McCain, of being the establishment candidate for the Republican party. But there is a major void in the Republican race waiting to be filled. A recent Strategic Vision poll of likely Republican caucus-goers in Iowa found that a sizable majority (54% to 37%) favored "withdrawal of all United States military from Iraq within the next six months." Other than Ron Paul, however, there is no Republican in the race speaking for these voters on this issue.

McCain's Character -- A Disaster Waiting To Happen
    by John LeBoutillie
Ronald Kessler's excellent piece in Newsmax on Senator John McCain's erratic and explosive temper is 100% dead on target. As someone who has known McCain for 32 years, I can unequivocally state that he should be no where near the Oval Office.

His behavior through the years tells us all we need to know: he is a spoiled brat-turned adult who demeans people who dare to disagree with him; he has an explosive temper that can erupt on a nanosecond's notice; he is a total liar who will tell you something one day and then totally deny it the next (more on that below); he is a political chameleon who is enabled by the so-called Main Stream Media; he is also a megalomaniac whose former POW status has allowed him to get away with things -- i.e. the Keating Five Scandal -- that others would have gone to jail for.

In sum, McCain is a disaster waiting-to-happen.

Now, a story: in 1990-1991 I had the great privilege to meet and ultimately befriend retired Air Force Colonel Ted Guy. Ted had been a POW in Vietnam for over six years -- after being shot down and captured in Laos and driven on the Ho Chi Minh Trail to Hanoi. Ted became famous as the war ended as he tried to bring changes against several of his fellow US POWs who he thought had cooperated with the North Vietnamese while in captivity; after coming home in 1973 his superiors decided not to press charges. But Ted was forever branded a "real hard ass" because of this incident.

For a while Ted was the Senior Ranking Officer (SRO) in -- I believe -- The Plantation (a POW camp on the outskirts of Hanoi) in which John McCain was also being held.

The SRO kept the chain of military order among the POWs; they took orders from him and kept discipline that way.

When I got to know Ted Guy, the US Senate Select Committee on POWs was being organized; McCain was named a member. Ted Guy's thoughts -- then -- about McCain? "John was a good troop in camp."

Ted Guy -- since repatriation in 1973 -- had discounted any chance that living US POWs were left behind in Vietnam after the January 27, 1973 Paris Peace Agreements. In fact, by his own admission, Ted often became gruff with MIA family members who asked him if their loved one might have been left behind in captivity. "I told them there was no chance and they needed to get a life."

This was the same message many of the former POWs were delivering to relatives of the thousands of men who did not come home in Operation Homecoming: "Forget it... we are the only living men... give it up and move on with your lives." Of course, that was easy for them to say: they had come home!!!

The US Government never officially briefed the returning POWs about the egregious violations of the Paris Peace Accords -- by both Hanoi and Washington DC. Washington refused to pay the $4.25 billion President Nixon secretly promised in a February 1, 1973 letter to Premier Pham Van Dong -- and kept hidden from the Congress for three years; Hanoi failed to release the other group of 600 US POWs they were holding as an insurance policy against these funds.

If the truth had been told to our returning heros, they would probably have led the charge for the return of their comrades; but they were not told. Instead they were sent out to America's heartland as the war heros we so desperately needed -- McCain and Ted Guy included.

Except that Ted Guy was intellectually honest enough to read all the new revelations that began surfacing in the 1980's; by 1991 he had seen enough. "I was lied to," he told me. "I am now certain we knowingly left men behind in captivity." Ted also got a fellow former POW, Terry Uyeyama, to join our little 'group' as we went around DC trying to get the US Government to reverse policy and negotiate for the living men still being held in Vietnam and

    Then McCain entered the picture.

As the Senate Committee heated up -- and more and more new information surfaced showing that indeed we did leave men behind held against their will in Vietnam and Laos -- McCain began a long and vicious campaign to discredit and shoot down any new information or anyone advocating that the truth about our POWs be made public. Thus emerged for many to see the mean and ugly side of John McCain.

Ted Guy, his old Senior Ranking Officer and friend and admirer, soon changed his mind about McCain.

A series of odd phone calls to Ted in Missouri from McCain made him question the truthfulness and sanity of McCain. "John would call me one day and say something... and then he'd call a few days later and I'd ask him about what he'd said on the first call and John would completely deny ever saying it!"

So Ted Guy began recording all his phone calls from McCain. "I don't trust him anymore," said Colonel Guy. "I think he is a total liar."

