Documenting One Vet's Struggle
The challenge of getting "Body of War" into the theaters is not political, says Donahue: it's economic. "You can't waterboard a theater owner for being afraid of this because he's seen the empty seats," says Donahue. Movies about the Iraq War are box-office flops. He hopes this one is different enough that it can break through what he calls Iraq War fatigue.
Tomas doesn't want people to feel sorry for the guy in the wheelchair. He wants to make a statement. He wants people to know that war is about more than making speeches on the Senate floor.

Comment: My husband was severely injured in Iraq in 2005. Although I am sorry that this man was injured, I find it incredibly disrespectful to his fellow soldiers to become an anti-war protester. Anyone who enlisted after 9/11 had to know what he/she was getting into. They would have to be incredibly naive not to. Movies and soldiers like this make other wounded soldiers look bad.

Comment: I am glad that Phil Donahue is making an effort to show the impact of the war on our country. Regardless of our politics, we should take some time on this fifth year anniversary to remember those that were wounded and died as result of this war and appreciate documentaries like this.
I stumbled on this website http://www.leadingtowar.com, and it is really quite amazing. Two film producers took network footage from the past five years and created this massive chronology of the steps that lead us to where we are right now. If you want a straight forward look at what really happened throughout the past five years, I recommend you start here.
