We will vote McCain in 2008, and will shout of joy when he wins.
Barack Obama is a Niebuhr-reading ESPN watcher. The origins of his troubles with the 'other' tag.

Comment: The rules are set in stone. You can not CHANGE them, if you do not hold the primaries a certain way, then you are out, your delegates are excluded. Michigan and Florida broke the rules. Michigan didn???t even have Obama on the ticket. Hillary is only advocating for this because she thinks it will be in her favor, if it might be in Obama's favor, then she would not advocate this. She is not for the people, she is for herself. And if they did do a revote, the way things are going, she might even lose those states and really be at a lost for words.
Comment: spell check: The numbers dont lie* and the majority of America has spoken.
Comment: Do not count Sen. Clinton out until all the primaries are over and a solution is found to the seating of delegates from Florida and Michigan. When all the primaries are over and when all votes are counted (including in Florida and Michigan primaries), Sen. Clinton would be ahead in the total number of voters, making her claim strong for the support of the superdelegates.
Comment: Obama doesnt have a problem closing the deal, Hillary does. She thought she had this election in the bag, but somehow shes losing in EVERY SINGLE CATEGORY: popular vote, states won (big or small - all states matter), pledge delegates, and super delegates. If she is sooo electable why hasnt she already won? Who cares if she wins West VA, its impossible for her to win this primary. For someone whose against change, she sure wants to change a lot of the rules of this primary in order for it to meet her own needs. Hillary is lucky that Obama doesnt want to play the game shes playing, because when her dirt leaks out, which it will, whatever is done in the darkness will come to light, her image will flop even more.
Bottom line White America is scared of having a Black Man in power, history reveals this. Our country isnt that old, and racism isnt that far gone. Obama has won a lot of states some mostly popluated with Whites, such as Iowa and WY at the same time he has lost in states that were 95% White. Hillary supporters are racist, uneducated and scared and she plays off of their fears. Obama supporters are educated and not afraid of change, if America never embraced changed there would still be segregation laws and who knows what else. So change is good and change is definitely what we need. We dont have to settle for less, settle for the same greedy dirty politicans, we can have more, its not impossible.
If we really want change then we need to change who we elect. Obama 08!
If the tables were turn however, and Obama was losing in EVERY SINGLE CATEGORY, they would MAKE HIM DROP OUT. However, Hillary is getting a pass to keep this process going, why? The media can not say anything else bad about Obama: who is he? how much experience does he have? why wont Whites vote for him? All dumb questions just to keep their shows running, just think, do we really know any of our politicans? NO. There a lot of questions Amercians can ask about Hillary as well: Who is Hillary? What are her views on affirmative action? Why did she invite J. Wright to her house after Bill cheated on her? How long has she been in the senate? Why is her campaign in debt? Why is she paying for her own campaign using some of Bills money? Why did her former pastor go to jail for molesting a child? Why did Hillary lie about what happened in Bosnia? What about M. Penn? If she doesnt know what her own people in her camp are doing, how is she going to run the White House effectively? Even more, if she cant satisfy her Husbend how is she going to satisfy America? Ha The list can keep going for her....but this election isnt about that, atleast not for the Obama camp.
This primary is over, the numbers don't like and the majority of America has spoken. Obama 08!

Comment:
It was only a matter of time!
In this one move, the White House ended McCain's accountability for his use or abuse of the primary public financing system while putting him in position to take money for the general.
For this maneuver to have been arranged for the benefit of Senator McCain, of all people--the John McCain who has regularly, severely criticized the FEC as a "corrupt" agency--is a remarkable turn in his career as a reformer. A Commissioner who acted to enforce the law, to just raise an important question of enforcement, has been stripped of his post. This was clearly in Senator McCain's interest, this raw power play. It is also in his interest to have the FEC, back in business minus Mason, arrange for his money for the fall campaign.
He goes on to make a case that's going to be central to Obama's logic for forgoing public financing, despite his pledge to join the system: That McCain is a hypocrite on this reform issue.
For all the time that McCain has savaged the performance of the FEC, he has LED the sizeable crowd of critics who believed that the agency is too beholden, on the whole, to the narrow interests of parties and their candidates. Yesterday, Republicans could not have acted more narrowly in just this vein: effectively firing a Commissioner to immunize their Presidential nominee from enforcement action in a pending case but making sure that there is enough of an agency left to get him the money needed to finance his campaign.
Comment: Why is that the far left media and other socialists assume that if don't vote for Obama then you are a racist? If you are for Obama fine, vote for him. But stop cramming the racist tag down our throats. Has it ever occurred to some on the far left and who might watch Fox News might be more open minded then you left wingers? Has it ever occurerd to you that the reason that some of us don't like Obama has nothing to do with race? In my case I find Obama so too far to the left that I cannot and will not vote for Obama. That is why I don't want Obama to be our next President. If the far left wants to spin it their way and make it this into a race baiting contest, then go on and have it your way. Incidentally, there seems to be more intolerance and name calling in the far left. So all of Obama's "new kind of politics" is a boat load of crap.
Comment: Obama supporters do like to insult, coerce, and bash democrats who've decided they won't vote for him if he's the nominee in November. His political inexperience, and liberalism; speeches using and following other's words without crediting them; his debate performance; and associations with violent, aggressive, hateful, and vengeful individuals are more reasons we choose NOT to vote for him.

