Comment: To deemac and squints read up and get your facts straight!!! Dumb democrats never do anything but listen to what they hear on the TV news shows. Spoon fed like robots you are. Here's the facts: you read them and fact check what I'm sending you, then keep pointing the finger, but not at Bush or his administration. Your own party did this to this nation, and it started with Clinton. -
New York Times - Five Years Ago
I thought all of you may be interested in the following article reported in the New York Times five years ago. You won't hear this from the liberal media ! It seems that the Bush administration proposed increased oversight and regulation of Fannie and Freddie, but Democrats fought it.

    Here's the article:

"The Bush administration today recommended the most significant regulatory overhaul in the housing finance industry since the savings and loan crisis a decade ago. Under the plan, disclosed at a Congressional hearing today, a new agency would be created within the Treasury Department to assume supervision of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, the government-sponsored companies that are the two largest players in the mortgage lending industry.

The new agency would have the authority, which now rests with Congress, to set one of the two capital-reserve requirements for the companies. It would exercise authority over any new lines of business. And it would determine whether the two are adequately managing the risks of their ballooning portfolios."

Democrats pushed back. "Among the groups denouncing the proposal today were the National Association of Home Builders and Congressional Democrats who fear that tighter regulation of the companies could sharply reduce their commitment to financing low-income and affordable housing".

"These two entities, Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, are not facing any kind of financial crisis", said Barney Frank of Massachusetts, the ranking Democrat on the Financial Services Committee. "The more people exaggerate these problems, the more pressure there is on these companies, the less we will see in terms of affordable housing."

Representative Melvin L. Watt, Democrat of North Carolina, agreed. "I don't see much other than a shell game going on here, moving something from one agency to another and in the process weakening the bargaining power of poorer families and their ability to get affordable housing," Mr. Watt said.

Please forward this to all on your list - and especially Independents and Democrats !!!

Comment: You talk all the time about how Obama will change things. He is a complete idiot. Biden is a fine man that would be great in the White House. If the ticket read Biden/Palin I would vote for it because I am not a Republican or a Democrat. I am an American. I want what''s best for our country. Not just to see "my party" win. Obama has lied from day one about his faith and upbringing. He said he grew up in poverty(lie), He was roomates in college under the name Barry, but after a trip to the middle east with his 2 muslim roomates he began to call himself Barack. These same 2 roomates are tops in his campaign. One of his major contributors is a well know real estate mogul in Chicago that has been charged with numerous felonies. Don't vote for this man just to see a black man in office. It is not suppossed to be like that. Vot for who will take care of this country. Mccain may not be a dream President, but he is better than having a Muslim in office. I have met many Muslims that I respect, but considering what is going on in the Middle East we can't afford to elect so nobody that just came up on the scene, liar to lead our country. This is going to blow up in everyone's face if he is elected.

Comment: well go girl, if the only reason you are voting for McCain is because he has a women running for him. You are just a sorry person. If you don't care about health, the economy, all of those soldiers overseas fighting and dying for this country then like i said you are just sorry. Maybe you and Palin can walk hand in hand across the bridge going to nowhere.

Comment: Sandy im sorry...but, anyone that would vote based on gender or race alone needs to stay home on election day...This is about issues and problems facing this county that bush screwed...get over it and move on..gender doesn't matter...biden raised his kids on his own and obama lost his father...but, no one talks about that like they do palin...everyone has problems and issues...all men and women were created equal should be treated equal.

Comment: I am and have been a stanch democrat. However, this election I am voting for the McCain/Palin ticket. The democratic party has done a major disservice to all the women of America. Why they didn't let Hilary run and win the election, then let Obama run for the office in four year is beyond me. Women have had to fight hard for their moment in the sun just as has other minorities. Today I say let a woman serve in the office of the Vice President. Sandy

DO YOU WANT 4 MORE YEARS? We cannot afford it! I know Hillary will be part of Obama cabinet, I have no doubt! I need HEALTH INUSRANCE, i need to KEEP MY HOME! wE NEED oBAMA, WAKE UP aMERICA!

Comment: This is an example of the total sellout by the media for BO. Any journalist with any common sense would have outted this fraud. But the MSM acted like schoolgirls with a crush and allowed this wimp to fool all of you. Liberalism is a mental disease when information is controlled and not allowed to see the light of day. BO will lose because too many dems are having buyers remorse and it could be a sad day for dems. Where's Hillary?