From these taped calls, Ted soon discovered a frequent pattern: McCain often denied things he has just said only a few days earlier!

How to explain this? A liar or a total nut? Or both?

Sadly, Ted Guy died of leukemia 7 years ago. A healthy Ted Guy today could have and would have stood up and told the truth about John McCain -- and had the former-POW status to take McCain on.

McCain these days goes unchecked -- either about his truthfulness or his sanity. Ron Kessler has opened the topic of McCain's explosive and dangerous temper to further public scrutiny. In Ron's story are traces of the lies and denials and admissions -- all at the same time!

In sum, John McCain is not the man for the presidency. He is a fraud.

Yes, he would beat Hillary one on one. And we can't have her either.

But before everyone rushes to sign up for McCain's campaign, let's take a break and learn more about McCain the man and his character.

Once you get to 'know' this man, you will agree: he must be defeated by a real Reagan conservative for the GOP nomination.

On March 26, McCain gave a speech on foreign policy in Los Angeles that was billed as his most comprehensive statement on the subject. It contained within it the most radical idea put forward by a major candidate for the presidency in 25 years. Yet almost no one noticed.

In his speech McCain proposed that the United States expel Russia from the G8, the group of advanced industrial countries. Moscow was included in this body in the 1990s to recognize and reward it for peacefully ending the cold war on Western terms, dismantling the Soviet empire and withdrawing from large chunks of the old Russian Empire as well. McCain also proposed that the United States should expand the G8 by taking in India and Brazil-but pointedly excluded China from the councils of power.

We have spent months debating Barack Obama's suggestion that he might, under some circumstances, meet with Iranians and Venezuelans. It is a sign of what is wrong with the foreign-policy debate that this idea is treated as a revolution in U.S. policy while McCain's proposal has barely registered. What McCain has announced is momentous-that the United States should adopt a policy of active exclusion and hostility toward two major global powers. It would reverse a decades-old bipartisan American policy of integrating these two countries into the global order, a policy that began under with Beijing and continued with Moscow. It is a policy that would alienate many countries in Europe and Asia who would see it as an attempt by Washington to begin a new cold war.

Comment: Here is another classic case of "Don't Know the Facts Obama". B Hussein here mentions that "...we're facing the largest homecoming since the Second World War." What is he basing this statement on? Is he reminding us of thefact that when US forces returned from Korea and Vietnam that they weren't homecomongs like WWII..? Like they weren't heroes..? Or is he "pumping-up" the masses to say that when they come home (because of continued Bush Doctrine, nothing of his doing), it will be because the American people wanted them home so he delivers regardless of the consequences? Or is it a simple fact that he has no clue what-so-ever that the Iraq War is third on the list of American servicemen to be deployed to hostile areas since WWII? Overall, Vietnam had roughly 3.4 million "tours" served during it's 9 years, and Korea had roughly 2.8 million tours served during its 4 years. In 5 years, Iraq has roughly 1.1 million tours served (tour = one-year deployments, most of these tours are shortened due to casualties, some personnel served multiple-tours). I guess he discounts the more than 6 million vets that served in Korea and Vietnam; yeah, really Presidential material...
MCCAIN 2008..! Vietnam vet and War Hero...

McCain, on the other hand, wants to keep the troops in indefinitely, but does not want to pay up for the GI benefits these troopse deserve. Who is the true patriot?

True patriotism goes beyond merely waving the flag and following the leader. It means honestly deciding what is best for the country - regardless of what the political polls say. Obama is the true patriot. McCain and his friends are profiteering from this war.

And, if you look at it, more than the majority of your Congress (Demo & rep) have supported him every step of the way. even now, with a majority House & Senate, there is still unwavering majority support for the war. Two years ago, dems "won" seats based upon bringing the troopps home and "change" (hmmm, sound familiar) yet, reality of the situation has hit them squarely between the eyes, just like what will happen with the next President, be he Dem or Rep - that being Bush Doctrine is sound policy, despite what the "majority" of the American public beleives. MCCAIN 2008..!

Are there any policy positions that he holds that should require us to lower our opinion of him in comparison to McSame?

Do statements made by his Pastor really disqualify him for the candidacy? Does a passing, tangential acquaintance with a Weather Underground member also equally disqualify him? Does his refusal to wear a flag-lapel pin really allow us to question his patriotism?

I'm asking because, as hard as it might be, I could vote for Hillary in Nov....especially against McSame (Bush's third term). No amount of scorn that I have for Hillary could make me vote for McSame. I'm not saying that I wouldn't stay home in Nov. but I could never vote for the Republican in the race.

