I doubt very much that the government would make reference to the existance of top secret anything via BADGES. Why would anybody sworn to secrecy want to advertise the fact on their jacket? "Yes, I know something covert, but I can't tell you." It just doesn't make sense.

It is funny that they have an academic, from outside of the military and the government write about its "culture". He is making a book about some patches that joes made up about some shared experince they had that an outsider would never understand. The best research he could do is jog and do some push ups, go to his recruiter, go to war (there is one going on) and earn one of his own patches. That would have saved him all that research.

Sorry, not only would those in the Black Ops not talk about their duties but, let's say they did, they would NOT talk to anyone they did not trust with their lives. Secondly, anyone they trusted to the point of talking would know better than to devulge ANYTHING exposed or revealed!

I'm in the military and I have one that says "Staff Duty Ranger".... doesn't mean its a real patch.... but I ought to try and send it to this guy to see what kinda story he can write about it. I saw similar patches at a fair the other year. It's a shame what some people will do to make money from other people's lack of knowledge, when there are so many other things that need attention.
