Comment: But what about MI and FL voters being HEARD. What about Hillary screaming about revotes in those states. According to her, the voters don't matter. Not just super, but ANY delegate can vote for whoever they want. The voters really don't have any say in the matter.

So why is she screaming about disenfranchised voters? She herself is trying to make sure those voters are not heard.

Comment: HRC's campaign HAS already started trying to poach those delegates, despite their promises that they weren't/aren't! They did it prior to the recent Iowa county caucuses as outlined right here at Newsweek: http://www.blog.newsweek.com/blogs/stumper/archive/2008/03/14/the-battle-for-iowa-continues.aspx
Now they're going after them in Texas prior to this weekend's caucuses there: http://ruralvotes.com/thefield/?p=935 To add insult to injury, it's been via robocalls in both states.

Comment: I don't really understand how delegates are apportioned. It's very confusing. I have a little better sense of how electoral votes are determined and that there are 538 of them with 270 needed to win the presidency. It may be worth contemplating this hypothetical: If we were counting electoral votes in the 27 states (and D.C) that Obama has won and the 16 states that Clinton has won as of today (when 8 states representing 73 electoral votes are still up for grabs), Clinton would be leading 263 to 202. If you subtract Florida and Michigan from her column, she is still up 219 to 202; and if you evenly split the 44 votes from those two states between the two candidates, she remains ahead 241 to 224 ... By the way, I might not want the nomination if I was either of them unless some agreement is made to fully enfranchise the voters of Florida and Michigan before accepting it. Personally, I believe it would be fair to count Florida according to the vote that already occurred there. I also think it???s reasonable to expect that state to stay Republican in any case in the fall. In Michigan, however, the most recent polls have Clinton and Obama evenly dividing a new primary vote in that state, a place that has voted Democratic by consistently dwindling margins in the last 4 presidential elections and where polls currently give McCain a slight lead over either Clinton or Obama. I believe it is likely that the Democrats will lose the general election if they fail to hold Michigan's 17 electoral votes. If that happens, there will be one reason for it: a backlash against disenfranchisement that McCain will successfully exploit as a symbol of unfairness and division with the assistance of Michigan favorite son Mitt Romney as his running mate.

Comment: Grassroots1: Your comment is really foolish. Black and young people are not the only ones who support Sen. Obama. In case you haven't noticed from living in Clinton's fake reality, HE has more of the popular vote. If Cinton steals this nomination, I, and many other Obama supporters, will do everything possible to tip the election away from her, this year and any other year that she attempts to run. Don't let the Clinton's fake reality fool you..

Comment: Hillary is so low down, which is a waste of evil because she still won't win. I don't know why she is blaming Obama for preventing the re-votes in FL & MI and why the media is colluding in this travesty. Why haven't any of the REAL decision makers been questioned about why they decided to proceed with the date, even while knowing the consequences in advance. Who were those decision makers? I'm sure someone knows. Call the Governors and the Senators of the states for a start. I'm sure Obama didn't pick the dates so stop blaming him. If she doesn't have the guts to seek out those responsible she needs to STFU.

Comment: If the Obama campaign is pretending to take the high road as the "will of the voters," then they can't reverse that road by doing everything in their power to keep Florida and Michigan votes from being counted. The Party decides on the nominee and the voters are really helping the Party make that decision. No party is obligated to nominate a person who has proven to be rife with scandals and whose numbers in the national polls are falling at an alarming rate. The Obama campaign has tried to make it look morally "bad" to let the delegates decide who is the candidate most likely to win. The delegates would be shirking their purpose if the just blindly voted for whoever won rather than looking at the race at the point when they cast their vote and making the best decision for the party. Obama can't win this election against McCain and Clinton has a good chance of winning. her supporters are loyal to her while Obama's are the new young voters who rarely show up on election day and African Americans who comprise only 14% of the population.

Comment: The whole notion of pledged delegates is to bring a sound and reasoned thought process to the nomination process and prevent the candidate with the greatest $$$ from necessarily winning the election. The greatest amount of $$$, can mean subversive influences. However, Barak Obama claims he will create change and by directly undermining existing structures with his subversive behavior of the residents of Florida and Michigan, he carves a hole into democracy and the Democratic Party. All in the name of personal gain and power! It begs the question if the Democratic Party can afford to lose the American people and the Presidential election due to Obama's campaign effort to win at all costs.