Comment: Pearsoncrz states that Carter was a "nice guy, terrible president" and ThreeNewCandidates says that Carter was "a good man with high hopes" who "accomplished nothing" while he was in office. If you are 50 years or older, surely you remember how Carter brought peace to the Middle East. And you must remember how very threatening that was to certain factions like the religious right in Iran, who had just overthrown the Shah. They wanted the drama to continue (and they had some legitimate grievances against the US, since we had been controlling Iran through the Shah) so they took American hostages to sabotage the peace, and OPEC jacked the price of oil and turned down the US oil supply for a while, to scare Americans enough not to re-elect Carter. If you are over 50, you must remember standing in line for hours during the 70s, waiting to buy gasoline. Trust me, it will only get worse in the future as the oil supply actually runs out. The party is over, people.

When will America wake up and rid ourselves of our dependancy on oil?

If we want to remain the "land of the free" we better start investing in renewable energy, NOW.

You ask, who would vote for Obama instead of McCain?

The answer: ANYONE WHO WANTS A STRONG AMERICA, FREE OF OIL DEPENDENCY.

    Comment:

Today's headline: "McCain Acknowledges Global Warming and Urges Nuclear Power to Combat it."

I am SO GLAD that John McCain has acknowledged the reality of global warming. However, his supposition that nuclear power is "clean energy" is absurd.

Clean energy doesn't leave behind deadly radioactive rods to be disposed of. Clean energy isn't subject to nuclear fallout, meltdowns and explosions. Clean energy doesn't cause birth defects and cancer. Clean energy can't be subverted into nuclear weapons of mass destruction.

Effective clean energy technologies created to date are solar, wind, hydroelectric and hydrogen fuel cells. Ethanol is not clean energy, as it takes immense amounts of energy to create fuel this way, and the big corporate farmers pollute with excessive chemical fertilizers and pesticides. However, it can help us transition our economy away from oil dependency and as such it is an excellent stop gap, especially if we use cellulose ethanol rather than corn based ethanol.

McCain is woefully uninformed about the realities of our energy problems and their potential solutions. McCain is woefully uninformed about the economy, and still hasn't come up with any plans for combatting the recession, paying down the national debt, and restoring lost jobs. McCain is woefully misguided about the war, and wants to pursue a hawkish military policy even though the vast majority of Americans are against this.

I respect McCain and the sacrifices he has made for our country. But right now, we need someone ready to roll up their sleeves and work on our current problems. Someone who can make America stronger before we go down the tubes with our oil dependency, our failure to recognize the shifting global economy, and our blatantly wrong-headed foreign policy. McCain is not that man. I'm a Republican and I'm voting for Obama.

    Dear Jack3213,

It's obvious that Change in the economy, health care coverage, homeland security and the tax code will not happen on day one. That's indisputable. What is also indisputable is that Senator McCain is intelligent and experienced; he is, and so are his democratic opponents, Senators Clinton and Obama, alike. The credibility of anyone running for office, however, including John McCain, is speculative, at best. If a democrat is elected (and Senator McCain is not allowed to follow in the footsteps of his predecessor), your drawn conclusion that a weaker economy will follow is rash and reflects your own insecurity. No economist, Milton Friedman, included, can augur or foretell this from an election. That nearly 50 million Americans have no health care coverage is already unacceptable. Voters are not privy to Homeland Security, so your prediction, on that matter is weak and of little or no practical value. Comment: HUH? There is are an approved number of states who are permitted to have their primairies before Feb. 5, they have been approved that way for years. Living in Florida I can say that it was our Republican Congress that decided the primary needed to be pushed up. They were informed, as was the state DNC that our delegates would not be seated if they may this last minute primary change. As a republican congress they don't care so they changed it. This isn't about Hillary or Barack, this is about rules made by our state that conflicted with the rules of the DNC.