Comment: IMPORTANT BULLETIN FOR ALL BLOGGERS ON THIS SITE:

    TO NEWSWEEK STAFF:

This is to report that there is a FRAUD going on, on this site, in which bloggers are using the names of various bloggers (Obama supporters are most likely the culprits) who are fraudulently writing blogs that are deplorable and tagging them under other bloggers names (non-Obama supporters names). I officially reported such a fraudulent abusive use of fake postings that I just viewed on this site today that affected me personally. This is what it said in which the blogger fraudulently used my name as the poster:

IT SAID THIS. I NEVER WROTE THIS. SO ALL OTHER POSTERS, ESPECIALLY FORMER HILLARY SUPPORTERS, BEWARE:

I NEVER wrote the above comment or ANY mention of Obama being a Messiah. At this point I am ready to bring this abusive process that you are using on your site to FOX NEWS as I have done this before and they are very responsive. I have copied this report to send onto the media if I dont see a stop to the smearing of my name or others on this site moving forward!

It has the same meaning as a hug or a kiss. Let us not start to find every conceivable thing that this couple does as some sinister plot to destry this country's image in the eyes of the world. Neither she nor her husband is dangerous they are just normal people who find themselves in an extraordinary place in an extraordinary time.

Comment: Response to Mew Esha: I ask this question respectfully: What country are you from? Kenya? Indonesia? Other? I say this cuz you do not even know as of today who was on the democratic ticket running against Obama? To fill you in, Hillary Clinton and John Edwards are both not on the Presidential ticket anymore. So yeah, that is the case. But when it comes to Mr. John McCain he is another horse running in this race on the Republican ticket . I can tell that you are very passionate about Mr. Obama and Im sure all other political challengers appreciate your endorsement of Barack Obama, but there are still other candidates in the race that are challenging Mr. Obama, mainly as the Republican Candidate, John McCain. I am not at a point to endorse or vote for either candidate until I find more info out abot either candidate. But I do appreciate your comments that you have posted on this Newsweek board,. : - ).

Comment: I think Barack Obama got the vote. He going win. He's got so caught up in this race, which is a good thing, thats going take him to the top.If he has faith in god, his self, and the people, he's going make it. He doesn't need to worry about the other people in the race like Clinton, and McCain, and Edwards. All he needs to do is to run his race. Like a.... Horse running its race. Trying to get to the finish line first. And I as one of the many people that believes in him, I do too. :-) And I hope he wins, Its time for a change of progress. :-)

Comment: I am so sick of hearing people say that Hillary Clinton is tearing the Democratic Party apart. I think that job has already been fulfilled by Obama. Only a self???absorbed person with a mammoth ego would declare his candidacy for the most important job on earth after serving only one year in the senate. He was also probably banking on the fact that many Americans would not take the time to do their homework and could be schmoozed by smooth talk and charisma. Those same qualities are the one???s that have allowed crooked tele???evangelist to milk millions out of people???s pockets and why so many people overpay for clunkers from a used car lot. Clinton was in the race first and if Obama really truly cared about the Democratic party and his country, he would have first, worked hard in the Senate to: first prove himself as an effective leader in the legislature and to the people of Illinois; second, he would have campaigned vigorously for Senator Clinton to take her historic candidacy all the way to the White House, and then a few years down the road, he could thrown his hat into the ring to become the first African American president. Right now, his impatience, selfishness, and ginormous ego will indeed cost the Democratic Party the claim to the first female president, followed by the first African American president.
    PS
Is there anyone out there who can give five concrete and substantive reasons, based on his record, and without using the intangible words ???inspiration or uniter, why Obama is qualified to be the leader of the free world?