Comment: I thought all the gun-totting, backward, ignorant red-necks were in the south. After reading about people in the north, I guess I'm wrong. Comments that Obama's 'prejudiced against white people', that he doesn't wear a flag pin (even though Clinton and McCain don't), and that he wants to tear out the bowling alley (it was installed by Truman; not Washington) are just ways for these people to justify their own racism. It's people like these that put George Bush in the White House twice. It's no wonder the Republicans have done so well in these areas. They feed on peoples fears and prejudices. They repeat lies until they are accepted as the truth. They pretend to care just long enough to get your vote then pass tax cuts for the uberrich while your standard of living tanks and you get evicted from your house. Go ahead and vote for McCain in 2008. You get what you deserve. Unfortunately, the rest of us will pay the price as well.
Comment: Why is that people on the far left always resort to name calling? If you don't want to vote for Obama, the far left assumes (and we know what happens when we assume) that you are a dumb racist redneck. This letter written by GaLiberal just shows how intolerant and really ignorant the far left is. Has it ever occurred to you or any other of the far left that since Obama is probably the most liberal in the U.S. Senate that this is why many don't want him? It has nothing to do with bowling or driving a pickup truck or chewing tobacco. Even if you are a moderate, the far left can never compromise on anything, Obama has run a slick campaign with empty headed slogans such as "change" and "hope" and the ever nauseating "Yes We Can." Underneath this facade, he wants to raise taxes not just on the wealthy (which I am for) but on the middle class. He talks about how he was against the war in Iraq (which I was to start with) but he also wants the U.S. to play the pacifist role. As I mentioned I was against the war in Iraq in 2003 because I did not feel that it served our best interest. But to pull out now would leave Iraq in a bigger mess than ever before. Do I like everything that McCain says about the war? No I don't. But I do feel that the country would be far safer under McCain than it would be under Obama. Thus, to go by the far left's assertion that if you don't vote for Obama then you are a brainless, narrow minded racist just shows me one thing. The far left seems to be the narrow minded bigots.
Comment: You just proved your bigoted racism. You can use your twisted logic (if that's what you call it) all you want, but it boils down to Obama isn't white so I'm not voting for him. It seems Obama was right on one subject; fear of the black man is still an ingrained knee-jerk response from whites. BTW, I'm white just so you know this isn't some radical black who hates white people. And I don't wear a flag pin either.
Comment: Neos wrote: "In 1976 Jimmy Carter first spoke of the lack of a national health care plan as a "national disgrace." Since that time to the present plans have existed for implementing universal health care in this country. Hillary had a plan in the 90's but it went nowhere - partially due to her stubborn unwillingness to compromise and deal effectively with others; she was convinced that she was the only one who had the right plan (hasn't changed much, has she?)
Neos,
It is important to know about the history of health care reform in the U.S. Noteworthy, in 1993, the Association of American Physicians and Surgeons, an "ultra-right-wing," politically conservative association of physicians and medical professionals, litigiously defeated the Task Force led by First Lady Hillary Rodham Clinton on National Health Care Reform.
This bastion of medical professionals opposes mandatory vaccination, universal health care and government intervention in healthcare. It???s no wonder why nearly 50 million Americans are uninsured.
Much to the dismay of the misanthropic ill-informed, Senator Clinton's early attempts at universal health care were not defeated by HRC's mismanagement or any other purported characterological deficits.
Rather than researching facts, some believe otherwise. The powerful AAPS which believes that there is no right to medical care, and opposes efforts to implement a national health plan defeated the nation???s right to access good health care.
Although 15 million persons might remain uncovered under Senator Obama's plan, that's a much better figure than 50 million, and a move in the right direction.
Comment: We wouldn't have this division in the Democratic party if the DNC applied its rules fairly and used a system that more closely reflected the way our country elects presidents.
First, the inconsistency in the application of rules to the states violating the schedule established for the primaries.
Rule 11.A specifically set the date for the primaries & caucuses for those three states as "no earlier than 22 days before the first Tuesday in February" (Iowa), "no earlier than 14 days before the first Tuesday in February" (New Hampshire), and "no earlier than 7 days before the first Tuesday in February" (South Carolina).
Iowa held their caucuses on January 3rd. That's more than 22 days before the first Tuesday in February. New Hampshire held their primary on January 8th. That's more than 17 days before the first Tuesday in February. And South Carolina held their primary on January 26th. That's more than 7 days before the first Tuesday in February.
Under Rule 11.A., five states were in violation of the Democratic National Committee's Delegate Selection Rules, and as such, all five states should have been punished under Rule 20.C.1.a.
Violation of timing: In the event the Delegate Selection Plan of a state party provides or permits a meeting, caucus, convention or primary which constitutes the first determining stage in the presidential nominating process to be held prior to or after the dates for the state as provided in Rule 11 of these rules, or in the event a state holds such a meeting, caucus, convention or primary prior to or after such dates, the number of pledged delegates elected in each category allocated to the state pursuant to the Call for the National Convention shall be reduced by fifty (50%) percent, and the number of alternates shall also be reduced by fifty (50%) percent. In addition, none of the members of the Democratic National Committee and no other unpledged delegate allocated pursuant to Rule 8.A. from that state shall be permitted to vote as members of the state's delegation. In determining the actual number of delegates or alternates by which the state's delegation is to be reduced, any fraction below .5 shall be rounded down to the nearest whole number, and any fraction of .5 or greater shall be rounded up to the next nearest whole number.
The DNC has alreadly decided not to apply the half delegate penalty to Iowa, SC and NH, so there is no reason to apply it to FL and MI either, and there is absolutely no reason to take away all of the FL and MI delegates.
What this is is blatant sex discrimination. They would never apply the rules differently to disadvantage a black man, but the DNC not only ignores their own pre-established penalty but goes further, all to keep Hillary from winning the nomination.
The DNC will destroy the democratic party if it does not apply the same rule to all of the states.
Count all the votes, seat all the delegates.
Fair is fair
Comment: I will not vote for Obama because he is black, but because of twenty years of listening to hate from Wright, Guilt by Assocation. Let us hear all the tape. In North Carolina there has been a 99% increase in balck voters so you can't tell me this is not about race. They don't care if he has experience which he don't.
I'm not a bigot cause I grew up with blacks, my children went to a school 80% blacks, my neighbor was blac.k. I 've been to black churches and never heard sermoms like Wright's. If he wants to unite the black and whites which I don't think the black will let him, he needs to prove himself by dismantling the NAACP. .