Comment: Hillary is trying to hear the voice of the people! She wants ALL of the citizens of Michigan and Florida to be heard. Revote now!!!!

  • Posted By: vitaespasione @ 03/20/2008 8:45:44 AM

Comment: I find it extremely amusing that Hillary is attempting to take the "voice of the people" away from them by suggesting that delegates turn on their represented. Isn't she the one railing Obama for not "supporting the voice of the people" in Florida and Michigan? If they have a revote in those states and Obama wins, I'm sure she'll try to corrupt those delegates into voting for her too. Her campaign has questioned Obamas patriotism and leadership and dedication to democracy and she's the one trying to take away the voice of the people. But, wait, not "the people" in general, just the ones intelligent enough to see past her whining.

Comment: The superdelagates were created for such an occasion, to decide on their own merit...not to go with the flock. The chosen ones are to have some higher insight to the political realm. Yeah, yeah/ Seriously, they should get to choose whom they deem worthy as a presidential contender, otherwise they should have just increased the number of delegates each state is granted.

Comment: The revelation that Obama was a member of the Black Klan for twenty years had damaged Obama among
white working class voters to a devastating degree. Even at these early stages McCain has opened up a six point edge (Rasmussen). The only serious change Democrats have is to go with Clinton.

Comment: Clinton is the best thing to happen to the Republican Party since they stole the election in 2000. Thanks to Clinton, Democrats will clearly see that there is very little difference in November and will either sit out or vote for McCain. Only the befuddled and inept Democrat party can steal defeat from the jaws of a likely victory!

You know, voting for Nader would almost make more sense to me at this point.

Comment: Most of Obama's delegates have come through the fraudulent caucus process-- as proven here in Texas. The voice of the people chose Clinton by 100,000 votes, yet in the mysterious caucus process he wins 56% to 44%. How can that be. Because it is not a democratic process. Not one person, one vote. It is mob rule. And yes, MSNBC, Chris Matthews and Keith Olberman are a complete joke. Their over the top bias has disgusted to the point where I can not vote for Obama. I use to enjoy listening to Matthews, but now I can't believe anything that comes out of his mouth, even if it has nothing to do with the election. I will not watch him again. If the dems make the mistake of putting up Obama, they have doomed themselves again. I am independent and wanted a candidate who would get us out of the war, but I cannot trust a candidate who had such a tight friendship with such an anti-american person as Wright. Not gonna happen, I am prejudiced against race, but I am prejudiced against people who promote hate-- in the name of God no less. Sort of like the 9/11 hijackers did their deeds in the name of God.

Comment: HERE IN TEXAS, an estimated 96,000 Republican voters crossed to vote Hillary. The Repub election official at my voting site was urging any & all to vote for Hillary because the Republican nominee was already decided and HIllary would be easier to beat come Nov. Rush Limbaugh also did his vote for Hillary campaign to keep her in the race & divide the Dems even more.

      • Posted By: Blue Heron @ 03/19/2008 07:30:18

Comment: In Colorado people were allowed to cross party lines and vote. Many Republicans came out and voted for Obama. That is what happens in caucuses. Also, as a delegate I witnessed first hand Obama people not allowing Hillary's people to be seated as alternate delegates. Why, it was like a mob and they were not going to back down; so, . . . . Why would anyone vote for Obama? Oh, that is right he is our hope for the future. Mobs rule.

  • Posted By: jp6815 @ 03/18/2008 8:31:20 AM

Comment: I strongly believe that the democratic party should get rid of super delegates and in facts we should get rid of delegates, conventions, electoral college and caucus. Have one primary vote in each state , covering republicans and Democrats. The field narrowed , one of each by popular vote , then on to November and receive the President by popular vote. All this bickering and trying to get the better of another candidate and not having peoples votes count is unconstitutional.

There is no university course or on the job training that can prepare you to be the president. You must be prepared to lead. No president calls all the shots. That's why they surround themselves with (supposedly) wise people that can help them make the tough decisions. The foreign policy failures of the past can be directly attributed to the former presidents AND their administrations. Ask our good friends the neo-conservatives about that. You can have all kinds of experience, but if it is the wrong experience, coupled with poor judgment that can directly be traced and audited to billions of dollars wasted and almost 4,000 lives lost (3,988 is the count as of this morning), then.......

