said he would consult with military leaders to ensure that the pull out strategy is a responsible one. I am voting for him because I do think Barack will disengage responsibly. Perhaps they all would and this going back and forth is just designed to get the voters all excited about nothing. But in that case, I'll put my money on the one who is more up front and honest about the issues we face and how they plan to address them. I think that is Barack Obama.
Obama has anything but honest. He is a great orator. I was infatuated with him when he became asenator. I just feel he lacks experience. You cannot vote present on issues of concern and flip flop with peoples lives. His loyalty to the United States is questioned, rightfully so. Especially where he refuses to do the American way of respecting our flag and associating himself with controversial people. GW may be America's Greatest Failure but Obama is America's abyss. We have no idea what his real agenda is. McCain is just as flawed and inexperienced yet he respects our country, the flag and Star Spangled banner. His patriotism is not in question. As for the issues, Obama's lack of knowledge to promise results that are unattainable is irresponsible. Healthcare, the economy, education, getting a country to be responsible for thier own democracy, and this fascination with Afghanistan, He cannot flip flop on these issues. If his plan is to surround himself with other people whom he hopes will make him look good then I'm better off voting for the hero. At least I know he is patriotic.
So your telling me that because he chooses not to wear a flag pin he is not loyal to the US. Do you wear a flag pin? And what controverial people are we talking about. I bet you voted for Clinton didn't you. The womanizer, but thats not controversial that's just being a man, right? Give me a break. Don't forget that the Clintons associated with and took a picture with the controversial person your referring too. Jrmapu you are a miserable person aren't you?
Excuse me. The person in question is not contributing to Hillary's campaign. He contributed to Obama's campaign and YES I did vote for Hillary, I do wear a flag pin with an eagle on it, and as for the womanizer, what does that have to do with doing your job? That problem was between a husband and a wife. I'm not as miserable as you are. You must be young, living at home with mommy and daddy supporting you paying for you to have the best. Well let me tell you, people like Hillary is what gave you those choices. And if you're female, people like Hillary have been fighting for your rights. Grow up.
American hands are bathed in Muslim blood after invading Iraq. The only salvation is to elect a Muslim as the U.S. President who will lead Americans to Mecca. Vote for Barack Hussien Obama, or else.
Mr. Obama is a member of the United Church of Christ, as am I, and has never been a Muslim. He has worshipped at Trinity UCC in Chicago for 20 years. Nice try.
Obama does have Muslim roots. Although it was not his choice to attend a Muslim school during his childhood in Indonesia, his genome may have been smoked into a Syphinx under his Christian skin. What if he is a Muslim terminator programmed to win, and licensed to kill? The devil who can really hang US would be a President who can sell voters a sugar-coated rope. So far, Obama's "CHANGE" is as arcane as that induced by global warming or DNA mutation. It is his responsibility to explain why his "CHANGE" is not a bait. If he continues selling his "CHANGE" as an arcane slogan, we have to be vigilant to impose a rational calculus on our voting behavior. The President position is so important to all of us, we cannot take any risk to pull a quasi-Muslim terminator into the Oval Office with pizzazz.
I finally got it You are on drugs, Right?
So basically, you do not want us to believe what a politician says, but in you irrational bigotry, Even though you have no facts to support your beliefs?
Again the definition of genotype is as follows.
1. The genetic makeup of an organism or group of organisms with reference to a single trait, set of traits, or an entire complex of traits.
2. The sum total of genes transmitted from parent to offspring.
None of this has anything to do with the religious or political beliefs some one holds, if it did there would never have been any converts to any new ideas, or religions, And Jesus' followers would have only preached the gospel to Jews, and most of us would have been left out.
Apparently I was not plain enough. Genetic makeup dose not have anything to do with someone???s ideas, religious or political affiliation or loyalties. Apparently you are using word you heard on some right wing Radio or TV show and don???t know their meaning. You are referring to his environmental background, not his genotype. No one has "Muslim" genes. Like so many reactionaries you are spouting off theories using big words, without understanding the definitions, to sound intellectual, but ultimately show how ignorant you are. What if you are the anti-christ trying to get us to vote for the wrong team?