Comment: It is a sad day in American history when our Democratic country does not allow people in these United States to vote. We not only preach to other countries about our Democratic process and how everyone has a say and that money cannot buy a country's leader yet here and now in our society this is exactly what is happening. Those voters did not have a say in the how the process works and it was not their fault that this happened, they are Americans with a voice, a voice that needs to be heard like every other American across this United States. The object for punishment and or fine should be the state government that invoked this. And Obama himself, took his name off the running ticket, did the American people forget that? Is the media being bought off and are they prejudiced in their portrayal of each candidate? Yes, and their fairness and portraying the news has been altered and manipulated and misconstrued. Never in America history has a candidate for Presidency for these United States been so poorly treated, vastly misquoted, prejudged and insulted as to their integrity, honesty, and devotion to this country than in the instance of Hillary Clinton. The young voters are smart and are starting to realize that this campaign has not been fair, democratic, and that the media has manipulated them and their voices are not being heard. It would not surprise anyone if there was demonstrations on all college campuses across this country in favor of Hillary Clinton. Martin Luther King once said, "The people of this United States of America will guide this country forward, on a path that will unite us all!" Gender and race does not play this ticket any longer, only the best candidate for Presidency of this United States, one the American people can be proud of, one that will take us on that forward path that will not only unite us but lead us to the future! The American people are speaking, their voice is being heard, and the media needs to start listening. God Bless America and we pray for her to become united at last. "America, fly your flags high and proudly outside your homes, register to vote, walk a mile for your candidate, bring this country back to the Democratic process that is fair and just and let your voice be heard."

Comment: Hillary is playing politics, the worst kind of low-ball politics.

I am white, and female, and middle aged, and Republican, and I am voting for OBAMA.

Hillary insults both women and whites when she asserts that we are all both racist and stupid.

Get a life, Hillary, and stop pandering to the least common denominator. One of the reasons I am disaffected from the Republican party is because of the way they have tried to manipulate the gun-toting bible-thumping undereducated electorate.

A true leader will unite people around a higher cause, not divide them along lines of distrust and hatred.

Obama is a true leader, and a true Christian. Anyone who can't see this is falling victim to media manipulation. Hillary is imitating the tactics that dragged the once-proud GOP into the mud, and away from the hearts and minds of millions of thinking Republicans.

I still uphold Republican values. The good old-fashioned ones that founded our republic. And I am voting for Obama, who is truest to these values, despite his liberal ideas.

Comment: It has been a long battle, but clearly it's time to unite the Democratic party. Hillary has no chance of winning the nomination and I'm very concerned that her ongoing efforts to beat Senator Obama are really going to hurt our chances of winning in November. I don't understand how she can claim to support the party and the eventual nominee, but then continue her efforts to divide the party for what I feel are selfish reasons.

I do understand that many voters believe that we should wait until everyone votes, but we've had many presidential primaries in which the nominees were determined long before many states voted. Unless we change the process and have all primaries on the same day, that is how it will always be. It seems that the Clinton campaign is doing more harm than good.

This to me, further demonstrates that Clinton sees this as a male vs female contest, when in fact in reality it is a contest about who is the better candidate. She has not lost because she is a female - it's because Obama is a better candidate.

Now here comes the Obama people saying "no let's not do that in the remaining states to vote in the primary or in florida or Michigan." I've been a party activitst, working in many elections and campaigns, and I believe that whle Obama has brought in some "new people" these newbies don't understand the core belief of the Demmocratic Party which is"Let the people vote. This is their government, not one candidate's government." So let Hillary stay in until Obama actually reaches the winning number of delegates. Let the people have a vocie. Is Obama's followers and campaign and p.r. workers afraid of what the remaining voters have to say?

You're right: we are not Democrats to the extent of ALWAYS supporting ANY Democratic candidate, no matter hoow foul. We do have some principles.

Comment: If you can handle the consequences of 4 more Bush years then I'm ok with that. I always knew that Barack was going to face an uphill battle in this country, and that he had way more faith in this country than I do. As far as Wright, he's won many awards for his community service and was invited to the White House several times during the Clinton administration so obviously he's not always this characature we've seen of late. What exactly do you think Barack is going to do, insitutute white slavery? In addition, if you don't think the Clintons have many many many dark skeletons in their closests then you haven't done enough research. I think everyone has the right to use their vote as they wish. Clinton has made no secret of the fact that her supporters are older Americans and white Americans with no college degree. As a young educated American I know that we as young people are going to inherit the messes created by the generation before us, that's why we've come out enmasse for Barack Obama because he represents our chance to make a change in what we're going to be left to handle. However, if America is not ready I'm confident we will be ready eventually to move forward because in not too long we will outnumber Clinton supporters, there will be more young than old, and more Americans with an education than not. And considering that we've had members and supporters of the KKK as President I really find this obsession with Jeremiah Wright a bit funny.