Comment: I am fed up with all of the media, and the DNC, for pushing Obama for election. Had you done your job in the beginning, we would have known the real Obama. We don't like what we see. It is time Newsweek, and the DNC starts respecting the opinions of the voters, and stop pushing their own. I now support Senator Clinton all the way to the white house.

There is no reason to take more than half the delegates as indicated by the rules, and since the DNC has already decided not to enforce the half delegation punishment against SC, Iowa and NH, there is no reason to enforce it against Florida or Michigan either.
Florida, Michigan democrats and Hillary Clinton supporters should expose this for what it is, an attempt to force the nomination of Obama even though it is against the will of the voters. Hillary Clinton has the popular vote if you count Florida and Michigan, and there is nothing in the rules about not counting the popular vote in Florida and Michigan when it comes to deciding who should be the nominee.
Comment: Hi, You Guys at NEWSWEEK! Just checking in again to say that I see you are still doing your darnedest to use your publication as a tool for advancing the nomination of BO --- AND to let you know that IN SPITE OF WHAT YOU ARE DOING, the American people WILL have their OWN say. It might help if you change the name of your rag to BOPWeek -- Barack-Obama-for-President. OR, another possibility is that you could practice REAL EQUALITY and start scrutinizing BO like ANY OTHER HUMAN BEING running for president and quit pandering to him because you are so enamored with the idea that he is "black raised by a single mother". Wake up, Newsweek, you've got wool over your eyes.
Comment: Itsnup to North Carolina and Indiana... Hopefully they have not forgotten all that has surfaced about Obama. The more we learn the less we like.. Its no longer about the great rally's and stump speeches it is about the person and who is truly for the working class. I do not want this man as My President .. I support Hillary. She can stand up against McCain and I believe Obama will not recover when the republicans bring out all the dirt they have on him..... Go Hillary Vote Hillary