NOW THAT WAS A GREAT RESPONSE.
Muslim is a religion not an origin, you deem wit.
Are you really that arrogant? How dare you tell any American that if they do not believe your narrowminded ill informed opinion, we should leave this country. I will agree the Republicans COULD do the same thing, but in the last 8 years they have chosen not to.
George Bush has brought the econmy down to a point where the dollar is in the worst shape in almost 30 years. He has refused normal diplomatic endeavors and brougt world opinion about us to the lowest level EVER! The number of the working families without insurance is the highest eve, and the national education system is now a sad sad joke. IF YOU really like tis kind of country you are kindly invited to move to North Korea while we endeavor to elect a leader who will do his/her best to rectify the disaster this administration has wrought.
I regret that people are disappointed in Mr. Obama because he is such a great orator. I'm not sure when that became a negative. Anyone who thinks he is all talk and no action or that he doesn't have real answers to the problems that are facing this country, should visit his Web site. Unless you are afraid that you mgiht actually find him to be quite sensible in his views and knowledgable in his approach. He's not muslim, though I'm glad we have freedom of religion in this country. I say that as a Christian. No, he's not naive or inexperienced. Though the Bible says, "and the children shall lead". Which indicates that sometimes even those who are naive, have more insight into how to solve problems than those who are not. And finally, I do not believe there is any validity to the Rezko smear campaign. The Clintons are throwing the "kitchen sink". If they had anything on Rezko, you can believe they would be throwing that as well. It might be worth pointing out that neither Clinton or McCain have clean hands when it comes to political scandals. I think Obama is ahead in this regard, even with all of the inuendo about Rezko. I've certainly had friends in my past who turned out to be something other than I thought they were. I didn't interview them and do criminal background searches before I decided to hold a civil conversation or perhaps go to a dinner that I was invited to. But who knows, perhaps I should have. :-)
Thank you for your comment.
Newsweek is trash. I have never seen so much biased reporting from any publication. Clinton raises $35 million, a top story everywhere, and there is no mention in Newsweek. They're too busy brown nosing for Obama. I apologize for placing this post here, there was no where else to put it. But whom ever you are voting for, all of you should see this bias floating ALL OVER this "news publication." Regardless of who you support, we should all support unbiased reporting so we can be informed by facts, not opinions. Help by letting Newsweek know that we are angry! Cancel your subscriptions.
Big Deal Billary raised $35 Mil, Obama raised $50 Mil. I guess you didn't know that either. Stop whineing and get a clue. Just curious, how did you find out about the $35 Mil. On TV right? Just like everybody else.
In order to have a team, you must have a leader. Who is this one? I'd like to know who is pulling the puppet strings?
Good question. He will need to repay everyone he promised whatever and then our country will be more divided then it already is. Who is Barack Obama? Why doe he want to become president? What is his plan once in office? (His friend Deval is still trying to find his way?) Is Obama patriotic? How much patriotic? I know he doesn't support the United States flag or the Star Spangled banner. Yep the difference between him and John McCain, because they both lack experience to run this country, is that one is war hero and the other votes present on issues that matter.
I agreed your points in this article even though I seldom to care the issues about Politics. Comparing with our country, I think our candidates just take verbal battle but not do anything that could make us get any benefits. This is awful, but hard to change, because they just want "power," not service the nationals!!
Wait, you all forget, he can not bring in any of the "old folks" who he has been talking trash about. He wants the new Washington which means he needs to start from scratch. Most of you Obama supporters feel he is God's gift to the world, well let him prove it. If he gets the nomination, they should all tell him to take a long walk off of a short pier.
