I shall try again. Hillary Clinton your time has come and gone. Being first Lady should not equate to experience because you were married to the President. You were never elected as Co President and should not have been functioning in that capacity.
The majority of the American people do not want Hillary Clinton as President. I am a white woman and I can honestly say that all the white woment that I have discussed this matter with, have no resdpect for the fact that she did not "kick him to the curb" because of her own ambitions. sorry Hillary, Bil was carismatic and eloquent , you are not. I would truly love to see a woman President, and granted, I believe that you are intelligent, I also believe that yor are less that genuine.l\\

aw fasher. i can see from all your spelling errors that you are one intelligent person. (Sarcasm intended.) There are many women who decide to salvage their marriage, after a spouse's betrayal. If every woman "kicked him to the curb" after a sexual betrayal, there would only be a few marriages left intact in the entire nation. Even my husband says his gender embarrases him! If this country truly wanted to keep the "sanctity" of marriage intact, they would outlaw adultery, not same sex unions. The non-argument here is so transparent.

Here is a suggested topic for Newsweeks next article, "Bias press sways election. Ethics in journalism questioned". To an extent I can understand the press bias when it comes to Republican versus Democrat. But to have such an obvious bias within the Democratic party is extremely unethical. The press has swayed the public opinion towards Obama, and that is a tragedy.

    • Posted By: bugs @ 02/26/2008 8:22:47 PM

I agree with you the news media has already elected Obama so I guess they feel that the public might as well stay home from the electrions. That is an abuse of power on the part of the press. Give us fair and impartial reporting that is what you are supposed to do.

      • Posted By: ritz17 @ 02/27/2008 12:33:17 AM

Actually, the media is simply reflecting what is going on. Hillary and her husband are digging their own graves and they are so nasty and angry, because they brought a sense of entitlement to the table. Well, it's fair game out there in the political scene and I have to say, Barack Obama has held up his part by being a firm Uniter and staying away above the frey, while the Clintons want to turn everything into a bloody battlefield. They are Republicans in disguise, and not a very good one at that. They are practically best friends with McCain and the Bushes. Do your research on the CLINTONS for a change. All you Clinton hangers on.

The author of this article is a Republican political operative from Massachusetts. Like other GOP Obamabots, he is hoping Obama wins the Dem nomination so the GOP can win again in November.
Shame on Newsweek for running this misogynist diatribe - and from Marty Linsky, a failed MAssachusetts GOP wannabe.
Vote for Hillary 'cause she scares the Republicans!

I think the debates tonight were entertaining in the fact that Obama continues to use rhetoric that never focuses on the issues. It's amazing to me how many times he uses Clinton'sj ideas in most of the debates to attempt to ask the questions. The media surely is bias in their approach agains Clinton. It's almost that so many people are jumping on the bandwagon of the media's ploy to paint a picture that Obama is the next president. Shame on MSNBC for it's biased coverage against Clinton.

Barack Obama demonstrated in tonight's debate that he is capable and qualified to be our next Commander in Chief. He is the uniter that this country has been waiting for. OBAMA2008.

This article only divides the gender gap to a more wider state. Make an intelligent statement -- not one that is littered with psychobabble of gender assumptions. Let's get past biological differences and focus on the minds of individuals.

Good greaf, I will match your "smart" with mine anytime. You need to go to fact check. Obama is a liar

      • Posted By: ritz17 @ 02/27/2008 12:19:35 AM

Obama is genuine and sincere and he is a Uniter. He will unite the people and open our eyes. The Clintons stand for greed and old world politics. They have so many skeletons in the clost, it would leave even YOUR head spinning. Wake up.

When are you (Newsweek) going to call everybody to vote for Obama? Don't waste more time!

Just what we need another Bush in McCain's Clothing! He will stand for himself against all the pack of Washington. No more dictator's in the Presidency. It is everyone's responsibility to run the government.
Vote for a miracle, vote Huckabee!

How can Obama embrace new ways when being influenced and sponsors by Ted Kennedy, John Kerry and Chris Dobb? Obama will be a puppet like G. W. was to Cheney and Rove. Hillary has a mind of her own, but no man wants to hear about it. Men do not like strong women. Men do not want anyone out there that appears smarter than they are. And now that I have said that. I will refer to Andrian who says her husband told her not to vote for Hillary because Hillary is probably moody like she is.. so Andrian will vote according to her bushand's wishes. So what we have here is..men don't like women and women don't like women.. But what we mostly have here are people without thoughts of their own. Not me I'm an independent thinker.. I do not need to go with the crowd.