Comment: I was living in Chicago when Obama ran for U.S. Senate, and I voted for him. Obama has portrayed that election as "hard-faught" and "close." It was, until his Repuplican opponent, who was strongly favored to win, was removed by his own GOP because of a sex scandal. Obama ran against Alan Keyes, a windbag who lives in Maryland, and rented an apartment in IL when the GOP could find no one else to run. He wasn't a resident, wasn't taken seriously, made outlandish statements (mostly his interpretations of the Bible), and still captured over 30% of the vote. If I had known about "Rev." Wright,, the Black Pledge/Black Liberation Theology, or that Obama had no record to speak of in eight years as an IL State Senator -- he never authored one significant bill, and had more involvement becoming wealthy working side-by-side with the largest slumlord (Tony Rezco) in Chicago than with the people's business -- I never would have cast my vote for him. He has barely gotten his feet wet as a U.S. Senator, and all I see is Chicago-style politics: graft, lying, and a drunken need for power. Seems Obama will morph into anything and anyone (notice how his accent changes in differnt parts of the country, anyone?) to get elected. When this race began, only John Edwards, then Hillary Clinton had explicit, coherent, policy proposals for dealing with this nation's crises -- the ones that affect ALL of us. Now Hillary is left; she is articulate, her husband, contrary to press reports, WAS a great president, and besides, he isn't running -- she is. SHEdidn't just start out on the national scene; she was a community organizer, she seems to be in this because she is truly passionate about making a positive difference, and she is far less polarizing than Barry, sorry, Barack Obama will always be.

How sad that this country is in love with it's new wunderkid because of his ethnic origins (and I'm a minority, not a bigot), and the media is going right along with all of it. Jim Jones was charismatic, too, from what I understand.

Comment: The fact that Reverand Wright set civil rights back 60 years is one thing with his racist ranting and ravings. But look at the facts. He cannot beat John McCain. The polls all show that. I am stupified that these hardliners continued support of Senator Barry Barrack Hussein Obama. He is not qualified to be a president. There is such a morbid curiousity in so many american minds that they were blind to George Bush's first four years and voted him in for another four years. What did it get us? It got us a mess that it will take decades to fix. Once again America, wake up!!!!!!!!!! This is your brain and this is your brain on drugs thinking he is best fit for the presidency. If what you have seen so far does not open your brain, stay home and don't vote. He will bring Armegadon to Israel. I've always had this nightmare of the need one day that we would be speaking Arabic or Chinese if there are not some serious changes regarding our position in the world. Don't waste a primary vote. This nomination will go to the convention uncertain of who will be the candidate and yes the superdelagtes will pick the nominee and yes it will be Hillary Clinton. It is clear that she and only she can defeat McCain. Don't tempt fate. Our party will colapse otherwise. I have seen more viale roll out of democrats mouths to cover all the red areas in the country. Please people, come out of your stupor and get it right. I think the right time will come for Sen Obama. I't definately not now.

Comment: It's only a name but it does show that he had political aspirations for a long time. It is funny though that after changing from Barry to Barack he did not also think to change Hussein to ANYTHING! He is after all all about change. What worries me more is the lack of change in his political speeches and the lack of substance in his political platitudes.

The fact that when he went to college he began to ask people to call him Barack is no different than my good friend deciding that she didn't want to be called Jenny anymore when she went to college and started having people call her Jennifer so she could feel more grown up.

Comment: Why can't we just discuss what the article is about. I think it is very enheartening to see Mr. Obama's family in pictures-it's an American story, full of people from all walks of life contributing to a common experience. In a very real sense, Mr. Obama's successes are successes for us all, and when we see his multi-ethnic heritage and upbringing, I'd like to think we are seeing America as it should be.

Comment: Most men, as they grow up drop their nick names. As far as Barack is concerned, he didn't CHANGE his name, he just started using it as it was given to him. I can't see why he is charged with "trashing" his grandmother, he was just telling it like it was back in the days that were influenced by racism, the KKK with their idiocy and the people that couldn't see that we are all "CREATED EQUAL".
Being a white woman in my sixties, I just can't let myself vote for Hillary just because she's a woman. I will not vote for someone who calls an out and out lie a "misstatement", whose memory is questionable.

Obama is god's will being done.

