Why not Colin Powell for Defense? He knows how we got into this mess and because he was made a stooge by our doofus-in-chief, I say give him another chance to right what went wrong and do things his way.

    • Posted By: reginanation @ 02/26/2008 5:23:20 PM

I think Colon Powell would be a wonder Sec of Defense.

      • Posted By: Shadoe01 @ 02/26/2008 7:06:27 PM

Mr. Obama can not use Colin Powell as he is not one of the new Washington people that he wants. He trashes all the experienced people so now let him find other people to help him and see how far he gets.

Colin Powell lied on WMD at UN. Although he blamed others for feeding him with fake information, he is responsible for his naivety to have taken the bait. Leader rule #1: When there is a problem, it is your problem. Only a fool can be fooled. Never approach a bull from the front, a horse from the rear, or a fool from any direction.

Who starts spreading falsehoods? Why are these people so afraid? Where do they get their info? Don't they ever watch TV? Do they ever read anything other than internet postings? In this day of so much information at our fingertips, I can't understand some of these postings. Obama spent many of his growing up years in the US ( Hawaii). He attended a Catholic school as a child as well as an islamic school when he was very young. His father was African and his mother was American(Kansas). I keep thinking to myself," Surely these people aren't that stupid. Surely they know how to access accurate information. Why do they think these absurd accusations are true? Do they think the media doesn"t know how to research facts and only they and the crazies writing these ridiculous things know the "real" truth? Do they think the entire United States media is so inept as to be unable verify any of these stories? Wake up and think!! There was a story about a US senator or congressman( can't remember which) who was sworn in with a Koran because he IS Muslim and in his faith tradition, that IS his Holy book. Our founding fathers fought and died for the freedom to practice one's religion. This country is big enough and free enough for everyone. That's why I can't figure why some people are so terrified of anything they don't understand. I guess there will always be the ignorant in this world. Vote for whoever you want, but be so gulliable and scared for heavens sake!

It amazes me too Penny. I have been following Barack for 6 years now and all I can say is are these people really this dim OR are they "old mean conseratives" thinking that we will actually say...OH MY GOSH SOMEONE COME SAVE US? I hope they are mean and not really that dim...that's just sad. I feel so fortunant that I can take care of myself. Always have always will!

Yeah, I can tell from your comments how smart you are, just follow the yellow brick road instead of thinking for yourself and getting the facts. He voted to extend NAFTA, voted to increase credit card rates, voted to suspend troop withdrawl , voted to increase rates and fees on student loans among many other things and I am still waiting for loyal followers to explain this to me.

    • Posted By: sick of republicos @ 02/25/2008 11:41:29 PM

I don't think people are ignorant. They are misinformed. Our media is controlled by maybe 5 people who determine what we read, watch on tv or listen to on the radio. If you are not exposed somehow to information outside of the US media you will be misinformed. Critical thinking, even at the university level has been severely compromised. Good night and good luck....

      • Posted By: reginanation @ 02/26/2008 5:48:23 PM

Yes, but the media is saying this stuff is false and people are still like Duhhhh....I thank him's a muzlem. It is so annoying!!!!!!!!!!!!

Here is a truth! When Obama is president we will get our reparations.

    • Posted By: redheaded blue girl @ 02/26/2008 12:03:44 PM

At no time has Barack Obama ever supported 'reparations' of any sort.

Another Clinton/McCain/Rush lie that people are buying. They're scared that the 'black man' will screw over the 'white man' in the wallet. Wrong.

      • Posted By: Shadoe01 @ 02/26/2008 1:44:51 PM

Do you have any idea of what he has ever done or supported? How would you know if he can't even vote! You need to keep drinking your Kool Aid as you are in la la land!

Both John and Hillary have him beaten hands down. Just because he signs his name on a bill does not make it his, sorry!

    • Posted By: sick of republicos @ 02/25/2008 11:57:38 PM

I'd rather send my tax money to you than a bunch of Iraqis.

  • Posted By: rnoldh @ 02/26/2008 3:34:12 AM

All Barack Obama has to do is point out that he was right on Iraq. Just as he did in the debate with Hillary. McCain is attaching himself to GWB on Iraq, which will be an albatross around McCains neck. The American people still have a huge animus against GWB for the unjust war in Iraq that was foisted upon us with lies, manipulations, hype, and Bush's predisposed agenda against Iraq.

    • Posted By: Shadoe01 @ 02/26/2008 2:41:27 PM

BO was not in a position to vote for Iraq or not vote for Iraq, you have no idea what he would have voted had he been given the same information as all the people on the hill. I did not know he was a psychic along with all his other Godly attributes.

      • Posted By: reginanation @ 02/26/2008 5:32:39 PM

The fact is he was right.

