Comment: Evan, this is totally off the point. He probably thought that he had nothing to explain because he was taking up for Pennsylvanit when asked, why was he having such a problem getting them to back him, racism? He said, no that due to the economic constraints these wedge issues take on greater importance, etc., etc., etc. This story repeatedly gets started wrong and cause more grief than warranted. Harriet

Comment: yes or no anwers to questions show a lack of depth and understanding. Running for president should not be determined by a quiz or survey. I prefer a candidate that is thoughtful and expounds on issues.

Comment: I wish there were more of these illuminating unscripted comments, because it's within these moments that we really learn about the candidate's true beliefs. There are probably a good number of psychologists out there analyzing these unscripted moments. From the "typical white person" comment to this "bitter religious rural person" comment, there is much to chew on, along with his most recent statement that everyone knows what he was trying to say is true. He is a man who clearly thinks he knows what everyone is thinking. But when I read his descriptions of working-class and rural folks, I am offended. And when I read his descriptions of what the typical white person thinks, I am doubly offended. And when he claims that everyone knows what he says is true, I'm flabbergasted.
