Typical Obama speech: A noun, a verb, and the word "change." <Insert here, whatever the audience wants to hear>

  • Posted By: jp6815 @ 02/26/2008 5:32:19 PM

Men do not want an experienced , intelligent woman of substance in the White House. That is why Obama will be the nominee. The Democrats need a token man in the oval off ice with pen in hand , needing no experience, a man of no substance or original idea , to push forth their agends.

I thought this article eptly pointed out the fine balance of masculine & feminine qualities portrayed by Obama; he has the self-control and calm of a wise old man, but he uses the negotiating tactics of a woman. Sounds to me like he's exploiting the best of both worlds! It's about time politicians altered their approach to negotiations... what we're seeing now is someone who's showing them how.

  • Posted By: kriegermrs @ 02/26/2008 5:25:05 PM

How do any of you know what he is going to change??? He hasn't articulated one modicom of change, and his health plan leaves out significant numbers of Americans ~ so this race is nothing more than a women vs a man ~ and unfortunately, the men in this country will never support a women for president, therefore we will probably end up with another inexperienced guy who thinks he's all that and a bag of chips because he speaks English very well. Obama offers nothing new or unique to this race, except the color of his skin, and to this voter that means nothing.

being president is like being an officer in the military...it really has to do with ones leadership abilities and strength in influencing others...experience is minute...if experience is the key then GWB should be awesome after his 7 yrs in the white house.

I do not believe obama supporters are the ones trying to destroy the other canidate it seems like its been the other way around...but I will vote dem no matter what bc I recognize what the true threat is, 4 more years of bush/Cheney policies

Look on your keyboard. There's a key on the far left....no, no, your other left, that says 'Tab'. Right below this key is one called 'Caps Lock'. Please press this key immediately. It does wonders.

      • Posted By: theLogicalOne @ 02/26/2008 3:52:09 PM

Thank you Johnsonium! To tell the truth, I've stopped reading the ALL CAPS posts long ago.

        • Posted By: jaimehlers @ 02/26/2008 5:12:19 PM

If someone chooses to write in all caps, I choose not to read what they say. It's not worth the headache I would get.

Let us all be at peace in knowing that Slick Willy and Venomous Hillary will not be on the ballot this summer !!!!!
Sen. Barack Obama the next President of these United States !!!!

Oh, Linsky, that's "just silly", if I may quote Obama.

Just want to tell you that if Obama becomes President then our America will be in crisis soon. I strongly beleive Obama hides something from us, he knows what to do pulling our American people ! Sinsiter! Hope Hillary to be President! I notice Obama's action llooks like conciet and bragging!

  • Posted By: PT-Alamo @ 02/26/2008 4:39:28 PM

I'm pretty sure Toni Morrison's New Yorker article was 1998 not 1988 unless he had a crystal ball?

    • Posted By: luvinit @ 02/26/2008 5:05:41 PM

i believe toni morrison is female unless he/she had a sex change

  • Posted By: Karlene58 @ 02/26/2008 5:05:40 PM

I want Hillary to be President because Hillary is highly qualified more than Obama!! I strongly beleive many American people who don't knw Obama but why they vote for him. that doesn't make sense to vote for him as president. that's dangerous if they keep voting for Obama so they will regret. If Obama becomes President so our America will be messed up. I strongly beleive about it!

  • Posted By: DoveSong @ 02/26/2008 5:04:52 PM

I like Obama, but I prefer him characterized as a man. I see the parallel and stereotype ( woman are more sensitive than men, better with children..etc) but sexism aside. A good man is one who is understanding, courageous, and balanced. This Obama supporter does not agree with this analogy. However, I would love to see Barak with a woman VP.

  • Posted By: lafit @ 02/26/2008 2:29:29 PM

WHAT IS HAPPENING THAT EVERYBODY IS BLIND?

OBAMA IS TWISTING EVERYTHING ABOUT MS. CLINTON.

YOU SHOULD BE ASHAMED TO BELIEVE HIM.

    HE IS A BRAINWASHER.

AMERICAN PEOPLE WERE CONSIDERED AS AVERY SMART PEOPLE.

WHAT IS GOING ON THAT YOU DO NOT SEE CLEAR ABOUT HIM?

    • Posted By: Johnsonium @ 02/26/2008 3:23:18 PM

Are you mentally challenged, or is English your second language? Anyone who uses all-caps already loses the argument. Learn to express yourself effectively and without shouting and maybe you might change someone's mind. Meanwhile, the rest of us with an IQ above 60 will be voting for Obama.

