Comment: And here's an interesting account that shows Obama's priorities:

In a campaign influenced by Walmart, instead of backing the pro-labor candidate, Obama backed a "Walmart tool."

There was little surprising about Obama???s endorsement given his deeper, interrelated and self-interested allegiances to the politically powerful corporate-neoliberal City Hall regime of Chicago???s Mayor Daley, with whom Obama shares the same big money campaign super-consultant (David Axlerod) and numerous big money sponsors.

For the first time Mayor, Daley vetoed an ordinance by his normally obedient City Council, a measure was widely supported by citizens, community organizations, and labor unions in Chicago's black, Latino, and working-class wards. Originally passed by the council under pressure from a remarkable grassroots campaign, it would have required giant retail corporations like Wal-Mart, Target, Lowes, and Home Depot to pay workers a modest minimum wage of ten dollars an hour by 2010.

Wal-Mart and Target announced that they were putting a number of ???big box??? retail developments on hold in Chicago, and launched a preemptive public relations strike, threatening to disinvest in the city unless a ???favorable business climate??? was restored. Daley made a special point of wrapping his veto in the flag of racial justice, claiming it was required to permit the flowering of economic development in the city???s abandoned ghetto neighborhoods.

Pat Dowell, the recipient of significant support from the Service Employees??? International Union (SEIU), was running against Tillman in the name of working families and economic justice. Dowell strongly criticized Tillman for siding with Daley and Wal-Mart.

Obama needed the support of the powerful campaign finance magnet Daley, and endorsed Tillman, over the principled, serious and labor-backed Dowell.

Obama???s wife Michelle then received $51,200 in 2006 for attending a few board meetings of TreeHouse Foods, a giant firm that relied heavily on its close business relationship with Wal-Mart (The granting of high-pay/do-little board posts to the spouses of politicians is a longstanding tool of the ???old,??? corporate-dominated politics that Senator Obama claims to reject). Mrs. Obama resigned from this position in the summer of 2007, citing ???increased demands on her time??? in connection with her husband???s presidential campaign. It isn't surprising that she cut her politically damaging ties to a notoriously anti-labor company that her husband was attacking in speeches to please popular audiences concerned about the growing chasm between the rich and poor in the U.S.

Comment: Obama often says he put down the wrong thing in error. examples:

Barack Obama angered fellow Democrats in the Illinois Senate when he voted to strip millions of dollars from a child welfare office on Chicago's West Side. But Obama had a ready explanation: He goofed. "I was not aware that I had voted no," he said that day in June 2002, asking that the record be changed to reflect that he "intended to vote yes."

On March 19, 1997, Obama announced he had fumbled an election-reform vote the day before, on a measure that passed 51 to 6: "I was trying to vote yes on this, and I was recorded as a no," he said.

On March 20, 1997, Obama voted "present" on a key telecommunications vote.
HEY CWA members, WAKE UP and smell the TRUTH ABOUT OBAMA.

He stood on March 11, 1999, to take back his vote against legislation to end good-behavior credits for certain felons in county jails. "I pressed the wrong button on that," he said.

He was the lone dissenter on Feb. 24, 2000, against 57 yeas for a ban on human cloning. "I pressed the wrong button by accident," he said.

On Nov. 14, 1997, he backed legislation to permit riverboat casinos to operate even when the boats were dockside. The measure, pushed by the gambling industry and fought by church groups whose support Obama was seeking, passed with two "yeas" to spare -- including Obama's. He wasn't exactly up front with his constituency, telling a church group on a 1998 campaign questionnaire that he was "undecided" about whether he backed an expansion of riverboat gambling. The senator who led the opposition to the gambling measure, Republican Todd Sieben, said "He was obviously paying attention to this vote. It was a major, major issue in the state, and it was a long debate," Sieben said. "The inadvertent 'Oops, I missed the switch' -- I'd be kind of skeptical of that."