Comment: Forget religion, skin color, or personality. It's time to grow up! We need a president with the proven ability to lead. Obama -- come back after you've actually done something instead of just talking a good game. Even JFK (to whom Obama has been compared) was a certified war hero and a leader of great merit. We live in a world where a billion crazy people want to see us dead and our way of life destroyed! The forces of anti-civilization can only be kept at bay (and eventually calmed down) by a strong and courageous America led by a President of character, intellect, compassion...and experience. Not one who is still trying to "find himself." The only valid choice is between Clinton or McCain. Obama is simply not ready to sit in the big chair...not by a long shot. To believe otherwise is a triumph of celebrity over substance and if that's the point to which we have sunk in our political process...then we deserve what we get. But I'm not ready to give up just yet.

    • Posted By: Tane @ 03/31/2008 4:52:36 AM

Comment: So, proven experience equals the ability to lead this country? I suppose the experience of Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld... is a shining example of that. And all the experience of our Senators and Congressmen that led them to make the judgment to ratify the Bush administration's authority to begin a preemptive strike against a country that had not struck us? Did they show how well they had learned their lesson from 5 years in Iraq to then go on to vote to essentially authorize impending war in Iran? I think I'd rather trust Obama's Judgment, as he opposed the Iraq war and has introduced legislation to stop the Administration from using the Iran Resolution to begin yet another war in Iran. Hillary and McCain voted for the Iran Resolution... I would expect that from McCain: Bomb bomb bomb Iran, but I would have hoped that Hillary would have learned from the Iraq Resolution that this Administration is hoodwinking us when it purports these resolutions are just to increase diplomacy and sanctions.

Aside from that, since he has had more legislative experience (12 years total) than most of our past Presidents, aside from JFK who had 14 years of experience, I'd say that experience has not been the criteria for many of our leaders.

      Legislative Experience:
Abraham Lincoln spent 8 years in state legislature and 2 years in Congress for a total of 10 years.
Theodore Roosevelt spent 2 years as Governor of New York before becoming Vice President in 1900 and stepping up as President in 1901 after McKinley died.
Woodrow Wilson spent 2 years as Governor of Jew Jersey before winning the election for Presidency in 1912.
Harry Truman spent 10 years in the US Senate for a total of 10 years legislative experience.
John F. Kennedy spent 6 years in Congress and 8 years in the Senate for a total of 14 years.
Jimmy Carter spent 4 years in State Legislature and 6 years as Governor for a total of 10 years.
Ronald Reagan was Governor for 8 years.
George Bush Sr. was in Congress for 4 years before becoming the Vice President to Ronald Reagan.
Bill Clinton was Governor for a total of 12 years.
George W. Bush was Governor for 6 years.

Hillary Clinton has spent 7 years in the Senate so far.
Barack Obama spent 8 years in State Legislature and has been in the Senate for 4 years so far, for a total of 12 years.

Comment: Honestly what is Hillary's experience except sleeping in the whitehouse. It is now known that she exaggerated her experience. Turns out she was doing First Lady's duties. Is America still trying to go thru the 21st century wit our heads in the sand because we live in denial? The only person in this race who knows, feels what we all are feeling is him. He is just as much white as he is black, so he has both races at heart. He has an Asian connection. He represents the American Melting pot. Check out how he has managed his campaign, oh by the way, he did not blow a great deal on parties etc like Hillary, and since she did not have a Plan B for after Super Tuesday, reminds me of Bush going into Iraq without a plan B. Do we really need to make the same stupid mistakes? I would rather take a chance on someone completely new cause we know business as usual Washington is not working.

Comment: What are you talking about? Obama is not ready for the presidency and don't think that he will get it without a fight. Hillary and even McCain would make better leaders than Obama. He still has to define hope and change because all he has been doing is contributing to the same o same o politcs. I see Obama and his family profiting from all the administrations before him. How do you think someone like him profitted from attending prestigeous schools? I know he didn't have the money growing up. Hillary worked her way to get where she is at. She did the registration of voters stint for McGovern. Obama "organized" without getting his hands dirty. McCain is not that old and has earned his own stripes. Only in America can people express what you are expressing and get away with it. You need to research because if you did you would realize that Obama has affiliations with people who want to hurt the United States and white people. These are facts that are well documented.

Comment: Senator Obama does not stand alone in his love for this country - we all have people in our lives we rather have nothing to do with but as Christians we have to accept them and moreover, we need to learn from the disturbed and the ugly -

Senator Obama should not be linked to anyone in particular and he should not have to answer to anybody regarding his personal decisions. Let us not destroy the name of our next President please !