        • Posted By: Shadoe01 @ 02/26/2008 6:24:46 PM

It is very easy to be right after the fact. but then hindsight is 20/20. If he would have been able to vote at the time he would have shown up and not voted as usual.

      • Posted By: reginanation @ 02/26/2008 5:30:23 PM

  • Posted By: sonny627 @ 02/26/2008 6:25:18 AM

I pray to God that Obama's change does not mimick Jimmy Carter's. Do you remember double digit inflation 18% home loans, Gas rationing and destruction of our military? Jimmy Carter was undoubtedly the worst president of the last 60 years.

    • Posted By: reginanation @ 02/26/2008 5:33:37 PM

Carter was a wimp and Obama is not.

      • Posted By: Shadoe01 @ 02/26/2008 6:23:28 PM

You call Obama a man! Hillary & John have more your know guts than he does. He shows up and does not vote whenever he is afraid of anything.

  • Posted By: Jrmapu @ 02/26/2008 8:39:15 AM

Wow, this is like putting the cart before the horse. He hasn't won the nomination yet. I remember the Carter administration. He was also a one term president. I suspect Obama would be too. That is poor planning on the democrat part. All glimmer and no substance. Well, the fat lady hasn't sung yet. Then and only then will it be over. I would lose respect for Hillary if she dropped out now. There is still hope AND she still have a chance. Obama has been getting a free ride. One more thing if people really like his xerox speeches, they'll love the xerox results. Hillary won Massachusettes for a reason even though the deck was stacked with the support of the Governor, John Kerry, and the Kennedy's (Caroline and Teddy) for Obama.

    • Posted By: reginanation @ 02/26/2008 5:27:00 PM

  • Posted By: ceriman @ 02/26/2008 4:27:53 PM

The swiftboating begins... Why do some people make up wild haf-truths and outrageous lies about someone they oppose? Perhaps because, for them, the truth is insufficient. Some cannot find enough real problems with Barack Obama, so they resort to half-truths, innuendos, and outrageous lies in their attacks. Would it be too much to ask for them to reconsider their opposition, if the truth holds insufficient reason to oppose him? Probably so, some would rather believe outrageous and malicious lies than the mundane truth.

Yep, it is the people of all faiths, races and incomes. Obama seems to think that only the upper income, college educated people are even worth his time. If you will remember he did not even talk to the senior citizens or white middle aged women until he found out he had a need for their vote.

  • Posted By: yyba1 @ 02/26/2008 11:03:04 AM

First, Obama's leadership as "commander in chief" depends on DOD expertise he must and will choose with wisdom and vision and flexibility to change when and where needed.

The "central organizing principle" of the Presidential election, around which the voter wagons have already circled is the ECONOMY and here Obama is the odds on favorite. Why?

The winner needs far beyond a sound vision well articulated "deliveraables." And the center of gravity here is NOT yet obvious, is the vision of a balance "demand stimulus" and macro "supply side" sustainable jobs creation program(s) and this is Humanomics in general and its NEW economic paradigm the "Integration of Labor-sm" as NEW world class, US led, Global Technologic Infrastructure-GTI, for retrofitting and retraining the US work force to world class 'competitive' standards and this is Obama national "platfom fo change," that is NOT only the winning NEW center of gravity, is the future of America and American families.

I'm the author of Humanomics and its NEW economic paradigm and I've endorsed Senator Obama as has dozens of other US citizens both GOP and democratic.

I'm a US citizen and live in Jerusalem for the past 22 years.

My my, must have hit a nerve since we are into name calling now. I am still waiting for you to come up with some good answers as to why he voted for the things he did and why when the going gets tough he runs for cover. And just to evidently satisfy your curiousity, I do not like Bush/Cheney and never voted for them. As for the name comment, it was just a question and nothing more. This is the first time I have ever seen someone sign like that. Boy, you sure like to read more into things that what they actually are!

Hamilton Jordan consider's Obama's operation the most brilliant political campaign in his lifetime. I don't think it is brillant, but it is effective. It has been used over and over in history, required reading but not a lesson learned. Here is to the One America, the new hope, the unity-civil rights message. Obama was just endorsed by the Great Islam leader Louis Farrakhan. A picture of Obama in Kenyan clothes is found on the internet. Obama's campaign manager David Plouffe accuses Clinton's campaign of "the most shameful, "Offensive Fear-mongering" we've seen from either party in this election." Is Obama saying that being seen with Islam or Muslim people instills fear and panic in American people, and therefore he does NOT want to be associated with these BAD people? Then how does he want us to believe his message of his ability to unite us as ONE America - ???YES we can???. But first we have to start by disassociating ourselves from Muslims and Islamic people (sorry Farrakhan). Shall we also leave out the Klan, because they are hopeless people too? Who are next, the Jews and the Gays? After all, they have always been easy targets for bigotry. Maybe the real message is "let's unify only the people that Obama thinks are "safe" (the good people) in order to keep Americans "SAFE", from the bad people. Will Obama define who the good and bad people are, especially the good ones that will not instill fear in Obama's America? Then how shall we deal with the people that cause Obama and his followers fear? What does Obama suggest? How do we cleanse ourselves of these evil doers?

