I would absolutely love to be a surrogate. How do I get started? I live in Tennessee. email me at kathyannie1@hotmail.com with any information. I am a military wife with 2 kids. I don't want anymore of my own but I loved being pregnant and would love to bring love into someone elses life.

I have 3 children from a previous marriage who are almost grown (I was a young mother) and my current husband desperately wants one child of his own. Unfortunately, I found out that I am infertile from too many C-Sections. We are both open to the surrogate route but was told I can't use my egg because I used to have Hep C (I've been treated and negative for 8 years). Just wondering if anyone out there has had Hep C and treated and willing to be a surrogate for us? jhicks2570@aim.com (btw: all 3 kids are Hep C free, so it doesn't always pass on and I've been told conflicting info that my egg can't be used for a surrogate but others have said; my eggs are Hep C free)

I am VERY interested in becoming a surrogate ( NOT using MY eggs), but I have no idea how to even go about it. I am 32 years old and I live in Ohio. I have a 13 year old daughter, and I am married to a U.S Marine currently serving his 4th tour in Iraq. We have been married for 12 years and I have always wanted to do this and he has always said I could, but I have never known how to even find someone that I could help. My husband and I don't want anymore children but I desperately want to help a family. What should I do?

I am just reading all these and it is so exciting to see all these women want to help.. I also am a military wife. Good luck. Surf the internet for an agency you feel good with. You MUST HAVE your husbands support. Good Luck!

Surf the internet and there is tons of info. I live in Texas and went through a Texas agency. Lots of background checks and need that support from your daughters. Talk to them first. Good luck!

I was a surrogate and delivered triplets for a wonderful family. It's not about money but helpful it's about taking for granted what we have in our lives, children. I have three of my own and as most of us do we take them for granted. How many of us women cried when we got a positive pregnany result and not a happy cry. That is why I did it. I cried and when my son was born I had never felt so ashamed as I did at that moment. So I became a surrogate. People called me selfish, but it was them whom were selfish. I did this with only the best intentions and to this day I only feel bad about accepting money. I swore on my life if I ever won the lottery I would pay the family back every cent I received. Dont get me wrong I believe surrogates should be reimbursed but we all came close. They have three beautiful one year olds and I can smile knowing I helped do that. It didn't matter what I went through being pregnant with triplets as long as I could hand them over three healthy children and I did. They understand how lucky they are and I do too! I hope to some day do this again but am scared of multiples only cause I have carried 6 children by 4 c-sections and hope to have another biological child of my own. But we will see it may not be in our cards to have another one maybe in someone else's cards.

As a 3x Surrogate I was sad to see the header "womb for rent"... We don't do this for the money. We do it to help make families.

As a 4x (soon to be 5x) Egg Donor and 1x (soon to be 2x) Traditional Surrogate, I must say that I am thrilled to see this article! Granted, some things were not said in the most positive light, but I guess that's journalism (and I know journalism, that's what my husband does!) - always has to have at least one sore spot for controversy. But all in all, great article, well written, and nice to see some of my fellow SMs out there spreading the word about the GOOD of surrogacy! Those with questions can join SMO or AAS - surromomsonline.com/support and allaboutsurrogacy.com to get their questions answered!

I just completed my first surrogacy and found the experience to be wonderful. Anyone who is looking to be or wants to get more info about surrogacy should be able to find an agency through the internet, that's how I found an agency. Every shot I had to endure, every morning I had to run for bathroom, and all of the pushing were worth helping a couple achieve their dream (I'll never forget their faces when their son was handed to them!). I am getting ready to start the next pregnancy with a new couple and I am looking forward to it. I hope all of you who are considering helping out another couple find the information you need and that the experience leaves you wanting to do it over and over again.

I had a 11" tumor and lost my uterus in 2006. I do have the ovaries and dream about having a baby. I'm 38 but still single and hopefully will find a nice man soon and, with God's help, have a family. I'm very happy to know I will be able to find somebody to help me having my baby. Now, I need to work hard to pay for the costs, but I'm sure God will help me on this too. All the best to all surrogate Moms. Thanks, elsouper@ig.com.br

The practice Surrogacy should have a ban on it in all fifty states. It goes against the Christian belief. It does tamper the miracle of life. The miracle of life should not be tampered with!