Now we owe China an enormous debt., and all of our money, trillions of dollars, has ben wasted on policing Iraq, "for oil", as McCain stated. That territory is worse off than six years ago, what a waste. When will Iraq pay for our Policing Troops?

Comment: Yawn
What kind of Bs Story is this? Obama doesn't appeal to Pre-diabetic, willfully ignorant fools? Isn't that a plus? Bubba's vote got us into this mess. Anybody that has Bubba's backing should be immediately disqualified from the race.
John McCain is worth 100 million dollars. The only reason he is viewed as more in touch than Obama or even Clinton is because of the softball love affair that rags like Newsweek have with him.
The Editorial board of Newsweek not only doesn't care about this country, They thrive on devisivness as a tool to sell magazines and have turned the race for the most important office in the country into a reality show.
Why don't you guys just run some more stories speculating on the Rapture or wether they've found Noah's Ark?

Anyone who would subscribe to such an anti-American, anti-white, left-wing socialist agenda is not fit to become President of the United States.

Newsweek has been so biased in their coverage of this race. Now that the precious, elitist, condescending Obama is behind in the polls you are going to claim its because white people are racist. GIVE ME A BREAK!!! The reason Obama has gotten this far in this race is because of his large base of support of college educated white people. Hillary Clinton is the tougher candidate, Hillary Clinton is the more traditional Democratic candidate, the one who fights for the everyman. Lets leave the GOP to insulting the blue collar worker. As Democrats we need a candidate who understands us and will fight for us; teachers, police officers, middle management, retail, you know, people who are struggling with $700 oil bills, and $200 a week healthcare coverage, and $3.89 at the pump. Newsweek needs to focus on the facts, why the tide is turning against Obama is not because of fearmongering, or because of racism, in fact I would guess the Archie Bunkers you are incinuating these voters are would probably be more likely to vote for a partially black man than a woman anyday. The tide is turning because Obama is a pseudo celebrity. Like a Heidi, or Lauren or Paris. He looks the part, he is young and educated and handsome, he is multicultural and as we want to erase our past white male dominated, out of touch government he is the perfect candidate. However being president is not as easy as getting your own reality show, you need to do a bit more than look the part, and it is frustrating that everytime he is called upon to do more than just that, Newsweek and many other formerly reputable media outlets start the "poor Obama, Hillary is sooo mean" machinisms.
Comment: Wow, maybe Pennsylvania voters "prefer her relentless focus on the needs of ordinary voters", uhmm yeah, maybe, maybe she is fighting to be the DEMOCRATIC nominee, yeah traditionally the nominee of ORDINARY voters. Newsweek has been so biased in their coverage of this race. Now that the precious, elitist, condescending Obama is behind in the polls you are going to claim its because white people are racist. Comment: What kind of person would support hilary. What kind of woman would stand by a man who openly cheats on you, rapes women. One with absolutely no integrity or values.
She already lost and is now trying to sabotage a democratic victory in november with the help of her new friends the republicans who are donating money and switching over and voting for her in the democratic primaries and polls.

