Clinton outwardly confident, even as hopes dim
Hillary Rodham Clinton was just warming up the crowd in a cramped and muggy middle school gymnasium when she switched her pronouns.
"All the kitchen table issues that everybody talks to me about are ones that the next president can actually do something about," Clinton said Sunday night, "if he actually cares about it."
The word hung in the air only for a moment.
"More likely, if she cares about it," she added.
Was it a dramatic turn of phrase or a slip of the tongue? A way to spotlight gender on Mother's Day or a sign that the public doubts about her campaign have taken root?
West Virginia is expected to deliver Clinton a big win Tuesday, but her campaign is not as confident as it once was. In the week since Democratic rival Barack Obama trounced her in North Carolina, Clinton has been closely watched for signs that her campaign's dwindling hopes have gotten to her.

Comment: Smear Campaign...and by Hillary? No way, it is mostly due to the media and Obama and Michelle's loose lips (....cling to their guns or their religion; ...this is a mean country...; for the first time I'm finally proud of my country....slips taken as elitist remarks), their association with the Trinity United Church of Christ for 20 yrs, a separatist church (where did Obama learn about uniting people in a church like this ?).. Then there are of the associations that Obama has had with other questionable relationships, whether it be business related or personal or both (e.g. terrorist Ayers, slumlord Rezko, list goes on) and we are not to listen to any of this? We should at least follow the stories to see how Obama reacts to them (not a good job when it came to how he --eventually--disowned Rev Wright after 6 weeks when he finally did when he had to for political reasons cuz Wright was all over the TV speeking at a huge engagement captured by the Press. Now , the latest we are hearing that the new pastor Otis Moss of his TUCC church is picking up where his last Rev Wright left off by going into a lynching spiel in his sermon inferred to be about his spirital mentor. Do a search on the Internet for the new Rev. of the TUCC and listen to his sermons. The words that came out of Rev. Wrights mouth were not specific to just this one man. It is the teachings and beliefs that come through in the weekly gospels that are conducted at that church. There is no way that Obama does not have the same feeling in his soul like the next pastor that comes along or the cheering members of this church as they exalt their Pastor over rantings of negative sermons. I just can't in my gut feel that Obama does not have that vision /teachings in his life over 20 yr.