Shadoe01, I have followed this election closely and already voted in the primary for someone else. However, apparently, you are one of those people who just can???t stick to the truth. In spite of my preference for another candidate, I have not heard any trash talk for Obama. He never said he would start from scratch, just change the culture of the elite in Washington. If you are not making over $250,000/year, you should be on board with this. I am one of those old white women you think he ignored. (Where the hell did you get that from?) Perhaps you mistook his acknowledgement that demographic was solidly behind Hillary, and his time and money could be better spent elsewhere, or just tried to be misleading. I have talked to a number of his supporters, and none of them are delusional as you seem to be. (God???s gift to the world?) They are just not stupid enough to buy the mud that is being slung his way, and feel he is the best one running. HE IS certainly 100% better than what we have been stuck with for the last 7+ years.
Please read this article from the Chicago Sun Times: Obama's hometown paper
http://www.suntimes.com/news/elections/437415,CST-NWS-obama21.article
Again with the "Conspiracy Sun Times". Are they still looking for Vince Foster's DNA?
For starters, Sen. Obama should solicit Colin Powell's expertise - not properly used by the Bush Administration - as his Secretary of State with Wesley Clark as his Sec of Defense, Hillary Clinton as Sec Health & Human Resources, Mike Huckabee as Sec of Interior, Bloomberg as Sec of Treasury, Condoleeza Rice as Chief of Staff. Sen. Obama is an expert at bipartisanarianism. He needs to get the experts from both sides to establish a hybrid team of experts to make a difference in this nation. He wants change - here's a way to do it!
Nope, he can not do this! Remember, he wants a new Washington so sorry he does not get the experienced players to work with. After all he is "God like" so let him handle it all on his own.
Hey Shadoe01, do you really think ALL of the people supporting him think he is god's gift? What a hateful thing to say. You are so hateful and scared, you would rather stay the damn course then to try and make some sort of change. McCain is the same as the current president and wants to keep us fighting a war that even you know was started by lies. People like you are the main reason we cannot come together as a nation.
I am neither hateful or scared, informed yes. What do you say to the facts that he voted to extend NAFTA, raise credit card rates up to 30%, raise fees and interest rates on student loans, voted two times in 2006 against bring soldiers home, voted for war appropriations, allowed Bush to suspend troop withdrawal. Why would you want a person in office who did not even have the guts to vote half the times he showed up? When the tough get going the weak start a running!
If you are truly informed then you are a liar. He voted AGAINST a bill that would cap the credit card rate at30% because he said it was too HIGH. He voted for military appropriations after the men and women had already been sent to Iraq without the needed supplies. The NAFTA thing is a pisser, but then again everyone who is running voted for that piece of dung.
What are you doing on a newsweek? Shouldn't you be trolling some soap opera site stirring things up.
Sorry I work for a living, don't have time to watch the soap operas like you evidently do!
The socialist card.
* 2007 - On the 28th, Obama said that, as president, he would relax drug sentencing laws and address vast racial inequities in the justice system as part of his crime policy.
* 2007 - Obama, sharing his vision of America as welfare state with the annual meeting of the National Council of La Raza, compared last year???s massive immigration rallies, led by Hispanics, to the civil-rights marches of African-Americans in the 1960???s.
* 1996 - 2000 His political history in Illinois shows that Obama has proven himself to be a nearly perfect Progressive-Democrat.
Obama supports homosexual marriage, racial preferences, gun control, flag-burning, socialized medicine and the absolute right to abortion, including partial-birth abortions. He voted against requiring medical care for aborted fetuses who survive.
Obama [inserted link - VH] opposed the Born Alive Infant Protection Act four times in Illinois. A similar bill passed the U.S. Senate 98-0. The Born Alive bill would have prohibited a baby from being born alive but left to die according to the mother???s wishes.
Obama opposed this bill not once, twice, or three times, but four times.
Obama refused to vote for a bill in the Illinois State Senate that would have increased penalties for drug traffickers.
Obama voted against a bill that would have delivered the death penalty to gang members who murder first responders.
Obama was the only member of the Illinois State Senate to vote against a bill that prohibited early release for sexual predators
Thank you for his voting record.
Except for the gun control thing he sounds dam near perfect. I guess Hillary just lost another supporter.
By the way he voted against the bill that prohibited early release for sexual predators, because it refused to make an exception for those who were sentenced for consensual sex between teenagers.