We are supposed to be a nation under the rule of law and fairness. The leadership of Michigan and Florida chose to hold their primaries in defiance of the rules set up by the Democratic party. They disenfranchised themselves, but for the bloodlust of the Clintons, we must find some way to bend the rules to accommodate them.     Comment: Dear jonstorm;

whoever you are, I applaud you and admire your thought trend, because I have myself been thinking along same lines. I was beginning to worry that no one has raised this issue prior to your raising it today. I have myself been of exact sentiment since BHO mockery of HRC a week or two ago. He somehow did not sound like the unite(r) that he is trying to portray himself to be. A unite(r) would have and should have left the door open in the best interest of the party and the country. BHO is intent on dividing the country and that is what he has done so far. He would have gotten away with it too if Wright Water had not come out. Now people will see him for who is really is and not who he wants them to think he is. He did not distance himself from this church because he was the one who stood to benefit from the message of hate the most. Black Churches are using that hateful message to drive ignorant blacks, -who profess to be educated- to the polls. I myself am black but truly disappointed, how we are allowing ourselves to be used by the likes of him. I sincerely hope that people begin to wonder how come, for how long and how often, that message has resonated in his church and why prior to last week, he did not distance himself from it or change churches. The church should be used to teach LOVE, FORGIVENESS and KINDNESS. Not to spread the message of hate.

    • Posted By: jandon @ 03/17/2008 17:35:26

      Comment: Dear JTCD:

I am appalled and truly feel shame as a fellow Black person regarding your comments. How on earth can you say that Obama is intent on dividing the country when his message, even since the historic speech at the Democratic convention convention has consistently been about uniting the country across all the barriers we as a nation have erected among ourselves? How can you infer "who he really is" from something his ex-pastor said? Sounds very much like the same stereotyping we as a people have endured for generations. (THere are violent black people in your neighborhood, you live around them every day, you are black, so you therefore you are a violent black person. Fallacy) Take the man on the face of what he says for himself, not on what some else said. This is the first time in our history in this country that we have been as close to the presidency, with a real chance. But I see that the old, fearful, self-hating legacy of the crab in the barrel still exists among us. Even in 2008, we can't stand to see another Black person rise out of the barrel. We must join the cacophony of voices that from the extreme right and the extreme left that says Obama, you are inexperieced, unfit, unready to lead this nation (Read, Negro, you ain't qualified). As I black male growing up in the 50s and 60s, I heard that crap all my life. This time, I see one of us with the education, qualifications, and most of all the VISION to lead us and I intended to support him with all I've got. There are slaves sleeping in their graves, people who struggled in the Civil Rights era, who are pulling for this man. Old people like my 84 year old Dad marvel at how a black man can carry a state where we were lynched 50 or 60 years ago. This is our moment, this is our time, to lead and bring healing to the tattered spirit of this nation we love. Open your eyes to see the dream King had is about to come to fruition. Obama has never preached hate. Guilt by association? I think not. Don't hide behind an indictment of the church and skirt tails of a woman who has no real skin or blood in our game. Massa and Missy want the game to continue like it was back in the 90s. That time is over, the future is now, and black, white, Hispanic, young, old, rich, poor, educated and un-educated are rising up to support an extraordinary young man. Join us.

Comment: Massa and Missy want the game to continue like it was back in the 90s. What a racist comment. Talk about living in the past. You lose the argument when you use words like these. As for Obama not preaching hate, do we listen to the same speeches? I am not hiding behind the skirt tails of a woman (you are a misogynist as well) who has "no real skin or blood in our game." That makes my skin crawl. If it weren't for people like Hillary, the Civil Rights Movement wouldn't be where it is today. Oh, I know, women have to wait their turn. Stay in the kitchen, that is where they belong. Move into the 21st Century!

