I think Barack Obama got the vote. He going win. He's got so caught up in this race, which is a good thing, thats going take him to the top.If he has faith in god, his self, and the people, he's going make it. He doesn't need to worry about the other people in the race like Clinton, and McCain, and Edwards. All he needs to do is to run his race. Like a.... Horse running its race. Trying to get to the finish line first. And I as one of the many people that believes in him, I do too. :-) And I hope he wins, Its time for a change of progress. :-)

Huh? What planet or more realistically what country aer you blogging from? Maybe Kenya or Indonesia? You do not even know that Clinto and Edwards are out of the political race realistically? I forgot, Obamas site had the menu option of COUNTRY at one time, not just US state. Get it now.

      • Posted By: sharenews @ 06/05/2008 4:26:13 AM

Sorry, that was a bit sarcastic and for that I apologize. But what?

  • Posted By: sharenews @ 06/05/2008 4:23:13 AM

Response to Mew Esha: I ask this question respectfully: What country are you from? Kenya? Indonesia? Other? I say this cuz you do not even know as of today who was on the democratic ticket running against Obama? To fill you in, Hillary Clinton and John Edwards are both not on the Presidential ticket anymore. So yeah, that is the case. But when it comes to Mr. John McCain he is another horse running in this race on the Republican ticket . I can tell that you are very passionate about Mr. Obama and Im sure all other political challengers appreciate your endorsement of Barack Obama, but there are still other candidates in the race that are challenging Mr. Obama, mainly as the Republican Candidate, John McCain. I am not at a point to endorse or vote for either candidate until I find more info out abot either candidate. But I do appreciate your comments that you have posted on this Newsweek board,. : - ).

The man did not trash his grandmother. he gave an example of how older people still look at RACE today!!!!!!
he can unify the country. He will if we let him. VOTE OBAMA. Forget all the mud slinging and get on board the BARACK train. Let's turn America around. If we get BARACK fros President it will change America and the WORLD will look at us different and we will gain more respect. That's the only way people from other lands will start to believe that we are serious about leading the WORLD. We finally had enough nerve to elect someone else instead of the same old establishment.

VERY well said ncantrell. Folks might as well jump on board, because it's GOING to happen. Hillary is an idiot for continuing this race. She is entirely too self-serving and only harming the democrat partying but not bowing out gracefully. She obviously cannot fathom the idea that she didn't have the nomination given to her as expected. Nor can she stomach the fact that despite all of her attempts, she never found a way to BEAT Barack! OBAMA '08!!!

EnI am so sick of hearing people say that Hillary Clinton is tearing the Democratic Party apart. I think that job has already been fulfilled by Obama. Only a self???absorbed person with a mammoth ego would declare his candidacy for the most important job on earth after serving only one year in the senate. He was also probably banking on the fact that many Americans would not take the time to do their homework and could be schmoozed by smooth talk and charisma. Those same qualities are the one???s that have allowed crooked tele???evangelist to milk millions out of people???s pockets and why so many people overpay for clunkers from a used car lot. Clinton was in the race first and if Obama really truly cared about the Democratic party and his country, he would have first, worked hard in the Senate to: first prove himself as an effective leader in the legislature and to the people of Illinois; second, he would have campaigned vigorously for Senator Clinton to take her historic candidacy all the way to the White House, and then a few years down the road, he could thrown his hat into the ring to become the first African American president. Right now, his impatience, selfishness, and ginormous ego will indeed cost the Democratic Party the claim to the first female president, followed by the first African American president.
        PS
Is there anyone out there who can give five concrete and substantive reasons, based on his record, and without using the intangible words ???inspiration or uniter, why Obama is qualified to be the leader of the free world?

Barry is at much a racist as the church he chose----------he will no more be president of this Great Country than Ronald McDonald-----------sorry all you token blacks, feel good liberals and white weak apologists------oh yeah, I mean Democrats.