    • Posted By: happysurrogate @ 04/01/2008 12:04:14 AM

What makes you think you're the voice of Christianity? I believe it is up to God to judge people not you.

    • Posted By: joyfulmom @ 03/31/2008 6:06:54 PM

I am a Christian. I developed Uterine cancer and had to have a hyterectomy at the age of 32. My husband's sister is a Christian. She selflessly volunteered to carry my biological child (my egg, my husband's sperm). The congregations at both of our Christian churches were supportive and loving and joyful. Today we have a beautiful, vibrant, intelligent, healthy, greatly loved 2 1/2 year old daughter who is nothing less than a miracle and a gift from God... and she says her prayers every night before bed thanking God for the fun day of playtime she had and for her kitty-cat. I know in my Christian heart that God is well pleased that He created her.

How is the miracle of life being hindered with surrogacy? Surrogacy creates new life; it doesn't impede it. Get your facts straight before you condemn two people who want to raise a child. Aren't Christians supposed to believe in the whole "Judge not lest ye be judged"?

Comment: I think it wonderful that a person can be so unselfish, to know that they can help a family that longs for a child in there lives, but can't do to infertility problems or other medical problems. I didn't have that problem but my sister did, she ended up adopting 2 children, but it was a long wait for them, now I have a daughter, who is going through infertility it is hard to watch as they go through tests, and there up's and downs when friends, and co-workers are having their kids wanting to be happy for them but longing for your own. As I previously said what a wonderful family, both the wife and the husband to consider helping someone else that longs for the same thing they have enjoyed with their children.

i am a mother of three great kids and for years i have been thinking of being a surrogate but didn't want to go through a agency . And that reason why is i don't want them to make all the choices for me or the parents. i am 28 and will not be having any more children. so i look at it this way god gave me a healthy body , and what the doctors have told me a perfect shaped uterus to carry babies so i better use it .and what a better way to use it but to carry a baby  for someone that is unable to have one of there own so i have thought about it  and i have came to that point in my life that i am ready to help a family that want a child or wants more children. i will be blessed to have someone choose me to give them a gift of a child. so please contact me. and let me do the one thing that would make someone's dreams come true. i have already had my dreams come true with three great kids.www.mommyseatlle@yahoo.com.

What is amazing to me is how one can answer the moral question of surrogacy as right or wrong depending on motives. The fact is these women carry children they will never raise, endure a grueling nine months, yet are criticized if they are "in it for the money" or praised if they "did it out of compassion." Do I believe surrogacy is immoral? No. But like all gifts we are given, pregnancy can be abused. I also believe that when a capable woman chooses not to bear a child out of selfish reasons, such as stretch marks, she loses that inexplicable opportunity and bond that forms as a living soul develops within you. Though I wish surrogacy wouldn't be considered in some circumstances, I praise those willing to carry a baby for an unable couple.

I don't know about all states, but in Florida the intended mother has to have a medical reason for not carrying her own baby.

I suffered for 10 years with infertility, and was told i would never have a child. So we became foster parents and was able to adopt. Then unbelievably, I got pregnant and had a boy 3 yrs ago. About a year after I had the baby, I suffered a miscarriage, and that was devastating. Last year, I had to have a complete hysterectomy and now I will never be able to wonder 'what if' again. I am desperate for another child, (twins would be great! :-). I am a registered nurse, married for 14 yrs with 2 boys ages 7 and 3. I live in Texas. If anyone interested in talking with me, please please email me at melindaallen36@yahoo.com

WOW! Hot topic! I was an IVF surrogate 4 times with 3 different couples. The first, a girl born August 1990, second, a boy born March 1994, third were triplets born February 1996 and finally twins born in February 2000. I have 3 of my own children, the oldest born in 1984 and the youngest 1992.
All the children I've given birth to were born healthy and free of any defects. This is the ultimate gift of life, and I'm thankful to be a part of helping these wonderful childless couples become a family.