Comment: Comment: Two of the questions ABC asked Wednesday were related to subjects that have largely been met with media yawns. One was Obama's casual association with 1960s era radicals and would-be bomb-setters William Ayers and Bernadine Dohrn: What is the nature of his relationship?

"Another was about a questionnaire from a 1996 legislative race in which he endorsed a ban on handguns. Obama said the questionnaire was filled out by someone else and was in error about his views at the time. But it was later found that his handwriting was on the document: What gives?"

"One can dispute the relevance of these stories, though it seems certain they will be of interest to many moderate voters Obama would need in the fall, but it is indisputable that if Clinton was facing similar questions they would be the subject of constant and all-consuming coverage. There is an obvious double standard."

I wish more Quakers would pay attention to the facts published by FCNL, and not support any of the pro-war candidates.

    Comment:

As much as I can't stomach Ed Rendell (I think that he is racist and a slippery opportunist), I do have to stand up for his comments about the Nation of Islam in Philadelphia. Remember, he made his comments in 1997, before 9/11 (which was 2001), and in 1997 the average American wasn't threatened by the Islamic faith. Even more importantly, I lived in Philly until 1998, and I can tell you that the Nation of Islam did GREAT things for the Afro-Americans in Philly, helping them to get off drugs, leading them into stable families, and decreasing crime/increasing safety in the black neighborhoods, which were some of the poorest in America. There were parts of Philly that looked like a city that had been bombed. Zombie children were in the streets, selling drugs. It was horrible, and the nation of Islam stepped in and helped these neighborhoods. Rendell was right to praise them for that.

However, Rendell praised not just the Muslims of Philadelphia, but also praised Louis Farrakhan, which was a mistake. Rendell is a two-faced liar when he acts like it is a sin that Farakkhan made a statement supporting Obama, when in fact Rendell supported Farrakhan, and Obama did not support Farrakhan and did not ask for his support. In fact, Obama publicly spoke out against Farrakhan.

Just because SOME Muslims are jihadists doesn't mean that Islam isn't a real religion with strong values and the desire to do good in the world. Read some of the poems by the Muslim prophet Rumi, who not only talks about his amazing relationship with God, but also praises Christ frequently. Most Muslims are prayerful, good hearted people who live clean lives.

ANY religion can be manipulated into something ugly. Remember the Spanish Inquisition? Or take a listen to the hateful bigotry of HolyRoller, blogging on this website. He's a Christian too, but not one I would want to worship with.

Let us not forget to praise what is good in other religions, even as we keep our eyes open to watch the activities of the bad elements. Although Farrkhan has to some extent redeemed himself since the 1960s, I would never fully trust him. However, I can distrust him without condemning all Muslims.

Comment: These testimonials highlight Senator Clinton's qualifications, experience, and strength of character.

    General Wesley Clark:

"She has done her homework on national security and I know from my personal discussions with her and with many other friends that go in and brief her in her role in the Senate Armed Services Committee. She knows the facts, she knows the details, plus she has the big picture. She is a strategic thinker but she has the building blocks of the strategy in her personal knowledge. This is someone that when she is president our military is going to respect very highly, and when our Senior Officers brief her and meet with her they are going be very, very impressed by what she knows and the intelligence that she brings to these problems."

    Brigadier General John Watkins, Jr.

"As I think about the challenges facing the nation and having been in uniform for almost thirty years, worked with a number of presidents to include the last four, I can't think of a single person - those generals included - who's better qualified to walk into the Oval Office than Hillary Clinton. I don't make that statement very lightly. She is more qualified, in my view, than her husband Bill was when he entered the office. It is no surprise to me that you would have as many flag officers who serve this country and Secretaries of the Army and Navy who have served this country who would come out and support Hillary."

Comment: What about violence to the unborn? Talk about being double-minded and speaking out of both sides of your mouth. A little less than 1 million babies were aborted in the U.S. last year. How many people died in Iraq? Perhaps Quakerism is really just a religious front for Chamberlinism.

Comment: With court about to start, why is the media not covering this.