I was living in Chicago when Obama ran for U.S. Senate, and I voted for him. Obama has portrayed that election as "hard-faught" and "close." It was, until his Repuplican opponent, who was strongly favored to win, was removed by his own GOP because of a sex scandal. Obama ran against Alan Keyes, a windbag who lives in Maryland, and rented an apartment in IL when the GOP could find no one else to run. He wasn't a resident, wasn't taken seriously, made outlandish statements (mostly his interpretations of the Bible), and still captured over 30% of the vote. If I had known about "Rev." Wright,, the Black Pledge/Black Liberation Theology, or that Obama had no record to speak of in eight years as an IL State Senator -- he never authored one significant bill, and had more involvement becoming wealthy working side-by-side with the largest slumlord (Tony Rezco) in Chicago than with the people's business -- I never would have cast my vote for him. He has barely gotten his feet wet as a U.S. Senator, and all I see is Chicago-style politics: graft, lying, and a drunken need for power. Seems Obama will morph into anything and anyone (notice how his accent changes in differnt parts of the country, anyone?) to get elected. When this race began, only John Edwards, then Hillary Clinton had explicit, coherent, policy proposals for dealing with this nation's crises -- the ones that affect ALL of us. Now Hillary is left; she is articulate, her husband, contrary to press reports, WAS a great president, and besides, he isn't running -- she is. SHEdidn't just start out on the national scene; she was a community organizer, she seems to be in this because she is truly passionate about making a positive difference, and she is far less polarizing than Barry, sorry, Barack Obama will always be.

How sad that this country is in love with it's new wunderkid because of his ethnic origins (and I'm a minority, not a bigot), and the media is going right along with all of it. Jim Jones was charismatic, too, from what I understand.

I could not agree more------but, consider the fact that most liberals ie: Dems, have less than two (2) functioning neurons in their head to begin with, is it surprising that there led like sheep with a herd mentality. They deserve the likes of H&H.

Way to go Richard! you found some very compelling evidence that Barack Obama used the name Barry as a child. Had Obama not questioned himself or path in life as a young man, I would have seriously been worried. Thanks, and for helping to solidify my vote for him. ( i know by the idiocy of this article that you must be a secret supporter..right?) Newsweek is a credible reporting institution....or so the story goes

The democrats are going to have to ask themselves who has the better shot of beating McCain. With all of the dirt building up against Obama, it's becoming clear that he has become unelectable. People can say how great he is and how great a speaker he is and how he'll fight against the "establishment", but in the end the republican attack ads will take their toll and he'll lose because he isn't a fighter. John Kerry fell exactly for this reason. All the whiners complaining about Hillary's tactics need to toughen up if they want to beat the Republican war machine. The pastor controversy is a trianwreck for the Obama campaign. He gets to choose his pastor, and he should have dumped this guy a long time ago if he had any aspirations at all for running for President. It was a stupid and foolish lack of vision for a guy who is running on that platform. It will make a lot of Americans wonder and simply not willing to risk a term with Obama. It will fire up a disenfranchised republican base and McCain will walk over him, although watching McCain speak is like watching paint dry, he is a tried and true war hero. Dems need to ask themselves who has a better shot at beating the Republican dirt machine, it's that simple.

So, let's see - what you are advocating is that if Barack Obama ends the primary season with the most pledged delegates and the most popular vote - we should chuck that and crown Hillary. Doesn't sound very American to me!

      • Posted By: Jrmapu @ 03/24/2008 7:56:25 PM

What you fail to see is that Obama won states that may or may not make a difference in the electorate vote of the presidency. Hillary won 5 possibly 8 of the 11 states whom choose the president. Obama won 2 possibly 3 of the 11 states. And his non-acknowledgement of Florida and Michigan will come back and bite him in the BUTT. The DNC knows this and are afraid of the possiblity of another republican president. Again these are facts. You must be young otherwise you would have known this.

        • Posted By: Tane @ 03/31/2008 5:15:06 AM

There is no indication that Barack will not win those same states that Hillary won in the General election against McCain. He is currently leading McCain by larger margins in most of those states in polls than Hillary. Many of those states (California, New York...) are "true blue" states that will surely vote Democrat in the General. The reason that his 50 state approach is so exciting to the DNC is because he could very possibly turn several "red" states "blue" in the General, which would amount to a much larger victory over McCain than the 1% victory that Hillary is striving for. With his nomination would come his organizers and supporters who would then help campaign for fellow Democrats running for House and Senate seats, thus greatly increasing the number of Democrats in office, which would allow for us to finally break free from the gridlock that has prevented progress for the last 14 years.