Comment: You know as i sit here reading what I trully believe to be nonsense. I hope that there will come a day when all americans, republicans and democrats, whites and blacks, greens and reds, will finally open there stuborn eyes and realize that in the end "the dirt all tastes the same." If you cant understand this phrase then you have no business voting or supporting any candidate. Don't do my children or the rest of the children in the world any favors by casting your vote. If you believe a person can only be be measured on there experience at something then you need a refresher course in history. Many great people have led great expeditions with little if any experience in this nations past and have done just fine for America and americans. Christopher Columbus being just one person. With no experience at sailing across a vast ocean this man discovered what would become a great nation. He did so because he put all his love and heart into what he believed. Just as Abraham Lincoln did. We need to find the candidate that is trully putting his/her love and heart into America and whats best for Americans. Afterall america was a dream that became a reality with alot of inexpereienced people at the helm of a great ship and we sailed just fine even when the winds stopped blowing. Together as a people we found new ways to propel ourselves. Together as a nation we will find a way to help even the least experienced of captains onto the proper course. As long as we remember the struggles of our past they will serve as beacons to our future. So dont cast aside a person with no "experience". If we used this mentality in everything we did we'd have no one standing on the mound in any major league ball park. Find the one person truly giving it his all and speaking from the heart and listen to that person and see if what they are saying and believing is right for americans and America. Base your decision on that and that alone not from which side of the fence its coming from. As a great nation we can propel any candidate into greatness for AMERICA and its citizens.

This should be a harbinger for who is best fit to serve our country. Case in point: Senator Clinton will try anything and everything to change the rules in the middle of the game and devastate the domocratic party for her own, selfish gain. While Senator Obama, despite starting out as the under-dog; despite having less-name recognition; despite playing fair and following the rules of the DNC, is still ahead in delegate count as well as the popular votes compared to Hillary Clinton. Comment: To All Obama Supporters

During the last 2 elections we were asked to vote for a man with no experience or qualifications who promised to be a "uniter not a divider." What we got is the most incompetent and divisive adminstration in history.

Dispite the fact that Mr. Obama has won mostly Red States which McCain will carry in the general election and leads in popular vote and delegates only because the voters in Florida and Michigan have been disenfranchised, he has already dismissed the idea of joining Mrs. Clinton on the ticket which would guarantee the Democrats a victory in November. Are these the words and actions of of a uniter, a man who cares more about solving this nation's problems than his own political career?

I am not saying that Mrs. Clinton is not a politician. I am saying that Mr. Obama is a politician as well and all this talk of a movement is in fact a political campaign directed at the generation of kids that grew up watching Bob the Builder. Bob the Builder. Bob the Builder, Can he fix it? "YES HE CAN." Sound familiar?

Best of Luck to you in all of your endeavors. I do appreciate the sentiment behind the Obama campaign but America can not afford a mistake right now and don't worry, the voters in all the states that matter have decided. "We won't make one. " I hope that when the delegates from Florida and Michigan are seated and when Mrs. Clinton recieves the nomination you will support her with the same enthusiam that you now reserve for Mr. Obama.

HOWEVER, of her 85 pledged delegates only 60 showed up to support her and even Edwards had about as many delegates and he's dropped out. In our county where Obama had tied with Edwards, now he has 19 delegates Hillary has 15 and Edwards has 12 moving on to the District Convention in April. She could lose even more there if she doesn't pay attention. And I hope she doesn't.

Comment: BARACK'S Ties to the Trinity Church: Barack has a dual problem here. He needs to distance himself from the Church, particulary, Pastor Wright, without alienating the balck vote. This is the problem. people like
Wright, and Farahkan speak out in blind rage over the past. The politics of racial devision and hate crimes are still fresh in their minds. When Barack moved to Chicago in 1985 to work in the Afican-American community, he did so, as a community organizer working through church groups and the like. He reached out to people like Reverend Wright in an effort to empathize with the youth and the unemployed, to get
leverage, and win trust in the community. Not having this base of influrence and empathy would have rendered his efforts meaningless and futile. The message of unity and broad -based appeal is not easy to
establish. All sides of the racial divide must be heard. This is neither painless, nor is it easy as well. America must hear this dialog from the likes of Wright. Despite his venomous ditrabes, Wright has been highly influential nationally, as well as in his South side Chicago church. Obama was not immune to the hatred of his mixed race, his background and his name. Th renounce all the church has done for him, his family, and his movement is foolish and hipocritical, to say the least. I think it is naive to think that America
would suddenly grow-up and embrace a man of color without some growing pains. How can we, as a
people move beyond the sins of the past: slavery, discrimination and hatred, without a sounding board
in 2008. This is why this discourse is healthy. Why does Fahrakan think the way he does? Why does
Reverand Wright espouse such divisive rhetoric? Why did we think as Americans, that we would not come
face-to-face with this issue. Change is a difficult thing. Change with a cause is even more difficult. But the
country and the American people are better than to let mere words divide us. We are the UNITED STATES
OF AMERICA. Let's show the world we can unite again to solve our problems, not create new ones.....