  • Posted By: Fl_girl151 @ 05/12/2008 8:15:34 AM

Comment: This race is basically over, but Clinton has the right to keep fighting, especially since at this point she's spending her own money. As long as she keeps her focus on why she is better than McCain because on policy she and Barack have mainly minute differences and that will come down to getting the votes from Congress anyway. I'm confident she will rally around the nominee because no one wants to see Dems take back the White House more than her. For all of her supporters who claim they will vote for McCain if Barack is the nominee, then you're not really a Democrat in the first place. If you can tolerate 4 years of $5/gallon gas, don't mind sending your kids to war once a draft is instituted (virtually required if we are going to be in Iraq for 100 years, address Iran, North Korea, maintain a military presence at home, and continue our current military obligations), are ok with the US education system falling further and further behind the rest of the World, and are at peace with the erosion of your rights here at home, I say, more power to you. Vote however you want to vote, I just think that a lot of people are angry right now, and once the nominee is picked and people start to consider the devastation of the Bush administration, and the peril our country is facing economically Democrats will unite to take back the White House.

No way, it is mostly due to the media and Obama and Michelle's loose lips (....cling to their guns or their religion; ...this is a mean country...; for the first time I'm finally proud of my country....slips taken as elitist remarks), their association with the Trinity United Church of Christ for 20 yrs, a separatist church (where did Obama learn about uniting people in a church like this ?).. Then there are of the associations that Obama has had with other questionable relationships, whether it be business related or personal or both (e.g. terrorist Ayers, slumlord Rezko, list goes on) and we are not to listen to any of this? We should at least follow the stories to see how Obama reacts to them (not a good job when it came to how he --eventually--disowned Rev Wright after 6 weeks when he finally did when he had to for political reasons cuz Wright was all over the TV speeking at a huge engagement captured by the Press. Now , the latest we are hearing that the new pastor Otis Moss of his TUCC church is picking up where his last Rev Wright left off by going into a lynching spiel in his sermon inferred to be about his spirital mentor. Do a search on the Internet for the new Rev. of the TUCC and listen to his sermons. The words that came out of Rev. Wrights mouth were not specific to just this one man. It is the teachings and beliefs that come through in the weekly gospels that are conducted at that church. There is no way that Obama does not have the same feeling in his soul like the next pastor that comes along or the cheering members of this church as they exalt their Pastor over rantings of negative sermons. I just can't in my gut feel that Obama does not have that vision /teachings in his life over 20 yr.

She hopes this would give her some increase in the popular vote as argument. But as President Carter stressed on "Larry King Live", the popular vote is meaningless in primaries because Republicans can vote in many states. ONLY delegates count, and nothing else.

I don't like the fact that Obama has such a liberal voting record, supports driver licenses, won't cover adults on healthcare ETC. How many of the his supporters have health insurance? Since they are all college educated eltiists, they probably don't care about everyone else who can't afford it.

We need universal healthcare to include the adults. Our seniors are not going away. In fact they are healthier now then in the past. Its the younger ones who are dying sooner not the elders. The elders take care of themselves.

Comment: Approximately 33 million people voted in the Democratic race up to date. Out of the 33 million people 16.5 million voters casted their votes for HIllary Clinton. 84 thousand voters less then Obama with 6 contests to go.....and the political machine which has long been dominated by men is now urging the first viable woman president to drop out of the race. A lesser person would give in to the pressure even when she is only .26% behind but HIllary is not less of anything and I believe voters can see that. How in the world can anyone explain the idea that 16.5 million voters casted their votes for HIllary even while the country's major media networks and the DNC male political heads has all been calling her to quit? What exactly are voters thinking and know that the pundits do not?.............perhaps the urgency for real change and not just inexperience empty promises.

    • Posted By: Jrmapu @ 05/10/2008 10:14:34

Mind you alot of Obama voters are the ones to cross over to vote against Hillary because she is the stronger of the two against McCain.

Comment: This race is going to turn super duper ugly! As much as I hate to say it, the Republicans have shown way more leadership than the Democrats! Due to inept leadership, it appears that the Democrats will lose again this year!

The media is talking about Clinton like she is an afterthought. And that is SOOO not true. IN all honesty, Obama's performance is in Clinton's hand. Clinton supporters are needed to win the White House! And let me tell you this, WE don't like how the media and how the leaders of the Democratic party treated Clinton! We see the biasness! Most of us also WILL NOT vote for Obama NOT because he is black (I am black as well) but because he is inexperienced and the ONLY reason he is in the lead is because many leaders in he democratic party and the media, in my opinion, worked together to try to kill Clinton chances and the tool they used to do that was Obama! Obama is weak and he can not stand on his own. IF he is not in a "pro Obama" setting, he crumbles and then what happens, the media, his surrogates and wife shields him! This man can't even debate Clinton...yet he have the nerve to say he is the best person to beat John MCCain! Yet, he want CLinton supporters to support him! Are you serious?! NO WAY HOSAY!