      • Posted By: betson01 @ 02/26/2008 5:01:24 PM

Oh, more word twisting by an Obama supporter... I was once elated with the choices of this campaign and felt regardless who won the nomination it would be exciting, but now I am just "dissed." Disappointed. Disgusted. Dismayed. Disconcerted. Obama supporters have tried to corner the market on the words "hope," and "change," but so many of these same supporters are mean-spirited and ultimately destructive. Why can you not support Obama without trying to destroy Clinton or make those who support her out to be uneducated? I have a Master's degree and I earn over 80k a year. I have an IQ 165. I am well-read and I know enough history to always be a bit uneasy of "prophets" and the mass adoration of their followers. He has been well-funded and his campaign staff is very slick--He is also a master at doublespeak and the ability to take words and twist them and every which way. Scary just a bit.

    What a load of crock!!

Bill Clinton was not the first African-American President, and Obama would surely not be the first woman President.

What does he know about being a woman?

    • Posted By: Johnsonium @ 02/26/2008 3:21:45 PM

As much as you know about redundancy. Posting nonsense twice doesn't improve its veracity.

      • Posted By: predictable12 @ 02/26/2008 4:56:49 PM

Get back to work Johnsonium, or do you work?

  • Posted By: predictable12 @ 02/26/2008 2:32:49 PM

    What a load of crock!!!

Bill Clinton was not the 1st black President, nor would Obama be the 1st female President.

What does Obama know about being a woman? One thing he would know, is that he wouldn't have made it this far based on his brief resume.

It's like buying a new product versus a proven one solely on the exciting advertising.

    • Posted By: Johnsonium @ 02/26/2008 3:20:31 PM

Obama is out womaning Hillary. That's the point of the article. He's taken female strengths and turned them to his advantage. It's an interesting analysis.

      • Posted By: predictable12 @ 02/26/2008 4:56:01 PM

Do you wear the same smoke screen perfume as the 1st Female President Obama? Cheap smell.

  • Posted By: jackdevore @ 02/26/2008 3:47:27 PM

I think this is the "most absurd comment"......Obama is the choice for "white male".....who is against any woman, experienced, and ready to take on the real challenges of the world. As a WOMAN, I take deep offense at your comment that he has the values of women. He is a young, uninformed person that is hiding behind anything he can hide behind. As a professional woman who served 38 years in the work-force with the white male; I know first hand how they think. I hope that women everywhere will stand up and face the continuous fact that men are ready to "choose anyone" rather than a qualified woman

    • Posted By: Johnsonium @ 02/26/2008 3:56:03 PM

We'd choose a qualified woman, if there were one running. Hillary's issues are three-fold. #1. Personality. She's not likable and comes off shrill. #2. Her waffling on key issues to pander to whatever crowd she wanted to impress. Example: flag burning amendment #3. Baggage. She's got a lot of baggage to overcome.

      • Posted By: hillaryforpresident!!! @ 02/26/2008 4:56:00 PM

Right, and we would vote for a qualified male (black or white) if there was one running.

So far we have #1: Obama: He is running on likability and celebrity appeal instead of diving deep into the issues. In addition, he doesn't have enough experience and is not ready to take on the REAL issues we are facing.

#2: McCain: He is another war nazi and while he has voted with democrats on some issues, he doesn't even support a woman's basic right to choose what she wants to do with her own body.

#3: (If he counts) Huckabee: He stated in a press conference, "I want to change the constitution to make it more in-line with the bible." LOL, enough said.

Since men have screwed this system up for so long why don't we let a woman in there? One that stands for REAL change and is willing to work hard to get us there!!!

    • Posted By: predictable12 @ 02/26/2008 4:51:32 PM

Completely agree - however, I think that the majority of white males will end up voting for the last white male standing.

Of course, this article was written by a male.

      Thank you jackdevore!... Exactly...!

  • Posted By: reginanation @ 02/26/2008 4:55:14 PM

I love the way you guys blame the NYT and Newsweek for reporting the news. KILL THE MESSANGER. Supporters of the current administration are the delusional ones thinking you can scream about somehting else long enough and we will all just blindly forget the facts and agree. This is not church and you can leave our judgement in gods hands. Now I realize it has been that way for the past 7 years but listen...hear that...the sound of footsteps. WERE TAKING OUR COUNTRY BACK! baROCKthevote08!

  • Posted By: milkshake @ 02/26/2008 2:50:40 PM

and if we do have a woman president another jfk inccodent will "accidently" happen im pretty sure almost 100%

    • Posted By: jaimehlers @ 02/26/2008 4:48:55 PM

And I'm almost 100% sure that it won't happen. Quit trying to bring rank sexism into this. I respect Hillary Clinton even though I don't agree with her, and even though her campaign has made several mistakes which it hasn't even admitted.
