Girls Will Be Girls. Or Not.
But surely part of the reason is that, historically, women who stray have suffered more than men who do. Men are often forgiven more easily—their dalliances are considered a lapse, an uncontrollable urge. Gunnbjorg Lavoll, a psychiatrist at Northwestern University's Feinberg School of Medicine, says the assumption that men will be "naughty" is built into phrases like "boys will be boys." "Do you hear 'girls will be girls'?" asks Lavoll. "No. The social consequences for women are much harsher. What kind of woman would abandon her children?"
When Edwina Currie, a British politician, disclosed a four-year affair with her Conservative colleague John Major in her 2002 "Diaries," she was roundly condemned. (Major said his wife knew and had forgiven him.) A newspaper poll showed 88 percent disapproved of her decision to reveal the affair—and while only a third thought worse of him, half thought worse of her. So perhaps women are just being smart by avoiding, or concealing, illicit or abundant sexual activity. A harem of young soldiers might not be a huge advantage when it comes to Election Day.

Comment: Think of it this way. Are all or most of the men who cheat gay or are they sleeping with women. Since most affairs happen with people the cheater already knows it is probably safe to say that the woman "knows" he is married and is just as culpable as he is. So before everyone whips out their "Blame-thrower" and lays into the opposite sex they should take a good hard look at the actions of their own sex.
Also, it should be noted that some of the more inflamatory comments come from such biased opinions as the "feminist author" mentioned above. Unfortunately many feminists feel that the best way to makea woman look good is to simply make men look bad. I am not trying to insult any feminists out there, I am merely suggesting that they should look at the work they are doing and ask themselves "am I cutting off someone elses head to make myself look taller?".

Comment: A very bad comment which is giving excuses for foolish women. Since when has cheating become the correct thing to do now that women are doing this more than ever. No one is on the mans side when he cheats. No one says that the wife wasn't doing her job and thats why he cheated. This is why women are cheating more than ever and now the women school teachers are going with boys. They now that they are going to get away with it. We are always focused on the bad that men do and punish them nore severely while the women are doing the same nonsense. Women now that people will give them all kinds of excuses for why they did what they did. What kind of example is this showing young girls? The american woman today have less morals than ever and they are getting worst. They need to start acting more like women and our society needs to stop spoiling them. Every time they do something like this I just wait to hear what was the excuse this time for either cheating or having sex with a 15 year old boy. Marriage will have its ups and downs. It doesn't mean go out and cheat. How do you think the husband feels knowing his wife is with another man and then on top of that he gets blaimed for his wifes stupidity. This is insane and I just don't know how people can say its okay for women to do this. Its takes a lot of mental strength to keep a martiage going. If you feel that you can't hadle it then don't get married. Don't push the men into marrying you. I get tired of all the male bashing songs, books, magazines, and talkshows always making men as always the cheaters and never wanting to commit. Then when things aren't 100% perfect in the marriage the women want to cheat and then blame the men. Don't forget about aids. Aids and stds don't care about women. Also getting pregnant by another man. The husband takes a test and it shows he isn't the father but then he still has to pay child support due to these radical feminist laws that are against men. I will never get married. I'm a young guy that doesn't believe in cheating period. The american woman have become very foolish. I see too many females and not enough women. Women have morals and females just have the female parts. A website that warns men about marriage is www.dont-marry.com. Read the part about women cheating and how they are always seen as the victim. The realtionship with men and women are getting worst and isn't going to get any better.