Seven years ago Peter Paul began whistleblowing to the government and alerting the media of numerous illegalities committed by Hillary and Bill Clinton in order to win Hillary???s first election to public office.

The multi-million dollar donor to Hillary???s Senate campaign that caused Hillary???s finance director to be indicted and tried in May, 2005, for hiding his contributions, and whose complaint to the FEC resulted in a finding that Hillary???s campaign broke the law resulting in the only FEC fine imposed against Hillary???s campaign, will begin the discovery process leading to a trial in Los Angeles later this year of the Clintons and others for destroying Paul???s public company.

The Quakers are WONDERFUL people. I used to live a few block from the Greene St. Meeting House mentioned in this article (I think it actually is in the Mt. Airy section of Philadelphia, not in Germantown as described by Newsweek).

But anyway, they don't talk about politics. They talk about peace.

Religious figures like Wright are mentally ill! Don't judge the disabled so swiftly! I say that because anyone who truely believes there is some magical place called heaven or some ultra-torturious place called hell is mentally disabled. People are Democrat or Replublican because of the core values each party bring to the table. I can't understand how someone could think that because their "favorite" democrat didn't win the Replublican candidate would be a better fit!!! HELLO, do you really think John McCain would give a crap about what the Democrats want and need? NO. SO essentailly you're either a Hillacrat or someone that whines win they loss.

For the record my candidate (Joe Biden) is out of the race. But just because the person with the most experience and honesty didn't make it this far hasn't caused me to run out and switch my party!!!!

Comment: What I fail to see is how the divide between Democrats and Republicans is greater than the divide between Obama and Clinton. They are ALL the same. They will say WHATEVER they have to say to get elected. Hillary has done a complete 180 on the war, and I don't believe it reflects a genuine change of heart nor does it reflect the wishes of her supporters ( BIG Financial Supporters, I mean). They Know Full Well, that it's just rhetoric. Obama is a man after more war. He is surrounded by the very people who engineered, supported and encourage the war AND MORE WARS............
I only have to quote McCain to see where his loyalties lie. "How About 100 years, I have no problem with that". "Yes, I'm afraid there will be more wars"
Where is even the mention of the ONE candidate who is and Has Been Against the War from the start?

Make me an an organizer or something like that and then a Senator and we can put it together while I pretend to be an Illinois senator and you do the rest and I'll just BS the rest of the way. Thanks!

Comment: If we are only going to vote for honest people who will keep his/her word, then we have no one to vote for. They all are liars. Hillary is a liar, Obama is a liar, McCain is a liar.
I guess it comes down to who is the biggest liar. I think Obama and Hillary run a close race as to who can tell the most lies. For some reason Obama either hits the wrong button to vote in the Senate or does not recall much. Obama has a very bad memory for a man his age. Hillary thinks she is being shot at when she is not. Poor McCain.....well we all know he is old and can't remember even who we are at war with.
So liars is not the choice. They all lie or mislead the truth. But when I consider how Obama has no patriotism......I must vote for someone who loves AMerica and wants to defend and protect America. I must vote for Hillary. If not Hillary, then I will cross over to Republican and vote McCain. I will not vote for Anti America Obama on any ticket.

Comment: The next President of the USA. must be a level-headed, judicious, well balanced personality,
who does not rush to fight dumb wars, which only fill the bank accounts of the status quo, while draining the pockets of the average citizens, bringing sorrow and tragedy to millions of families for no justifiable
reasons., making America more unsafe and hated all over the world.
The next President must be able to differentiate between a smart war and a dumb war. Emphasis should be laid on diplomatic symphonies played in global harmony by a United Nations orchestra. War, multilateral, NOT unilateral, should always be the last resort! He or she must always tell the people the truth, not deceive and mislead them, to advance his or her own private interests.
8 years of Bush have practically driven the country into a ditch. It´s time to turn the page!

Comment: I've always wondered what the Quakers were about, who they are. They seem to be very inviting people and at the same time community centered with very strong standards that are in line with the way I see and feel about the world. But even if they looked at it differently, they still sound like very honorable people.