Now I see Obama's Vision of the future, his new Hope for America, the Change he has been talking about. This Obama movement will end the arguing and movement ever growing; will soon begin the unified march forward.

Remember, it was the media that crowned Bush (that nice guy you can have a beer with) your new president for 8 years... while Gore just got to sit around writing us the warning signs.

History repeats itself, ever so cleverly, the new Trojan horse has arrived, the newly media appointed and new American hero, Obama.

Another silly post by a 'hater". Anyone with half a brain knows WHY the Clinton camp put the pic out, except haters like you. The pic was a hail mary pass to reinforce what idiot say about him being Muslim. And if you are going to try and throw out a comment that the Nation of Islam leader endorsed him YOU ARE AGAIN WRONG. When Farrakhan was asked if he was endorsing Obama he said and i quote "I am NOT endorsing Obama". Get your fact straight if you are going to try and talk smack. Please vote for for the other two people. And btw, the KLAN is YOUR FRIEND. Go out and drink some blood with them.

The Green part has a very important message and until they recieve at least 5% of the popular vote niether party will address these issues seriously. The trouble with Barack is not the calls for change, of us as a country coming together. Those are noble and well articulated. The problem is that no where in his past is there a lot of evidence of him actually doing it. He wasn't part of the gang of 14 that worked out a comprimise on filibustering of judges, he wasn't onboard with the McCain-Kennedy immigration bill, he wasn't part of the Senate FISA comprimise. He worked with Chuck Hagel on a nuclear deproliferation bill, but that isn't exactly controversial. And his programs are not exactly middle-of-the-road - I mean, lifting the FICA cap? Raising corporate tax rates (already higher than many countries - can anyone say "Lets open our new plant in Ireland!)?

He's going to be a 45 year old president with a Democratic Congress and Senate, with both houses being run by 60-70 year old very liberal committee chairman. What exactly is he going to do to get them to agree with him? What leverage will he have? The are going to brush off his comments, send him whatever they desire, and just dare him to veto the stuff.

    • Posted By: gomer212 @ 02/25/2008 7:51:11 PM

I would like to have a President who will be proud or our flag, will face the flag and place his hand over his heart when our national anthem is played. I also want the president to place his hand on the bible when he or she is sworn into office and not on the Koran.

      • Posted By: redheaded blue girl @ 02/26/2008 1:02:33 PM

Obama DID NOT use the Koran when sworn into office. He used the Bible. His own Bible. He is a Christian. As for the Anthem, one is required to STAND for the Anthem, which he always has. One puts one's hand over the heart for a PLEDGE, not the Anthem. It is NOT the same custom. And at an Obama rally, we all stood for singing of God Bless America. You are buying a lot of HOGWASH.

  • Posted By: Jeff Maurer @ 02/26/2008 4:41:50 AM

I agree 100% and believe this is the exact approach Obama should take in developing his cabinet. It would clearly demonstrate with "actions" how he plans to reach across the aisle, working with Democrats, Republicans and Independents. These are all highly respected people who could help him accomplish this objective. Whether it is these three (one might not want to do it) is not important, but that people like this are part of his team. It would be a true "dream team."

    • Posted By: Shadoe01 @ 02/26/2008 12:44:22 PM

He can not take any of the oldies (with the experience) as he wants a new Washington. If he does pick the oldies then he is the biggest hippocrit of all times (which of course we already know he is) because he has stated so many times how he wants new blood in Washington. Let Mr. O figure it all out for himself as he is so smart (YUCK!)

For starters, Sen. Obama should solicit Colin Powell's expertise - not properly used by the Bush Administration - as his Secretary of State with Wesley Clark as his Sec of Defense, Hillary Clinton as Sec Health & Human Resources, Mike Huckabee as Sec of Interior, Bloomberg as Sec of Treasury, Condoleeza Rice as Chief of Staff. Sen. Obama is an expert at bipartisanarianism. He needs to get the experts from both sides to establish a hybrid team of experts to make a difference in this nation. He wants change - here's a way to do it!

  • Posted By: redheaded blue girl @ 02/26/2008 11:57:41 AM

Obama is definitely the right person to lead this country. His intelligence and integrity inspire. His plans are solid, and his ability to communicate is unsurpaseed. John McCain would be like Bush's third term, and we all know how well that has worked out for America. Clinton's increasingly desperate attempts to hurt Obama are easily deflected. Clearly the American people have rejected her old politics. Just as they will reject McCain.