Comment: obama, and wright have a lot in common, love of self and love of the "spotlight"...Here's where the problem lies..obama tried to defend his mentor, his guru, and father figure...UNTIL it became upclose and personal.
when wright said "in Nov. or Jan. I will be coming after Obama"...OUCH...Obama had a cerebral moment and found great OFFENSE in the dishonorable rev's words..a bolt of lightening??? Too bad Obama never embraced the white side of his heritage...white Americans ever where should be enraged at his NEVER acknowledgeing his white side...but chose to throw his "typical white person" granny under the bus in favor of his buddy...Now, blacks are offended and whites have always been offended..SO, poor Michelle and Obama are headed for the scrap yard....Wright vs. Obama is the worst black on black crime, I seen to date..it's amazing to see the devistation left in their wake...Wright should be instutionalized..this guy is a raving lunatic and is definitely at least 4 beers short of a six pack...GOD BLESS THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA...
Comment: I am so tired of hearing about Wright. He is not running for president. This is all a smoke screen so that Old Time Politicians can remain in power. I want a president that can think, not drink shots in a bar or has to change their personality because that what the exit polls show. Please lets get real. This family believes that the problems that face this country is real and we need a fresh innovative approach to change. We support OBAMA.
Comment: I think I would prefer a President who drinks socially, over a President who smokes CRACK and hase sex with another man, in a limo....GEEZ, talk about selective hearing... I can't seem to decide, do I want a crack head, homosexual...or a TRUE PATRIOT??? Tough decision...You gotta be joking...GOD BLESS THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA
Comment: You said it Army. I'd take a Big Mac over a whopper jr. ANY DAY!.
Comment: I had been a subscriber to Newsweek for over 30 years. Not any more. I can't believe how deep this news media has gone into the toilet, along with most of the others. I'll get real news from the Huffington Post, thank you.
It's time to stop all this sensationalism and just present the facts. We have brains. Let us use them. We don't need reporters and news casters distorting the truth to suit their corporate owners.
Comment: MEMORANDUM BEFORE THE SUNDAY MORNING TALK SHOWS ...
The Wright controversy allowed critics of Barack Obama to lay into his judgement, his political instincts and reaction time, and his temperament.
This Sunday, the chattering class will be intensely involved in a post-mortem of the controversy, and might find it profitable to ponder an example from American history.
"[He] had no spontaneity--no emotional nature ... He was never a man of gushing feelings.
"[He] shrank from controversy as a general rule--hated quarrels, hated to say hard & sharp thing of any man ...
"He was slow to form his opinions. He was deliberate, cool & demanded the light of all the facts surrounding the case. When he formed his opinions he was firm, especially about questions of justice [and] principle ... [He] had unsurpassed reasoning powers. His logical faculties were great ...
"[His] statesmanship [lay in his] adherence to principle. He studied where the truth of a thing layand he acted on his conviction. He looked far into the future and was philosophical, true, scientific, in his inductions."
The opinion expressed above was held by Supreme Court Justice David Davis and the Illinois politican he was talking about was the same one for whom he had organized a successful presidential campaign in 1860--Abraham Lincoln.
Only time will tell if, once in office, Barack Obama will show the same wisdom that his fellow prairie lawyer Abraham Lincoln did.
But the gathering storms we are confronting as a nation suggest that such wisdom we will need.
Obama's promise is that, like Lincoln, he is cerebral, eschews petty politics, is "slow to form his opinions" and demands "the light of all the facts."
Obama, like Lincoln, possesses great "logical faculties", and he has shown he is firm on questions of justice and principle.
After all is said and done, Sen. Obama's promise remains great, and is fuelled by the phrase he like to invoke of Dr. King's, the "fierce urgency of now."
It is something one hopes the chattering classes will take into account, as they assay the political landscape and the hopes for our country.
(The quotes from Davis are taken from Willard L. King's, "Lincoln's Manager--David Davis," p. 231.)

Comment: This cover demonstrates everything that is wrong with journalism in the United States.
Perhaps your editors think reducing the democratic process to a photo of a bunch of arugula is profound. I think it's shallow beyond description.
I'll be finding other reading material in the dentist's office from now on, thank you.

Comment: The cover of this issue demonstrates everything that is wrong with--not Barack Obama--but with you, Newsweek Magazine.
If anything symbolizes the shallowness to which U.S. journalism has sunk, this cover does.
The next time I am in a doctor's or dentist's office I will find something else to read (I really can't think of any other place where I would pick up a copy of Newsweek).
Comment: The reason why superdelegate Joe Andrews switched his vote is because she is working with the republicans now(same gas tax break plan as mccain). She has already lost and is now just trying to destroy the chances of a democratic victory in november.

Comment: Judgement and character are real issues in 08. All politicians come with baggage. Obama's baggage is finally surfacing into the public domain. For 16 months, he has been insulated by an adoring press. Obama eventually outed himself with his defense of Wright in his race speech, and then his remarks in San Francisco. These self-inflicted blunders have consequently led to a closer inspection of the man Barack Obama. His personal associations and comments have made his judgement and character ver
