we fool ourselves when we speak of success in Iraq, when the intensity of the insurgent action is at the whim of the Shiite cleric Sadr.He is biding his time because he knows that we cannot sustain our presence because it is proving to be costly. We send money to Iraq to help build the country but the Government knows exactly where this money is going into the very hands of Sadr.It is the same policy that we have adopted in Afgahnistan,we try to buy the favor of the war lords until it is expedient for them to take our money and then kill us.
Two hundred years from now our decendents will admonish us by saying what silly little men we were

Why anyone expects a war to go well is beyond me. Violence is the first resort of the ignorant. Bush's naivete and arrogance in starting this war went unchecked by a cowed congress and public. His minions listened only to supporters and "retired" the generals who had a clue about warfare and its aftermath. We will suffer a long time for his mistakes. McCain is just another victim. We need a president who is on our side for a change.

The world has a right to fear us,and hate us because when you listen to our diatribe its all about war...we talk of peace but only in a context were it is to our benefit..starting in 1899 we have been at war in some part of the world for every decade of the 20th century and we have started the 21 st century with war and talking of more war against Iran.Yet still we claim to have Christian beliefs which has become farsical and we wonder why other countries want to possess nukes. We are the only country in the world to have used this terrible weapon on another country,we demonise others as justification for invasion,we claim to be getting rid of a despotic dictator and killing terrorist but we all know that we tolerated Saddam and even supplied him with the weapons that he needed when he was our "friend" until he invaded Kuwait. It is all about expediency. This has been our cornerstone for diplomacy. If Darfur had oil we would have been there long ago,but then we may not because the Chinese are already there and we don`t want to pick a fight with one of the big boys in his neighbourhood.....or is it they own us and we need permission after all GWB had to borrow money from them to wage our little war after he squandered the surplus that Clinton left for him...Dick should have stepped in and lend the Republicans money from the billions that was given to halliburton

Michael Kinsley (LA Times op-ed Sunday 2/24) would have said to your relative:
"You might have several words to describe this situation, but success would not be one of them."
Obvious good points including more troops after the surge than before still in Iraq! Today's polls show McCain leading Dems in credibility and experience--yikes I remember when Nixon said he had a secret plan to get us out of Vietnam during his first election campaign, and the majority BELIEVED HIM! How far we have NOT come.

McCain is wrong about the US winning in Iraq.
There is no winning, because there is no goalpost.
We have done what we can do, we have not lost.
McCain will lose in November if he keeps up the war, war, war talk.
People are sick of it. Let's elect a Democrat and turn the page.

All this garbage talk of the U.S pulling out from Iraq, should be stopped. The Unitrd States, under the presidency of the almighty George Bush, invaded Iraq by fabricating allegations of possessing weapons of mass destruction, which we all know to be non-existent. There was massive destruction to the infrastructure of this soverign nation, with ten of thousands of lives needlessly lost & consequently total choas in the attempt to transform country's political status. The world was silent & in agreement as this all unfolded, there was no one to stop G.W. from abusing his presidential powers & misusing the admirable military supremacy of the U.S.A. In all fairness, the U.S. must rebuild the country & restore an environment where people can go about their lives without fear. Here is the bottom line, G.W. has opened a can of worms that will haunt his nation for many decades to come. Finally, if anyone thinks that this rookie politican Obama, has the ability to change things for the better, then think again, not even in office yet he is already prepared to further abuse presidential powers when he said that he will send ground troops into Pakistan in search of Bin Laden, with or without permission.

Ho...hum another anti-McCain piece juxtaposed with an "Obama saves" piece. Good job

That's right you silly columnist....we're blase, self satisfied, conservative men of the world here. Why are yo wasting our time with logical trains of thought, and information?

THIS DEBATE WAS NO DRAW. OBAMA CLEARLy WON THIS DEBATE. IT ACTUALLy WAS A LOT LIKE THE SATURDAy NIGHT LIVE SKIT. OBAMA GAVE TREMENDOUS ANWERS TO NUMEROUS QUESTIONS. HILLARy WAS COMpLAINING AND CUT OFF By COMMERICIAL BREAKS AND TIMMy RUSSERT. TIMMIy IS FUNNy GUy . HE MADE ME LAUGH THROUGHOUT THE DEBATE.
HILLARy AppEARED WEAK ON NAFTA AND THE IRAQ WAR. OBAMA GAVE TREMENDOUS ANSWERS TO THESE ISSUES AND STOLE THE FOREIGN pOLICy ISSUE FROM HER.

THE QUESTION CONCERNING HILLARy'S TAXES WAS THE TURNING pOINT FOR ME BECAUSE IT WILL SHOW THAT A LARGE pORTION OF THE MONEy THEy RECIEVED WAS FINANCED By INTERESTS IN DUBAI AND OTHER ARAB FINANCIERS. THIS IS A FACT,
SHE CLEARLy WAS UNCOMFORTABLE WITH THE TAX ISSUE AND HAD A HARD TIME GIVING A STRAIGHT ANSWER.

HILLARy'S MAIN pOINT IN THE DEBATE WAS THAT SHE WAS A FIGHTER. WHAT HAppENED,
OBAMA TURNED IT AROUND ON HER By pOINTING OUT THAT SHE FOUGHT WITH FACTIONS WITHIN HER OWN pARTy AND EXCLUDED pEOpLE LIKE BRADLEy FROM THE DISCUSSION ON HEALTH CARE. HE pROVED THAT HILLARy'S FIGHTING ATTITUDE WILL NOT GET BILLS THROUGH BOTH HOUSES.

    "Catapult the Propaganda ...."

McCain has been brainwashed by "W" it looks like! How many more can McCain fool by November?

We are in Orwellian Times, just "Catapult the Propaganda ...." as Bush said.

Do I feel safe after September 11, 2001? Has President Bush shown leadership that makes our country safe?

President Bush botched up Katrina and made another Viet Nam out of Iraq. As Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak predicted, President Bush produced 100 new bin Ladens.

In invading Iraq and attacking its mosques, Bush has assaulted the holiest shrines of Islam. That error resulted from President Bush's ignorance of other cultures. Since Islam is the state religion of huge numbers of followers in many parts of the world, Bush now confronts those followers willing to die in what they conceive to be a defense of their faith.

If Bush had diverted a fraction of the cost of killing those people to understanding and improving their economically-backward nations, it's clear where we in the West would be today: on a forward-looking path to a peaceful future.

I do not feel safe after September 11, 2001, but maybe President Bush thinks I do. In a speech in 2005 about Social Security, Bush seemed to think making me believe him would only take repetitive exercise, kind of like, shall we say, athletics?

"See, in my line of work you got to keep repeating things over and over and over again for the truth to sink in," he said, "to kind of catapult the propaganda."

    "Catapult the propaganda ...."

It looks as if McCain ate the bait! 1,000 more years. Now he wants you to believe his propaganda, 8 more years will get you 1,000!
