Comment: THE TRUTH OF THE MATTER IS THAT CLIMATE CHANGE IS VERY REAL. I TRIED TO DENY IT BUT WHEN YOU HAVE AL SHARPTON MAKING COMMERCIALS WITH PAT ROBERTSON AND NEWT GINGRINCH DOING COMMERCIALS WITH ANNCY PELOSI ALL FOR THIS-THEN THAT'S A LOUD AND CLEAR SIGNAL. Go to www.dakshidin.com for the environment uptick on other energy source(mainly air and wind-I saw on Glen Beck about the air powered car-HOPE SO!)and www.greenglobeint.com for the companies that specialize in tourism and traveling in the most green way because traveling is very, very much a pollutant as people discard and tarvel more frivilous than when they are home.

Comment: I find it disheartening that the reduction of one's carbon footprint is being regarded as a temporary Lenten sacrifice. Shouldn't this life change be a an ongoing commitment? The caption "Some choose to give up worldly harm for Lent" implies that it is somehow okay for Christians (in this context) to engage in "worldy harm" for the rest of thie year.

Comment: In Genesis we recieve what is often termed the "cultural mandate" - before the fall of mankind we are told to "fill the earth and subdue it", that word "subdue" could also be translated as "cultivate"... this premise and understanding of our mandate to cultivate the earth is the wonderful work of all humans. And Christians should be at the fore-front of this effort since the creation itself knows that it it is to be cared for properly by those that profess to be Christ followers for Paul's tells us in letter to the Romans, "The creation waits in eager expectation for the sons and daughters of God to be revealed." (Romans 8:19)

    Comment: To Bobwil:

Perhaps it is Tepid, but it is better than nothing: We should be mindful what the Lord tells us in Matthew 7:1 "Judge not one another, lest we be judged" and the Scene in Luke 8:7 where the Lord told the Pharisee "Let he who is blameless, cast the first stone"

If this "green" pledge lasts only during lent, then it is what you say, but if they continue on then it is something more. We should be im prayer for better things, and celebrate when thay happer, not be judgmental and combative, the combative negativity is what has tripped the green movement in the first place,

Comment: In Genesis, God gave man the responsibility to care for the earth He had given us. We are to be stewards of God's creation and we have done a pretty bad job of that.. Loving God meands we should show respect for the gifts He gives us, including our world and its natural resources.

Comment: This shouldn't be a Lent-only observance. Showing respect and caring for God's creation is the moral obligation of Christians every day. This "green" movement is a paltry and tepid effort. Too little, too late. Frankly, I'm appalled at all the people who call themselves Christians but have been wantonly abusing God's creation all their lives. Hypocrisy at its best.

      Comment: Bobwil:
Perhaps it is tepid, but it is better than nothing. Remember the passage of scripture which Christ command no to Judge, lest we be judged (Matthew 7:1). Also the other passage where Christ told the pharisee "He who is blameless may cast the first stone (John 8:7) If they continue to do green things after Lent, then progress has been made.
