Tere are a lot of ignorant people out there who speak (or in this case, type before they think) Not everybody is built the same. Some are unable to carry there own and have probably tried to adopt with no results. They just do not hand out babies and/or children when you apply to adopt. It can take years. Gay couples have a harder time with adoptions. This sometimes it the best option. Don't offend and insult surrogates when you do not even know the whole, by the way "It's none of your business anyways"! Get a life and quit judging women who only want to help. I loved being preggers! I have 3 little ones of my own. Would love to do it again. But only as a surrigate. It puts my health at a risk with every pregnancy but it is worth it to feel that little life inside and then the joy of a couple finally being a family. It's a little selfish for me but a feel good for both sides! :)

I don't think that it is disgusting at all the people want to help someone else have a baby, nor that they would rather have someone carry a baby that is theirs rather than adopt a child, and a lot of people are turned down for adoption, example: a gay couple, a single person who wants a child, but does not even have a prospect for a mate, but makes enough to well support a baby. Yes there are easier ways to make 20,000 dollars, however, a lot of the women who do this, are poor and uneducated, OR military wives, who are on a fixed income.

The adoption process is not an easy one either, with a surrogate you have the baby, and it's yours, just as if you had it yourself, adoption, you have to go through social work, you have social workers in your house almost every week, they want your entire life on a piece of paper, and then it could be several years before you even get the chance to adopt a baby, so i would argue that paying a surrogate in the end would probably be cheaper and simpler, than the adoption process.

Please stop putting down the women that want to have children, and the ones who want to help them get there.

Our government spends money on much dumber things than military surrogates, like illegal aliens perhaps, i'd be much more concerned about that

Those who adopt are brave and generous souls. Not everyone can handle the sacrifices called for at adoption (just as not every woman can handle being a surrogate), therefore, no one should be forced to consider such a noble thing when a perfectly viable biological option may suit them better.

Wombs to rent 50 cents, no phone, some food, no pets, she wont smoke no cigarettes and then 2 hours of pushing brings, a new 7 pound human being

To CaBez@ 03/31/2008 2:55:47 PM - I would argue the fool is the one who advocates for a system where all the children in the world waiting for parents to adopt them are overlooked by baby-greedy wealthy parent-wanna-bes who would rather rent a womb than look to give their love to a child that is not biologically theirs but already born into this world and desperately in need of a home and loving parents. But hey, suit yourself and go rent your womb and buy yourself a new plasma tv.

There are a lot easier ways to make $20,000...no thanks. It's disgusting that the military pays for surrogates...another big waste of our money. If someone can afford $20,000 for a baby they need to cover the medical costs as well.

I definitely agree with the post preceeding my own. I am in my early 30s and I have no children which is a choice that my husband and I have made. I would love to bring the joy of a child into someone's life if I could. I have never really researched the possibility, I figured, I was getting to old. If anyone knows SERIOUSLY how to steer me in the right direction to help someone else--or if you are someone who needs a person like me to help you and you know what to do-- contact me. lyfeiz2short74@yahoo.com

I feel that if a woman can give the gift of using her body to carry a child that another woman can not it is wonderful. As a mother of 2, and having a sibling that struggles with fertiltiy and in the process of IVF, not every woman is made to carry children just as not every woman to gives birth is made to be a good mother. It is the choise of the two woman and if the right person approached me to give such a gift I would not have to think twice.

i was a successful first time gestational surrogate in august 05 to a same sex couple. everything took the first time...us meeting & the transfer. it was a wonderful delivery when the parents held their child for the first time it made me cry tears of joy. i had no problems giving that baby right to them. i would love to do it again i had so much fun! good luck to all those thinking of doing it!

As a 3 time surrogate, the wide range of comments is extremely interesting to me. If you are a surrogate, you have an understanding of why we do this and most of time time it has nothing to do with the money. Realize, we are risking our lives every single time. If you are someone who has never carried a child for another and cannot understand the process, no one's asking you to, it's not for everyone. Even funnier, if you are a man bold enough to post your opinions about the trivialness of a woman to give her body for another, it's clear you've never met a surrogate or done any research. While every industry has the small % that taints its reputation, it would serve well to investigate. I'm proud to say that in addition to my own, I've completed 2 addtional families. An experience I wouldn't trade for any amount of money - and that I would gladly share with anyone who truly cared to ask.

MBF, military spouse and mother of 4 in NNY will surrogate! I loved being pregnant. Motherhood is a gift and anyone who wants to experience that gift but cant due to medical reasons still deserve the chance. With so many children being born and unwanted, why would anyone NOT want to help one be loved?? Those who oppose are the hearltess ones! I would LOVE to help someone realize the dream of motherhood, whether you are on a budget or not. michelle_j50@yahoo.com. No problem! Good Luck!!

Being a Surrogate Mother is probably one of the most selfless and generous things a woman could ever do. The Intetended Parents are in a rough spot in their lives and its so awesome that there are women with the guys and hearts to do it. I made a site that is the online meeting ground for these two sides. If you are interested your should check out:: http://www.SurrogateMother.com

i wish i was still able to be a surrogate mother so that others could have the joy and frustrations of raising children!!! i don't think that receiving compensation is greedy or prostitution- it is common sense to protect the surrogate and child with good prenatal care as well as the surrogate's family in case of complications- after all, they are carrying a baby not a bowling ball.

I am a surro and getting aid for it. I am doing this because I have had easy pregnancies. I do get paid but I did not ask as much as some people do . I am doing this because I feel everyone should have the family they want and because I have 3 small chidren who will be affected by this I am asking compensation for certain things. Do I believe I am selfish no the money goes towards a house for my kids to grow up in and to better my family. Not all surros who ask for money are evil. I have even turned down offers from my IP's to give me more money because that I feel is not right Im not out to milk someone for all its worth, Again not all surros are evil.

Ignore all the fools and their silly arguments, just know that what you are doing, or have done, is appreciated by the people who needed you most. Thanks.