It's called reaching out across all lines, including young & the old, all colors, all religions and all party lines. This is the only way to make this country and the world a better place. Stop being so selfish and single-minded. You're not the center of the universe.

Oprah Winfrey, beginning January 1, 2008, on her daily radio program will offer a year-long course on the New Age Christ , in a lesson a day and completely cover the 365 lessons from the Cour se in Miracles "Workbook."

Listeners will be encouraged to buy A Course in Miracles for the year-long course, and an audio version, recited by Richard (John Boy Walton) Thomas will be available on compact disc.

Those who finish the Course will have a wholly redefined spiritual mindset-a New Age worldview that include the beliefs that there is no sin, no evil, no devil. A Course in Miracles teaches its students to rethink everything they believe about God and life, and, bluntly states: "This is a course in mind training" and is dedicated to "thought reversal."

The Course in Miracles -in reality-is the truth of the Bible turned upside down.
1This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.
2For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,
3Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good,
    4Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;
5Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.
It's not surprising at all that Oprah Winfrey is supporting Barak Obama!!!
    Christians.. ...Take heed!!
And PLEASE pass this one on.....if you never forward anything else

BUGS: Dear Racist, Ultra-right wing extremist: Please stop spreading your hate and lies and go back and study your ancient history and learn about all the religions of the world. The one you claim to be an expert on, was far from the first. and was changed and adapted many times to fit the needs of the Priest or ministers who ruled in those times. Do not blindly believe something just because someone in a Black or White Robe tells you this is so. Are you aware how many times the Bible has been re-written and translated? Don't judge what you don't understand, just because someone told you so.

How dare Newsweek print such a misogynist article? Newsweeks dares because they want Obama to be the nominee; the author, Martin Linsky, dares because HE is a Republican political operative trying to sway the Democratic nomination to ensure that the GOP keeps the White House.
I am from Massachusetts and I can remember ineffective Marty Linsky's failed forays into politics. Shame on you Newsweek, shame on you.

What a shallow and idiotic article. The face absurdity of it might distract some from the deeper stupidity nestled in it, though. Barack Obama is not female, Bill Clinton has never been the slightest bit black, and bending reality to shape a reporter's idea of how limited we should be by our misogyny is almost criminal. Please shut up or write about real issues.

  • Posted By: BlueinPrague @ 02/26/2008 11:31:16 PM

This article is so offensive to women. No female candidate including Hillary would have the male hubris to run as a 46 year old first term senator. Add to this that a female candidate for president could never have two school age children and be free to face the rigors of such a campaign. Obama has never faced the challenges that working mothers face and to suggest that he is somehow female makes me sure that the author of this article can not possibly be a mother. Ok just checked. I was right it's a man. Toni Morrison could say that about Pres. Clinton because she is a powerful black voice but Martin Linsky has no right to speak for women. Newsweek should be ashamed. And to Obama supporters - be more respectful with your comments, not so much here in Newsweek but in some liberal blogs Obama supporters can sound downright mysogynistic. If their candidate does win the nomination they may need the 54% of the electorate that is actually (not in Martin's imagination) female. No Democratic candidate can win without high female voter turnout. R*E*S*P*E*C*T - don't wait till November to find out what it means to me!

Sen. Obama is certainly good at building relationships; whether you want to call that a traditionally female attribute or not it is certainly working for him. He is about to hit the milestone of having 1 million donors to his campaign. Help him get there by going to www.barackobama.com.

  • Posted By: Medge @ 02/26/2008 10:46:35 PM

I am not sure I agree with the idea of "first woman president" as a label for Senator Obama; however, I agree that he follows a philosophy of inclusiveness, optimism, honesty and sincerity. However, these are not qualities and values exclusively of femeninity, they are also of humane, consciencious and collaborative people regardless of gender. Seeing from this point of view, they woould fit Senator Obama very well.
On the other hand the qualities of "traditional (and male) authoritaarian approach" attributed to Senator Clinton are more reasonable. Her authoritarianism is reflected in her disrespectful attitude of Mr. Obama.
When she mocks his speech style and uses inflamatory phrases like"shame on you, Barack Obama" --
like a domineering mother scolding a child, --when she accused him of underhanded campaign tacticss.

Barack Obama is without doubt a utopian realist. He is not afraid to dream about what the world ought to be, but at the same time his feet seem firmly planted on the ground. He understands the reality of the obstacles placed before him, but will not let the pessimism of realism hamper agency and his attempts to get around/over/under those obstacles.