If you had seen the full context of Rev. Wrights's message you would have seen that the title of the sermon was "America's and other Governments' Failure To Secure The Rights of People...." The need to understand the tragedy of the Japanese Internment Camps; the decimation of the Jewish people by Germany; slavery; women's rights, etc, and the egomaniacal, supreme Judgement of the American government or any other government to believe that they are above "God and Laws and Reprehensions."

Look at history. I don't think you can point to any minority how has destoryed this country. for example, slavery in the USA was not created by black, neither was Jim Crow, how about Women's rights it wasn't black who denied women the vote. Let's talk about WMD used on other countries it wasn't a black person who decided that. Oh yeah and let's remember WACO Texas, Ruby Hill and the Federal building none of those were black. Actually they were all people like YOU!

Forget religion, skin color, or personality. It's time to grow up! We need a president with the proven ability to lead. Obama -- come back after you've actually done something instead of just talking a good game. Even JFK (to whom Obama has been compared) was a certified war hero and a leader of great merit. We live in a world where a billion crazy people want to see us dead and our way of life destroyed! The forces of anti-civilization can only be kept at bay (and eventually calmed down) by a strong and courageous America led by a President of character, intellect, compassion...and experience. Not one who is still trying to "find himself." The only valid choice is between Clinton or McCain. Obama is simply not ready to sit in the big chair...not by a long shot. To believe otherwise is a triumph of celebrity over substance and if that's the point to which we have sunk in our political process...then we deserve what we get. But I'm not ready to give up just yet.

    • Posted By: Tane @ 03/31/2008 4:52:36 AM

So, proven experience equals the ability to lead this country? I suppose the experience of Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld... is a shining example of that. And all the experience of our Senators and Congressmen that led them to make the judgment to ratify the Bush administration's authority to begin a preemptive strike against a country that had not struck us? Did they show how well they had learned their lesson from 5 years in Iraq to then go on to vote to essentially authorize impending war in Iran? I think I'd rather trust Obama's Judgment, as he opposed the Iraq war and has introduced legislation to stop the Administration from using the Iran Resolution to begin yet another war in Iran. Hillary and McCain voted for the Iran Resolution... I would expect that from McCain: Bomb bomb bomb Iran, but I would have hoped that Hillary would have learned from the Iraq Resolution that this Administration is hoodwinking us when it purports these resolutions are just to increase diplomacy and sanctions.

Aside from that, since he has had more legislative experience (12 years total) than most of our past Presidents, aside from JFK who had 14 years of experience, I'd say that experience has not been the criteria for many of our leaders.

      Legislative Experience:
Abraham Lincoln spent 8 years in state legislature and 2 years in Congress for a total of 10 years.
Theodore Roosevelt spent 2 years as Governor of New York before becoming Vice President in 1900 and stepping up as President in 1901 after McKinley died.
Woodrow Wilson spent 2 years as Governor of Jew Jersey before winning the election for Presidency in 1912.
Harry Truman spent 10 years in the US Senate for a total of 10 years legislative experience.
John F. Kennedy spent 6 years in Congress and 8 years in the Senate for a total of 14 years.
Jimmy Carter spent 4 years in State Legislature and 6 years as Governor for a total of 10 years.
Ronald Reagan was Governor for 8 years.
George Bush Sr. was in Congress for 4 years before becoming the Vice President to Ronald Reagan.
Bill Clinton was Governor for a total of 12 years.
George W. Bush was Governor for 6 years.

Hillary Clinton has spent 7 years in the Senate so far.
Barack Obama spent 8 years in State Legislature and has been in the Senate for 4 years so far, for a total of 12 years.

Honestly what is Hillary's experience except sleeping in the whitehouse. It is now known that she exaggerated her experience. Turns out she was doing First Lady's duties. Is America still trying to go thru the 21st century wit our heads in the sand because we live in denial? The only person in this race who knows, feels what we all are feeling is him. He is just as much white as he is black, so he has both races at heart. He has an Asian connection. He represents the American Melting pot. Check out how he has managed his campaign, oh by the way, he did not blow a great deal on parties etc like Hillary, and since she did not have a Plan B for after Super Tuesday, reminds me of Bush going into Iraq without a plan B. Do we really need to make the same stupid mistakes? I would rather take a chance on someone completely new cause we know business as usual Washington is not working.

