Funny how everyone is talking about Obama's church. Yet these same people embrace network television series and movies that promote violence, intolerance, degradation of just about anyone and everyone... So the guy goes to church where the black minister thinks whites are oppressive. Big deal. Every other corporate and political leader in this country shamelessly worships every night at his/her tv, watching and supporting stuff that is completely insane! What's wrong with a black man who's been oppressed by whites saying so? And what's wrong with a black man sitting in the pews and listening? Would you prefer he was at home watching FOX news and Hostel parts 1 and 2? Not me...

What's interesting is it's the supposedly "all tolerant" Clintons who have pulled out the race card. This has shown them to be what those of us who could look at them objectively have always known. The Dem's are finally showing themselves to be the racist and sexist people we always knew they were. The only thing missing from this drama is a gay person running for president. You gotta love the Dem's being exposed.

I thank you for these pictures of Obama. I support him even though I think the media has tried to destroy him. I do not understand why this is done. I and my father could fight for America, but cannot be considered equal to the rest of America. I am not Black, African-American. Iam simply an American. Obama is not black, white, colored, African-American. He is simply an American and deserves the same opportunities to lead this country as Hiliary or anyone else. Thankyou for allowing me this opportunity.

Wow, what a surprise! Yet another "indepth", closeup look at Obama by Newsweek! Did ya'll buy stock in his campaign or something? I don't care about this guy's racial profile. A huge number of Americans are "mixed" of many different countries and cultures. The thing I find disconcerting is that people who own the media or who have the money to influence the media coverage -- have given Obama overtly positive and extensive news coverage. THIS fact is the backstory of this campaign. If the press had run fair and even coverage, Obama wouldn't even still be in the running. The press will go down in history as having played a decisive role in this election. That's reason enough for me to oppose Obama. The press has shoved Obama in front of us relentlessly like the man is the next Messiah. I don't trust this situation one bit. The press is not doing its job and asking the truly hard question -- Why is the media pandering to Obama? Who is behind this media blitz of Obama? And what do they stand to gain if Obama becomes president? Personally, I'm taking a hard look at Microsoft -- who stands to gain a "look the other way" in their monopoly lawsuit mess.

Just a THOUGHT from a former journalist. Stop being GROUPIES and start doing your JOBS.

Pasbair, you really should cut down on your drug use

here's just a thought psbair... you're wrong about the all time positive coverage... you must not have been watching last week.. and Obama is the frontrunner, with good reason.. He's proved himself, as he keeps doing, I'm truly surprised the press hasn't been harder on Hillary, given HER history. But have you conveniently forgotten that? Talk about selective memory!

It would be difficult to view you as a journalist!!
Your arguements are weak and rambling.
The whole Rev. Wright issue has been continued too long.
We plan to vote Obama- if given a chance- for all others we choose to stay home.

Pasbair, How can you blame Barack for the media coverage he is getting. "Reason enough to oppose Obama"?? This is probably the most tortured logic I've ever encountered. Barack Obama is an honest, worldly man who is in a unique position to change this country. I wish the nay-sayers would get off their high horse and try being positive once in a while. Lastly, as a journalists, you should know better than anyone to filter through the media a get information for yourself.

Please view the context of the sermon of Pastor Wright (snippets from which we have seen in endless reruns recently) at:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QOdlnzkeoyQ

You see a man who has a genuine love for ALL innocent human life, exhorting his congregation to follow a similar mode of thinking. The sermon apparently was delivered not too long after 9/11. Pastor Wright refers to the tragedy as a "hijacking" as many of us did then, before the phrase "9/11" became widespread. The pastor is using his belief in the scripture to warn his congregation against supporting action that could take innocent lives in any retaliatory action. That is hardly a picture of a crazed preacher, spewing hatred.

The Rev. Wright's sermon was taken out of context. The media should be ashamed for what they are saying. At least they should have had more than the 30 second sound bite. I was listening to Sean Hannity and it is apparent that he made it seem worst than what it is. I wonder how these people sleep at night. I understand wanting to win an election but not by telling or showing untruths to fire people up. That's very dishonest.

Pictures tell alot about Obama and his diverse family.
    Thank you.
We support Obama- his rich background gives him insight into issues many of us have never experienced.
He would be a President for All Americans.

shelwoot1737, thanks a lot for your very thoughtful observation. I'm almost afraid of adding anything to it so not to mess it up. You know, it's easy to forget events such as you rightly raised in your piece, out of political convenience. I say that chiefly because I know that very many of us deep down in their hearts know that it is simply wrong to fault Obama for his continued membership of that church. It may not be as simple as strict adherence to the injunction to take the good message/preaching and leave the bad, which is the main reason Catholics still flood churches much as they do, some even with the same accused pastors at the helm, but it is a good start. Obama, before and since his membership of that church has led examplery life devoid of any run-in with the law or authorities in general, which would have been loosely correlated to the teachings at his church, still the hue and cry is loud as it has been, imagine what it would've been like had he been involved in anti-American demonstrations in exercise of free speech! Thanks again,shelwoot1737.

I can understand why Obama can talk to the American public on race from a unique position. I can only imagine the things he has heard and seen from whites and blacks. What a journey! Both groups would let down barriers and just be real in front of him because he has a foot in both worlds. I can only imagine how that must have been for him as a child. It seems he has made peace and just accepts people as they are.
The country has more and more mixed children/families and time is running out for racial inequality and bigotry. Make no mistake, all races have bigotry , not just whites.