Comment: The Democratic National Commitee has rules. Florida and Michigan violate the DNC rules. The DNC punishes Florida and Michigan. Now Florida and Michigan want their delegates seated at the democratic convention. The DNC should not flip flop on issue; but, stick to their guns.

The problem is that we are dealing with liberals. Liberals believe rules are ok for others; but, should not apply to liberals ( problem #1).

The DNC head Howard Dean should demonstrate leadership and stick to the rules, not cave in.

Problem here is he is a democrat (refer to problem#1).

I should have remained an independent voter and not switched to democrat this year at the urging of democrats wanting me at caucus.

I thought my vote for Obama would count--now I just don't know.

Hillary Clinton and her dirty trick team wants to steal delegates for Obama anyway she can. Hillary will even resort to using the race card. Hillary wants to get bigot vote. Hillary was for blacks only when it served her purpose. Running against a part black man and losing is to much for her ego.

Hillary is showing her real self---- a real sleazeball.

Hillary Clinton is all about Hillary Clinton.

Hillary Clinton is exposing the bigot vote in the states and will show the bigotry among the super delegates.

The DNC should neutralize Florida and Michigan by spliting delegate vote evenly.

I applaude House leader Pelosi, she is true leader of her party.

Comment: Obama stands behind his pastor
    March 15, 2008
How does Obama consider someone a Mentor and friend for 20 years and not know their hateful racist values and character? Obama said he had no plans to leave the South Side church. Wright is like an uncle you love and respect ! he highly respects the opinions of Rev. Wright said Obama, who brings hope to many and agrees with giving the man of year award to the notorious Louis Farrakhan. Nation of Islam Minister who said we are witnessing the phenomenal rise of a man of color in a country that has persecuted us! Obama hasn't distanced himself from Farraklhan as he wants the media to believe. A number of Jewish and pro-Israel voters have concerns and raised questions about Barack Obama. In case you haven't followed this ongoing issue, here's a brief summary of the complaints:Obama has called for engaging Iran. Daniel Ayalon, Israel's former ambassador to the United States, told the New York Sun he is concerned Obama would want to negotiate with a "Hitler-like" regime. Some of Obama's policy advisors of various stripes, such as Samantha Power, Robert Malley, and Zbigniew Brzezinski, have come under attack for their views on Israel. World Jewish Congress President Ronald Lauder fears, it's only a matter of time before the president becomes anti-Israel Howard Friedman, the president of the American Israel Public Affairs Committee, said the leading presidential candidate are all interested in continuing close ties with Israel. Obama in traditional muslim garb brought these questions back to the fore Obama is a closet Muslim. Obama hasn't distanced himself from Farraklhan as he wants the media to believe, Obamas and his church said Farrakhan "epitomized greatness. For Americans, Farrakhan epitomizes racism, particularly in the form of anti-Semitism. Over the years, he has compiled an awesome record of offensive statements, even denigrating the Holocaust by falsely attributing it to Jewish cooperation with Hitler "They helped him get the Third Reich on the road." His history is a rancid stew of lies. Any praise of Farrakhan heightens the prestige of the leader of the Nation of Islam. His anti-Semitism and particularly his false insistence that Jews have played an inordinate role in victimizing African Americans. Farrakhan's dream has vilified whites and singled out Jews to blame for crimes large and small. He talks of Jewish conspiracies to set a media line for the whole nation. He has reviled Jews in a manner that brings Hitler to mind. And yet Obama and Rev Wright heaped praise on Farrakhan. He applauds his "depth of analysis when it comes to the racial ills of this nation." He praised "his integrity and honesty." He called him "an unforgettable force, a catalyst for change and a religious leader who is sincere about his faith and his purpose." These words of the black man who touts change and claims to be a uniter of all people? DO NOT VOTE FOR OBAM

Barack says he was never in the church when these words were spoken, even if that was true, lease he was your spiritual mentor for 20+years and you did not know what he was really p