One blogger said Clinton didn't leave the Democratic party but the Democratic PArty left Clinton. I TOTALLY agree with that statement! I also sincerely hope she decides to run independent! THe Democratic PArty Sucks! Howard Dean needs to be removed as chairman! I have voted Democrat all my life but after this election, I see that I will be changing my status to independent and I will vote for John McCain if Clinton don't run independent. The DNC has really screwed themselves with this process! NO LOVE FOR THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY or their chosen one, Obama!!

Comment: A little hint to the grand old wise Dem party leaders. Dems don't get Florida and/or Michigan in the general election , you get no White House. Very simple math to understand except the Dem party is too stupid to see the equation.

Anyways, here's a question for someone with intelligence and factual information at their disposal.

Question: Its been stated several times by Barack Hussein Obama in his campaign that as President , he plans to devote $150 Billion into the creation of these " Green " jobs. Can someone in the Obama campaign say how he will get all this money , what is a ' Green ' job , how many will be created and how much does it pay ?

If the Obama campaign can't answer this then we'll have fun watching John McCain take Obama to town on this during the general election. Neat uh ?

Her only concern is winning and she???s selfishly playing on people???s emotions to accomplish this and to justify her own actions.

Comment: xeyeldinTX, I totally agree with your logic, but it is HRC who is persistently throwing attacks towards Obama, who at this time is dodging them and at the same time concentrating on winning the election against McCain. Comment: To consider Hillary Clinton as the strongest Democratic candidate for president is to neglect understanding her real personality and is to fail to recognize the costs that entails. What she tries to sell as being strong is an aggressive, arrogant, argumentative, stubborn, dishonest, divisive and totally self-absorbed personality that Republicans can not only fault but also contrast to John McCain's better ability to be diplomatic and reasonable. Maybe the best way to see it is to abstractly put her side-by-side with GWBush and his, now recognized and greatly faulted, undesirable sociopathic personality and see how while the agendas may be different, the personalities are the same. I don't really think their is any credit to be given there.

Comment: I am all for Sen. Clinton finishing out the race, giving all people a say in the matter. But she now needs to focus on campaigning against Sen. McCain. It is time that both set aside the ugly politics and attack the real opponent. If then, by some outside chance Sen. Obama implodes, then she will win the nomination. But by attacking him, she makes herself unbelievably small. This claim that she can win in November, though, is farfetched. How can she win a majority of America when she can't win a majority of her own party?

Comment: That is the point. She is not running against McCain, yet. She needs to get pass Obama to get to McCain. Everyone keeps on shouting the mantra hope and change. Well, there is still a glimmer of hope for her. Hillary is the one true to her word at her cost not anyone else.

Comment: Not one of the 230 economists opposing the temporary tax break has an answer to the problem of soaring gas prices. The predicates for their arguments are so nebulous that rationalizing their repudiation is pure politicization. Recently, Obama rallied the fear of "thousands of job losses" occurring as a result of the temporary tax break. So, antithetically, employment should remain steady if the price of gas maintains equilibrium. One fervent Obama supporter denounced Senator Clinton and claimed that 300,000 jobs would be lost if the tax holiday passed. Again, one can then argue that gasoline tax preserves jobs; if the price of gasoline declined then the number of jobs in America would also wane. I take a train to work so where does factor in this conundrum?

PS I found another zealot. Please peruse his fallacies.

Comment: Are you willing to take a life to save $0.33, or $0.66 a day.
You who think this "GAS TAX HOLIDAY" is the right way to go, are doing just that.

If three months of tax free gas = a $30.00 savings.
You save about .33 cents a day.
If three months of tax free gas = a $60.00 savings.
You save about .66 cents a day.

At the cost of OVER 300,000 jobs. Is this worth that savings?
At the cost of unsafe roads. Where the pot holes will not be repaired because the funds needed for repair are given to you so you can save money everyday. At the cost of lives when a driver loses control of their car because they hit a pot hole and blew a tire, and runs in front of a school bus causing a school bus full of children to go off a cliff, or roll over and burn. But you get your daily savings.