Though John McCain is to be admired , his time has passed - age is against him - he is not capable to run this country unless he has Jimminy Cricket telling him what to do . Please ......

      • Posted By: Jrmapu @ 03/24/2008 7:47:32 PM

What are you talking about? Obama is not ready for the presidency and don't think that he will get it without a fight. Hillary and even McCain would make better leaders than Obama. He still has to define hope and change because all he has been doing is contributing to the same o same o politcs. I see Obama and his family profiting from all the administrations before him. How do you think someone like him profitted from attending prestigeous schools? I know he didn't have the money growing up. Hillary worked her way to get where she is at. She did the registration of voters stint for McGovern. Obama "organized" without getting his hands dirty. McCain is not that old and has earned his own stripes. Only in America can people express what you are expressing and get away with it. You need to research because if you did you would realize that Obama has affiliations with people who want to hurt the United States and white people. These are facts that are well documented.

It's only a name but it does show that he had political aspirations for a long time. It is funny though that after changing from Barry to Barack he did not also think to change Hussein to ANYTHING! He is after all all about change. What worries me more is the lack of change in his political speeches and the lack of substance in his political platitudes.

    • Posted By: Tane @ 03/31/2008 3:49:49 AM

Good grief! This is ridiculous! He didn't go and legally change his name. His birth name is Barack. When he was young his family and friends nick-named him Barry. The fact that when he went to college he began to ask people to call him Barack is no different than my good friend deciding that she didn't want to be called Jenny anymore when she went to college and started having people call her Jennifer so she could feel more grown up.

Obama's rise to fame is biblical. It is the first chapter in the prophecy that has the real Israelite--the Black, Latino and Indian peoples of the western hemisphere--re-conquering America. Then the devilish white man will be enslaved, as he enslaved the Nation of Israel in America.

Obama is god's will being done.

It is easy to see why he would decide to change his name from Barry to Barack - appart from the later meaning "Blessed" , it is also his real and very exotic name !!!! Coud not be more appropriate , humble as he is , we Americans are very lucky indeed to have such a candidate for the Presidency !
If we just stop being blinded by our inner fears , we would accept what Senator Obama has to offer , that is, our unique chance to unite as a Nation for the common good of our people and country !

He has told America how much he loves it by putting his life on the line for everyone to take bites at it ...
He has shown how much he cares by allowing us share his life with him . United we will WIN against all evil , United we shall become a kinder Nation, We need to stand together, not just say it, make it happen !
We need to hear his passionate speeches on the subject of UNITY

He has more than declare his dislike for anything that is un American , let's stop demanding what we ourselves cannot give, would never be able to give which is the dedication and desire to help all Americans achieve the unachivable !

Stop bashing this gentle soul, let's give him our support and enjoy the fruits of our valuable judgement !
Is the very least we can do for our children and grandchildren to come

Small minds stay on with the ugly Gossip , let's rise above it all
The world is watching us, the world wants Barack Obama as our next President

If this was a world decision, we would have already nominated a Democratic Candidate and future President , let's not waste any more time ,

Barack you have my vote and that of all of those of my family that really love this country
    and we are Republicans !

God guided you to us , Glory to God !

You mean in the God D--m America run by rich White Men-----------that America??

  • Posted By: swilkins @ 03/24/2008 3:28:27 PM

for all the people who think obama or hillary can not win against mccain, did you forget that historically there are more democrats than republicans, and if all or at least 60-70% of the democrats vote, there is no way a republican can win, without cheating of course....

With or without illegal aliens-----------oh, I'm sorry Ms. Democrat, I mean undocumented aliens.

Barack Obama is a great American and he will make a great American president.

    • Posted By: Talon7334 @ 03/30/2008 5:47:57 AM

President Barry Barack Hussien Obama-----------------has a nice ring to it don't you think? I know when I hear it said, the first thiing that pops into my head is the United States of America----------ah, yeah right!!!