It would be very easy for the Obama Camp to distribute videos of certain White Churches that hate Jews and Catholics alike , will this please everybody ?? will this put it all in the perspective so that the few , the very few that cannot see , would understand the world as it really is ???

We are white Republicans , but in this particular election we are Obamicans
which to me it means "the only party worth fighting for right now "

Wake up America ! Barack is a good person, it is clear he has not a single nasty bone in his body and that what we see is what we will always get - a person with an amazing sense of integrity whose experience is unique and special

For those of you who think 'experience' important - I recommend you read Time Magazine with Barack on the Cover - An eye opener - because this job is unlike any other :

the only experience required to be a President is that of having been a President , the more successful Presidents of the United States of America have been those without the so called political experience !

Comment: It is easy to see why he would decide to change his name from Barry to Barack - appart from the later meaning "Blessed" , it is also his real and very exotic name !!!! Coud not be more appropriate , humble as he is , we Americans are very lucky indeed to have such a candidate for the Presidency !
If we just stop being blinded by our inner fears , we would accept what Senator Obama has to offer , that is, our unique chance to unite as a Nation for the common good of our people and country !

He has told America how much he loves it by putting his life on the line for everyone to take bites at it ...
He has shown how much he cares by allowing us share his life with him . United we will WIN against all evil , United we shall become a kinder Nation, We need to stand together, not just say it, make it happen !
We need to hear his passionate speeches on the subject of UNITY

He has more than declare his dislike for anything that is un American , let's stop demanding what we ourselves cannot give, would never be able to give which is the dedication and desire to help all Americans achieve the unachivable !

Stop bashing this gentle soul, let's give him our support and enjoy the fruits of our valuable judgement !
Is the very least we can do for our children and grandchildren to come

Small minds stay on with the ugly Gossip , let's rise above it all
The world is watching us, the world wants Barack Obama as our next President

If this was a world decision, we would have already nominated a Democratic Candidate and future President , let's not waste any more time ,

Barack you have my vote and that of all of those of my family that really love this country
    and we are Republicans !

God guided you to us , Glory to God !

He is blessed and we Americans are very lucky to have this "once in a life time candidate " there are no second chances, God works in mysterious ways ! No candidate has ever been more appropriate , ever !
United we will make it, United we will WIN against all evil and catastrophy ....
Stop the bashing of a gentle soul, let's concentrate on the issues !
Barack Obama for President of the United States of America , God's Will be done !

I then gave all of my children my formal name as their middle name. I am 51, and a lawyer and I am supporting 100% Barak Obama and being I pride myself on being a smart woman who is fair. It is clear that racism and sexism and ignorance is still a problem for America. I just hope we have coming farther if even only enough farther to show the world that we are more than what we have seemed. We have so many things that need our attention now. Barack Obama is exactly what we need to draw our attentions where they need to be - on ourselves as kind and smart and humble human beings as best as we can be now. Religious strife around the world, cultural and environmental woes abound now. We must make the right decisions now and stop this ignorant and devisive language and begin by electing Obama, bringing our troops home, taking care of them and agressively attacking our problems in a different way.

And the war between the Obamaniacs and the Clintonistas is getting downright disgusting. Everywhere on the web, weblog, newspaper blog, or commentary of any kind is personal, directed at other voters (and obviously the candidates) that this election process is once again losing its appeal.

WHITE AMERICAN 'S ARE IN TRUE DENIAL ABOUT HOW THEY TRULY THINK AND FEEL ABOUT BLACK AMERICAN'S IN THIS COUNTRY. Comment: Have you really read the Bible or are you just trying to quote anything that souncd offensive? If you read and believe in the Bible as I do then you would know whatever GOD choices to do can be stop by someone voting or not voting for them. You are confusing man with GOD. The middle East is a great example of man thinking he can change things. The middle east has been votile since the beginning of time. But if you really understand and read the Bible the USA is not mention there nowhere and no type of reference anywhere. Which Bible are you reading?

Comment: Barack strikes me as a brilliant young man who's destined to be president..the word "historic" is written all over him. He has more human experience than any of the other candidates combined. He will be our next president, nobody comes close to this man in worldly knowledge, intelligence, honesty and personal appeal. Thanks Marta
