That sounds like a winning team to me!!! It beats the idea of 100 or 1,000 more years of war!!

Throwing out "Hussein" and "Farrakhan" is typical of commentary that tries to sell race-baiting and attacks on anybody with education and vision as something like patriotism and common sense. McCain is the same guy who will sell out his principles for votes, like he did last election in South Carolina over the Confederate flag. That tells you just about what those many black soldiers fighting and spilling blood in Iraq what kind of Commander-in-Chief he will be. He's the same guy who will use public funding and then try to slither out from under his word. Everybody can sling mud. Somehow it is okay to elect a C student who avoided service and has no clue about foreign policy and few scruples about sending our forces into battle with less than quality equipment, fewer scruples about choosing his aides with ties to business, outing CIA agents and the like and no scruples about undermining our civil liberties.. But it is a problem to have a president with intelligence, service to the community, a commitment to eschewing the kind of high school name calling that passes for debate for so many others, playing down our obvious military power in favor of the more lasting, influential, and absolutely necessary diplomatic power that a true superpower has. Read a book, why don't you. Great nations and empires keep secure and keep control by being smart and working the angles on their enemies. They use the military when they need to make a definitive statement and to take out real rivals. Going for the sword first or with a limited amount of diplomacy is the sign of a failing nation or empire. Good leaders don't have to be soldiers. Look at our founders and see. We are a country that can be led by a Washington, but we also get led by Jeffersons too.

What we need is a candidate who advocates real change: a more sensible foreign policy instead of the aggressive, militaristic approach we are taking now (a policy that is causing much of the world to hate us and will surely cause more and more "blowback"); and a wiser, more sound economic policy instead of the quick fixes and the constant reliance on borrowing that has been going on for decades. That candidate is Ron Paul. Haven't you heard about McCain "the songbird," who made over 30 propaganda films for the Viet Cong denouncing America to avoid being tortured? I've got news for you: America is the biggest rogue nation of them all. Are you aware that America destroys the lives of people all over the world (we have troops stationed in dozens of countries) in order to maintain its gluttonous and greedy lifestyle? We consume almost half of the world's resources and care nothing about who we trample in the process. And if you still think we are living in the land of the free, then you must not have read about the Military Commissions Acts of 2007 -- the power has all been shifted to the Chief Executive. Sounds like a dictatorship to me. And you probably have not read Section 802 of the Patriot Act, which states that "all crime is terrorism" and completely eliminates habeas corpus. But keep enjoying your Starbucks coffee and shutting out the real news.

For nearly 30 years, Louis Farrakhan has marked himself a notable figure on the extremist scene by making hateful statements targeting Jews, whites and homosexuals.

Farrakhan???s bigoted and anti-Semitic rhetoric has included statements calling whites ???blue eyed devils??? and Jews ???bloodsuckers??? that controlled the slave trade, the government, the media and various Black individuals and organizations. In 2006, he blamed Jews and Israel for the war in Iraq, for controlling Hollywood and for promoting what he considers immorality during his February Saviours' Day address in Chicago

I find it mildly amusing that this writer is bragging about helping get Jimmy Carter elected. Carter was probably the worst president of my lifetime. He was completely ineffectual, created the worst economy in decades and left office in utter disgrace. Now decades later, he fashions himself as some type of elder statesman and manages to become an even greater embarassment each time he opens his mouth. Obama wouldn't be much better as his call for change appears as vapid and empty of substance as his political record.

I thought this concept would have been useful for Kerry in 2004, when he was waiting for the convention while the cable networks obsessed over the swiftboat scum. By making semi-appointments leading up to the convention, the Obama campaign could divert the pundits from re-hashing fringe-right attacks to who he just proposed for his cabinet or who he might propose next. This would be a positive version of the way Bush uses terror alerts to drown negative news stories.

1. Don't give in to his play game, 2. talk about where we are now and ways to improve them. 3. talk about all people concerns and not just one class of people. 4. people need help in housing and health care now. 5. set up a web page now, for peple to tell you how, in their state we can help?