  • Posted By: PMR1 @ 03/24/2008 11:24:49 PM

Why can't we just discuss what the article is about. I think it is very enheartening to see Mr. Obama's family in pictures-it's an American story, full of people from all walks of life contributing to a common experience. In a very real sense, Mr. Obama's successes are successes for us all, and when we see his multi-ethnic heritage and upbringing, I'd like to think we are seeing America as it should be.

Love, Love, Love, all you need is love---------------wake up and see reality----Did you not see the Rev Wright speak----------------the pastor of the church Barry chose and attended for 20+ years--------let go of the tree your hugging and wake up for God sakes!!!! He is the Anti-Christ to have so many people refusing to see the truth about him------even when it is right before their eyes.

America is no more ready for a Black President than we are a Woman President. Race relations are going backwards with what B. Hussein Obama's bungling of the Wright relationship showed. Get over it Black America, there is no mule and no 40 acres, you gotta earn it like the rest of us.

    • Posted By: dance4me @ 03/26/2008 10:03:01 AM

how about you get over it and realize that the world is no longer lilly white and controlled solely by white men. I think it's you and YOUR type who needs the true reality check. YOU may not be ready for him, but don't suggest the rest of the country is just as ignorant as you.

      • Posted By: Talon7334 @ 03/30/2008 5:26:12 AM

Seems like it is black men spouting all the hatred these days-------------can't remember the last time I saw a Rev Wrong damning America or black people in general on Fox News. Considering the benefits to minorities living in this country, particularly during the past 25year period, you would believe a bit of gratitude would be warranted but, nothing but hatred--------------I say, white man, stop giving handouts to these people and let them survive or perish on their own---------after all, is not black Africa thriving???

  • Posted By: cak1235 @ 03/28/2008 6:54:58 PM

Since rich white men couldn't have a successful canidate, they are using what they have to work with. They making Barack into a white man. It wouldn't have worked with Hillary.

    • Posted By: Talon7334 @ 03/30/2008 5:16:20 AM

signed: Rev Wright (be kind to those rich white men-------without them your handout would not be possible)

Great pictures. I see a beautiful American. A wise man. A man of compassion and kindness. After eight years of Bush, we need a president who can inspire unity and compassion in this country and win respect around the world. He's a thinker who can lead and a leader who thinks. Obama 2008!

    • Posted By: Talon7334 @ 03/30/2008 5:04:11 AM

I whole heartedly agree--------------a president who can inspire unity, compassion as well as win the respect of the world----------wow!!!!----------------do we have one of those runniing? I thought we had H&H, both proven liars, and the GOP Rep, J. McCain-----not exactly inspiring!!!

There's no way this person represents me. He spent his formative years in one of the most notorious radical Islamic countries in the world - Indonesia. I'm sorry, but I want a fully American president. Not a part Indonesian, part African, part white, part black part yuppie part civil rights activist.

Jesse Jackson and I don't have much in common, but I know who he is and if he makes it to the white house I can swallow hard and stand behind him. I don't agree with him, I don't like him but he is 100% who he is 100% of the time. Obama canges depending on who he's talking to. Sorry, better the lying scheming Billary. I know all she wants is to be president for the sake of it. She's in love with power just like Billy boy. She's a bad choice for the country, but we know what to expect. Ralph Nader's story is consitant. He wants to be president to level the playing field for everybody. He is an unashamed socialist, But I know who he is, too, and it doesn't change from meeting to meeting.

Who is "fully American"? Senator Clinton is mixed with Canadian and something else to boot.

    • Posted By: zouavetim @ 03/24/2008 1:32:02 PM

      You mean charliehorsespatoot don't you?

  • Posted By: rbrooks41 @ 03/24/2008 9:24:14 AM

Why did he take the oath of office on the Koran rather than the Bible.

    • Posted By: Red&White&Blue @ 03/28/2008 12:18:49 PM

Do your research. Senator Obama took his oath on the Bible.

    • Posted By: polozika24 @ 03/24/2008 12:06:21 PM

Pls, there is difference between the names barack obama and keith allison

    • Posted By: jashley576 @ 03/24/2008 9:40:32 AM

You are confusing him with another candidate. I think the one you are referring to is a Mayor in Michigan. Do they all really look alike? They don't to me.

    • Posted By: bozos72 @ 03/24/2008 9:34:10 AM

I'm very happy that only the bat-sh*t crazy take this sort of talk seriously.
