1. The technology that makes surrogacy possible is relatively new, and like many technologies, it raises ethical questions. As a class, brainstorm and list ethical questions related to surrogacy. Divide the class into groups, and have each group look in depth—including doing additional research—at one of the issues. Report to the class on your issue. Given what you've learned, do you think surrogacy should continue? Why or why not? What kinds of regulations, if any, do you think should govern it?

2. Underline the parts of the article where the surrogates discuss their feelings about what they've done. Write two paragraphs. In the first, explain the positive feelings they have about their experiences. In the second, explain the negatives. Which make the most sense to you? Write your answer in a letter to the editor responding to the cover story.
